Google
Love the activities the Nordic Center offers but more importantly - the staff!! Everyone is so knowledgeable and kind. Special shout out to Jerry and Gary for being amazing x-country ski instructors. The vibe and the food in the lodge round out any experience with goodness.

Would not recommend without more snow! We were out on the afternoon of Friday, Dec 26. Snow was crusty & thin. Busy busy; we waited 45 minutes for rentals even tho we reserved in advance. $140 total for 2 rentals & day pass, did the whole thing in less than an hour. They said 9 km was open, but it did not feel like that… This place is lovely w better conditions, but was not worth it today.

Google
We had an amazing private snow cat experience with our children and grandchildren! We rented two snow cats because of our large party. Our hosts were amazing and created an afternoon that was simply magical! The experience is a must do in Breckenridge!

Google
Wonderful experience and such a great value! Had the best time with Triniti and Mariana! So much fun, would come back.

Google
The Nordic Center was excellent all around. From the moment we walked in, the front desk lady greeted us with a friendly smile and looked up our reservation. After we filled out the waivers, we went to the equipment desk and got our stuff for snowshoeing. Snowshoeing was so much fun. We had just gotten fresh snow, so everything looked beautiful. We only did one of the loop trails which was 1.5 miles, but I would have loved to do more. We went back to the lodge and switched our snowshoes for skis for a minimal cost. Skiing was a little harder, but we still had fun. Nordic skiing is way easier that downhill skiing in my opinion. Overall, we had a great time and would highly recommend the Nordic Center for a day full of outdoor adventures!

Google
It's our first time coming to this place and if I could give it more stars, I would! First of all, the majestic landscape, the incredible trails, good quality equipment, everything was amazing. I 100% recommend Mariana our ski instructor, my children were happy with their first private ski class. She is bilingual which was a great help. We had a problem with my little daughter and they quickly provided me with support, gave me an oxygen tube, and helped me a lot. I can't wait to go back! Thank you for this beautiful experience.

Google
Had a great time, welcoming staff, had everything we needed. Great walk from the town to see amazing city and mountain views. We cross country skied and their trials are great! we even saw a Moose! Very nice center, will definitely come back.

Google
My family absolutely loved their time on the Snow Cat Tour. Matt was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We had the best time sledding on top of the mountain and just seeing the incredible views. My boys loved the Snow Cat and riding inside it. The enclosure is heated and we actually got hot and had to turn the heat down. This is fun for all ages and recommend this to anyone looking for a unique experience.

Yelp
Most people come to Breckenridge in the winter to hit the slope. But if you're afraid of downhill activities like me, you'll find great alternatives at the Nordic Center! A day pass is $30, which is a little pricey but ultimately worth it. You can rent snowshoes or Nordic skis for a similar price. My friends and I came here for snowshoeing and had a great time! They have a map which clearly marks the skiing and snowshoeing trails along with their level of difficulty. We did the willow (easy) snowshoeing trail which took about 40 minutes and offered beautiful views, a route under the gondolas and being in the trees with lots of cute squirrels. We left for breakfast and ended up taking the snowshoes on a different trail in town before returning them. The Nordic center is a great place to access fun winter activities in Breckenridge and worth checking out if you're in town!

Yelp
Booked our lessons and rentals online. Process from start to finish could not have been smoother. The staff were the most welcoming and helpful for us newbs, add to that a cozy lodge and small cafe, well kept equipment, and the best Nordic intro lesson by the incomparable Jim and we were all set! So much fun, and don't forget to drink plenty of water, newbs

Yelp
We decided to try out cross country skiing and it was amazing! Arriving at the Nordic Center we were greeted by the most welcoming ladies who walked us through the entire process. You can tell they have passion for what they do! The trails are well maintained and the entire experience was unforgettable. I highly recommend the Nordic Center!

Yelp
We went to the Nordic center for a snowcat tour. The staff was warm and welcoming the minute we walked in the door. Our Snowcat driver, Gary, had so much local knowledge it was just a joy to listen to him. The tour had beautiful views of the forest and mountains. It even included stops at an old mining cabin and sledding hill. Would highly recommend this awesome experience.

Yelp
Had a great time on a snowshoeing group class. Check in is easy and the guided trail gives a lot of history of the area. Definitely recommend for beginners. Love that you can use the center all day. So beautiful since you get to explore area you normally can't unless on their property. You can see the ski lifts and trails all day also.

Yelp
Came here so a friend could rent some snow shoes, only $25 for all-day rental. They have you pick a time, but they said you actually come whenever, and they aren't strict on the time. Just return them back before 4 pm. Also, it costs $30 for a trail pass to use the trails behind the center. But those trails are very well maintained, well marked, and beautiful views! We took the willow trail for snow shoes, and it took us 1 hour to go 1.5 miles, it had uphill parts, but those didn't last long. Be sure to stay on the trails, we saw some people also in snow shoes go off trial a little and started to fall through the snow, its very deep. We came on the perfect day, it was warm and sunny. You could the ski mountain and it was beautiful! The only wildlife we saw was squirrels, they were cute little guys. Highly recommend this place, they have everything you need and are so knowledgeable!

Yelp
Took a snowshoe tour here and it was so memorable. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions that I had. They also offer skiing here as well. I really enjoyed myself. Drank a spiced wine afterwards which was quite delightful! Try something new if you haven't! It will be worth it!

Yelp
We rode the snow cat at the Nordic center at it was a blast! Our tour guide gave us such great history of Breckenridge and made it a fun experience for the kids! We stopped midway of our adventure into a cabin where we enjoyed hot chocolate and s'mores. We played in the snow and took tons of pictures! We definitely will be back

Kassidy H.

Yelp
This place was such a rare treat to find - think old school classic ski lodge with personalized service complete with homemade German-style hot pretzels, soup, and spiced mulled wine. This is a family owned establishment with the feel that you've been welcomed into a family home. We were absolutely delighted to stumble upon this rare gem of a place and will make a point to come again!
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the staff and trails here. Always friendly and welcoming with excellent advice on trail conditions and wildlife viewing. Super kind too: came in at closing time to turn in a hat I had found on the trail and despite closing was offered a cup of hot chocolate with all the fixins to warm up; it was 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yelp
Super fun day. Great staff, excellent lodge for apres fun! Highly recommended. Super cute wine glasses built into insulated mugs. Perfect for hot tubbing.

Yelp
WOW!! First time snowshoeing yesterday and had so much fun!! Booking was easy as I called early morning/same day and they got us an appt for 2pm. Paid over the phone and was advised to arrive 15 mins early for snowshoe fittings. We arrived early to change into our snow gear and went up to the front desk. Allison whom I spoke with over the phone said she will be our guide. Eliza who was in rentals was also amazing and friendly. Everyone was very warm and helped us with our snowshoe fittings. Off we went - for the next hour in a half we walked into the snow with Allison. Its a guided walking tour of the areas around the Nordic center which comprises of private land, public land and some natural reserves. We saw several squirrels. Allison was a great guide and taught us so much on the surrounding nature. She showed us how to measure pine tree growth, how to react when a moose is near, where beavers are hibernating in the winter, how old certain trees are, etc. She showed us trees that had their barks ripped off by the mouths of moose's!! Also bear claws on trees!! But as with any living thing, it has the ability to heal itself. She showed us the scabbing of the trees on how it's healing it's marks. We walked all the way to Josie's cabin which was built in the early 1900s when she requested a cabin away from the mining town noises. We did get to peak inside as another group from the Snow cat tour was inside. I am glad we did the snowshoe tour and not the snow cat tour because we got to be active! The tours are relatively the same, it's whether you want to walk or be driven around. Allison helped us take tons of pictures throughout the journey. She incorporated nature talks as well as some history talks into the walk. Great experience and would recommend Nordic Adventures for any first timers or outdoor enthusiasts!

Yelp
It's a wonderful place to have a event. The husband and wife team that own this place are so outgoing and so friendly. Every time I have been there for an event it has always been a great experience. The food has been great, the fireplace is very warm and glows, the seating is good and they serve beer and wine. I haven't skied out the back for many years but now I have to go back. I w highly recommend this Nordic track.
google avatar

Yelp
The nordic center is the best! There is so much to do! You can be busy from open to close and have lunch and dinner there! Everything is reasonably priced and actually very affordable! It doesnt get crazy wild with tons of drunks. Its a mellow hang out spot and just enough fun without the insanity of town. The nordic center is really the only place my family goes because its the perfect setting, stunning, home cabin feel and relaxing.
google avatar

Yelp
We did the snowcat tour here and it was well worth it. Our guide/driver was incredible, patient and so informative. Our family had a wonderful time! We did the 4pm tour and enjoyed the beautiful scenery! Our driver even stopped to let our little one sled for a bit. We had hot cocoa in the cabin and learned of past ways of life during the mining times. It was a good lesson for all ages. After the tour , I was motivated to try cross country skiing with my motivation being the beautiful landscape and scenery. And the inside is heated in the snowcat which was a bonus!

Yelp
Such a special place! This is our second long-weekend vacation in Breckinridge (with the main objective of cross country skiing), and we are looking forward to coming back. The staff at this Nordic center is so friendly, welcoming, and the pride in their business and hospitality really shines through. We always have fun on the well groomed trails, and warm beverage in the cozy cabin with fireplace is the best relaxing ending to the day. We're looking forward to our return!

Yelp
While in Breckenridge we wanted to do an outdoorsy activity without breaking the bank. We chose snow shoeing because less injury liability and I needed to get back to work in one piece and because dog sledding and snow mobile-ing weren't options for our lack of planning. We arrived at what felt like a giant cabin-esque home. There was a fire and living room type set up for people to curl around and chat. There was also a gentleman playing music. Very cozy ambiance. We were checked in and asked to sign a waiver. We were directed to where we pick out our snow shoeing gear and helped with putting it on. We were ready and wondering when we were going to leave when the gear guy asks our tour guide who says 20 minutes later. That was confusing because we were told to be there at a certain time and that the tour would leave without us if we weren't. Eventually we got started. JD was our tour guide and helped us get situated and handed out water bottles. There wasn't much direction on operation but it's pretty self explanatory and not much different than walking. We were a small group. My girlfriend and I along with a 3 person family. The tour felt had a very botanical/horticulture theme more than anything else. It was interesting as was JD's passion for environment. It was a stop and go sort of tour and there was very little incline. There was a small little historical home that we stopped in where I thought we would be greeted with a warm fire after being out in the cold, but JD spent the entire time there explaining history only to start it as we were about to leave for the party taking place there later that night. Overall the tour didn't cover much linear distance. There was more talking than there was snow shoeing. JD has good command on his tour guide skills and was friendly and helpful where requested. Breckenridge is picturesque to begin with and we had moments to capture what we wanted as well as posed photos that JD was happy to take of us. Dress warm in layers if your considering and wear thick padded gloves so you don't develop tendonitis from holding the poles with much grip as is sometimes required. Don't forget to wear sunscreen, the CO sun can be harsh even in chilly temperatures! It is a little pricey for the lack of distance covered and not offering free warm beverages as part of the tour but that's what a tourist location can get away with. Overall we had a good time.

Yelp
This was such a fun experience! We went snow shoeing which is essentially hiking in the snow in the forest. We had so much fun! We got there, checked in, and were given our gear which were these things that that would attach to your own snow shoes and help you walk in the snow. We decided to get hiking sticks because we were going uphill on some areas and the sticks made it easier. We then put everything on and went outside where we were met by our amazing guide. She walked us through the forest, showed us some amazing views, and even took pictures for us. We got to see amazing homes that were being built out, as well as the gondola taking people up to the mountain. Then we were taken to a historical cabin where we were given a little history lesson. The whole thing took a little more than an hour and we were not tired at all! There was also an igloo built out where you could take cute pictures! Definitely an experience to try!

Yelp
This was one of the best things we did on our trip. Gary was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about everything on the mountain. Kept us laughing the whole time. I will send them as much business as I can. Loved it!!!

Jean Anne A.

Yelp
First time snowshoer. I did the guided tour and can't wait to go back. Gary was a great guide. Asked questions to gauge my comfort and confidence. The trip through the trees was magical. We saw moose. Thanks for a great morning.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
For being green since not having done cross country skiing for a very long time, the staff were super friendly and made me feel completely comfortable and confident that I can pick it back up. I'd highly recommend checking them out if you're not sure about downhill, but don't want to miss out on the mountainous opportunity. The only suggestion I would have is to possibly redo the trail maps... as a newbie, I could have asked more questions on what to look for.
google avatar

Alison G.

Yelp
This is a perfect family friendly sledding area. Plenty of space and lots of fun! Fun for the whole family and we felt very safe the entire time. We had 2 year olds and 8-10 year olds; they all had a blast. All the parents did too!

Yelp
So you've arrived mid-day in Breckenridge, or Breck as the local's say, from Miami and its too late to hit the slopes. A great refreshing alternative is some cross-country skiing and Breck's Nordic Center is just the place to do it. One hour will do the trick because you just came from sea-level and base elevation is over 9300 ft. Trust me you won't be acclimatized, and this full body work will have you huffing and puffing in short! Getting out-fitted was easy and cross country skis feel like light toothpicks on your feet. Just remember that these skis have no hard edges so turning can be a little trickier. The tracks are right next to the Nordic Center so just strap on the skis and away you go. The tracks (green and blue) vary in distance between 3-6 miles. You might think that's far but on ski's its much quicker. Take a free map with you so you know where you are on trail. Leaving the center leads you on a 1/4 mile down hill which was a lot of fun. The skis also are ribbed in one direction to allow a small amount of grip as you move one foot in-front of the other climbing small hills---for steeper hills you'll need to crow foot it by digging the edges into the snow hard. Breck from the woods is also an added bonus. Feeling the wind rush past you as you move through the white snow, "Over the River and Through the Woods" starts to play automatically in your head. The scenery is splendid as you get a chance to see Breck from the woods with bits of the valley below. It didn't take long until we felt a good burn developing as our muscle's starved for oxygen. Nicole and I took the blue loop, which on second thought it would have been best to stick with the easier green loop. We did the blue loop out for 30 minutes and headed back on the same trek as we had to be back before closing at 4pm, which we did make. Back inside the Nordic Center is a bar which serves hot soup which we happily shared. Feeling accomplished on our one hour excursion we were ready to explore Breck's city.

Meredith A.

Yelp
Warm, welcoming environment. My instructor was so helpful and supportive when I got scared going downhill.

Shari Lakes C.

Yelp
Great day snow shoeing! We saw lots of animal tracks and a couple moose in the clearing.
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
Breck is a cool town, hands down. We had a great weekend and found our way to many local spots with the help of YELP and the owners at Abbett Placer Inn. Breckenridge Nordic Center was one of those last minute changes in our day and plans that Emma at ABI suggested: "They will go out of their way to make sure that you have a great experience. They're great people." She was spot on! We showed up without reservation - we did this the day before with Good Times Adventure (thank you, YELP!) and had a blast of a day! Here too, they were happy to accommodate us and within minutes, we were scheduled with an instructor for Cross Country skiing lessons and had some snowshoes to keep us busy until the lessons started. We left with easy snowshoeing trail recommendations, gear, and a beautiful morning to explore the grounds at the Nordic Center. The place itself feels just this same way - very open, comfortable, hospitable, and has that "come on in and stay awhile" vibe. There are several community tables to have lunch and/or snacks at, in between your adventures, a small cafe with great soup and snack options and maybe coolest of all - a cool bar where you can grab a hot toddy, hot chocolate or a local beer to properly end your day. Five stars here! We had a great time with both the snowshoeing and the cross country skiing lessons. Everyone we spoke or interacted with was very friendly and clearly happy to be at work and with this family owned business. The trails were well marked and there are many, many, many.... no, I mean A LOT of trails to keep you busy or wear your body out - we ventured into the blue trail territory for a short bit and now have even more respect for those folks who ski, in any form! Great job, BNC. Definitely felt at home here!

Yelp
In the land of Breck-now-owned-by-Vail commercial, this Nordic Center is an island of local passion and ownership for the last 40-or-so years. The prices are reasonable, staff very friendly, hot chocolate spiked with schnapps, a lineup of local beers and a small, but foodie-centric lunch menu. The spacious lodge is new and with huge windows and great for those sitting out or taking a break. On the less reasonably priced, but fun side of activities are SnowCat expeditions. Groom the trails, stop at Josie's cabin to marvel how such a small hut accommodated a large family, enjoy s'mores, drinks and tales of the mining days. Two types of ski rentals - traditional Nordic and skate. If in doubt, you do not qualify for skate... Snow shoe trails available as well. One recommendation - mark the trails a bit better. Almost impossible to tell which trail you are on the first time around, especially when small signs at intersections are caked with wet snow. Warm and welcome experience.
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
I am so happy I decided to go here for snowshoeing and cross country skiing! The staff was all very nice and helpful. You pay one all day price and can easily switch between both activities. They have snacks, a little bit of lunch and alcoholic beverages as well! I really enjoyed their paths too- wide variety of beginner terrain up to advanced! I highly recommend.

Yelp
Frustrating first day in Colorado for me and my 3 kids. We were not advised that the snow conditions were terrible for nordic skiing. We spent most of our time scraping snowballs of frozen snow off our skis. It was near impossible to glide, even in the groomed lanes. Upon returning our gear, we were told the conditions were bad all day, even for their lessons. We didn't arrive until noon. I would have loved to be told they were aware the conditions were terrible and the rental skis would just stick to the snoe before spending over $100 to leave frustrated. If this was our first time, we would never nordic again. Luckily, we visited here in Dec 2021, so I am combining our trips for a 3 star rating. Not sure my boys will want to nordic again after this trip. I would have to think really hard before spending $50 per adult ticket/rental plus $45 jrs/kids rentals.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Really kind staff. They have a great gear swap in November. I got new-to-me skate skis, boots and bindings for $250 and the staff took the time to educate me and offer me options and ideas even on this very low return (to them) set up. You can tell they love the sport and care about their customers. Still another reason to prefer Nordic skiing over alpine.

Kristin K.

Yelp
The Nordic Cat Tour Was Amazing! What A Perfect Way For Three Generations Of My Family To Experience The Beauty Of Breck And Learn All About The Area During The Tour. Gene Was Our Driver And Ellen Was Our Guide And I'd Highly Recommend Both! They Couldn't Have Been Nicer Or More Welcoming! They Even Let Our Youngest Three Use Their Sleds (And Make Snow Angels!) By The Nordic Center After The Tour.

Yelp
A late season visit to Breckenridge and the first time on cross country skis in more than a couple decades (!!). We were happy to find well groomed trails, and lots of fun to be had in the back country. Cross country skiing or snow-shoeing, either way there were plenty of trails for exploration. The staff made an easy time of getting fit for our gear and everyone was very informative and friendly. We were given good advice and directions as well as a map and sent on our way to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and now that we know how quick and easy doing something like this can be, we'll be sure not to wait so long into the season for our next visit.

Yelp
Bessssssttttttt place ever!!!!!! We came here for my moms bday cross country skiing for the first time and while we frequent Breckenridge we've always managed to miss this spot. The staff was nice on the phone an older lately who was extremely helpful . We got there about 3 for happy hour and music and it was 6 of us. The location to venture out on your own was awesome!!! Gary was a whoot!! We loved him!! The cross country paths were adventurous as well. We'll definitely be back

Danielle C.

Yelp
The people here are so friendly and the environment is so cozy! You can cc ski or snow shoe a variety of trails with some gorgeous views. When you're done you can cozy up by the fire with a hot cocoa. Fun happy hour from 3-6pm with yummy snacks and live music (not sure if that's every day). Great alternative activity to downhill skiing when the mountain is too windy since this area is a little more protected by trees and such. Anecdote on how friendly the people are here... A couple near us spilled both drinks off their table and all over the floor and two sweet employees came over to help clean up but their first question was "Oh no, what kind of wine were your drinking so I can grab you a new one?"

Ashley B.

Yelp
Josh, I greatly appreciate your apology. Thank you for taking the time to look into this and we will come again in the future.

Yelp
We have owned property in Breck for 15 years, and have spent a LOT of time on the ski mountain. Due to an injury, I wasn't able to downhill this year so took the chance to visit BNS and try out snowshoeing. What a wonderful experience. The opportunity to be out in the quiet of nature - in areas you can only access in the winter via showshoe or cross country ski - was really special. Josh Dayton was our guide and he was super knowledgeable - I learned a ton about the wildlife in the area as well as the town's history - who knew a moose could run up to 35 MPH or that a fox can smell prey 3 feet under the snow?? Everyone I interacted with at BNS was friendly, warm and helpful. Finally, the new center, opened just in December 2013, is gorgeous - a lovely place to relax and have a bite, site by the open firepit, and chill. The Dayton family is a Breckenridge institution - owning/running this center and founding www.boec.org - an amazing nonprofit that gets people with disabilities outdoors. Love.

Yelp
Beautiful views with pine-lined, extensive trail system. For about $40, you can get crosscountry ski gear and a day pass for trial use. There are beginner trails, intermediate and advanced. I would say there is quite a bit of up and down if you take the southern loop (so beware). The lodge is nice with a big fire place, cafe and friendly staff to take a break for lunch or get trail advice. I like the trails here better than at the Dillon Nordic center - their is prettier scenery and longer trails, making for more of a full-day adventure. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Your cross country ski rentals also include snowshoes. So halfway through the day (after a few falls and some sore shins), we traded out the crosscountry skis for snowshoes, and trekked along a nice nature path with really great mountain views. Really fun day in Summit County!

Yelp
What a great experience. Henry is the absolute BEST! He was the perfect guide for our fun-loving, knowledge-loving group. I have already recommended this guided tour to 2 people headed to Breck this year. We arrived early and were allowed to do a self-guided snowshoe before the tour began and we hung out in the beautiful lodge afterward. Took pics in the Igloo. It was a fabulous day!
google avatar

Galina W.

Yelp
Unbelievable prices, outstanding service, not many people know about this place I guess since it's not crowded, empty trails, wildlife. We were not prepared properly for snowshoeing and they kindly provided us with free hand warmers which we used for toes, our guide carried for each of us a bottle of water in his backpack and sneakers, wow! Learnt history of Breck! They also have skiing lessons for only $45, what a steal! The Nordic center is so much better that these commercial crowded places, so happy to found this!
google avatar

Sophie E.

Yelp
This was my first time Nordic skiing and they were very friendly and helpful. Mary welcomed us and recommended trails for new timers as well as heads ups for difficult pieces. We went in April so it wasn't crowded but there was a personal feel.
google avatar

Marie O.

Yelp
This is also great place to hang out at the end of the day. Great Happy Hour in a quiet, lovely building. And beautiful ski and snowshoe trails too.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
This place has so many great reviews for good reason. A friend and I took classic ski lessons with Gary as our instructor. He was fantastic! Neither myself nor my friend had ever had any type of skiing experience and Gary was so patient with us. He was informative and encouraging and was great at clearly explaining everything. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The lodge is a cozy spot to come in to warm up and have some refreshments. I am so glad we found this place!

Yelp
After Covid hit this year, I had to replan my wedding. I was originally supposed to have a 150 person wedding in Colorado Springs, but in order to keep my friends and family safe I decided to postpone the big reception and get married with just our immediate families. I called multiple venues in Breckenridge and Therese at Nordic Center was the only one that called me back. She was incredibly sweet and helped me quickly plan my back up wedding. I got married on 8/1/2020 at the Nordic Center and Therese's son and small staff was there to accommodate us for the afternoon. There was a down pour of rain, and they let us wait it out and stay longer than what we had originally agreed to. I honestly can't thank them enough for making my day special and beautiful and really coming through for me. Their venue to gorgeous and perfect in every way! I love that its family run, because you can feel the extra care and thought they provide to their customers!

Yelp
Very friendly staff, who are happy to get you situated with an inexpensive pass and equipment rental. The pass gets your access to snowshoes AND cross country skis, so you could conceivably do both in the same day for the same payment! I went two days on a recent visit to the area. The first day, I took a guided Snowshoe Adventure. I had never snowshoed before, but it was not a problem. They got me set up with the shoes as well as the winter boots to snap into them. Our guide, Henry, was very nice and took us out for over an hour, telling us about the area, historical anecdotes, and the different tracks in the snow that we came across. It was some parts history, some parts nature and wild life appreciation, and some parts physical activity. We even visited a fairly pristine cabin that predates the town's days as a resort. We also saw a moose during the tour! In addition to the tour, I wandered around the lower trails by myself that day, and did in fact see another moose. If you stick to the lower trails, it's quite doable - a good workout and you'll feel the thin air if you're not from Colorado (I'm from Texas). Two days later, on my second visit to the Nordic Center, I came with some friends and we rented snowshoes and drove further up the mountain to a more upper region of the park. I believe they said this portion was national forest land. The snowshoeing here was much more rigorous, the climbs and drops more significant than what you come across in the lower area trails. But it also legitimately feels like you are secluded and out in the woods. In our 2.5 hours hiking on this day, we probably only came across 4-5 other people. If you're up for the exertion and have the time and the water/snacks, definitely consider it. We all thought it was worthwhile! The Nordic Center is well-run and they will take good care of you. Definitely recommend visiting them, if you want a day where you gear shift away from sitting around the town or doing the downhill boarding/skiiing that most folks do.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had a blast skiing here! Jim was our instructor and he was very thorough with his instructions. I really enjoyed how personable he made the instruction part of the ski day. He made sure to give personalized tips and definitely paid close attention to everyone that was with us. If it's your first time skiing this place is highly recommended

Yelp
One of the best run & managed businesses I've experienced in a very long time. No waiting, helpful staff and beautiful lodge.

Yelp
A group of 5 of us went snowshoeing for the first time. We did the 1.5 hour guided tour with Dave and had a fantastic experience. You can rent snowshoes for about $13 a person which is half the cost of renting from REI per day. FYI I bought snowshoes from Costco for $70 and they came with poles and a carrier case. The guided tour was $25 per person. Since we were unfamiliar with the area we went with guided and it was totally worth it! I learned so much about the local history and the trees from our guide. He paced himself to work with our group and took us on an awesome walk. This place is about half way between frisco and Breckinridge downtown. Definitely check them out. They've got great options!

Yelp
We were beyond impressed by our time at the Breckenridge Nordic Center. I've Nordic skied in CA and UT in the past and never had such a positive experience. The ambiance of the center is incredible. High beamed ceilings with natural wood, ceiling high windows, antique furniture and a hot crackling fire greet you. The people working here are incredibly knowledgeable, genuine and ensure that you have a positive experience. In addition to this, the trails are fabulous. The terrain is diverse and offers a variety of runs for skiers of all different skill levels in addition to breathtaking mountain views. My daughter had a lesson for skate skiing with Addie, one of the instructors, and her experience was wonderful. She learned a lot and has decided to take up the sport while she studies at CU Boulder. After a long morning or afternoon of skiing, you come back to the lodge for homemade hot soup and a rest by the fire (it was gluten free too, another plus!). They also offer wine, beer, cocktails and a happy hour from 3-6. We enjoyed a glass of wine by the floor length windows after a long ski during a blizzard. In addition to all of the above, the prices are very affordable. You can rent gear and get a day pass for under $50 - something nearly impossible in Breckenridge. We can't rave enough and will certainly be back in the future. Thank you Breckenridge Nordic Center for such a fantastic trip!

Yelp
I can't downhill ski this season due to knee surgery so when my friend suggested cross country skiing, I was nervous but decided to give it a try. It was AWESOME! Cross country skiing is no joke, though. My arms, legs, core - whole body! - was so sore the next day! The lodge is so cute (complimentary snacks, for purchase snacks like hot chocolate, tea, water, granola bars) and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They explained how we should use our skis, how to start, turn and stop. They also offer snowshoeing and their policy is that if at any point during they day we wanted to switch from skis to snowshoes, we absolutely could for no fee. There are a number of trails with varying difficulty to choose from. We kept to greens and one blue - it was relatively flat but the blues did have some small hills. For a newbie, the hills were big enough to gain some speed but not enough for me to feel like I was out of control. The course is awesome - it's near the base of the mountain so from some areas, you can watch the skiers on the hill, the rest of the view is just beautiful, white snow and some green trees. If you're looking for a fun alternative to downhill skiing or a great, non-impact full body workout, definitely try cross country skiing and check out the Nordic Center. You will not be disappointed!
