📍Brico Melbourne, Carlton North - 4.4 ⭐️ out of 5. A gorgeous wine bar with many a bottle of wine to choose from and beautiful nibbles. We had the: ➖Iris bakery bread with cultured butter ($5pp) ➖Preserved peppers served with goat’s curd ($20) ➖Cavatelli with guanciale, peas and pecorino ($38) Such a beautiful place for an afternoon wine, the sun looked beautiful streaming through the windows and in the courtyard out back. The staff were fun and attentive and everything we ate was delicious. I love Iris the bakery so was thrilled to see their bread, always more delicious than I remember. The preserved peppers were delicious and a great accompaniment to the bread. I absolutely loved the pasta as well, it was perfectly al dente and the guanciale was flavourful and cooked well, not burnt at all which is often what I find with guanciale. It was a little expensive but again, as to be expected from a beautiful wine bar. They also have an upstairs private dining space here. Overall 4.4 ⭐️ out of 5.

Very cozy, casual, chic, intimate dining ... lots of flavours, sharing is the best ... a lot more to sample ... Liking their wine list ... awesome service to match. Acoustically awesome, considering the quaint dining area and the amount of patrons inside ... sounds absorption under the bentwood chairs, very thoughtful 🥂 I was the only two males amongst the plethora of about 16 female diners ... where are the men? 😊 Thank you to my foodie daughter for taking me there ...

We kicked off with the famous Iris Bakery bread with rich cultured butter. Hard to go wrong there. The squash with garlic cream was a surprise favourite — rich, smooth, and full of flavour. The octopus was perfectly cooked, with a lovely tang from the escabeche and a punchy aioli. Loved the beef skewers too! The pickles gave it just the right edge. Caillette in broth was comforting and well-seasoned. Steak was nicely done, though the portion was a bit modest. The fried apple and rhubarb pie with marscapone cream absolutely stole the show — crispy, warm, and not overly sweet. Such a cosy little spot! Would 100% come back for a relaxed long lunch or dinner.

My friends and I enjoyed a beautiful Christmas dinner here recently, in the private dining room upstairs. The set menu was absolutely delicious, balanced, and well spaced in terms of timing. We had excellent wine recommendations that also didn't involve any hint of upselling. I have never experienced such attentive service in a private dining room. I have been here before with my partner (which led me to return again), and being in the dining room was really something special. Highly recommend!

Brico has been on my “to try” list for a couple of months now and having read the amazing reviews I came in with high expectations, and I was not left disappointed. Believe the hype & reviews - food is absolutely on point, not an overly large menu but done excellently - every dish hit the mark - zucchini fritters with taramasalata were so moreish - sourdough with the anchovy boquerone starter is a match made in heaven - chickpea wrap with lamb was such a unique dish and absolutely delish We also had the duck main and radicchio, nashi pear & blue cheese salad which was also 10/10 all around. Service was masterful - excellent knowledge of their wine and menu. Great, considered wine list too.

Very disappointing experience I had a generally good experience with the food at Brico, but the service during peak time was quite disappointing. The timing felt extremely rushed, the server came over with the POS machine, which felt like indirect pressure to settle the bill before we had even finished our meal. What made it worse was being asked to move to the bar while we were still enjoying our dessert and wine, simply because the next reservation had arrived. Being relocated mid-meal felt abrupt and disrespectful to the dining experience. I understand the restaurant runs on a tight schedule, but this level of time pressure really affected the overall experience. I would recommend avoiding peak hours, as the service outside rush periods is noticeably more relaxed and enjoyable

A friend and I came to Brico for her birthday last week and overall had a very positive experience! We were very impressed with the extensive wine list, taking the opportunity to try several different wines which were all fab. I also tried Brico’s take on an aperol spritz, “Spritz”, which was great, although small and pricey! Though limited and on the more expensive side of things, the menu had some exciting things to try - I recommend the artichoke and ricotta pie. It was so good we ordered another portion of it! Some of the dishes did take a while, we were wondering if they had forgotten our last dish and by the time it arrived, we weren’t very hungry anymore (although we still ate it and it was very good!). The staff are friendly and professional and we felt very looked after. The atmosphere was perfect - very intimate and had a good buzz to it! We would have loved to have sat in the courtyard for a post-dinner drink but it was full (a good sign for a great place!) so we will have to come back another time!

Lovely new little local wine bar with delicious food. The first time in a long time that I've been to a venue where the owners and staff are super proud of their business and are keen to chat to customers. I feel like these days everywhere we go, despite how good the food is, the staff do their best to give you your food and aren't interested in even asking how you are. Despite being super busy last night, the team chatted to us about the drinks, food, how they built the restaurant, had a few laughs with us. We have amazing food venues in Melbourne, but what really makes the difference is how welcome the staff make you feel. Brico welcomed us with open arms, which is why we will be back. All of the food was delicious, the highlights for me was the tomato salad, the pork cutlet and the lemon verbena "Panda" Cotta. 😆 Also the infused verjus non alcohol drink was something different that was also delicious. Can't wait to visit again.
