Yelp
Okay so first and foremost love the ambiance, it's giving very industrial, bourbon distillery vibes. It felt really like we should be drinking but I had to drive.
The service was fast and friendly. The server was keen to recommend dishes and give his opinion on what's popular or what he's tried. The food also came quickly, and we had no issues with service at all.
The duck bacon wontons:
Okay there's a reason sometimes at certain restaurants they have a dish that's more popular than anything else.... It's because it's the best thing there. And I'm so happy that we ordered the popular items because we got to try their top selling menu item the duck bacon wontons. The outside was crispy but not too crispy, just enough to get a little crunch, while the inside dough was soft, buttery, and gave your mouth that readiness to invite the infusion of flavors that were about to explode on your tastebuds. Between the pomegranate and the creamy cheesy bacon buttery sauce inside, my pallet felt like everything it ever dreamed to eat combined in one dish just came true. If their other dishes lived up to this they would definitely get a 5 star from me.
The jalapeño pull apart boule:
So first and foremost the cheese on the top of the boule was already hardened and had cooled down. That was a bummer, but at least it was still somewhat warm. We didn't delay to eat it, the cheese had hardened from the moment it came to our table. Another issue is we expected a bit of spice from this dish being that the title literally says jalapeños, but they put almost no jalapeños in there, I thought the cheese would be spicy, I was really hoping for more on that, but this was a mild dish for sure, 2/10 on spicy scale.
The boule came with a beer cheese on the side. The beer cheese lived up to its promise, you could taste a bit of the beer flavor infused into it. I liked the bratwurst and bacon inside the beer cheese but note to the restaurant owner, you definitely should consider writing on the menu description that the cheese has those ingredients on it. Some people are allergic to pork or maybe they are trying not to eat meat and ordered this because it sounded like just a cheese dip. You should print the ingredients on your description.
The poutine was the worst part of the meal and also one of the worst poutines I've had so far in the Pacific Northwest or the Midwest. We got a huge order of fries and the pork belly was almost non existent, it was maybe 2 ounces of meat, the gravy wasn't that good and it didn't even cover most of the fries. I'm not docking them another star on this meal because they took it off my bill because I didn't like it so at least customer service made up for the issue on it.
We wanted to get dessert so we got the bourbon bread pudding. We thought this was pretty decent. I have had better bread pudding before, but it's definitely nothing to complain about. The frosting was the best part, it was sweet but not too sweet. I dipped the bread in the frosting on each bite. If I were the chef, I would consider serving this in a hot pot and adding ice cream a la mode.
