My husband and I went here for our second wedding anniversary/honeymoon!
Things we loved: it's all-inclusive, so I loved having access to unlimited food and drinks. We were not part of the XL membership and genuinely don't feel we missed out much. We met some friends there who had signed up for XL, and really, the only difference is the check-in and the top-shelf liquor in your room. Again, I don't feel like I missed out on much because I wasn't really in my room for most of my trip. The resort is in a perfect spot in the Cabo San Lucas area. It's pretty much within walking distance from the downtown area, with lots of restaurants on the pier and souvenir shops; it has a perfect view from the second building of the ocean. I loved the private Sand Beach. The beach itself is public, but they have an area just for Breathless members so you can sit back and enjoy the sun in the sand. They always had daily activities for people to try, like painting, workout sessions, beach volleyball, and more!
If you're looking to stay at the resort only and not go outside to any restaurants or excursions, the resort has a lot to do to keep its guests busy and happy, so I think it's entirely possible to stay there if you really want to. It's also adults only, so that is another positive.
My husband and I tried every restaurant except one, the Spumonte. If I go back, I want to try it because the food looks really good there.
Many people raved about the Ocote restaurant, but my husband and I weren't big fans. The worst dish we had was at that restaurant, but it just wasn't as mind-blowing as everybody made it seem.
I visited the bites restaurant the most. Their breakfast items are delicious. I think I tried something different every single day. I was in heaven.
The service was terrific. Everybody was so lovely. Also, if this is your first time, I recommend bringing money to tip the servers and service staff as a nice gesture. If you're from the US, we just brought a few ones and tipped each time we were helped. Also, most of the staff speaks primarily Spanish, but for the most part, as long as you're not asking anything too tricky or detailed, they understand what you're saying. My husband and I spoke Spanish, so we had no issues.
One thing that I didn't realize, or maybe I forgot, is that this resort is divided into two different buildings. The spa, gym, and second pool with the DJ are in the back building. There's also a second-party rooftop (they play every other night). We weren't really given a map or instructions when we checked in, so we kind of figured all of that out on our own.
Our room was nice. We had a view of the pier and the boats. In the morning, the boats are a little loud, and the businesses that run those boats are not entirely quiet. Also, I had to use a hair clip to keep the curtains together because too much light was coming into the room, even with the black curtains.
I loved the view, though, and at night, it was really pretty. Another review said it was the team's version of Greece, but I think it's so much more than that! Cabo is a truly pretty area.
All in all, I don't think I had a bad experience at all. The food and drinks were really good, and it's definitely a relaxing spot for anyone looking to celebrate birthdays, honeymoons, anniversaries, girls' trips, etc.
They set up a cute honeymoon tag on our front door, and I thought that was so thoughtful. When we walked into our room, we had complementary wine and cake!
I would definitely come back and recommend this resort!
