After a day of walking around sea world we decided to get some clamp chowder and shrimp and Brigantine delivered! We ordered the clamp chowder and cocktail shrimp from the happy hour menu. There is plenty of food to share and we were happy with the quality and value. We decided to split a fish and chips plate which was also delicious. We washed it all down with some Arnold Palmers. Service was a little slow at first but when they did get to us they did a great job.

Very enjoyable late lunch at Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar. Ordered simple fare - 2 bowls of Clam chowder, an order of flatbread & an order of Calamari, accompanied by a draft Pacifico. Portions of each item were generous, Calamari was exceptional. Pacifico was served cold and in an ice cold glass. Our server - Carolyn, was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, except for a very ‘lively’ large group nearby. We were made to feel welcome and taken good care of by Brigantine staff. Restrooms were spotless and supplies were in good order. Although we sat in the bar area, by the fireplace, the open balcony doors and afternoon breeze made for a most pleasant environment. We received good value for our afternoon meal, in a very comfortable setting. We’ve come to expect good quality food and attentive staff at the Brigantine on Shelter Island and we weren’t disappointed.

We visited for happy hour, drawn in by the enticing menu and Brigantine’s strong reputation. While our server was friendly and attentive, unfortunately, the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. The calamari, which was recommended, was over-fried and lacked flavor—easily one of the most disappointing versions I’ve had. The margarita was difficult to drink; we ended up leaving most of it behind. The ahi slider was drenched in sauce, overpowering the tuna, and the wagyu slider was overcooked and chewy. The shrimp cocktail was fresh, but fairly average. Overall, it was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences we’ve had in San Diego, and sadly, we won’t be returning. Brigantine may be the most overrated restaurant in SD.

Crab cakes & clam chowder were really good! Service was nice and friendly. Would come here again. Wish they had a little more options or variety with food though

Google
We came here knowing from other reviews we were bound to have a great experience so we came hungry! After six courses we were stuffed but so happy. 1st - bread course 2nd - baked oysters 3rd - split a bowl of chowder 4th - crab fondue (only thing I would maybe skip in the future) 5th - entrees: bacon wrapped crab stuff shrimp and the mahi (both were fantastic, especially the accompanying sauces and the veggies were fresh and delicious) 6th - strawberry cheesecake (we had to take to go for later!) Everything was really delicious. I especially loved the mahi with the lemon beurre blanc. Our service was top notch. Loved the cocktails and sangria too. Really not enough great things to say!

Google
Wish I could've tried any of the food but the service was so slow and bad that we left and ate somewhere else! We did get to finish some cocktails and appetizers, but after being seated for an hour and 20 minutes, inquiring about our food, and the impossible task of flagging down our waiter to send the bill after telling her we were here celebrating a birthday, we decided to pay and leave. Honestly such a shame, considering we enjoyed the drinks and were looking forward to what we ordered. The oysters were a 4/5 I enjoyed the horseradish sauce. The calamari was over cooked and weird in texture but I also enjoyed the sauce it came with so that was a 2/5. Though the restaurant is Bayside, there isn't any real views of the bay, just the parking lot and some docked boats. Atmosphere was a 3/5 in general but the service was just THAT bad.

Google
We came for happy hour. I called ahead because I didn't see the Happy Hour hours or menu. On the phone they said HH was until 5, but when we got there they said it was until 6 pm. There was paid parking until 6 pm. We tried the Brig margarita with salt on the rim. The deep friend artichoke. The ladies bathroom had two stalls and was clean, a bit dim. Friendly server.

Google
The special halibut dish was so over cooked, I questioned if it was even halibut. The crab stuffed tiger shrimp were deep fried and toasty toasty brown. They were tough and little moisture was left. Other selections brought out around the restaurant, looked better. Restaurant is very pretty inside and had a good vibe.

Yelp
Ooooohhhh, the Brigantine. Yeah, I would say that four stars is about on point for this particular Brig. It certainly is the best of the bunch, (I've been to quite a few of them over the years) and always have a pretty decent time. Some of my faves are the fish tacos which I think could go toe to toe with anyone in town. Crazy right?! Not only are they good here but the quality is very consistent from location to location. There's no knocking the chowder and they mix a mean vodka martini. Plenty of local beer to choose from and all at a decent price. The bar area will fill up quickly but it is always a pretty solid crowd. Not too dressy but nobody is showing up smelling like fish fresh off one of the local charters either. Now that I have finally taken the time to write this review I realize I don't come here nearly enough.

Yelp
Mostly sit outside on the small deck and mac out on happy hour appetizers. Always tasty grub and prompt friendly service. Great fish tacos, fried or grilled, oysters on half shell, killer clam chowder... The Brig is an excellent talented restauranteur chain that knows what us locals love. What's not to like?

Yelp
Great service by Laura and cute, cozy atmosphere with fireplace going. If you're there in a Tuesday, you're in luck! Not only do they have a Happy Hour menu, but they have a Taco Tuesday menu, too! The oysters are delicious, and you have 4 options: oysters on the 1/2 shell, oyster shooters, vodka oysters, or Oysters Rockefeller. The swordfish taco was a little dry and overcooked, so I'd get a different taco next time. The Irish Coffees were delicious! It's a great place for a little group get together. :)

Yelp
Not knowing the area and many places are closed on Monday we tried Brigantines on the waterfront for the first time and I'm glad we did. Great service, relaxed ambiance and both of our fish dishes were excellent.

Yelp
What a great time! Came here for happy hour on a Sunday evening and we're blown away! So many choices of drinks and appetizers for only $7 each and all were delicious. I had the house salad, husband had clam chowder and then we shared the artichokes. Delicious! Hubby had mule that he said was great and the service couldn't have been better. New iced tea was brought before my old one was finished and plates were cleared almost immediately. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
It's really a 4 star place because I have found some of the food hit and miss but don't get me wrong. I love the Brig and have gone to this and the other locations for many, many years. I always sit in the bar area. It is just more fun there. Kids are welcome in the bar, by the way. The fish taco has always been and still is the best in San Diego. It is terrific. And if you like spice, use the bottle of the Brig's own hot sauce. It has a great flavor and it is really not that spicy. The mud pie is a little hit and miss. Sometimes it is massive and sometimes it is on the small side. I could be wrong but I am guessing it is made offsite. Good happy hour, too, with specials on drinks and a very nice appetizer selection. I have almost always, always, always had great service here. There is a lot to like about this place.

Yelp
We came here once before and decided to come on our 45th anniversary which didn't disappoint! We made a toast to each other and ordered whatever we wanted knowing that the food was fantastic! We started with a Crab Cake and that was great! 2 cups of Clam Chowder and that was all good! My wife ordered two Lobster tails and I ordered the Scallops! Then we split the Lobster and Scallops and had a wonderful meal! Then our server brought us a crème brûlée for dessert! Now our tummies are full! Thank you so much For a wonderful 2 hr dinner out on the balcony Overlooking the Marina at Shelter Island!

Yelp
The ambiance perfectly matches their location on Shelter Island. Good energy, and not trendy. They have a private parking lot, but it's small and you won't always find an open spot. The staff is friendly and professional. The food is above average; to the point that I sometimes actually crave it. The reason they're getting four stars though is because of their prices. It's not super expensive like touristy Gaslamp, but I've never left there feeling like my check was on par with my meal.

Yelp
The Brigantine in Point Loma is popular with the local Portuguese fishing families who live in the area. It is located right at the beginning of shelter Island on the right. The dining room itself is upstairs. If you need to use the elevator, you have to go towards the back---it is a bit difficult to locate. Although the Brigantine is part of a local restaurant group, I think the food might be slightly better at the La Mesa branch. The bar in Point Loma is very spacious, so it seems there is always somewhere to sit, unlike La Mesa, which crowds up by 4:30 pm each day. In addition,, the servers in Point Loma are not as pleasant of efficient than those in La Mesa---not sure why. Even if I sit in the bar, I will to order off the dinner menu, which is more extensive .The dinner menu comes out at 4:30 pm. I recommend any of the fish dishes or the prime rib.

Yelp
I actually came here twice...as it was so much easier to get into this location then the one on the waterfront. I loved the ambiance, the staff was great. The first time I had the spinach salad and the crab cake...from the starters menu...both were amazing. Hit the spot! The second time had the spinach salad and the Crispy Coconut Macadamia Shrimp...and again, both were amazing. Will add to this to my list of food spots, the next time I am in the area!!! I am definitely a fan!

Yelp
It had been quite a while since I had been to Brigantine, not for lack of anything except there are so many restaurants in San Diego (lucky us!). It's a staple for a reason. The menu options are classic, nothing too trendy, just delicious steaks and seafood and sides. We started with the crab and shrimp fondue, which is gooey and decadent. Then, I had a big ol' steak with a blue-cheese truffle crust that was cooked perfectly. Served with mashed potatoes and veg. Plus, at the time I went, there were some special desserts, including a take on strawberry shortcake, which was a not-too-sweet way to end the meal. Our service was excellent. I'd make a reservation because it gets pretty busy. It's nice to know that a place you enjoyed back in the day still hits all the same high notes years later. That kind of consistency is impressive.

Yelp
We've been coming here for decades but it had been awhile. My husband wanted to celebrate his birthday lunch with the discount coupon he received in the mail so we arrived at 2:00 on a chilly spring day and sat as close to the fire as possible! If you haven't been to the brig before, the decor is outstanding and the space is inviting and comfortable. They know how to design their restaurants. I decided to try something new, the surf and turf tacos with skirt steak and shrimp with coleslaw and kettle chips for $20.50. They have a number of entrees with skirt steak, which is a favorite of mine. The tacos were stuffed full of the steak and shrimp but the combo together was t to my liking. The hot spicy sauce on the shrimp tasted like a can of tomato paste with something very hot added and it was a bit slimy and it detracted from the taste of the steak. I'd separate the surf from the turf and serve one of each taco if I were to order it again, and just have the shrimp grilled. The corn tortillas are chewy and flavorful and divine and the taco never fell apart as I took bites. That never happens!!! Outstanding!! Our server could have been a bit more attentive at refilling ice tea and it took awhile to take our orders and get our food. Hmmmm... maybe it was the late lunch understaffed. I don't know, but it wasn't their normal attentiveness. Hence the four stars My husband had their swordfish with the avocado butter and rice risotto and broccolini. This is a mainstay and he almost always orders it. Delicious as usual! Prices are up like everywhere else but you can't beat the ambiance here. Give it a try!! And you MUST EAT THE MUD PIE!!!

Yelp
When in Point Loma treat yourself on Shelter Island to the Brigantine! Just like the one in Del Mar.. Fabulous service & delicious seafood!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was fantastic. We really enjoyed the seafood platter ($130) and cheese fondu and the brussel sprouts. AND the surprise celebratory coffee ice cream cake was incredible. That was a perfect end to our meal. Fish portion were thick and the risotto were flavorful

Yelp
Everything about this place is excellent, great food and service, Perfect for all occasions, we went for my daughters birthday and left very satisfied. The place is elegant with very positive ambiance. I'd definitely recommend this place for your next family event or a date night.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot with multiple locations that serves up some pretty good oysters (raw and rockefeller). I'd recommend the signature grilled marinated swordfish to pair with some oysters as appetizers. The cocktails are also quite good. Service was good despite some staffing shortage issues. Definitely recommend giving this spot a try if you're staying nearby!

Yelp
This is a nice peaceful place to have lunch or dinner in the heart of Point Loma San Diego. The interior is warm and comfortable with dark wood like you'd imagine on the interior of an old wooden ship. The walls are adorned with photos and paintings of boats, fisherman, etc and a nice fireplace glows in the background. The chowder is always amazing, and I come here specifically for it. I also love their spinach salad with salmon as a protein topper. The menu has something for everyone and the location is great! Especially for outdoor dining. This is the second place I brought my wife when we were still dating...! The first was where we met. Much love for this place. Hope you enjoy as well! The service has been consistently great for the past 20 years I've been coming here!

Yelp
They have a horrible happy hour. aps are 7 and so is the beer. place looks like from the 7o s they need to go back to 5$ drinks. don't go to this place

Yelp
Came here with family a few days ago. Service was attentive and nice. The vibe was high class so not good for casual outing. Oysters were DELICIOUS. My main dish was the mahi, it was okay 7/10. Edit: actually really kid friendly: fun menus + color crayons, reasonable serving size and prices.

Yelp
Great seafood dinner! Ate outside on the balcony which overlooks the parking lot and Harbour in the distance. Comfortable white table cloth service. Server was friendly and helpful. My husband started with shrimp cocktail and I started with crabcake. For entrees, my husband had New York steak whule I enjoyed the jumbo sea scallops. All food was delicious and presented well! A nice dinner out!

Yelp
First time guests. We had reservations on a Friday night at 6:15pm. We arrived 15 min early and were quickly seated. They give you the inside or out, booth or table. We went with the booth. It was not busy. Dress code, was a mix between casual and business casual. They have ample parking space. If you have reservations at 6, that's when the meters DONT require payment! 6pm til the following morning. So you can park there and leave your car if you wanted to spend the rest of the night in Shelter Island. Just no overnight parking. Our waitress was friendly and made sure to check on us when necessary. You are given free bread with whipped butter as you look over the menu. I believe it was brown and white bread. For our appetizer, we ordered the crab and shrimp fondue. This didn't have chunks of seafood in it. I'm assuming it was blended all together cause you can taste it in the fondue. It was served with a side of toasted garlic bread and that was great. Even delicious on its own. We ordered the marinated swordfish. It was cooked perfectly and is a great choice if you don't want anything heavy. It had broccolini and risotto. The wagyu burger wasn't too heavy as well. We ordered it medium well, but it did come out as medium rare which was fine as well but if you are picky, you may want to double check once you receive it. It came with truffle fries which was good as well. Everything was well seasoned and portions were perfect.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went here for a little Friday date night. Made reservations for 7 and it was packed in there. We started off with some cocktails of the Spicy Margarita and Trader Mort's Mai Tai type which were both delicious. We had the Crispy Coconut Macadamia Shrimp as an appetizer which was sooo good with all the chopped vegetables and yummy sauce that brings a ton of flavors together in each bite. By the time we got to our huge salads we'd also filled up on the tasty fresh bread. The salads were both amazing and like legitimate meals rather than something that makes you feel like you just licked your front lawn. Brigantine is great. Would recommend bringing anyone here for a nice meal.

Yelp
The Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi was not good. The parmesan sauce tasted bad. The carrots and green beans had so much butter cooked into them they were not edible. I was surprised why this location after I ate there had poor reviews compared to the other locations. I wish I had saw Yelp first. I would have tried Little Italy instead. When I first walked in with my husband they asked if he had a reservation. Their open table said closed so we just showed up to an empty restaurant at 3:30pm today. We were told we could not sit at the nice restaurant side because we didn't have a reservation. There was one couple in the entire room. We were directed to go to the loud bar area. If we had not paid for parking I would have left. It was loud from music and had TVs on of women's volleyball. Basically women with thongs up their butts while we tried to eat. The calamari is almost as good as La Mesa but not quiet, and the potato skins I would not order again. I wish I had known Ketch was across the street with a nice view of the water. I would have gone there instead.

Yelp
Went on a lovely Sunday evening (6:00PM) and sat on the balcony with a view of the lot and the marina. Ordered a lavender cocktail and share a dozen oysters (Kumeyaay and some oysters from Virginia), octopus and clams. Everything was delicious. The Kumeyaay oysters were sweeter than the other. Enjoyed my lavender cocktail as well. Our server took awhile to come and the manager was the one to went ahead to bring our waters. Inside was a bit busy at the time. Lots of metered parking at the lot. I was a but confused with the entrance as I have never been in this location. It is to the left of the boat shop, facing Shelter Island Dr.
google avatar

Yelp
Brigantine has a beautiful waterfront view. It's located on Shelter Island on a pier overlooking San Diego Bay. The interior has a wooden nautical theme with lots of accents related to the sea. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. The menu is of course seafood as well as some steak and pasta options. They serve delicious New England style clam chowder. My meal choice was the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi with parmesan risotto & chef's vegetables. All cooked perfectly. The service is also top-notch. With the excellent location right off the water, you can expect the prices to be on the higher end of the scale.

Yelp
Love coming here for happy hour. Always a pleasant experience. I had an excellent server today, Paige. She was very attentive and genuine. Thank you, Paige!

Yelp
This is probably more of a 3.5 but the only thing I had a problem with here was just quality of food. They have decent prices , great service, and a great atmosphere but I just wasn't super impressed with the food taste and how it was prepared . It's definitely a local spot and I wanted to love it but I think they just need to up their freshness or something of the sort. The oysters were small and just not high quality in my opinion, pork chop was somewhat basic and coconut shrimp just not quite put together well. Give em a try it is a local spot and has been around forever and see what you think !

Yelp
Came here for happy hour on a weekday! The happy hour area near the bar was pretty crowded and the actual dining room was pretty empty, so seemed like most customers were there for happy hour. Great prices! $6 happy hour means everything for $6 including the Brig margarita, the sliders served with french fries, the house salad, and 3 oysters. If you're specifically looking for an oyster happy hour, I think there are other places around town that could probably serve you better happy hour oysters for cheaper (you're looking at $2 per oyster here and the oysters here were a little...slimy?), but definitely had a well-rounded experience here with a cozy ambiance, friendly service, and good food all-around. Came around holiday season and they had holiday decorations up which was a plus too! Parking was easy but have to pay a small fee for the meters. Right next to the Point Loma pier, so great to come here on a date night and walk by the waterfront or grab some gelato/beer afterward.

Yelp
First time visiting the Brigatine in Point Loma. I have been to other Brigantine's, mainly the Imperial Beach and Coronado locations. The ambiance of this Brigantine is what you expect of a fine seafood restaurant, a classy nautical feel. While I enjoy the other locations, this one is better. Fast forward, the service is outstanding with the staff friendly, efficient, and attentive to the customer. Seating is ample with a small outdoor area, indoor are both tables and booths, and the bar area is quite large... plus the bar has its own separate outdoor seating area, again small but it's there. The food and drink are excellent and to the high standards of the Brigantine family of restaurants. Overall this is a neat restaurant, so ahoy there... set sail for the Point Loma Brigatine and drop anchor for a spell or two at this fine restaurant.

Yelp
I stumbled into Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar on a Sunday evening, just looking for a quick bite and some decent oysters. A friendly staff greeted me, and I promptly seated myself at the bar. It's a cozy restaurant located right on the Marina with indoor/outdoor seating. They had a happy hour oyster special, so I ordered nine blue points, and they were great. The perfect amount of brine and no fishy taste you get with cheap ones. I'm headed back later this week for round 2!

Yelp
This was the first time visiting Brigantine. We were in the mood for lobster. We were seated outside with a bit of a view of the marina. The food was very good and I really liked my margarita Our server was Skylar. She was one of the top 5 servers we've been lucky enough to have serve us. She was friendly, courteous and accommodating. We will return.

Yelp
We came as a party of 5 for happy hour and Taco Tuesday because I thought I recalled hearing they ran great specials. There's nothing special about a small (dry) slider + mushy undercooked fries for $7, and the steak tacos were cold and, again, at $6 it wasn't a great deal. The various sliders and tacos we tried, plus some drinks, which were ok, except the house Pinot Noir which was hardly drinkable, added up to a pretty penny overall and left a lot to be desired. Definitely didn't feel like we got a good bang for our buck and our server hardly touched our table or perhaps I would have sent a thing or two back. Wish we had chosen a different place for dinner, as I don't dine out much and feel like we did not get nearly our moneys worth. Pretty dissatisfied and disappointed.

Yelp
Nanome was excellent! Great service and wonderful food. We never go wrong here! The salad, chowder and oysters are delicious!

Yelp
Why dine anywhere else? This place is by far my favorite restaurant in SD. While on vacation, we were able to get reservations for 11 without a problem. The recent facelift matches the dining experience price. Quality throughout the entire experience. The octopus appetizer was incredible. The hummus bed it lied upon garnished with grilled veggies added flavor to a perfect cut and cooked piece of octopus. The fondue plate didn't disappoint either. For dinner, I went with the swordfish steak, the Mrs with a crusted mahi mahi, and our friends tried the ahi tuna. Hands down, the swordfish stole the show. I've been eating this meal for over 20 years at various places and this establishment wins gold. Fantastic cut, but even better flavoring and side pairing. I'm drooling talking about it. You'll just have to try it fire yourself. Dessert was on point. Lava cake was to die for. Drinks were tasty - jalapeno margarita had plenty of flavor, yet lacked a alcohol punch. Wine was so so. Service was amazing. Rita and her team provided outstanding service. A must go to place in SD.

Yelp
Best Happy Hour on Shelter Island! Taco Tuesdays are amazing! Staff and service are great! Fun local boaters and dock workers make this place legit!

Yelp
On a cloudy Sunday, my football team is not in the playoffs. I wanted to eat somewhere good & delicious, I remember this spot in shelter island. Service was on Point & atmosphere is great. I order my usual side, calamari strips, those are on point. I was craving for a chicken sandwich & heard they had the best. Wow, I was blown away with the chicken sandwich

Yelp
Soooo good! Everytime we come to Shelter Island, it's a must!! Seafood and service is amazing and so close to all the sites

Yelp
It is more like 3.5 rating. We made a reservation and was seated promptly. For parking, it was metered until 6pm for 7 days a week. We didn't get a table with a view because there were a few large parties that night. Service: 4/5 given they were busy. There were 2 servers taking turns checking on us. Food: 3.5/5 we love the appetizers more than the main course. Highly recommend the oysters on the shell and the calamari. The shrimp and crab Cobb salad was yummy but had too much dressing. The fish dishes were were bland. Drinks: 3/5 the strawberry margaritas was watered down. We will still go back for happy hours to try other appetizers. Maybe go to Del Mar or Coronado restaurant for a better view.

Yelp
The Brigantine should THANK me for not taking a photo of the grotesque and disgusting piece of lab meat they tried to serve me as a, $52," Filet Mignon." It was an insult to my intelligence that they actually thought they could fool their paying customers by serving that garbage. I never send things back. My friend and I were both perplexed by what we were looking at. It was bright pink and it looked like a mix of hamburger meat and chuck roast. I took one god forsaken bite and it was no steak. I am convinced reataurants are trying to cut corners by underperforming and gouging customers. Service- The waitress legit told me I shouldn't have eaten it. Girl, I didn't eat it. I cut it up because I could not believe my eyes. I took one bite and I regreter every minute of it. Save your hard earned money. If you order the filet- dissect the hell out of it. What they served me was embarrassing.

Yelp
My wife and a I have frequently been to this location and it's been about 5 months since we last visited... We were there last week and I have to say we were very disappointed in the fish tacos they served us.... I couldn't believe how chincy they were,, I mean I thought it was a joke .. there was nothing to it. a very thin slice of fish and a sprinkle of lettuce/cabbage... for $8.... Cmon man !! if I was the manager or restaurant owner I would never have had that leave the kitchen... there are plenty of other establishments that would put this fish taco to shame.... we also got the beef sliders and although they taste good it was also very plain and no such presentation for either one... when patrons go out and spend their hard earned money at least serve something worthwhile !!! sorry,,, I do love this place but I can't believe times would be this tough for a restaurant like this to serve us what they did. I wish I would've taken a picture... it would have made my review even more stronger.

Yelp
It's a super cozy restaurant with great service. My wife and I came from out of town. We heard this is one of the best places in SD, and it exceeded our expectations! My wife and I ordered a few cocktails and sat in the dining room. We split the crab and shrimp fondue, which was amazing. We also ordered the halibut special and the swordfish. The halibut was good, but the swordfish was the best I have ever had. The main reason I am giving five stars is the excellent service. We went on a Monday, and it was busy, but the service was great! Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. A friendly teenage server assistant named Lily was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to meet our needs. A fantastic experience overall. We will be returning next time we are in San Diego!

Yelp
Food was soooo good! Chicken cordon bleu was very tasty and the risotto on the mahi mahi had a hint of lemon.

Yelp
Come here all the time and today, Sunday, 4/7/24 service was terrible. Server blamed kitchen but others who came after us got their food before us. And when server was asked why food is taking so long (30 minutes) she got an attitude. It's ok, we were going to order more food but didn't have time to wait another 30 minutes for food.

Yelp
While it was not a "blew me away " dining experience, I couldn't find a reason not to give 5 stars. It was a very good meal. The food was good, fresh and tasty. The portion sizes generous. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, a great date spot. The service was spot on, the server very pleasant. I started out with 6 raw oysters for an appetizer. They were fresh and tasty and not so large as to be tough to swallow. My wife ordered the cheese dip, (delicious) with toasted bread, which we wound up sharing because it was so large. In fact it would probably be enough for 3-4 if we took the server up on her offer to bring more toast. The macadamia encrusted Mahi-mahi was delicious (so said my wife), while I did the unthinkable, to which I confess here and now: I ordered pork chops in a seafood restaurant! Oh well, I was not sorry. The dish had not 1, but 2 chops, atop mashed potatoes and covered in gravy with carrots on the side. Awesome comfort food! We both crushed our dinners and left happy. There was no room for dessert.

Yelp
We had a lovely meal at Brigantine over the summer, we were there visiting family and our niece exclaimed she wanted to try 'real seafood' so we made a reservation for dinner. We started with oysters on the half shell and a plate of steamed mussels. All was very tasty and well presented. My niece ordered the grilled marinated swordfish, my brother had the crab stuffed jumbo prawns and I opted for the jumbo shrimp & grits. The food was good, everyone enjoyed their meal and we definitely took home leftovers. I opted for a 4 out of 5 star review because of the service: we were seated right next to the kitchen, even though we made reservations in advance, which was disappointing. The waitstaff seemed to bring our food with an urgency that said "we need to flip this table as quickly as possible" - even though the restaurant never quite filled up. We tried to make it a special evening for my niece by letting the staff know this was her first real seafood dining experience, but she couldn't have cared less. Go for the food, definitely. But if you can, skip the fancy, full service meal and opt for the Happy Hour prices in the seated area of the bar. The wait service will probably be more what you'd expect.
