"Simple in concept, excellent in execution, the Brickyard at Mutianyu is a destination in itself, situated about a 90-minutes drive from downtown Beijing in a traditional village. Recovered tile pieces form mosaics that pop out from the red brick walls—a nod to the building’s former life as an imperial tile factory. Brickyard has a modern feel, with rustic Chinese elements that allow this hotel to blend in with the surrounding village. The eco-conscious philosophy carries through to the working organic garden on the grounds. The rooms are open-concept, one side composed entirely of floor-to-ceiling windows, with views of the Great Wall extending atop the hills in the distance. Trails used by locals lead right up to the wall (a rather challenging hike), with no guards around to collect entrance fees. The Brickyard Homes, once peasant homes, have been whimsically restored by the hotel owner. They invite Frank Lloyd Wright–esque comparisons for their ability to integrate spare Asian design into a modern context."
We stayed in one of the king bed rooms with tatami. It was a fantastic visit. The kindness and care of the management/staff began before arrival (being flexible with our needs and proactively calling to see if we wanted to change our non refundable reservation due to rain) and continued until after our departure (alerting us to the fact that we forgot a wallet). In the meantime there was a super warm welcome as we explored the beautiful grounds (jacuzzi is particularly fun), luxuriated in the beautiful room, ate a delicious dinner and visited the Great Wall. The breakfast is rather Chinese oriented and some dinner dishes were better than others (tofu, deserts and almond pasta better than garlic bread and seafood dish). But super highly recommended and we will be back!!

My new husband and I came here for two nights as part of our honeymoon to hike and explore the Great Wall. ||Our hotel room view of the Great Wall was absolutely spectacular, and we were able to see the towers we visited on our hike wall from our bed!||The service was top-tier and we were very impressed with Stanley and Ocean. They helped us navigate the WeChat app, arranged any and all transportation everywhere we wanted to go and suggested shops and restaurants. ||The food was amazing and the hotel grounds itself is beautiful. We would stay here again any time!

I had an excellent stay at the Brickyard Hotel near the Great Wall at Mutianyu. The entire experience was unforgettable. The room was incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful design and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
What truly stood out was the amazing staff—warm, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their hospitality added so much to the experience.
The location is perfect for visiting the Great Wall—just a short walk to the Mutianyu entrance, which made it easy to beat the crowds and enjoy the wall in peace.
If you're looking for a unique, relaxing place to stay near one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, I highly recommend the Brickyard.

We had stopped by for lunch there on our way to Great Wall. Nice place, good food, decent people and great ambience. We had tried shrimps, pizza. Nitin was too hospitable to us and had extended his help in taking our pictures by the cherry blossom.

We were charmed by the beautiful setting of this renovated factory. It was an ideal break for autumn. I very much suggest it, and we can't wait to return! We had heard much about it, and it went above and beyond what we expected.||We stayed in the Chairman's Suite and enjoyed the stunning view of the Great Wall's through the large windows. Our room featured a comfortable Japanese soaking tub, a private courtyard, and a fireplace that we happily ignited. The small touches, like the eyeshades, helped make our stay memorable. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating, allowing us to extend our stay a bit longer due to our sleeping baby.||We had a wonderful dinner at one of the 3 restaurants with excellent food and a lovely merlot. The next morning, a delicious breakfast with homemade products and freshly squeezed orange juice was ready for us. In the daytime, we walked around the small village and discovered paths for future visits to the Great Wall.|

We love the Brickyard and this stay was no exception. From the moment we arrived - with our 3 children and our puppy, we had a fantastic time.||What I love about this small, intimate hotel is the friendly care taken by the team under the guidance of the General Manager. The hotel is really great with rustic homely rooms, all with excellent and breathtaking views of the Great Wall. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil and you never feel like it is too crowded - which is wonderful if you have come to escape the busy city (like us). But what really makes this hotel my favourite hotel ever (and I’ve stayed in a few), is without a doubt the service. The team just get it right; the service is friendly and the team cannot do enough to help you. We love it because it truly is a restorative break, a home from home. Oh, and the food is just lovely too: I recommend the chicken curry ‘China in a Bowl’ which is delicious...and if you have any space left, the homemade cakes are the best I’ve had in Beijing! Not great for your waistline but great for your soul. We are already planning our next trip...

Beautiful spot! Roger and the rest of the staff were amazing! My sister and I stayed two nights and we had a great time. We arranged for the private transport so getting there was very smooth. Our room was large and clean with views of the wall. The food and service were both outstanding. Highly recommend!

Beautiful architecture, with great service and amazing food. Hotel provided a free transport to and from the Mutianyu Great Wall. Highly recommended to walk along the Great Wall and to sit the toboggan down. For those who enjoy hiking they should try hiking up from Bei Gou village where the Brickyard Retreat is located to the beginning of the Jiankou part of the Great Wall.
