Very serene place. We stayed in a chalet, the shower could do with some maintenance, but overall we enjoyed the stay very much. The staff is absolutely great! There is a great atmosphere, very nice views on the river. Thank you for hosting us!

Very basic camp site. Stay here if you have to as a passthrough site. Skip if you can. Staff affable. If you're going for the view, walk the bridge - it's better. Not much more to say really.

Stayed early August. We needed a pitstop between Lusaka and Chipata. We were overlanding, the dedicated area is very basic… one communal fire pit area right next to the entrance. No electricity point available Told on arrival, no wood to buy - so we didn’t make a fire Shower water was tepid, not hot so I didn’t shower No WiFi, only up at the bar area Was told no river cruise available We left very early the next morning. Looking at other reviews, I see the camp responds quite rudely to constructive feedback…

Overlander review with rooftop tent and kitchen. $10 for camping (06/2025 rates) Awesome place to overnight. The new owners are absolutely amazing and they pouring their hearts into Bridge Camp. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. The food is of a high quality. Canoe trips down the Luangwa River must be booked a day in advance. Camp spots does not have power ports but everything can be charged if needed at reception. They have a pool and ice-cold beers and cokes. The owners are as involved in receiving and helping guests as the rest of the staff are. I will definitely make them my go to stop over for trips on the Great East Road.

Wonderful little spot overlooking the river. The staff made every effort to make our stay wonderful. The dinner they made for us was one of the best we’ve had on the trip. Toilet facilities were very nice and the had the donkey running to give us hot water.

We enjoyed our night at the Bridge Camp a lot! We planned on sleeping in our own tent but then got upgraded (for free!!!) to one of the really nice and cute chalets. The owners are really kind and dropped us at the small town so we could catch our bus to Chipata in the morning. The showers were hot, we enjoyed that a lot. The food was delicious! On the way between Lusaka and Chipata such a nice stopover. We would always come back to dip into the pool overlooking the river from above.

A functional rather than luxurious stopover campsite -15.00541°, 30.21499° This campsite is not in the South Luangwa National Park, but 275 kilometres away and close to Lower Zambesi National Park. This campsite near town of Mulamba and the bridge over the Luangwa River has picturesque views of the river and surrounding wilderness. In the past, the campsite was not rated well because of its former drunken owner. New management has taken over and is improving the campsite. The facilities are fairly basic. There are small cabins and sites for tents, two open kitchens and two ablution blocks with showers. Ask in advance for hot water. They accept electronic payment cards. No Wi-Fi reception. The campsite is next to the road. Traffic noise is quite audible at night. Apart from the yet-to-be-filled swimming pool with nice view over the river, there is nothing else to do at the campsite. Its charm lies in its simplicity and natural surroundings. The name of the campsite refers to the Bridge over the Luangwa River, but it is actually a bridge campsite between Lusaka city, Chipata and South Luangwa National Park. This journey cannot be done in one day in daylight. Bridge camp is a good stopover campsite. Recommended.

Stayed here on the way east and again on the way back. Staff are super friendly and helpful (helped us with car trouble), food in the restaurant is prepared with love. The campsite area is not the most idyllic, but the restaurant/bar/pool area is pretty, ablutions are great private bathrooms. All in all a fine place to break journeys or maybe even to spend some time to explore the area.
