Two different experiences are available at the estate, one side is the old convict village and farm, with lots of interesting artefacts from the 1800's and the Archer families history. On the other side of the road is the house and its extensive and stunning gardens. Highly recommend both but if you prefer you can do one or the other. The lovely lady at the front desk is a gem and we had the best damper scones!

As an annual visitor to Tassie i am always trying to find a mini adventure before hopping on the boat to travel back to the mainland. This is one of my favourite overnight stays. An historic homestead surrounded by animals. The staff are relaxed and welcoming. We always stay for a few extra hours to join in with the morning feeding routine for the animals which always includes a few calves and lambs needing a bit of extra help. It is such a lovely spot. The homestead homestays are so old that I have to duck my head in the doorways. It is quite the experience.

We had a seamless and very friendly check-in for our one night stay in the Old Farm cottage. This working farm is full of history, and well worth the investigation. Beautiful landscape, old buildings, and animals, perfect for a relaxing visit, and for great photography. We loved every moment.

An interesting UNESCO site displaying convict built structures, plus the family history around the farm make it a very interesting site to visit Well worth the visit

A really good place to visit. The Family history and the convict labour was very interesting. Most of the buildings are still in good condition and you can enter them. The old chapel is a good example of the old architecture. When you have finished you can drive out and straight across the road and visit the opposite side of the farm. There are some nice gardens to walk through and you can see the current family home from the outside. There is plenty of parking, toilets and some drinks and food available. Entry is $20 for adults, concession $18 children $8.

We stumbled on Brickendon Estate on a rest stop between Bicheno and Cradle Mountain, and boy are we glad we did. It’s one of the 11 Australian Convict UNESCO sites, still very well preserved and informative about one of the more gloomy parts of Tasman history. Genevieve was very lovely and informative, giving us a little run down of the place before giving us the chance to roam around the grounds and gardens across the road. We didn’t have much time for the stop, but if we did we definitely would have stayed for the video showing that goes into depth about the history of the place. Super interesting and definitely worth the stop.

This place is amazing. There are so many historical about their family heritage, the old building, and all the equipment that they used in the past. I enjoyed a lot event forgot to look at the time. Please don't forget to visit the farm village on the opposite to the garden as well I just realised when I got home. There are a lot of animal walk around and so friendly. I was so happy to visited this place. If anyone wanna enjoy your day off but don't know where to go this is just perfect. 😻 The entrance ticket is $14/adult.
