"Quiet, hiddenbeaches that once defined the Caribbeanare still favored by discriminating travelers. Serene and blessed with a few basic facilities (including parking, restrooms, and changing areas, as well food trucks), Brewers Bay Beach offers visitors an easily accessed, languid, sweeping shore. It's an ideal spot forgrabbing a towel, relaxing, and watching the sun set. With shallow, calm, clear, and reef-protected waters, the beach is popular with families, who can enjoy the gentle surf. Snorkeling is also popular, and the beach is home to stingray and turtle communities. Despite its secludedfeel, Brewers Bay Beach is located near the University of the Virgin Islands campus and Cyril E. King International Airport."

Street parking. Lots of seagrasses in the water. There's a mix of warm and cold current. Unfortunately we were not able to see any sea turtles during our visit. It's nice to have a clean restroom and outdoor shower area. Lots of trees for shade and hanging your hammock. Across the street, we were able to try salted fish and beef pates. The chicken pate was sold out, it was highly recommended by another guest. We liked the pates here compared to the one we tried in Red hook.

Calm water, clean beach and saw so many turtles and fish just from walking on shore before heading to the airport!!

The beach is wide but the sand is a bit more dirty than other beaches on the island. There is a bath house which is decent. Parking is on the side of the street.

Great and calm waters, super clear and great for snorkeling. Saw a couple of turtles near the shore. Great for the whole family. Good plane sightseeing.

Nice sandy beach with only a few rocks. Plenty of shade, bathroom, outside shower, clean. We saw several turtles when snorkeling, but there is no coral reefs. Maintained by the University but open yo public. Best part it is calm when winds are from the north.

We visited Brewer's Bay on numerous occasions while on the island. It is a beautiful beach with bathrooms and freshwater showers. There's food vendors and plenty of room for large groups. This beach was a gemstone, in that not very many people make mention of it and we only knew about it from our host. You'll find a lot of locals here and some tourists. This place, without a doubt, is the place to go for turtle siting. Each time we visited, we saw turtles. I probably saw about 6 on the first day and 3 on the second. I did not see turtles at any other beach we visited except Magen's Bay.

We have the best experience ever in this beach. We have a natural encounter with a dolphin. My kids, my wife and friends been touching and playing with a baby dolphin for more than one hour. Was really a unique experience in the most amazing beach with clear water, no waves and great sand.

Yelp
Our Cruise ship ported near by and after during an organized excursion, we were looking for a beach to snorkel and chill. We were very fortunate to learn about this spot from our excursion guide. We took a taxi over (maybe 10 mins drive) and glad we did. The water was clear and the snorkeling was great. Local spot and we learned that Food Trucks come and have snacks if you don't bring your own. While in the water for 10 mins, I saw more sea creatures than I did all day going through the big excursions via the cruise ships. Lots of turtles "just chillin, doing they thing". The water was clam and plenty of views while sitting on the sandy beach. Bathrooms & showers are available so make sure you bring towels. Most of the taxi don't want a "wet person" in their vehicle... and I don't blame them.

Yelp
This beach has crystal clear water, and it's not rocky. The beach and sand look and smell clean. The area is nicely landscaped, and it is very scenic.

Yelp
This is a wonderful beach. Go to the left near the dock. You'll see many beautiful sea creatures. While snorkeling we saw turtles, stingray, colorful fish and so many other sea creature. If you don't have snorkeling equipment you can rent from St Thomas Adventures. They have bathrooms and a shower to rinse the sand. Plenty of parking too. This will be my go to beach for sure.

Yelp
What a beautiful spot. We snorkeled and saw several turtles and lots of little fish. Planes coming and going next to the beach , fun to experience. Calm waters and trees for shade. Bathrooms need some updating . No charge to go onto the beach. Gray Food truck was there , beers $4-5. Was able to walk over the hill to the university bus shed and take the bus back to town for $1. Definitely a little trash on this beach , maybe they need more bins about ... I would definitely visit again :-)

Yelp
We found the sea turtles that a lot of the reviews mentioned! We were so excited to see them munching on the sea grass, then taking a leisurely, graceful swim to the surface to breathe for a little bit. It rained the day we were there but it was still beautiful and it wasn't crowded at all. The beach is large so I think, even on a clear day, it wouldn't be congested. Definitely worth the visit. Not much in the way of tropical fish but the sea turtles made it all worthwhile.

Yelp
This beach is a strong 4.5 stars - my favorite beach on island. Water is calm and warm, and you can watch the planes take off and land while relaxing. I usually hang to the left side of the beach and hide under the shade of the trees when I've had enough sun. There are facilities and an outdoor shower - which is great for a free beach. The only downside is that the beach can get a little trashed, but it's not so bad that it would dissuade me from frequenting this location. Oh, and there's a food truck that sells patties, local fare and liquor across the street!

Yelp
If you have a younger child, this is the absolute perfect beach to come to! It's a bit out of the way for anyone in a cruise ship so you may need to catch a taxi, there's ample street parking along the beach. They even have outdoor showers and bathroom facilities (I didn't check those out so not sure of their cleanliness) the beach is pretty long and on a busy day there's about a dozen people. The reason this is a great beach for kids is it has some of the calmest water on St. Thomas which makes it great for kids playing at the shoreline collecting shells, learning to swim, or snorkeling. Also there are no major drops on the ocean floor so you can stand for quite some time out of the shoreline. We didn't snorkel but there were a ton of people doing so and we still managed to see sea turtles (we were told by snorkelers there were 3) popping their heads up now and then. There were fish swimming around us as well as pelicans diving for their lunch. Even more cool for kids and potentially adults is that it's directly next to the airport runway that goes out into the ocean so you see planes both landing and taking off. Be aware that there are no beach chair rentals so it's bring your own or towels, there are plenty of trees lining the beach where folks camp out for shade and also hang clothes and towels to dry on the tree. Also, there are dumpsters for trash so you don't have to lug it back to wherever with you. All in all, great beach, great time!

Yelp
Favorite beach in St Thomas because it was not crowded at all! Which is a major perk. Was just as clear and beautiful as all the others beaches that are completely packed! Lots of beautiful shells to find. Free & free parking..can't go wrong.

Yelp
Super easy entry and exit for this sandy beach by the university and airport. I was actually thinking I would be disappointed after getting in the water to snorkel, as there is no reef, but we found at three turtles nibbling on the sea grass, a stingray rooting about in the sand, lots of jellyfish and even a big puffer don't expect large schools of fish, but if you are willing to get out into 15 to 20' of water and look around, there will be plenty to see.

Yelp
So I think I might like this beach a bit more than Magen's bay. I know that probably sounds like madness as the other beach was rated one of the highest of all the beaches in the world. This one just seems a lot more low key. There are still a decent amount of people there so you can feel safe, but this beach just feels more low key and less famous. One point that I love doesn't have to do too much with the beach, but the fact that parking is not only pretty easy, it's free! No cost to come in is huge to me. STT is already expensive enough to come to! I also love the fact that all down the road there are lots of food trucks to serve you food and beverages! The beach itself is glorious. The views are still pretty nice, not as nice as Magen's, but still beautiful. The water is so clear and the sand is super smooth to walk on. I highly recommend this beach! The only downside is the bathroom. While I'm thankful there is one, it was repulsive to change in. This could be a one time thing, but seems like the normal.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite beach on St Thomas. It's a quiet family beach! Great for snorkeling, saw a couple sea turtles and lots of fish. Easy access and parking.

Yelp
Another beautiful beach on St Thomas. We enjoyed Brewers for a few reasons. First the water is crystal clear, perhaps the clearest we have seen in any of the local beaches. Second, it's right by the airport runway, which is kind of cool as planes take off and land. And third, it has an amazing view of the sunset. Overall another fantastic beach worth visiting. The only drawbacks were that the beach has a lot of shells and rocks to walk on and that the bathroom and shower facilities are lacking. Other than that - great beach!

Yelp
Date of Visit: April 2013 Definitely the most unique of the beaches that we visited while on our recent trip to STJ and STT, here are a few thoughts: Location: 5 out of 5 I bet that if done right, you could probably walk from the airport to the beach. I mean, it wouldn't be a super close walk, but you could probably do it. Actually, if you're carrying a lot of stuff, you might as well get a cab. The beach itself is located on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands, but it's not like you have to drive out of the way through the campus to get to it. There's street parking along the beach, and I saw a parking lot too across the median. Amenities/Commodities: 4 out of 5 Not that bad of a place. There's a little house that has a changing area/shower/bathroom in it, and it was clean and well-maintained. Looking for food or drink? While it doesn't have a restaurant, two very entrepreneurial food trucks are usually set up, serving a mix of island cuisine and Americana. Want some Johnny Cakes stuffed with salted fish? Sure. Want some chips, burgers, or hot dogs? Yep. Want some roti? Yes I! There is not, however, a shop where you can buy sundries or rent watersports equipment, which is just as fine for me. There are, however, a lot of picnic tables in the area, and lots of open grass where you can set up canopies and the like. Ambiance/Seclusion: 3.5 out of 5 This is the thing, right? The beach itself is quite beautiful, and I saw that some of the boat owners who had moored their vessels in the bay had taken their dinghys to the beach, tied them up, and slept in hammocks up in the trees. All very idyllic, and the rocky and pebbly sand gives it a different touch and feel than any other of the beaches. But wait...what's that noise, and what's that coming down (or up?) Why, it's the airplanes that land and take off from STT airport. If you time your visit right, you may not see any of the commercial airliners take off or land, but since we had quite a bit of time that day to spend at the beach, we saw maybe 6 or 7 commercial flights all land in succession, not more than 5 - 10 minutes apart from one another. (see my pictures) Locals only rating: 5 out of 5 I am happy to report that there were very few tourists on the day that we went. As a matter of fact, the fiance and I might have been the only two non island dwellers. I saw a few older women swimming around, a few families having a bbq, and the most interesting part was watching two guys clean conch meat that they had previously busted out of shells. Being the inquisitive type, I wanted to see what they were doing, and they were very open about showing me the process - and get this, even gave me a taste of fresh conch. That stuff is going HAMMMMMM! Overall: 4 out of 5 Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have a child (or child like person) in your family who is fascinated by airplanes landing and taking off next to the beach. This isn't the same intensity as what you would find at St. Barts or St. Maarten, but you'll still get to see some airplanes. I particularly liked the fact that there were food trucks lined up on the street, and that it was visited by mainly locals on the day we went.

Yelp
Horrible. Yes, it is free. Trust me, you will be way happier with Megan's bay. We went to Brewers in a sunny Monday afternoon, not crowded. The sand is so dirty, mixed with small trashes, you can't walk with your bare feet. Some reviews mentioned the food trucks, stay away from them. GO TO MEGAN's BAY!!

Yelp
this is a beach ride next to the airport and to the university of the virgin islands. i guess because of this there are not many people so its virtually empty. its a really nice beach though with clear waters and the occasional fish jumping out of the water and some stingrays. no lifeguards on duty
