We stayed in the Fisherman’s Quarters Room 122. Room rate and location is perfect for a fishing trip super convenient to the Marinas. ||TVs are dated and size is pretty small. Beds are fine but could use upgrading. ||Oil and chairs are comfy when you want sun but but sand. ||Bath items and towels are great and access to Odens Dock and Breakwater Restaurant is ideal.

We stayed 2 nights to go offshore fishing! Nice little spot. Room was very clean. Great coffee pot and mini fridge! Nice balcony! Great price! Will definitely return again!

This was my 2nd stay at Breakwater. It’s everything I need and nothing I don’t. I go to Hatteras to fish, eat, and drink. Conveniently located where all of those things are accessible, this is my favorite place. I stayed in the Fisherman’s Quarters as it allows my pup to join me. Always clean and stocked with towels and toiletries. Friendly and helpful staff. I will be returning soon and recommend Breakwater Inn to everyone.

Beautiful views and very comfortable rooms.

Google
Unique suite layout. Small, but sufficient for one night. Fortunate to find this room, as they don't seem to cater to day trippers. Receptionist was very accommodating and friendly, and worked us into a one night stay. Room is quite clean and pleasant. LOVE the view and the little balcony. A/C is working great. Suite is bright with plenty of windows which gives it a more airy feel. Price was in line for location and season. I would definately make reservations here for my next trip whenever that may be. Not sure how the parking works out, with a full house, but I've got a good spot and not planning on moving until tomorrow. Restaurant right out back which we'll try, for our anniversary supper. Favorably impressed by the Breakwater Inn.

I stay here once or twice a year to fish miss hattaras .. it’s perfect for me .. walk out the room grab my gear hop right on the boat .. I personally couldn’t ask for a better location … nice to watch the sunset from the balcony and watch the other boats come in with their catch ..

Stayed there this summer. They charged a fortune for our dog and all he did was sleep on a dirty floor. I wouldn't trust this place

Google
We go off shore fishing twice a year generally in May and September. But the winds often cause cancellation and new dates. The motel is spotlessly clean and near the fishing docks. The price is reasonable and the staff is friendly and always willing to help out. If you can get a room on the top floor the view of the port is outstanding.

Yelp
We have a small dog so your choices to stay at Hatteres are limited. We have stayed here twice and like the location and simple amenities. Again this place has a few pet friendly rooms.

Yelp
I spent the day at an underwater seminar at the graveyard of the Atlantic museum. Great day; blustery but sunny. I ordered a dozen raw oysters and the blackened scallops appetizers. My usual Makers Mark; Ginger Ale and Lime.... Quiet place; great view of the break and beyond...

Yelp
Very disappointing. Grilled wahoo was dry and overcooked. Beautiful sunset, good apps. But we spent a lot money on dry Wahoo. Waitress said Wahoo trends to be dry. Yes, when you overcook it!! They must have ran out of roasted red potatoes, because mixed in were undercooked potatoes. Just not as good as we've had in the past.

Yelp
Very clean room nice size bathroom and tub. The place is dated but very well maintained and very clean. Me and the wife sat on the balcony and watched the sunset then walked to a local restaurant for a excellent diner. I would recommend this place to everyone

Yelp
We've stayed here numerous times now over the years. It's the only place we can find to bring our dog. And we've stayed without the dog, too. We love this place. The people are nice. The service is good. There is a continental breakfast every morning in the office. And as the kids discovered, going to the office at other times of the day, there's fudge, cookies, or other pastries or snacks. (They checked back a lot! Lol!) We always stay in the Fisherman's Quarters because we usually have our dog. But even without the dog, we stay there because it's simply cheaper! The newer part of the motel is really nice!! My cousin stayed there and showed me her room....very cute! Modern, a nice bathroom, little kitchen, and best of all...a deck in every room overlooking the sound. The sunsets over the sound have inspired many a picture for me while at the Breakwater. The fisherman's quarters are on ground level, but conveniently right near the pool. Also, we go into our truck a lot while we're there, so parking right in front of our room is very convenient. Those rooms are very plain, standard rooms. But we don't mind. We don't need fancy! And we aren't there to sit inside anyway! The rooms are clean, and stocked. What more do you need? The beds are fine, and I've had to control myself NOT to steal the pillows. I like them. Lol! There has been a sort of mildewy smell once or twice years ago, but I think that was probably after they got flooded. So you can't help that. It's Hatteras after all. They're about 4 feet above sea level!! Our recent stays have been smell free though. Even when there was a faint smell, it wasn't bad. I had no complaints. My favorite thing to do just before dusk is to walk back on the docks and look at the sun setting over the sound, take pictures, and just walk all the way up the docks and back looking at the boats. I'm not kidding when I say the sunset behind the Breakwater is beautiful. We love this motel. It is in our price range, and has everything we need. I have no complaints, and I never did. If you want fancier, then stay at the other part of the motel. It's also nice because right across the street is a Super Wings. They are fun to shop at. I'm sure we'll be staying here again this summer. And we can't wait.

Yelp
Great place for a quiet relaxing Spring Break. So relaxing. Rooms are clean and Comfortable. Great balcony to watch the sun set and the boats. Kitchenette makes it easy to have some snacks available. But you will want to eat across the street for some good local cooking. Who wants to cook and Clean up while on vacation? Enjoy this gem of a place.

Yelp
Stayed here 3 nights in a row while on vacation to the Outer Banks. PROS: The rooms were spacious with 2 queen sized beds, table, dresser & nightstand - as well as a 1/2 kitchen (sink, cabinets, microwave and mini fridge). Bathrooms were a good size. The location! The hotel is right on Oden's Dock where you can go deep sea fishing on the Miss Hatteras/Cap'n Clam and the Breakwater Inn Restaurant is right there also . Each room has a porch with chairs and a beautiful ocean view. The hotel is right at the very end of Hatteras Island so it's quite a good 15-30 min drive to the other local restaurants etc - however the ferry to Ocracoke is a 2 minute drive away which is great since the line for the ferry gets long very early each morning. Amazing beach and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum are also right across from the Ferry Port. CONS: The mattresses are horribly uncomfortable, Im not picky but you can feel the mattress springs in your back. No continental breakfast. We stayed for 3 days - the 2nd day we were there we had to call for housekeeping to empty our trash. By the 3rd day we had to call AGAIN because no one had been by to replenish our towels or toilet paper and we were completely out of both. Aside from the lack of service and hospitality, the size/amenities and location of the hotel were very nice. All in all, not a bad place to stay.

Yelp
I survived one night here. There was a musty smell in the room and the floor was linoleum... even where the beds were. If anyone is looking to remake the classic horror movies where someone gets murdered, I'd suggest using this hotel as an excellent site. dmo out.

Yelp
This is my first review of the Breakwater Restaurant however not my first time attending. When you walk in it's not a fancy place but it is a nice place. The staff members that I've encountered very professional, courteous and friendly. I like the fact that the majority of the waiters if not all were young adults appearing to be home from college break and holding down the summer job. Given the youth something to do is a great idea and it helps to build character. Let's talk about the food. Nothing like having fresh tasting fish just the way you like it. I enjoyed the mahi mahi as my entree it was lightly seasoned not overbearing. However for some reason my friends platter shrimp and fries was overly salty. He didn't complain just left the majority of the food on his plate. The desert coconut cream pie. I must admit it's not the way I'm used to having it but it wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant when you are in Hatteras North Carolina. As for a seat on the patio where you can enjoy live entertainment. The view of the docks and Wildlife mainly fowl helps to bring calmness into one's soul while waiting for your meal. I enjoy this place that's why return.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place by accident, I went to OBX (OFF SEASON) my usual spot was closed so I found this quint little spot (actually closer to the ferry and end of route 12) I had to call a number on the door but they sent someone out in less then 15 minutes to meet me and check me in. I stayed in the Fisherman's Quarters (A standard room) on the second floor facing the NC Side of the island.... The woman who checked me in was very polite, Friendly and knowledgeable (although I'm An Island Native) LOL She also gave me a phone number and said to me don't hesitate to call anytime if i need anything at all anytime! the experience was awe inspiring has it gave the feel of being in New England...the room had a Helluva (Yeah I know that's not a word but it's in my common persons vocabulary) a view and a balcony which i enjoyed sipping white wine and watching the sunset... I enjoyed this place so much... I called and sent for my mother to come and join me the very next day! Bad thing ...NO POOL :( WELL WORTH THE MONEY WHICH WAS REASONABLE

Yelp
I live on Ocracoke Island, just south of Hatteras. This may sound silly to some, but my husband and I like to come up to Hatteras for an overnighter every once in a while just to get away from our routine. We love the rooms with the balconies- watching those amazing sunsets with a glass of wine just cannot be beat! The family who owns the Inn also owns the Breakwater Restaurant, which is conveniently just a few steps away from the Inn. The food and atmosphere there are fantastic! We also like the close proximity to the beach 4x4 access from the Inn... my husband likes to surf or fish and I love to take a walk or read my book. Breakwater Resort is a great getaway spot!

Yelp
My experience with the room was the worst welcome to Hatteras. The room was filthy. A couch in the seating area had a huge rip right through the stained upholstery. The fridge door covered with rust and peeling coating. This motel has a serious problem with hygiene ...as well as customer service - I never checked in because of the room condition, yet was charged 1 night due to "policy enforcement." Also was accused of blackmailing when I mentioned I will leave bad review. Look elsewhere.
