Loved our recent stay at Canyon Campground! We were tent camping, and the spots are laid out nicely so that you don't feel too close to your neighbors. I also like that the sites are all equipped with their own bear boxes. The restroom was nice and clean as well, which is a huge plus.

This was our second time RV camping at this campground, only we brought friends with us this time. It’s nice and clean, the sites are spacey enough. We saw Elk hanging out in the campground, that was cool. It is very close to the lake, there’s a small store nearby as well as a RV dump site just across the campground entry. The campground does not have hookups, for those needing that perhaps look into Fishing Bridge. For us it was perfect! Registration is very helpful, make check in easy. The campground is not in a central part of the park so keep in mind that you’ll probably need to do lots of driving to get to the most popular places. It is close to Hayden valley though so that’s a plus. Thumb basin is also a short drive away so definitely make sure you stop there too. The only con is that generator use is limited to only 8am-8pm so that wasn’t very helpful when we were coming late from enjoying the park. There was an Instance where we were out all day and came back to the campsite around 8:45pm. I had the generator on so I could use some electricity quickly and the ranger came and told me to turn it off. So that was inconvenient when quiet time isn’t until 10pm. But overall everything else was great!

We stayed in Canyon Village for a week in August 2025. I loved its central location. It had great shower facilities and the bathrooms in the camping loops were always clean. We never had an issue with noise and never had to wait for showers. There was a great visitor center and general store and also a gas station. We would definitely stay here again.

It was a convenient location for us as we had family in the cabins at The Lake Hotel site. Clean bathrooms, large enough site. Fellow campers were respectfully quiet at night. Our stay would have been improved with warm water in the bathroom sinks, on site showers and electric hook up. Having the marina and picnic sites there was handy. Would be so lovely if they had kayak rentals. Food was available at The Lake Hotel dining room - expensive, and small portions. The canteen was more affordable. General stores all had the same products and were overpriced. I would bring more food the next time if I was going again. The park was beautiful and we were very happy and grateful for our experience there.

The overall campground is nice. Staff and service was excellent checking in. However, if you have an rv, travel trailer, or a truck camper, getting level in some of these sites can be very challenging. A a lot of these campsites are right on top of each other as well, so there is no privacy and almost feels like one big group site. I stayed in C loop at one of the inner loop campsites. It’s a very inexpensive campground in Yellowstone National Park and if you are looking for a quick place to pull over and sleep for a night, it’s not terrible. If you’re wanting a campground for longer term stays (more than one night) that is nicer, campsites more spaced out, and more level sites, I would recommend going with one of the National Park campgrounds somewhere else in the park. Bathrooms and campground facilities were clean and it was quiet at night which is a plus!

We had an amazing experience at this campground. We stayed for three nights and found it to be very nice and safe, with bear lockers at every campsite and new, clean bathrooms. The sites are well spaced for privacy without feeling isolated or unsafe. We even saw bison in the campground, which was incredible, they were calm and not aggressive as long as we didn’t bother them. There are also clean showers available at the lodges near Bridge Bay, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

We had a wonderful experience in Bridge Bay Campground. The sites we had were all amazing! Lots of trees for all of our sites, plus a great view of the lake at our 3rd site. The amenities were wonderful. We are definitely going to stay there again!

Google
This campground was great! It was well kept and pretty spacious. I personally recommend tent camping as I thought the spots were quite a bit better but to each their own, I'm sure there are plenty of views to go around (pictured is just 20yds from our site). Every site have a food storage container and bear proof box to put other things in. It's beautifully located just a short distance from Yellowstone Lake & the Bridge Bay Marina & General Store, it has breath taking mornings & evenings. Bathrooms & sinks only here, that you're never too far from, so bring a portable or be prepared to pay for a shower somewhere else. Xanterra has done an excellent job at up keep and the check in was really easy and the people were efficient & great to deal with. It was a very great experience!

Yelp
Out of our 18 day road trip, this was the worst campground we stayed at. It's in need of some TLC...big time! We had three campsites, which were all basically mud pits. The fire pits were useless because they were filled to the brim with rain water. Cramped sites and no privacy.

Yelp
We were there for two weeks ago, there is no hot water in the restrooms, the description says showers are available within in three miles but we found out upon arrival that there are no showers available anywhere within the park. I've camped at so many campgrounds, this was my worst camping experience. Given how cold the weather is hot water is essential specially during a pandemic. Super cold water doesn't encourage hand washing. Preventive measures were not adequate within the park or campsites. Tent sites are super small, we got lucky to found a spot that was clear but most sites were covered with grass. Campground is shady but for the same reason mosquitoes were terrible. Campground regulations are very strict to avoid bears, but can be hard if you are camping with kids.

Yelp
A good place for families and those with RVs. Our tent spot was 20 feet away from everyone else around us. We were on the edge of a drive through road and had headlights in our tent all evening. Could hear everyone walking by to the bathroom and dumpster. Some people stayed up late past 11pm and made noise and then others got up at 5am to cook breakfast and break down their camp. Not a good place to sleep. You feel so cramped. First few loops have no shade or tree privacy. Bathrooms were clean. We cleaned up a bunch of litter in our site when we moved in. Fine for one night stay as you move through the park. I wouldn't stay again but I appreciated the location and convenience.

Yelp
Campsites kinda close together and seemed very empty as it pertains to trees... i had read that most of them were cut down in the 80s(?). It was a cool campground with nice bathrooms but I prefer a bit more privacy and trees around.

Yelp
I had mixed feelings on staying at this campground after some of the reviews I've read but it was the only site I could reserve for 4 consecutive days. This was our first time to Yellowstone and was planned last minute. I have to say the inner circle of the campground was a bit cramped in spots but the outer circle was spacious and had many with ample trees. Our site exceeded all expectations aside from having a bit of a slope which many sites do. We were at the top of our loop with a lush green meadow right behind us. When we had checked in we were told that a grizzly had come through our site just a mere 2 days prior. While we didn't see another grizzly walk through our site, we did see a mama elk and her 3 babies walk in that meadow behind us. My daughters were so excited to see the babies so close. We also had 3 bull elks living at bridge bay our entire stay. The staff called them the 3 amigos. They went everywhere together and it was always at Bridge Bay. Many people struggled to see elk while everyone at Bridge Bay had an up close and personal experience with the 3 amigos.

Yelp
I stayed at Bridge Bay Campground in Yellowstone National Park, WY on 8/11/2009. It was my 1st time there. I was in my RV: The Black Pearl. My campsite was $20.35 back in 2009 but I'm sure it's more today. Yellowstone is beautiful.

Yelp
We arrived to our campsite (#39) late at night. They had simple instructions letting us know how to register even though no one was there. We arrived, set up camp and stayed for two nights. Our only complaint is that this campground was PACKED. We felt like we were all on top of each other. There were RV's/campers everywhere and while we're sure they were organized they just look liked they were stuck everywhere. Other than that we enjoyed this campground. We were close to the bathrooms which wasn't noisy or a problem at all. We didn't use the shower facility because it was four miles away but if you needed them, they were in the park. We talked with Judy at the main entrance who offered us good advice and answered all of our questions. She was really kind and helpful! We'd stay here again if we're back in Yellowstone!

Yelp
We stayed at Bridge Bay for 10 nights and it was great! The picnic benches were the typical wooden campground style but we covered them with seat and table covers (from Sportsmen's Warehouse). We used tape to attach them to the table and basically wrapped the ends so it was secure. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and there was a spot to wash dishes. The weather was cold at night and warm during the day. There were some rain storms on hikes so pack rain coats and warm clothes. The fire pits were good and the volunteer workers came and cleaned them out every few days. Wood and logs down by the bay are for the taking so you don't need to buy fire wood. If you do it was not expensive at the gate into the campground. Hot showers and laundry can be done at Fishing Bridge. The little market has some essentials if you need to get stuff during your stay. They have beer, chips, break, eggs, milk and s'mores stuff plus more. This campsite is also not too far from many cool hiking spots. We had a nightly visit from an Elk and saw many other animals. Well worth the money to camp/RV at this site.

Yelp
Crappiest campground I have every stayed in, and I am a VERY experienced camper (I'm talking tent camping, not an RV). There's no privacy. Very few trees between sites. Highway noise is bad. The bathrooms are too few to serve the hordes of campers. My site was gravel with some oil or gas stains on the only flat area that I could place my tent. They charged about $25/night for this, and I felt totally ripped off. All night, people walked within a few feet of my tent going to the bathroom. My tent was illuminated by the electric lights of said bathroom. When I arrived, I asked to switch spots since there were some marginally better ones nearby that hadn't yet been assigned for the day and were still vacant (I do realize they were expecting a full house that night), and they wouldn't help me out. It was so bad I left after one night and ate the $25 for the second night. NEVER stay here. It was so depressing it really brought down my whole Yellowstone experience. What a bummer. Why don't they plant some bushes between sites??

Yelp
Our family arrived and the reservation person had mistakenly had us arriving a day later. After a 22 hour drive With 5 kids I was exhausted and even though they said they were full they somehow found us a space. It was a bit inconvenient to move sites but we were just grateful they didn't turn us away for a mistake of the person taking our reservation. We were initially in Loop I and it was nice except for the uneven space to place our tent. We were on an angle all night. The next night we moved to loop H and it was better. The bathrooms aren't close and take special note that there are NOT enough bear storage bins for everyone. There may be one for every 4 or 5 sites. The host told us their bears were not like "California bears" as they didn't attempt to break into cars, so we were told to store our food in our vehicle. A little scary as we have seen the results of that at Yosemite and the Sequoias! Overall we had an amazing time and incredible sightings of wildlife!

Yelp
We got a site that was away from the crowded main area which was great. Had a lot of privacy and it was very quite as well. Lots of shade and trees to. The bathroom wasn't too far as well. Might be scary for kids though at night because it gets really dark and not many people around. It was still a great experience, definitely recommend requesting the camp site that is far from the crowded place in the woods.

Yelp
We are avid tent campers and love the idea of camping within a campground that has a decent amount of wildlife. We were not disappointed at all!! Great amount of Bison walk through and even take a snooze next to your tent! The Elk were also plentiful. Bathrooms were clean and very nice. Showering facilities were at Fishing Bridge, the next campground down the road. $4.20 per shower and the showering stalls were clean and private. Dusty and dirty conditions just follow you with Yellowstone and WY. Bring a broom or cordless vacuum. You will need it daily!! It is a drive from many of the attractions within Yellowstone, but well worth it. Now for the reason for the three stars.... Being and avid camper, I am well used to and versed with the "Host Campers" Unfortunately, these hosts were not well versed with the duties of the "Host Campers" This couple drove around in their golf cart with a write up ticket book in hand and wrote warnings and violations. Never once introduced themselves or even made contact with you once you broke their rules. They made me more uncomfortable than relaxed... Examples..... Day 1 hour 2, we set up camp and ran quickly to see Old Faithful... When we got back, one of our totes went missing. After getting a tad upset and thinking about what was in the tote I decided to check the nearest bear box for my tote. There it was! With a written warning from the "Host Campers" stating that I violated their rules pertaining to the "Leaving cooking utensils unattended and leaving food out." I had brand new, unused, frying pans and and 4 MRE's in that tote. So lesson learned... Second violation was on day 2... Came back into camp and we wanted to stop and get firewood. The registration was real backed up, probably 10 deep. We pulled past them and parked on the side of the road, out of the way of the trucks and trailers, and walked back to get our firewood. We waited about 15 minutes to get up to the cashier when my kids came up to me telling me that they had my truck moved and I was issued a violation for parking off the paved road and idling. I do not get upset easily but I was fuming at this point. The cashier asked how he could help me, I kindly stated you can start by telling the Host to stop writing violations to people that are just trying to be considerate to others. I told him the story and he shook his head and rolled his eyes but did and said nothing.... I was also told that the Host had stated that this was the second violation written to my campsite, the next will either be a fine or an escort out of the campground. The last thing that I saw was a young lady walk into her tent to change clothes. While she was doing that the Host came into her campsite and took her cooker that she had on her picnic table and lock it up in a bear locker and leave a violation notice on her table. When she came out of her tent the Host's were gone and the look on her face while she read the violation was priceless! This campground needs to train their host's to be "HOST'S" instead of hiring them to be law enforcement. All that being said, I'd still go back and stay here. I'd just be hoping that they have different camp host's.

Yelp
This can be a great campground if you get the right site. I requested a campsite back from the main highway and avoided the open, tree-less site area. We were in loop H and surrounding sites seemed good as well. We only had one small tent and a small car but the campsites would comfortably fit a family-sized tent. There were plenty of trees and the bathroom was nice as long as you accept that there aren't showers. We showered at Canyon Village after a day of exploring north of the campsite and it worked out perfectly. Bridge Bay had a small general store with firewood and ice for sale.

Yelp
Big campground with big differences between all the areas/loops. It was clean and good spots to put my tent. Some criticized how close the sites are...its on a highway in Yellowstone - expect people. If you want alone time better grab a backpack. Some sites have very limited parking- had to get creative to park 2 SUVs

Yelp
Great place to stay with RV. Loved the gift shop by the marina. I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Clean, well laid out and well educated and friendly staff. Really enjoyed our campsite and the heated bathrooms were a mangrove island of awesome on those cold, cold nights.

Yelp
The park was beautiful, saw lots of animals and wonderful geological features but the Campground had some of the strictest rules I've ever seen. Even all the way right down to how you parked your car on the campsite. All Vehicles could not be touching the dirt in anyway and our camper was too big for the camp spot even though we made reservations weeks in advance. Overall for the two days that we were there, we had 3 different types of citations written: one for leaving our personal bear proof cooler out, bringing a chainsaw to cut our own firewood, and for parking one tire on the dirt. When we go camping we go to enjoy ourselves not to be policed around so it was shocking to us how constricted we felt. When we checked in I asked two different park rangers that if we brought our own bear proof cooler, could it stay outside and I was told yes two times by two different rangers and written a citation when a third ranger came to our campsite. So I believe that not all park rangers are familiar with the rules they are supposed to enforce. The camping is cheaper compared to other campgrounds outside the park but is probably worth the extra money to stay in West Yellowstone or Gardiner to not be policed around like inside the park. We will be visiting the park again sometime but will probably support the local KOA instead.
