First of all this might be one of the most idyllic streets in Haarlem. Restaurant itself is also located in a very old & beautfiful house.
Seating is good, food was really great reception for our lunch with 2 was a bit less energetic to what I'd expect for such a place. This continued throughout the service. Although always attentative, it felt distant, same for the cooks. Certainly as it was quiet (only 3 tables taken). I hate overly eager personel or restaurants that spend 20 minutes just explaining what's on your dish but this was a bit too much the opposite side. Still enjoyed it as I had great company so who cares ;-)
Perhaps most importantly though the shared food we had was absolutely great. Haven't had such good food in a long time. Simple and clear dishes with great quality and flavours. We had the escabeche (beetroot), tuna, duck, sukade and terrine. Only the terrine wasn't really special but that was my mistake by ordering it in the first place.
Would I come back? I think so, but the price is quite steep and the full experience didn't justify it. Still would recommend to go here to try it.
