Brewery Bourgogne des Flandres

Google
This was one of our favorite stops on our trip to Belgium, there is a patio that sits right next to the water and you can sit out there and drink great beer and watch the boats go by. We had a couple different kinds of beer and a giant pretzel with some super spicy Mustard. It’s a really cool place and it’s super relaxing. The people working there were great and the service was fast. If you are in town, you absolutely have to go here.

Google
We love this place, second visit over the weekend after visiting originally in 2023. The beers are all excellent (I tried the flight), nice selection of snacks to pick at while you drink (meatballs recommended). Lovely spot outside by the water to watch the world go by as well! Will be back

Google
I recently visited Bourgogne des Flandres in Brugge, and it was an overall enjoyable experience. The brewery itself offers a beautiful setting, located right along a canal with stunning views. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great beer. The Bourgogne des Flandres brown ale was a highlight—smooth and flavorful, truly representative of Belgian brewing. The brewery offers a cozy atmosphere, and there’s plenty to learn about the brewing process if you’re into that. It’s also a great spot to sit outside and take in the surroundings. However, the service left something to be desired. The staff wasn’t very friendly or attentive, which slightly impacted the experience. It would’ve been much better if the service matched the quality of the beer and the ambiance. Overall, the beer and the views make it worth a visit, but I’d hope for better service next time. Rating: 4/5

Google
Beautiful brewery next to canal. They have really good selection of beer. The beer flight is worth trying. Highly recommend this place!

Google
Beautiful front court yard, Beautiful back area on the water and the inside is beautifully decorated too. The inside smells so good. The beer was delicious and well priced.

Google
Good place to get a flight of beers and sit by the canal. Sipping beer and watching swans and tourists go by. What else do you want? Much more is offered than just a flight of beers. There is a tour and food too.

Google
Stopped in for a snack and a brew after hearing about the location on a canal boat tour. Easy order at the bar service and pretzel was tasty. We easily found space for our large group. Also bought some beers to go, had many options available. Would recommend!

Google
One of my favourite places. Great staff, sit outside and get a good view. The Flandres Red was great 👌 Pretzels were lovely

Yelp
My 2nd visit and I would highly recommend a stop here at sometime during your visit to Bruges. Lots of beer choices, some cheese or sausage snacks. Pretzels. Lively, on the canal which was a huge attraction for us as we first noticed the brewery from our canal ride. Just lovely, plenty of seating, attached to a beer museum of some sort ? I really enjoyed our time here on both occasions, once in mid march once in late June.

Yelp
Self guided brewery tour. Very affordable and great wya to learn some knowledge. The tour is interactive so you can touch things and smell things! The beer is great too! They brew most there and you get to try them at the end. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

Yelp
**This review is for the beer only.** My husband and I split a flight of their six beers and had a good time. We sat outside to enjoy the views of the canal. They do brewery tours and serve some food but we did not try either of those. Cheers!

Yelp
Local brewery right on one of the canals in Bruges you won't go wrong if you stop in here for a beer on a pretzel.

Yelp
Right by the water. This is one of the best breweries to have a drink in Bruges. The service is fast. You do have to go to the bar and get your own drink, but the servers are friendly and very approachable. The best part, beside the drinks is the amazing view. It is located next to the canal, and the water only highlights the company and the great conversations to be had when you visit Bruges!

Yelp
Stopped here for the Cherry Beer. There is a Brewery so the yeast aroma is potent as soon as you walk in. They do have a Brewery tour . It is an audio/self directed so you don't have to book in advance. Billed to take 30-45 minutes. I ordered the Beer flight which offered six different Beers. Unfortunately it didn't include the Cherry which only comes in bottles so ordered that separately. Also ordered a Dried Sausage and cheese cubes (came with horseradish style mustard) as the Belgians suggest eating while drinking their beers (given high ABV) Simple and delicious. There was a short queue and I wanted to order water so one of the servers brought me a bottle -as well as that Cherry Beer which was a nice touch. The Cherry Beer was delicious. At 4% ABV, a lighter Ale and not too sweet like the Strawberry which was part of the Flight. Tasty Beer with a small Bar food menu. A great stop for a Flight or a quick Ale.

Yelp
This is the best brewery in date I say all of europe. I wouldn't stop in for the food, maybe the pretzel, but they have free tap water! As an American I was stoked!

Yelp
Right after traversing the canals via boat, why not sidle up and watch them float by too? A choice spot for sipping on Belgian style beers and the regional specialty Flanders style sour ale at that. Order at the bar, pay, and take your food and drinks out to the canal-side patio. We ordered a flight of 6 ales at ~5oz/ 15cl each. In the mix, we had their flanders, Bruinen Os/ flemish brown ale, pale ale, tripel, kriek, and blonde ale. Aside from their Kriek, which I found coying, their sips were excellent. The cheeses in the charcuterie board were a delight too. Some were locally made. A good mix of sharp and creamy varietals. The bread could have been better but they do give you a lot. A peaceful respite after walking around the cobble stoned city streets.

Yelp
Excellent brewery! Loved all the beers, definitely go for the tasting tray to sample all of them. I also had a pretzel.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went on a Belgium beer tour. Found Bourgogne as one of the top places we wanted to visit. Such a great history, and several award winning beers so we were really looking forward to it. Long story short, it did not disappoint. We did the brewery tour. Which, first off, was fairly priced at $40 euros for two people including a beer flight. Might just be here for the beer so I'll say the pours are pretty good size (I think 8 oz). Secondly, though, the tour was self-guided, so you could go at your own pace and listen to the detailed explanations as many times as you wanted. It's very informational and easy to follow. Best part though, if you're still reading, was getting to interact, ask questions, and talk to one of the brewers actually doing the work. We talked to Vito, he was awesome, very personable, and had some great stories. I'd like to thank he enjoyed conversation as much as we did.

Yelp
Some really great beers to be found here. One of my husband's favorite finds from this trip, although we would have liked to stay longer and we didn't get to sit on the water. Perhaps some other time. Per our usual, we ordered a couple of flights and got down to the business of sampling everything and husband rated on Untappd (ratings in parentheses). We tried: Saison Bio Farmhouse Ale (3.25), Martin's Pale Ale (3.50), Bruinen Os Belgian Strong Dark Ale (4.50), Blanche En Zijn Peird Belgian Blonde (3.50), Bourgogne de Flandres Belgian Blonde (4.75), Blonden Os Belgian Blonde (3.75). Would have really liked to go into the gift shop but they closed early for an event and we were out of luck. If you love beer, this place is a must.

Yelp
Loved that it was by the river. Loved the paddles of beer and large pretzels We really enjoyed the ambience

Yelp
This could easily be the most beautiful brewery in the entire world. Tucked away right next to the water in Brugge. A very charming beer garden on the outside. Warm and cozy seating area inside. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to sit in their outdoor patio and have a nice cold Belgian beer on a warm sunny day. It was a little too cold to do so when I visited. Get yourself a flight and enjoy.

Yelp
A must stop for any beer lover in Bruges. We came through here on a beer tour. We walked through the brewery and then grabbed a couple of beers. Because the weather wasn't good, we grabbed seats inside instead of on the terrace. The beers were yummy, the lambic was my favorite but I went with the blonde for my bigger glass. My husband got their IPA and didn't love it - he preferred their brown ale. I highly recommend you do the brew tour if you come, it was very cool to see and learn the history of the brewery. We returned when the weather was good to grab a spot on the terrace and watch the boats go by on the water.

Yelp
An amazing brewery located in what I think is one of the most beautiful locations you can site a brewery. Do yourself a favor and get the flight and charcuterie board and enjoy it on the patio - a little slice of heaven.

Yelp
Located a couple feet away from our hotel we had to check out the brasserie at one point or another. It is on a side street so if you aren't looking you will miss it. The vibe is chill and has a laid back feel to it. They have heat lamps so you can sit both inside and outside which is cool. My preference was sitting outside on the patio over looking the canal. So nice. I ordered the beer flight which looked like a taste of everything on draft. I liked the lighter beers better than the darker ones honestly. I also ordered the dried sausage since they were out of the bruge meatballs. The dried sausage was really salty and tasted kind of stale honestly. Fyi, Bourgogne means burgundy in french. Had no idea but little piece of trivia information if you ever need it. Overall, the experience was good. Sitting on the canal made it great. Beers were good as well. Come check it out.

Yelp
Great beer, of course, Charcuterie was tasty. Very busy place with hard, kind workers. Worthy of a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place to go for a beer. We had the beer flight and the vegetarian tapas. Both tasted good. I thought the beer flight with more than €15 is a little pricey, that's why I gave only 4 stars. If it is warm you can also sit nicely outside. Being in Brugge it is probably one of the must do things.

Yelp
February 2018: Okay okay, so I was getting snacky while hubby wanted more beer. So we walked towards Flandres. There was a barrel seating so we opt to sit there. We order the cheese platter and bread. Four type of cheeses and the highlight is their mustard. We asked if we can buy it anywhere and she said nope. Too bad it was our last day in Bruges or else we would have made a trip to this mustard place so we can buy and bring home. Yes it was that good. Hubby got the beer flights and he like it. Really great beer on tap according to the hubs, I enjoyed the cheeses and of course the mustard. Wish the bread was warmed. The person who helped us the whole time was a lady who was either the manager or the owner of the place. She was laughing when we asked her about the mustard. She mentioned it's not for sale and I'm not going to lie, I was hoping she would give us one to take with us, it was such a small container I just thought since it was free with the cheese plate she can give one away. ha ha, no such offer ..haha. Good cheese but nothing mindblowing. Definitely great spot for snack and beer. They have other food but their kitchen was somewhere else and they get the food from a food elevator I think? It's weird but I heard another table stating their food was cold. We didn't have a problem with our cold cheeses ..haha.. I guess maybe that's why our bread was cold? Anyhow I enjoyed it..

Yelp
I yelped "breweries" in Bruges and was informed that this one was literally around the corner from my hotel. I don't mind the 20 minutes I spent here since it was so close. It's also an apparently new place too. I can say, as a solo traveler, I did feel pretty out of place in the restaurant area. I had asked about a tour when I arrived but the lackluster response I received basically propelled me straight to the beer. I tried their pure Flanders. It was pretty good and is exclusively poured on-site. I gave it 4 stars on Untappd. And this too would be a 4-star review if not for the stuffy (classy?), unwelcoming vibe of the space. I asked the bartender how he was and he looked like I asked if I could steal a keg or something. Many tables were open when I entered but once a large group of primarily older folks walked in, I took it as my cue to move along. I'd say visit if you're nearby and want to try a rare brew. Pass if you'd have to make any sort of trek.

Yelp
We came here as part of the Legends Best of Bruges tour. This was the last stop on our tour and it was fun to learn how beer is made. This brewery mixes its beer with lambic. Overall, our group agreed that the beer is just OK.

Yelp
In 2016 six friends and I did a 2 week private beer tour of Belgium, The Netherlands, The Czech Republic and Germany. The tour started out in Bruge (Belgium), and would take us to such legendary breweries as Huisbrouwerij De Halve Maan (in Bruge), Westvleteren, Le Trappe, Omer Vander Ghinste and many more. The itinereary did NOT include Bourgogne des Flandres! We arrived in Bruges a day early to check out the amazing town and pop into the Duvelorium and Cambrinus as well as the Amazing Cafe Rose Red (what a beer list!). While at the Rose Red I met a pair of fellows who, upon hearing I was there on a beer tour invited us to visit their rather newly established brewery called, you guessed it: Brewery Bourgogne des Flandres, right there in Bruge :-) Long story shorter; our group ended up adding Bourgogne des Flandres to our tour and we absolutely loved it! Fantastic beers and blends, incredibly charming staff as well as a storybook location. If you're in Bruge you owe it to yourself to visit Bourgogne des Flandres, you won't be disappointed :-)

Yelp
Great place to spend a beautiful afternoon...something for everyone! Came here for the view, stayed for the wide variety of beers. Will be back!

Yelp
I really love this "Brasserie". The options for beers are very good and tasty. The multiple-beer-plate looked really good and seems like a fun thing to do on a date or so. Loved sitting outside on the patio on the river. Heerlijke brasserie met excentrieke en lekkere biertjes!

Yelp
A unique change to the typical beer tours in the US (Budweiser, Coors -ugh). I found this beer by looking around a neighboring tables to see what everyone was drinking around me. Dark beer is my preference and Bourgogne des Flandres is a gorgeous, lush beer. It's blended with lambic! My tour was en français (my preference) and I was the only guest so I was able to ask many questions about Yakima Hops, and other beer-lover type questions. At the end of the tour, you have a free serving of the original. Refreshing flavor on a warm day. Great tour, great brewery - not too touristy. http://www.bourgognedesflandres.be/en

Elissa M.

Yelp
I didn't care for my beer. The bruin was a bit too hoppy for the style. Also they served it to me with 2 inches of foamy head and dripping all over the glass. All of me and my table got wet with beer. Server at bar not very friendly. :-/
google avatar

Kristen F.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The beer is fresh and the space is versatile. You can choose to sit on the patio out front, inside, take a tour or, enjoy the beautiful views from te back deck. A MUST SEE when in Brugee!

Gamebebe C.

Yelp
Beer is great but the food is cold. If you want to have a beer and enjoy the view, this is a good choice
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
We stopped in a for a flight of 6 beers. It was great. We got our flight and then sat outside on a bench and enjoyed the weather. Didn't have time for the tour, but the beer was fantastic.
google avatar

Dania A.

Yelp
The beers were exceptional. I don't even like beer, really (I know what you're thinking - why are you rating this place then?), but the beer that I do like is Belgian. This place had a wonderful strawberry beer on tap and some great bottled beer available too. The terrace overlooks the canal and has a wonderful view of one of the cathedrals. The reason I rated this 4 stars is because some of the staff were rude to myself and my friend. We asked if we could taste the beer, and both staff members understood what we were saying, but instead poured us pints and told us how much we owed. Also, they rolled their eyes at us, probably because we're Americans, as we asked questions. I didn't appreciate the treatment and felt like it could have been handled better. Everything else about this place was wonderful.
google avatar

Lindsey J.

Yelp
Their personal beer is very good, I would recommend taking the brewery tour and then relaxing in the pub at the end. Didn't try any food.
google avatar

Vi T.

Yelp
Don't be deterred if you think it is just another tourist trap. It's Bruges, every business is a tourist trap. This place has legit beer on tap, that you can order as a flight, as well as food. In particular, try the beef chilli carne; the flavor is unforgettable and unlike any other chilli you had tried before. This is coming from two people who generally don't like chilli but we cleared that dish! There are seatings outside along the river for you to enjoy your boisson. Definitely give it a try.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
Love the feel of this place. Beers were very good! Taste them all. We got the cheese plate too. Highly recommended. It was not super crowded and were able to sit immediately.
google avatar

Rose F.

Yelp
Glad we stopped in on our last day in Bruge. Fun place to sit outside and have a flight of beers. My favorite was the Bourgogne des Flandres sample but there is something for everyone.
google avatar

Cathy B.

Yelp
This place is beautiful! The tasting flight is 6 of their house beers for 12 euros! Great deal. I liked the beer very much except the Timmerman's Strawberry. I highly recommend stopping in and staying a while. Sit out by the water to people watch and socialize.

Scott W.

Yelp
What an amazing place. From the minute we got here, we were greeted with a warm smile. What a rich history and even more amazing beer! Don't miss this place..
google avatar

Sergey F.

Yelp
I've had the best experience here. Sitting by the canal, soaking in the old european town charm, enjoying best in the world beers, sold by the nicest bartender. Even croques were perfect. This visit was a definite highlight of my Belgium trip.

Cathy K.

Yelp
A fun and informative visit thru their brewery is a must-do while in Bruges; the ticket price includes an audio guide and a 25 cl serving of the Bourgogne des Flandes beer, which is made on premise. Their bar offers other beers as well, fair prices. Kid friendly tour, they get a "treat" if they are able to find all of the moles "hiding" in the brewery. Check their website for current prices and rates.

Sylvester C.

Yelp
I came here and the first thing I immediately noticed was that the staff here was very unhappy and not nice to the costumers. They are very rude. They work en talk to you with a face that says I really don't want to work here. Now we are going to talk about the food. 12 bucks for bread with cheese. Well I can tell you I can make this for 2 bucks. The prices here are unreal and the food is worst than my cooking and I can tell you that's bad. The waffles are like putting bricks into my mouth. I would not rate you to eat here. You're better of by eating next doors by quick.

Al C.

Yelp
While not a beer aficionado, we found the tour was very well done and informative, allowing the crowd that started to thin out as people went at their own pace. Good chances to interact with the brewing staff, who cheerfully answered my questions (with a chemistry bent). The end of the tour earns you a glass of their name-sake beer, which pleased even the wine drinker in the family. We spent over an hour in the place, ending at the canal side tables.
