15 Best Breweries in Charlotte

"Brewers at 4001 Yancey is the headquarters for Artisanal Brewing Ventures, which owns Victory Brewing, Sixpoint Brewing, and Southern Tier Brewing. It’s also home to an innovation lab, where brewers experiment with new creations that, if successful, come out under one of the brand's three distinct breweries. Because you’ve got three brands in one, plus a line of Charlotte-only brews, you’ll find a wide variety of styles here. Popular picks include Cloud Walker, a hazy IPA, and 8 Days a Week, a Blonde Ale. Other favorites include Golden Monkey, a Belgian Tripel." - Lauren Levine

Google
Brewers is still fantastic and this time I was able to enjoy their wonderful Thursday Night Burger special that was a fantastic deal. Sitting at the bar, I had excellent service and there was no problem poking away at my laptop as I enjoyed a second beer. This is a wide open space with lots of different seating and on a weeknight, a pretty steady friendly crowd. Definitely a worthy beer spot with many different options, breweries and styles. I had a terrific evening.

Google
Great spot for a fun and lively atmosphere! They have a wide selection of beers, including some regional options, and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the outdoor patio is a great place to relax. I highly recommend checking it out!

Google
I come eat here pretty frequently. Always great service, food, and overall atmosphere. Perfect spot for a business lunch as the menu has great food that is easy to prepare. I recently had the smash burger Tuesday special. It was awesome. Great flavor and hit the spot!

Jason Silvestry

Google
First off huge fan of Victory brewing so to find this collaboration was awesome. Our server George was great, super attentive and helpful the whole night. Great atmosphere and plenty of pet friendly space including covered patio.

Google
I really can’t say enough good things about this brewery, probably one of my absolute favorites in Charlotte. Southern tier is known in the base case for extremely good beers and the collaboration here is no exception. Amazing brewhouse, Crystal clean, excellent service, even the soup was fantastic. Put this near the top of your list!!

Google
This place is great! I had cocktails, which aren’t beer but are also delicious! Friendly staff, specifically Alyssa who should totally win a prize of some kind for being awesome! I recommend the short rib pasta and the Pumking Spice Latte!

Google
Our bartender was great and knowledgeable about the craft beers that were on offer. Had a flight to try a few. Also, we had the wings, which were good as well.

Google
Dakotah the bartender was our server, he was AMAZING! Much like the Barbie drinks! The Hi Barbie is my favorite (and I personally requested a little extra glitter because I feel it needed a touch more sparkle ✨ ). We have been here a few times over the years but it seems to be doing better than ever! The food is so much better than it used to be (full of flavor)!

Yelp
Good beer, good food good service! We sat down for lunch before our flight out of Charlotte and ordered a round of drinks and a couple of appetitizers. Everything was brought out and was delicious except for my wife's cocktail. When the waitress came back for our entrees order we enquired about the cocktail and were told about some issue at the bar and d it would be coming out after the issue was taken care of. We placed our entree orders and my wife ordered a cider while waiting for the cocktail. Our entrees and other drinks showed up, but no cocktail and the waitress scooted off before we could ask again. The waitress returned to check on the food and we asked about the cocktail, she apologized profusely and promptly left to get the cocktail when she returned the manager came with and apologized as well stating it was his fault the drink was forgotten and comped the cocktail. I would talk about the food which was good, but we left talking about the great service!

Yelp
My husband and I visited Brewers at 4001 Yancey for the first time on a Saturday around 5 p.m. after hearing good things from friends and it didn't disappoint. Right when we walked in, there was a live band playing, and they were fantastic! The vibe was energetic, with a big crowd enjoying good drinks, good food, and lots of smiles all around. The music did lean a bit loud for us, though, so we asked to be seated further back. Luckily, we still got to enjoy the music while actually being able to hold a conversation ( a win, win). Our server, Chealsey, was super friendly and attentive. She greeted us quickly, brought water to the table while we looked over the menu, and checked in with us after we got our food and drinks. Thanks, Chealsey! We each ordered a beer and enjoyed both: - Crown Town - Fresh and bold with grapefruit and mango notes. A clean, approachable bitterness that was super refreshing. - Shandy - Served with lemon on the side and a light berry color. It was tart but balanced...like a berry lemonade, crisp and perfect for a hot day. Would absolutely order this again. Food-wise, we shared the cheesesteak with fries and an order of wings with smoked BBQ sauce. The cheesesteak tasted solid, but it came wrapped in foil on a plate, not exactly the best presentation. We unwrapped it to grab a quick pic, but honestly, it could've used a little plating love. The wings, on the other hand? Bomb. Meaty, well-sauced, and packed with smoky BBQ flavor. Definitely a standout dish we'd order again. Prices for food and beer felt totally reasonable, especially given the portion sizes, live music, and overall fun atmosphere. All in all, Brewers at 4001 Yancey delivered a great first experience: tasty beers, solid food, live music, and friendly service. We'll definitely be back, maybe next time with friends.

Yelp
Came here for St Paddy day on a Monday. Seems somewhat busy. Very chill and easy going vibe. Our waiter was really good. Attentive. I ordered two French 75. 5/5 The bbq smoked wings 2/5 good smoked wings but not enough bbq on it. Fries that come with it are bland The fish tacos were also very bland. Not my favorite. All in all, good hang out spot. Definitely enjoyed my drinks. Will try other things on the menu next time

Yelp
Freedom Dogs (4/5): 4th of July special. The corn dogs weren't fried enough but somehow all the toppings--honey mustard, ranch, cherry peppers, and cotija--worked together really well.

Yelp
Went here last Saturday and we were very pleased. Madison was our server and she was extremely friendly, attentive and gave great beverage and food recommendations. She also was friendly to our furry son. For a busy Saturday night food service was fast, on point and overall 10 out of 10. Drinks were also great, loved being able to do a flight to try beers we have had and introduced us to some new favorites. We sat out on the patio and it was warm with the heaters and clean. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
This place is huge!! A great place to watch sports, and a friendly staff that will help find your channel - inside or outside. They have a great little shop area to buy beers, T-shirts, stickers, etc. This place has great food and beer options. They also have great cocktails. It's the kind of brewery where everyone can find something they love! I only have one picture, but I have to brag on this amazing golden coast bowl because it was incredible!

Yelp
Not sure what's going on with this place I was seated by the host @12:50 in the corner wasn't talked to until around 1:15 placed a appetizer order when we ordered drinks & he didn't even come back to the table to ask if we wanted anything else until after 1:45 not good vibes from this place definitely not black welcomed seemed like I was ignored the whole time the food was cold or room temperature.

Yelp
Good vibes all around. Family friendly & date friendly, and all around a good time. I was here with my buddy from Florida. Cold brews, hot and tasty burgers/fries. Service was kind and above average. I would recommend this place.

Yelp
It is OK- a little too touristy for us. We'd rather spend time in a locally owned brewery or beer garden. The atmosphere was electric and bustling. The inside opens via garage doors to the outdoors, there are a couple of TVs and they have a full menu of bar type eats- haven't eaten there. They also have outdoor seating and are dog-friendly inside and out. It seems like a popular spot- maybe too popular because when they have events seating becomes an absolute s- show as was our experience with Pumking Fest. Still, they do have a lot of craft beers from Victory, Southern Tier, Bold Rock on tap so it's decent to stop in for a flight.

Yelp
This brewery rocks- great music, great selection of drinks, large indoor and outdoor space with cozy chairs. The bartender was very pleasant and helped me select my drink of choice for the night (and a new favorite at that). For a Thursday afternoon, it wasn't very busy and even allowed me to have a quick business meeting there. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great beer selection that frequently rotates. Friendly staff. Traditional American bar good, which is good
google avatar

Yelp
Great watering hole and a great spot to hang out. Baylie and Devin are exceptional behind the bar and Jacob keeps everything running smoothly. Solid selection of local and partnered beers on draft and they have crowlers and growlers to go. Great space. Outdoor seating and covered but open seating available when the weather turns nice. Happy to have found this spot and eager to return. You should try it.

Yelp
Compliments to Ethan. He knew his drink and food menu and made me feel welcome! The Festbier was a great amber. I had wedge salad good but some of the bacon was too hard to chew. Reason for 4 vs a 5.

Yelp
Another great Brewery in my "visiting all the breweries in a one mile radius." This is the 3rd one, I think, and I have no complaints. George, my server, was attentive and helpful. I'm not a big fry fan and he happily told me what substitutions I could make. The cod was perfect! The batter was crunchy and the fish was thick and flaky. Tarter sauce was really good. The jalapeño slaw had no jalapeños or any taste for that matter, but once I piled it on top of the fish with the tarter sauce it added a nice additional crunch factor. Wish the Mango slushie came in a larger glass because of the price. It was quite tasty, even added a shot of tequila. There were several more menu items I'm looking forward to try. This one is my favorite so far. So it's earned a definite revisit.

Yelp
Shoutout to whoever's on aux because my friends and I really enjoyed the music that they played! This place has a lively vibe, and it's great how they have several drink options from different breweries to choose from: Brewers at 4001 Yancey, Sixpoint, Victory, Southern Tier, and Bold Rock Hard Cider. I ended up going with the CLT Brew'd Hazy Daze IPA. Since it was a Wednesday, I also went with their featured Chad's Burger with jalapeño slaw as my side. The meal, service, and ambiance were all good.

Yelp
Food was excellent, one pizza, one burger. Great atmosphere, great service. Love that you can create a 6-pack to leave with. Look forward to going back when it is not 110 and I can sit outside. Great off street parking. Very accessible for the wheelchairs and a family restroom in addition to others. One of the best beer menus I've seen in the Charlotte/Rock Hill area
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
Great brewery to check out with wide selection of beers! It's fun and lively. The outdoor patio is great and you can play cornhole and connect four. The giant pretzel was delicious!

Yelp
I came here for lunch and ordered the Brisket Meatballs...WOW. Literally the best meatballs ever in my opinion. It was absolutely perfect, a great portion, and had great flavor. I truly enjoyed. We all loved our dishes and my friend who lives nearby says that they are consistently good. Our waiter was really helpful, staff was friendly. The beer flights is a great option, they have great brews. We ordered blackberry (the best one), cider (fall like), IPA 8% (good taste, strong), pomegranate (second best to me). Large space with a nice outdoor option. It is a really nice spot. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We stopped in having spent the afternoon at Queen Park Social. The place was packed! They were able to accommodate our party of 5 that soon turned into a party of 8. Our waitress was so kind and such a trooper! She was very nice, took time to explain the menu and answer questions, and was receptive when we asked for things. The place was slammed, and she managed to keep us all in check. The food took awhile to get out - everything was good, and it was a larger group. However it seemed as though something was backed up in the kitchen since no tables had food for a period of time. Regardless, we had only one hiccup where someone got the wrong order, and it was quickly addressed and fixed. I ordered the chicken pot pie, and it was delicious! Piping hot, I suspect it held up some of the other orders in our party from coming out. But truly, I would recommend it and absolutely order it again! There were lots of beer options, I got a weird beer, knowing it would be an out there choice. It was alright, was happy though would choose a different one next time. Finally, they brew a ton of beers and ciders and such onsite. It's a cool spot, with a ton of seating. I'd recommend for larger parties, it had some outdoor space too. Getting here is 10 minutes or so to walk from the Scaleybark light rail stop. There's parking available, though much of it is street parking - can be hit or miss.
google avatar

Yelp
Really a special place. They have practically every beer Victory makes and I'm a huge Victory fan. We had a pizzia that was excellent. The three of us shared an order of their brisket meat balls and I would recommend them as a meal or as something for the table. Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. It's dog friendly. We look for breweries that have great beer, have great atmosphere, and like dogs. If they meet our requirements, then we put their sticker on our RV. They will have a spot on our Tiffin.

Yelp
Great hangout spot with friends and family. They are military friendly! Food is so yummy that I can't wait to finish trying the entire menu!!!

Yelp
This place is super cool. If you're a beer lover, you must make a pilgrimage here when in Charlotte. The food is incredible. I highly recommend the wings. Service is quick and they really have a great knowledge of the beers they have on tap. Several are made on site.

Deb L.

Yelp
Service was outstanding. Emily took great care to seat us and food arrived quickly! Super large place with a comfortable vibe! Loved watching the Derby there, the music was awesome too! Family friendly, groups, table for two! Everyone's welcome.
google avatar

Yelp
Plenty of parking in the lots and streets nearby. Service has been hit or miss. Sometimes I have and fantastic service and other times pretty bad so I guess it averages out to normal. The interior is huge and has tons of tables and bar space. In addition to having a large building they have a large selection of beers. If you love craft beer you will love it here. They have lots of local options as well as other out of state craft beers and ciders too. The food is actually good so you can enjoy food while drinking.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Always love stopping by Brewers at 4001 Yancey. It was a great day for a cold beer and some good food. I always love the cloudwalker IPA and my wife is a fan of the Sour Monkey. They have a large variety of beers and ciders on tap and even have a cocktail menu. They have three mocktails as well which are very good! The food is always good and would say almost everything I have tried has been worth getting again. They have plenty of patio seating as well if you are looking to enjoy a drink or dinner outside!
google avatar

Meesh G.

Yelp
I love some Brewers in the FALL! This is a Charlotte brewery that knows how to do all things fall - food, drinks, and atmosphere. Their Pumking beer is some of the best fall beers coming in a variety of different flavors. I recommend getting a flight and then picking your favorite one for your next drink. My favorite is coffee, but they don't have it this year. So I recommend the Maple or Pecan right now. Also, their chicken pot pie is delicious! It's got that thin and crispy pie crust and a perfect balance of chicken, potato, carrots, and peas. Additionally, it's not too soupy; it contains more hearty food than sauce/gravy.

Yelp
Huuuugge brewery with plenty of seating and outdoor space and good food. Enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended

Yelp
We chose to have our last restaurant meal of 2023 at this brewery...and well, major regrets. :( Before this recent dining experience, we both have been raving about the foods at this brewery for years. From my recollection, everything we've had here previously had been stellar...but not the case on this recent occasion, on December 30th! First of all, I've always loved the wide layout of this brewery...SO spacious! Since we've been talking about their amazing Chicken Pot Pie for years, it was THE reason we chose this place. I noticed that the menu seemed smaller...but some new items, like the Short Rib Pappardelle, so ordered that as well. For appetizer, we ordered their Chicken Nachos. Well, their sliced chicken was just too wet and sloppy. Then the Short Rib Pappardelle looked too dry...as if it dried out while waiting under the lights?? Just didn't look freshly made (just look at my picture!). Then the biggest disappointment of all...their once glorious Chicken Pot Pie. The outside crust looked awesome as before...but the rest of the pie was basically a SOUP. It was the soupiest Chicken Pot Pie we've ever seen-tasted!! It was obviously a botch job...as their pie did NOT look or taste like this last time we tried it. Our waitress actually took the pie back to the kitchen...and we would have re-ordered, but she said the Chef basically said it would look the same. The Manager came by the table to apologize...but he, too, said there was nothing they could do to improve that soupy batch. We ended up ordering their Burger and Fries in its place...which turned out to be OK, but quite sloppy (again!)...and the chips were terribly tasteless, and they even looked burnt! Basically, the textures of all the foods were all off. Fortunately, we did enjoy our drinks. I loved my Pumpkin Spiced Latte cocktail...and my hubby enjoyed his beer. Also, no issue with the actual service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive...and we did appreciate that the Manager came over to apologize (and of course, we weren't charged for the Chicken Pot Pie). Still, the foods here were so shockingly bad this time. Shocking because once again, we used to think the foods here were amazing! Maybe it was an off night (but on a New Year's Eve weekend?!?). Sadly, I've lost faith in this brewery. If based on the ridiculously soupy Chicken Pot Pie, the dried out Short Rib Pappardelle and the sloppy Chicken Nachos, I would have dropped 1 star. Luckily, we enjoyed the drinks...so I'll leave with 2 stars. Who knows...we may try them again in the future, but we definitely have no itch to run right back anytime soon.

Yelp
Always busy and energetic, but always full staffed with a solid, attentive service team that knows their craft. Excellent daily deals, with $10 Growler fills on Fridays that my wife and I took advantage of. Very enjoyable pretzel, served hot and delivered fast. The only slight bump to the experience was the cheese sauce, it was a little clumpy and seemed like it may have broken from high temps/inadequate stirring. Great beer menu all around, and a huge bar with plenty of space, as well as extensive patio seating and an indoor area with a "cozier" vibe with low couches and the like.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
I really like this spot overall. They have delicious mocktails that I really appreciate while I am expecting! I also love coming with a group from work after a long week. The only reason I am giving four stars out of five is sometimes the service has been a bit slower even when they aren't that busy and the food menu is pretty limited in my opinion. Great beer and drinks menu though, keep it up!
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
The atmosphere and drink selection was great. I was disappointed with the bowl I got. It lacked flavor and sauces. I wouldn't recommend this again, but we would return for the environment and

Yelp
Who doesn't love the Charlotte brewery scene? The Brewers at 401 Yancey may not be completely Charlotte-based, but they are a great brewery and restaurant to hang out at on a Friday night or on the weekend or on a weekday for that matter. I've enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak, several of their appetizers, including the nachos, and tonight had the short rib grilled cheese. IMHO anything they put their beer cheese on is 100% I feel like the service is always good and the atmosphere is always buzzing. The brewery is super pet friendly, so there are plenty of furry friends to puppy watch. There's a lot to do, see, drink, and eat. Cheers!

Lyndsey H.

Yelp
Love Yancey! Trivia nights are the best. Nachos are amazing but the fried cauliflower was just sitting in a bowl of sesame oil. The burrata was absolutely amazing but literally only came with one single piece of crostini which honestly just confused me and made me laugh lol. Our server was great and the live music made it a great night

Road T.

Yelp
I love this place because it has a good collection of beers and food. The place has good ambiance. My favorite at this place is the golden monkey beer and bbq smoked wings. Service was great too! They also have games by the Master of ceremonies like guess the songs which makes it even more fun. This was my second time here and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
google avatar

Tondra H.

Yelp
My work team and I headed over to Brewers after work. The service was initially slow, but there was a server change and it picked up. I wasn't a huge fan of the appetizers we selected, but the pizza and drinks were amazing. The ambiance was chill and fun, and we enjoyed the lady who took over our table as she also worked the bar. We'll definitely return.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Huge space, great for big groups! Dog friendly too! We had a huge group and our server was great and patient with us. The Cuban was good! Came with a lot of fries. The grilled chicken sandwich was good, but the bun was a little soggy. Good pub food
google avatar

Manny C.

Yelp
Best Brewery and restaurant in CLT. The ambiance is perfect every time. If it's a nice day out come here and sit on the patio which you won't regret. We have been coming here since pre-pandemic and it never disappoints.

Yelp
One of my good friends hosted her 2nd Annual Galentines Party here and it was another fun-filled Saturday of laughter, food, drinks, and awesome girl time! Although the brewery was busy, our servers were attentive and we got some fantastic eats! Chocolate Raspberry Martini ($13)- Vodka, Crème Brûlée, raspberry simple, and sprinkles - The pink color gives the Valentine feels, but the creaminess and taste will make you want to order two more. Loved it. Flash Fried Cauliflower ($11) - parsley, roasted garlic sauce - The star of the show on this appetizer is the roasted garlic sauce. It is perfection on the cauliflower. This isn't highly recommended, it's MANDATORY. Loaded Fries ($11) - Prima Pils cheese sauce, bacon, hot cherry peppers, Parmesan ranch, and scallions - Great combo of flavorful goodness that hit all the right spots. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Meathead Pizza (12 in - $14) - red sauce, mozzarella cheese, bacon, pepperoni, Italian sausage, pecorino - Meat pizzas are my thing and this one was BANGING. While I would consider this a thin crust pizza, the edges were thick, which I loved. I ate every slice of this except one (give me points for sharing, lol). Golden Monkey Banana Pudding ($9) - Nila wafers, whipped cream - The presentation on this is so fire, you're gonna expect the taste to follow. The taste follows if you know Golden Monkey is a beer that is incorporated in the banana pudding. The beer dilutes the sweetness, which impacts the taste. If you do not know this in advance, you'll think the banana pudding has gone bad. I don't recommend this unless you are a die hard beer lover.

Yelp
We love to stop here when we have to go to the Charlotte airport to pick/drop people off. Great atmosphere, great food and good cold beer. We have been a few times and tried various things. Their burger is good, we also like their Cuban sandwich and bruschetta. It does get VERY busy on weekends so be prepared for that. There is some street parking close by and a bigger lot a little further away.

Amy B.

Yelp
We picked this place because we were looking for tasty food in addition to beer and it didn't disappoint. The staff was super friendly and service was quick. I had the citrus artichoke bowl with salmon and it was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the veggies were fresh and flavorful. My husband had the BBQ bacon burger and said it was good. I had the CLT Brew'd Hazy Daze and it was a nice hazy IPA. My husband loved his Pecan Pumpking. We will definitely be back-- there were so many more beers and food we wanted to try.
google avatar

Fallon H.

Yelp
I went here with friends after attending a daytime event. The place was absolutely slammed and while that did cause a few issues, the staff was super kind and helpful. I ordered the nachos without chicken or jalapeños (I'm a pescatarian with no spice tolerance lol) and they did include jalapeños which I simply picked around. The pickled red onions were great and made for overall solid nachos. My friends and I were initially a party of 5 but ran into others we knew and ended up becoming a party of 8. Our waitress did such a good job accommodating this which was impressive given how busy it was. Everyone loved their food! One of my friends was brought the wrong order but it was fixed within minutes and he liked both his order and the accident order lol. If you like beer this is a great spot, there's so many craft beer choices so it's certainly a great spot if that's your thing. The overall atmosphere was fun, being surrounded by all the brewing equipment with live music in the background made for a playful and lively environment. I certainly recommend!

William B.

Yelp
Staffing, food quality, service overall. Managers that show their face and help out staff

Yelp
Alyssa took great care of my big group of hungry and thirsty friends! She was super friendly, the food was delicious, and the beer selection is incredible. I highly recommend it and ask for Alyssa!

Yelp
Love brewers at Yancey! This place is huge and such a crowd pleaser. Truly the best spot if you're trying to please everyone. They have a huge selection of craft beers and cider as well as a full cocktail menu. And the food is all AMAZING. The only bummer is when they change the menu and remove one of your favorites!! I had some of the best pulled pork nachos here, but I haven't seen them on the menu recently. The last time I came I ordered the burger with a side Caesar salad, and they were both SO good. The burger was cooked well and a great size, and the Caesar salad had the most delicious homemade croutons. 10/10 recommend.

Anastasia W.

Yelp
Wow I was not expecting this brewery to be this big!!! There was so much seating but everywhere you went it was different. One corner there were TV's with the game on, but other area was a quite relaxing area. I ended up sitting at the bar and had a great time getting to know the different types of beers. The bartender was super friendly and we ended up talking about the history of the place and she let me sample a ton of the beers until I found the one I loved. This is a great hang out area and the giftshop was top notch!

Yelp
Yancey hits reallllllll good. My parents were in town & love craft beer. Yancey was the first spot to come to mind. Tis' the season for PumpKing The carnitas tacos are mouthwatering with an explosion of flavor in every single bite. I haven't had any other entrees since I've been there because they're so good. PumpKing isn't a typically pairing, but I need to consume as much as possible in October to get my fix. The only thing I'm going to ding them on was the service. It was absolutely terrible. It took 15 minutes to have someone come up to our table & I went to the hostess stand asking if someone could come. Great breweries, delicious beer, tasty food. What else does one need?

Yelp
It was recommended we stop here when we were looking for a brewery. The beer selection was extensive. Get a flight to try five. The size of the flight pours were larger than we usually get. That was a nice surprise. It was extremely busy but there were a lot of tables and bar seating. The outside seating is nice as well. Our service was pretty slow and we had to ask if we had a waitress but they were also very busy. Would try again

Yelp
Meatballs and the mimosa cider were delicious. The music was a little loud. Service was great.
