"Mere steps from the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village, Bright Angel has history in spades. Conceived by architect Mary J. Colter (who designed several other structures in the park), the rustic lodge looks from the outside as it did when it opened in 1935, though the 37 rooms have been updated and—if not exactly luxurious—are cozy and clean, with shared bathrooms and standard hotel carpeting and comforters. The 50 one-bedroom log cabins have more modern amenities, such as Keurig coffeemakers and satellite TV, and a handful of them sit right on the rim. Don’t miss the fabulous floor-to-ceiling fireplace in the main lounge, where the canyon wall’s geological layers are re-created, more or less to scale, using the same rock, from the 2-billion-year-old Zoroaster granite at the bottom of the canyon to the 250-million-year-old Kaibab Limestone at the top. Just be sure to find a spot early: The building is usually packed with visitors gawking at the jaw-dropping views or gathering for popular mule rides and guided hiking tours down the Bright Angel Trail."

We booked really early so the price wasn't terrible. Loved being right on the south rim. The rooms were super cute and very clean. Appreciated the fans since no air conditioning, but it was very comfortable with the fans on. Would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to several good dining places and ample parking at night after day visitors have left. Highly recommend.

I'm not sure there are enough great adjectives to describe Bright Angel. We feel fortunate to have found this place and grateful for the rim cabin with a view that we stayed in. The cabin was roomy, clean, cozy, and did I mention the view - open the curtains and there is the Grand Canyon, just steps away. Walk out your cabin door and you are on the rim trail. The cabins do not offer a/c, only a ceiling fan, so I'm not sure how it would be in the heat of the summer, but it was perfect for our visit at the beginning of June. The lodge offers two restaurants, a bar, a large gift store, and a shop with ice cream, coffee and snacks. The casual breakfast/lunch/dinner restaurant is just okay and not consistent. Breakfast was good one day and cold the next. The Arizona Steakhouse, however, is fabulous! We ate two dinners and a lunch there. High quality food and service that was the best of our entire trip. Overall, I would call our stay at Bright Angel, OUTSTANDING!

Google
I was stunned not only by the view of the Grand Canyon from the window of my cabin but also by the beautiful condition of my renovated room. The bathroom is sparkling and modern. The TV is large with many cable channels offered. The bedroom is large and always temperate even with no air conditioning available. The restaurant was superb and was NOT overpriced! Parking was readily available though the property was sold out during my 2-night stay. The morning of my hike down the Bright Angel Trail to Indian Gardens all I to do was step out my door and walk 100 yards to the trailhead -- so awesome!!! This lodging is well worth the price!

I stayed at Bright Angel Lodge with a friend in early June - I've visited the South Rim before but this was my first time staying at Bright Angel. The Lodge lobby is beautiful, and check-in was quick. The lobby staff was friendly and helpful with answering questions. The main lodge building has a gift shop, small museum, cafe (Harvey House Cafe, reviewed separately), restaurant (Arizona Steakhouse), bar/lounge, and coffee/snack shop (Bright Angel Fountain), so there are plenty of options for food and other things without going elsewhere, which is very convenient. ||The room was in the Bucky Lodge building - it's close to the main lodge building and contains a number of units, though it's not really close to the rim, which I knew would be the case. Ours was accessed from an interior corridor. The room, with two beds (queen + twin), was larger than I'd expected. There was no other chair or desk, but there was a small dresser, a mini-fridge (no freezer compartment), coffeemaker, and small closet. The bathroom was a bit small but that was to be expected. There's no A/C so the small fan in the room was helpful. The bed was comfortable, and the place appeared to be clean and well-maintained. The unexpected surprise was that our room actually had a small, partial view of the rim from the window, past a couple of other buildings closer to the rim. ||A potential negative is that there is limited parking near Bright Angel Lodge so you may have to search for awhile for a parking space and it may not be especially close to your room or cabin. I was fortunate in locating a good space on the two times I needed to find one.||I found Bright Angel Lodge to have everything I expected and needed for my South Rim stay, and I'd gladly stay there again.

Google
I had an excellent stay at the Bright Angel Lodge! I chose this property because of its unparalleled location at the Grand Canyon and its relative affordability. I am highly satisfied with the friendly and excellent service provided by the staff, the comfort and charm of the room, and again--the location! Being right at the rim of the canyon is just incredible. The value was the best available for Grand Canyon Village. I stayed in a room with shared showers and no air conditioning. The shower was very clean and available when I needed it, and a fan was provided, so it wasn't unbearable. Just consider it part of the charm of this kind of property--it really feels like it belongs here, given the location. I had lunch here one day, and then breakfast the next, and the food was of good quality. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel!

Google
Beds' width is little too small for two people. No complaints otherwise. Right next to the canyon. You cant beat that. Well maintained public spaces. Clean rooms/aisles/restrooms. Shared shower is little inconvenient but that is ok since they are clean and priced reasonably. Highly recommended. This is the first place I will look for lodging for my next visit also..

Google
The USP is the fantastic location and the reasonable prices. You are just meters away from the South rim of the Grand canyon, and you don't have to seek out any spot for sunrise views- its just awesome outside. Very conveniently located near the shuttle stops for both the village loop as well as the Hermits rest trail. The trail of time and the Rim loop are right there, as is the start of the Bright angel trail head. The cttages are small, but fine for a couple. A third person (on a roll-away bed, provided on request ) will cramp the space. As mentioned, there's no A/C, but we didn't feel the need in early June. The restaurants are fine, as is the souvenir shop. Staff was courteous and helpful.

Google
Just had my first stay at Bright Angel Lodge and am already dreaming of my next visit. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is spectacular. In addition, nothing is compromised or taken for granted just because of the location - the rooms are super clean and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
A top-notch location right on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We stayed in one of their cabins and the location was spectacular. Wake up and you are right there with a full view and steps away from the action. I read that some cabins have shared showers or bathrooms. Our cabin had a private bathroom and shower in the room which is something one may want to look into before booking. A very important note: the cabins are rustic meaning no AC, dated interior and furnishings, and dark. Not a big deal as you are there to see the canyon, but good to set your expectations beforehand.

Yelp
We made a cross country roadtrip and decided last minute to book a stay here. Booked same day through a different website for $288. Checked in at 1:45 am. Took a quick nap to wake up to the sunrise right outside of our room at 5:30. The rooms are older and have been updated with paint. Chairs were a bit dirty, but for this view you can't beat it! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Highly recommend. First things first. I do not have a TV or a shower in my room. Showers are dorm like and down the hall. TV I don't care- haven't missed it. This is the place to stay. Walk out four steps and the Grand Canyon is greeting you. There are restaurants, gift shops, tours, bars, art studios, all in walking distance. I was staying out of the park and changed that immediately. Stay here you won't be disappointed you won't regret it. Derek is amazing. He made my stay so much better with his recommendations of spots to check out. I recommend the Mule Ride however I was scared during it. And I did the dessert tour. I liked it because it spared me the drive and got the history behind everything.

Genevieve M.

Yelp
Rustic, comfortable and a few steps away from the Grand Canyon rim. The room itself was clean and comfortable. We opted for the room with a private bathroom as I am way past the dorm style bathrooms age and was glad I did. The room had decent closet space which was a nice surprise. The lodge itself is a short 1-3 min walk away which has a decent gift shop and restaurant and where you check in. Parking is a little tricky as it is open parking (free) and snagging a spot close to where you may want to be may not happen.

Yelp
I decided to do an overnight at the Grand Canyon after hiking Bright Angel and stayed here at the lodge. Bright Angel Lodge was designed by architect Mary E.J. Colter and built in 1935. It was built to accommodate those looking for more moderately priced lodging after more visitors started coming to the Grand Canyon. Inside is a gift shop and a history room that you can visit. Both the Buckey O'Neill Cabin (former member of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders) and Red Horse Cabin (a former post office) are both available for reservations. For food you can grab a bite at Arizona Steakhouse, Fred Harvey Burger, or the soda fountain. What is nice about this place is that you are in the heart of Grand Canyon Village and right next to the edge of the canyon. I enjoyed getting up and watching the sun rise within walking distance of my room. The free shuttle and some of tours have pickups right outside of Bright Angle Lodge. The parking sucks as there isn't a designated area for the hotel. You just grab any open spot that you can find. My room was pretty nice and cozy. Most of the rooms don't have showers. There are individual showers down the hall that you can walk to. I didn't have any issues securing one for myself. I did have to chase a mouse out of my room. I guess that is the price you pay for staying out in nature.

Yelp
Excellent drinks for Happy hour. Fun watching mule deer walk by window and raven on railing.

Yelp
This is my second stay at BA cabins and I won't consider any other lodging. Each cabin is just precious and I love sleeping with the windows open. The doors are half/dutch doors and screen latches if you need help with cross breeze. We have stayed over Labor Day weekend and now in early June. Neither was oppressive or difficult to sleep even thought temps up in low 90's in day. The location cannot be improved upon. We had a partial rim view cabin this visit. I was in heaven sitting in a comfy chair in my cabin - looking directly out into the Grand Canyon. Just can't say good enough things about BA cabins.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights ... NO HEAT the first night.. alerted the front desk.. nothing happened.. second night NO HEAT ... it was 35 outside ! And Im not done. Crappy TV RECEPTION and hot water was luke warm at best .. still not done ... NO room cleaning for multiple nights.. not sure how this hotel stays in business.. will never be back again.

Yelp
This is a review of the cabins--not the lodge. Before anything else, I have to say that the location of the cabins is absolutely fabulous--five stars. You are steps away from the Rim--and the beginning of the Bright Angel Trail. These cabins are historic; built in 1935 but recently updated while preserving their rustic charm. As far as I can tell, all of them have a bath with a shower or bathtub. All of them have a fridge, but no AC. There is a ceiling fan--and you are at 7,000 feet--so the nights are manageable. It was quite cold when we were there and the heat worked just fine. Some earlier reviews complained about the noise, but we didn't hear much traffic--just the railroad whistle during the day. The customer service was top-notch too, including a very friendly desk clerk. The only warning I have is that the cabins go very fast. Reservations open up 13 months before you preferred date, so book early. I got the last cabins for my dates in May by booking in early October! In sum, I would definititely stay here again.

Yelp
A beautiful, friendly lodge. This lodge has a great view of the canyon. It also had huge crows. The biggest I have seen, like chickens. In this lodge, they have a little museum. It has pieces of historical artifacts. It is actually nice. The fireplace and the story behind it is worth the research. The restaurant was nice. They have a bar here. It served a good Irish coffee. A souvenir shop that also sells fudge is also here. I saw a sign for donkey and jeep tours at the entrance. It seems you have choices here. I thought it was a nice property.

Yelp
Our room was cute. Rustic. Our door didn't work however though. Beds were cozy. Tough to figure out which area we were supposed to be staying in so we did some wandering around.

Yelp
The rating is actually 4.5 but no option for partial ratings. Check-in with James was fast & friendly. Every employee at Bright Angel lodge was fantastic. The restaurant is great, and the breakfast package was wonderful. We really loved this lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the quaint little cabins. I wish I'd booked us for longer. The vaulted ceiling made the room feel much larger and airy. The mattress and bedding were comfortable, and the place was clean. Bathroom was clean & had good water pressure with plenty of hot water. It was a very short stroll to the rim & to Bright Angel Lodge. Shuttle stop is very conveniently located as well. The only "markdowns" would be for the parking situation which is seriously lacking. We managed to get a great spot both nights, but it seemed only by divine intervention. I also really dislike the fact that the shampoo, hand soap, body wash & conditioner are in large pump dispensers used by all the previous guests. This doesn't seem safe from tampering. Finally, we could hear our neighbors very plainly, from coughing to TV to conversations, so if you're worried about hearing noise (or being heard) definitely don't book the cabins. It didn't end up being a problem for us because thankfully our neighbors went to bed as early as we did. :) Overall great stay, and definitely would book here again, or Bright Angel Lodge!

Yelp
Our cozy little cabin was STEPS away from the Grand Canyon rim. You couldn't ask for a better view or location.

Yelp
Everyone at Bright Angel was friendly, helpful & kind! The restaurants were excellent! Tasty food & great service!! The linens were fresh & comfortable. Everything was clean & tidy. The Grand Canyons hikes & views were extraordinary!!! We stayed at the Powell Lodge. Very "cozy" (aka teenie weenie)! No air conditioning! Kept windows open to help cool off the room. Lots of noise late evening & during the night (car alarms, delivery truck at 4:45 am). Hubby & I slept poorly all 3 nights. Experienced altitude sickness, headache, sinus congestion, irritability, restlessness & shortness of breath). The hall single person shower was clean yet easily flooded upon stepping out of the shower. In the future, we will insist on accommodations that include A/C.

Yelp
We arrived post Thanksgiving week and there were no crowds and no traffic, everything was perfect. The weather was cool, beautiful and then quickly turned into a winter wonderland overnight, a real dream for this California girl. Parking was easy and very convenient. Check in was very smooth and the man was extremely helpful about the park shuttle, the great restaurants on site , and the hikes we were most interested in doing. Our cabin was fantastic, cozy, spacious and very clean. The shower pressure was great, but be careful, the water gets extremely hot. There is complimentary shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Our bed was firm and very comfortable. The only downside to our cabin was that we could hear our neighbors conversation and I'm sure they could hear ours. In the lobby you will find the activities counter open until 6 pm. They offer mule rides, guided hikes, sunset and sunrise tours, all very affordable. The two of us did the sunset tour and it was perfect. We went to 3/4 overlooks in a warm van and with a fun and knowledgeable driver. You definitely don't need to go anywhere to see the canyon as this hotel is directly on the rim and it's truly amazing. In the morning you can find the marketplace open at 7 am with a variety of snacks and coffee/drinks. We are beyond thankful to have had the chance to stay here and to experience the magic of the Grand Canyon. Enjoy!

Yelp
Stayed a night here when visiting the Grand Canyon. Pros: right on the rim trail! Beautiful views steps from your front door!! Everything you could need (trails, restaurants, souvenir stores) within a walk from your room. Cons: No A/C. In the dead of summer, it can get pretty brutal and stuffy... especially after already being in the heat all day. Rooms are obviously very tiny and super dated. Not sure how this compares to other Grand Canyon hotels... maybe that's part of their aura. Would I stay here again? Or would I recommend it to friends? Probably not. I would either pay a little extra for a little more updated hotel or stay at a hotel right out of the park.

Yelp
Unbelievable location a the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Super comfortable place to stay to end my Phantom Ranch hike. I will be back

Yelp
So we had a few hours to spend in the village and came upon Fred Harvey's here. The margarita was good once I replaced the tequila. What wasn't good was the unprofessional talk behind the bar. It was like a bunch of teenagers were running the place. What only made it worse was when our bartender blew his nose and we prayed he'd wash his hands afterwards and then guess what, he didn't and proceeded to touch all of our plates etc. I wanted to throw up. Then the other bartender was pouring a glass of champagne and literally stuck her finger in it and gave to the patron. Oh yeah, one more thing 3 of them were eating fruit behind the bar and also didn't wash their hands. Ew!

Yelp
Okay prepare yourself for a longer review! This hotel is such a beautiful and unique hotel. I will be completely honest, I was terrified at first to stay here. Prior to arriving I learned that NONE of the rooms have air conditioning. Now normally I would not mind until I looked at the weather forecast and saw it was supposed to be 92-95 degrees. That is when I started panicking and I kept going back and forth on if I should change hotels or not. Well I am glad I did not change the hotel! Room: We were in a "Rim Cabin" room. It was the perfect size and we were steps away from the rim. We also could not have asked for a better view. Overall the room is very nice size. It comes with all the amenities you usually get, but minus the A/C. So you have a mini fridge, iron, safe, etc. Now we had such a nice breeze that honestly the room never felt hot. Even when we arrived in the room and all the windows were closed, it was still kinda refreshing. Again this is during the middle of summer with 90+ degree weather. It is very doable! Location: This hotel is located right on the rim. Even the "Historic Cabins" are steps away from the rim. You are located right next to the bus stops for the village loop and the hermit road(when the buses are running). I also noticed that this side of the village tends to be a little quieter. It was a nice touch. Plus you were near the Bright Angel Trailhead. That is a trail that can be challenging but it is so cool having the trailhead right next to the hotel! They are also a walkable distance to El Tovar Hotel and the Maswick Lodge. Staff: Every staff member I encountered here was beyond friendly. We were very impressed with the gentleman who checked us in. It was our first times to the Grand Canyon and he gave us a detailed plan for everything! A+ on customer service. Food: Now we came in July 2020. Due to Covid, most of the food offerings in the Grand Canyon Village were closed. In this hotel they did have a small snack place that had ice cream in it. However nearby there is food options. I won't take away a star on this because that is something out of their control. It did look like they have a steakhouse, but it was not open when I was there. Parking: So the parking lot is wonderful here. They have a few lots to choose from as well. The first one is one in front of the hotel. That one tends to get very full during the day with visitors. However near the rim cabins there is another lot that I never had a problem getting a spot at. It is very easy to find parking! Overall this is one of the best hotels in the Grand Canyon if you want a unique experience. I look forward to staying here again in the future!

Yelp
The National Park Service and Xanterra are doing wonderful things at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Our partial-view cabin at Bright Angel Lodge was absolutely astounding, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Having visited multiple times over many years, we found the cabin freshly updated and the housekeeping service good throughout our stay despite the challenges of pandemic protocol. Wonderful visit!
google avatar

Chrissy R.

Yelp
Great location on the south rim, some rooms w a view of the Grand Canyon. Walking distance to restaurants, Rim Trail, and the Bright Angel Trail, which is perfect once you climb back up! Basic but everything you need - some rooms have bathrooms in suite, whilst "hiker" rooms are available with shared bathroom / showers. Hottest showers we had during a 2 week Southwest road trip! Loved the history - a female architect, Mary Colter built it and a number of nearby buildings, including Phantom Ranch, in the early 1900's due to booming railroad tourism. Retains a rustic, cabin like charm. Adjust expectations - no tv, microwave etc. Not needed with the natural beauty / activities outside your door. Bring a kettle or coffee maker if preferred. Reasonably priced compared to other Village / South Rim hotels. Very clean and safe during COVID. If staying during COVID, book accommodation and dinner early.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here. We decided to spend two nights to enjoy the Grand Canyon. We booked online and quickly found out that we could get a single night for a fairly reasonable $129, but if you booked for more than one consecutive night, that price shot up to $189. So we reserved two single-night stays to avoid a ridiculous markup. Meant we had to stow our belongings in the car during the daytime but whatever. Check-in and check-out were very easy and you are provided with a map of the cabins so you can easily find which one you are staying in. The parking situation is a little wonky as a lot of the roads are one-way and narrow, so you might not get a spot close to your room. I enjoyed the rustic yet modern feel of the rooms. They are cozy (small square footage) but make good use of the space they have. One of the nights we had a bathroom with a tub/shower, the other night we did not (it was down the hall). The hot water works really well and doesn't take long to get hot. I appreciated this since we were staying during a light snow storm in January. The baseboard heaters also work effectively. The conjoined cabins reminded me of old scouting woodland adventures I'd had in my youth and that was fun. The warm wood paneling is glorious. There is an ice machine in one of the cabins that everyone can use even if they are staying in a neighboring cabin. There are no TVs in the rooms, which honestly was kind of refreshing. Great wi-fi though, so if you do need to use an electronic device, you're able. The beds are soft and warm, so you'll wake up ready to put down some miles on the hiking trail! The establishment also has a restaurant and a gift shop accessible from the lobby. I recommend the gift shop, the restaurant not so much.

Brian F.

Yelp
Best view ever. South rim quaint cabins on the canyon rim. Would definitely recommend them for a couple or family (check if double bed options). We got one with a rim view. It was the best hotel view I've ever had. Bed looks out window across rim trail to canyon. Cabins are off rim trail 20 feet so you see/hear park visitors but kind of good people watching. You can watch the canyon sunset or sunrise from your bed with the gas fireplace on (in cooler months). The interiors are modernized decorations but keep the historic vibe. Bed was fine. Very clean. Has little frig. Has shampoos etc.... Has heat and a gas fireplace in our cabin. However, the cabins... don't have air conditioning because south rim is 7000 feet elevation and gets into the 70's at night even in July. You keep your hinged windows open and screens closed for the breezy canyon wind to cool it. It was warm in cabin around 4-5pm but by 7 or 8 (sunset) it cooled off quickly. It stayed cool through check out time at 11. Some cabins share a central bathroom so reserve one with a bathroom if a deal breaker. Staff was polite. Some grab and go or lunch food options in walking distance. el Toviar hotel should have dinner reservations in peak times but is walkable nicer dinner option. This is kind of a semi glamping experience but I think better than the old inn or 70's/80's lodges next door.

Yelp
We stayed two nights in a rim cabin at Bright Angel Lodge and it was a wonderful experience. We had wonderful views of the Grand Canyon from our two windows, the room was spacious enough and had a fireplace. I didn't think we would need to use it but our second night it got cold and it provided both warmth and coziness to the room. I wasn't expecting luxury, and really loved the proximity to the rim. You can't beat the view and being steps from the Grand Canyon itself. Check in was easy. The room itself was super clean though there were some stains on the carpet. For those traveling in summer, there is no AC. Overall a wonderful experience. If you can, book a rom cabin. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Request a cabin at bright angel lodge. Direct access to bright angel trail. Both the restaurant and bar at bright angel lodge are nice

Yelp
Stayed here while at the Grand Canyon for one night. It is a beautiful area steps away from the rim. The front desk staff was very efficient, helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, though a bit small. It was just an overnight stay, so it was perfect for my family. The price was fair, as the view is stunning. Lots of things closed early, and were booked up because of Covid, so make sure to book early. I would stay here again, because the location was pristine.

Yelp
Amazing location. It's totally charming but leaves a lot to be desired. Cabins are clean, felt pretty safe, Covid wise. It's totally a fun stay if you're not picky. The cabins are literally steps away from the Grand Canyon south rim. You can wake up and see the sunrise over the canyon in your pajamas. The cafe food and coffee was terrible. I don't know how you mess up a cup of coffee but it was simply not good. They offer ready made breakfast burritos and they were totally bland, almost not worth the calories. Shower is pretty weak, kind of a bummer after a long hike day. I think they're just trying to save some water and I get that. Not really a complaint, more just funny. Our room's decor and fixtures were hack installed. Crooked curtain rods and TV mounts. It sounds like I'm complaining but we are easy going and totally enjoyed ourselves.

Yelp
Stayed at the Bright Angel Lodge recently. Not in a cabin. But I'll be back to stay there. The experience is worth every penny. The buildings ooze history. And. When you walk outside, there it is. Pictures and words don't do it justice. The canyon is immediately behind the Lodge. A few feet away. The staff were great, room was clean and ready in time. Appears they did some improvements during the quieter times during Covid from pictures I've seen. Highly recommend.

Yelp
When you reserve, check if the shower is attached or not. We reserved a lodge but didn't realize in this historic place that the showers would be separate. Still very clean and great to stay inside the National park.

Yelp
Very nice cabins near the Grand Canyon South Rim. We had a stand-alone cabin near the back, but it was roomy with everything a short walk away. Small bathroom and shower were food. Small tv was in the cabin. Cabin was heated but no cool AC. Most days AC isn't needed even in August. WiFi present in the complex but abysmal. I had good cell service in most areas. Comfortable bed but don't stay up too late. Noise and activities begin as the sun rises.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed 2 nights, our first cabin was a bit smaller than the second. Both had great views of the canyon. The woman at the desk was so very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. If it weren't for her, we wouldn't have know about these cabin options. Our second cabin had a fireplace & a view of the canyon.

Yelp
We were so pleasantly surprised by our room. I made the reservation over a month prior and saw just a week after making it that the place was fully booked. I had initially been confused by the "Lodge & Cabins" and wasn't sure if the discounted price I was booking was actually going to be a cabin, or a regular room in a lodge. I wondered if we lucked out in our rim-facing cabin room. When we arrived the room the window was shut and had warmed up during the mid-day heat so we immediately opened the windows and turned the provided window-fan on. It we left the window open at night with the screen shut and it cooled down sufficiently enough to keep us cool all night. The room came complete with a mini fridge and ice bucket, but missed one of my favorite hotel-room necessities. The coffee pot! Granted there is plenty of coffee stops around (Bright Angel Restaurant, and even the ice cream shop just around the corner has morning coffee) but drinking my coffee while I get ready in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day. I'm sure I'll be back again!

Yelp
I did not stay here, but stopped by to take a look at the historical artifacts and eat lunch. The history room was fantastic -- honestly better than the national Parks museums. Definitely stop by if you are hiking the nearby trail.

Yelp
My friends and I only stayed in the lodge for one night as we were hiking down the South Kaibab trail the next day. We were pleasantly surprised with our rooms. Clean. Very comfy beds. The only complaint we had was the availability of places to eat. As we didn't want to leave Grand Canyon Village, we looked for something to fill us up for our trek the next day. We ended up putting our name on the list for the "Fred Harvey Lounge." Over rated is being kind. We waited 1.5 hours to be seated. The "restaurant" is the bar, set up with 7 tables! Are you joking me!? My companions ordered: salad, sliders & I ordered a chicken wrap. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Folks who came in AFTER us were served their food. Forty-five minutes for our food. Nothing was served warm. It was a huge disappointment. In hindsight , we should have gone out of the village & supported a local eatery. I will stay at the lodge again, but will NEVER patronize any of their eateries.

Yelp
Persistence is the key! After calling and checking online availability incessantly for two weeks, I was able to reserve a room at the Bright Angel for two nights. There's a few different types of rooms here: 1) cabins on the rim, 2) rooms in the lodge with full bathrooms, and 3) rooms in the lodge with shared bathrooms. I wasn't lucky enough to get a cabin on the rim, but fortunate enough that I got a room with a full bathroom. I didn't have super high expectations, but was happily surprised. While it's definitely not posh, the room was rustic cute and clean. Most importantly it was all about location, location, location. There's nothing like rolling out of bed five minutes before sunrise, walking twenty feet, and enjoying the uninterrupted view. We also stayed at El Tovar, and much preferred Bright Angel. The location was much better! Lodging in the park is hard to come by! You either have to book a year in advance or wait for cancellations (usually people greedily hold onto these until the last minute)...grrr.

Yelp
Preamble: When I started planning my Grand Canyon trip 6 months out, Yavapai was my only Canyon hotel option, but by checking the sites daily I moved up to Thunderbird and then lucked out with a Partial View cabin here - so keep the dream alive! Parking: things got off to a bad start when I hunted desperately for parking, particularly because sunset was less than an hour away and the view from the endless circle of the parking lot is not what this place is known for. I somehow got a space that ended up being perfect but it happened after looping through the parking lots of every rim hotel twice. So just keep that in mind. Check-In: quick and easy. Amazingly, the desk informed me that the $192 I paid for my cabin was a little overcharged so they offered to either refund the difference or allow me to make a donation to the Grand Canyon Conservancy. I chose the latter because I appreciated the honesty. The partial view: I was promised a "partial view." We raced to our room (because sundown was now 45 minutes away), opened the door, and were stunned when we saw this "partial view". Maybe it's only called a "full view" if they're pushing the cabin over the rim, who knows, but it was breathtaking. I mean, you still should go out to see the major events, but it's great to have that view available at your beck and call. Like, in the morning it was helpful to stay in our warm room looking out to determine when it would be good to make the venture out. And since my daughter was not as crazy as me about being out in the cold, this was perfect - I was on the rim but she could see everything (and me) within reach if she needed me for something. The room: We had a queen bed we shared, which is typical with most of the BA rim cabins, but I didn't find the room cramped as reviews have written - I know there's a max capacity of 3 for the room but honestly there's plenty of room to maneuver. There is also a mini-fridge, a nice bath that felt really good after an active day on and below the rim, and a wonderful push button fireplace that you can even run on a timer - we went to sleep with the flames warming the room. And we had coffee in the room, but curiously it was Keurig which surprised me since they seem very environmentally aware otherwise. Maybe they know something about k-cups that I don't. Summary: So parking is crazy but everything else was perfect. I must say - I'm a budget hotel traveler and this was the most I've paid to stay anywhere in years (and even so this is still the cheapest place on the rim itself). But looking at that view would I say it's worth $192? Absolutely! And for that I'm going to go ahead and say it's a 5-star review - I'm going to apply that credit to the parking comment.

Yelp
The location can't be beat for hikers. I'm giving it four stars because I'd give anywhere there three for being clean and adequate with friendly staff, and a fourth for the location of this one. It's basic and totally typical for Xanterra national park lodging, and compared to chain hotels in cities it's much simpler, but it's fine given the location and the options. It was clean and the checkin staff were friendly. Checkin was available around 3-4pm, and checkout was at 11am. We had a pretty nice suite with what I think was two full beds, as well as a wide-seating couch and bedding in a closet to allow for sleeping on it. The bathroom had doors to both the bedroom and the living room. The bathroom has large bottles of toiletries, which I appreciate because it creates less waste and because we needed a ton of moisturizer and a small hotel-sized bottle wouldn't have been enough--it's crazy dry and we were applying moisturizer 3-4 times per day. We didn't have time to turn on the TV between hiking, eating, and sleeping, but there was one. The staff didn't have a handle on the shuttle service or schedule, which was frustrating, and they should to provide the basic information guests will need. But I get that they do the hotel and the park does the shuttle, so we could and should have called or checked with the park service to get the shuttle details. Apparently the schedule had recently changed for fall hours or some such. The food is lacking at this lodge, but it's lacking all over the South Rim, so that's not specific to the Bright Angel Lodge.

Yelp
I've stayed in the dorms twice. They're perfect for an overnight stay with a few exceptions. Best of all, they stage you perfectly for an early start on the Bright Angel Trail. The rooms are cute, comfortable, exceptionally clean, and provide views of nature. As stated, I have some pet peeves about the dorms. First, the cost is extortionate; $100 a night for a single (yes, one person) room with a shared shower. The cost should be in the range of $30-$50 a night, especially in the off-season. Next, there is no desk or chair in the room. You cannot sit down to write a postcard or eat a meal. Finally, the shared shower was great, but there is no trashcan, there is no bathmat (so you get out on to a wet floor), and the hair conditioner does not condition hair. After many, many handfuls, I still fought with tangles. Plus, the room heater for the shower doesn't work.

Yelp
Restaurant review only. We had breakfast here and were fortunate to have a table next to the window. I had Bucky's blueberry pancakes. Stack of 3, berries in the cakes and blueberry sauce on the side. The cakes were just okay. The sauce was thick and gummy. I ordered an over-medium egg on the side and it was perfectly cooked. Hubby had the pork and green chile skillet and it had lots of meat in it! He says it was pretty good. Lots of food - he couldn't finish it. Very convenient to the Canyon Rim and service was very friendly!

Yelp
Traveled here on a bus tour of the Grand Canyon. Nice Lodge, shops and amazing views! We even saw an art exhibit here that had some beautiful paintings of the Grand Canyon!

Yelp
Such a great experience! The Bright Angel Lodge has rooms all along the Rim of the Grand Canyon with great views right out your own window! We departed off the train and then off the Freedom Tour bus after the 90 min tour (the bus takes everyone to their hotels). With the Railway package we had our bags already in our room. Be careful with your room keys, they deactivate easily (being near your phone or other credit cards) Inside the room: there are two heating vents that warm the room. *There are two doorways/ close them tight as the wind can blow them open. *Keurig Coffee Maker *Mini Fridge *Television *Updated bathroom sink and shower *heater fan in the bathroom (you'll need it in the winter months) In the vicinity: All the other lodges are walkable (the mosowick) is a little farther from the rim. But has bomb pizza. If you don't want to walk there is a shuttle. Get the brochure from the lobby- shuttle map is on the back. *All of them have great gift shops (pretty much have the same stuff). *Bright Angel Trail- to the left of the lookout studio is modest and wonderful. *All of the lodge lobby's have big fireplaces and the El Trovar has lots of charging areas. In the winter wear lots of warm clothes if your not use to 30° temps. Let me know if you have any questions- I'd be delighted to help!

Yelp
Terrible service. Room was not ready until hours after check in time. The front desk said they would get our room ready and then proceeded to have us wait 4 hours while other were checking in. Rude and unprofessional. NO AIR CONDITIONING

Yelp
How nice is this lodge. It's perfectly located at the canyons rim. It's very delightful. Super nice people and lots on nice and unique gifts. There's a bar and place to have a meal. Totally recommend for anyone who visits the south rim takes a moment to hang out at the lodge.

Yelp
What an unbelievable experience. Bright Angel Lodge is one of the few places that offers accommodations RIGHT on the rim. Rustic, quaint, cozy, call it whatever you want but it's absolutely perfect. First, a gentle reminder: You. Are. In. The. Grand. Canyons. While there's spotty WiFi and a TV available in the room, take this time to unplug and enjoy your surroundings. There are several trails just outside your door. The sunrise and sunsets over the canyons are so beautiful, and the stars are breathtakingly bright at night. Take full advantage of Bright Angel's location and book early in advance to request a canyon-facing cabin. For a quaint lodge, we had all the amenities we needed. A comfortable queen bed, mini fridge, hair dryer, coffee, soap, and shampoo. No AC, but not necessary. We left the windows open throughout the day while we hiked, and had to shut them in the evening as temperatures cooled- even in late August. Area is dimly lit so if you're getting back to your cabin late, be sure to have a flashlight or phone on you- and don't forget to look up at the stars :-).

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed. We stayed at one of the cabins which was so cute and charming, but then to our horror, woke up with a bed bug in our bed! Needless to say, we cut our trip short and left, but it for sure changed how I feel about staying at the Grand Canyon and can say I will never stay there again. I also was terrified about the possibility of bringing a "guest" home with me, so had to throw out our luggage, and decontaminate everything. I think I still have PTSD from the experience.

Yelp
SIMPLE .... Don't come here to receive high end spa treatments and other super high end for lots of STUFF... but if you want a friendly staff clean accommodation a great location without breaking the bank. The staff was so great and helpful.

Yelp
Really great value to be right in the park and so close to the rim! We stayed in a room with a bathroom (shared shower) and it was great! The room included a refrigerator and coffee machine as well which was nice (I don't think those items were listed on the website as being included so they might not be available in all rooms). Like I said before, it's a nice affordable room, nothing fancy but comfortable and clean. But mostly you are paying for the great location.

Yelp
Yes! We loved our one night here. We had reserved a 2-person cabin for the night before our mule ride to Phantom Ranch. Since the cabins were overbooked, they UPGRADED us to a Rim View cabin! This was the best accommodation we could have imagined for our start to our Grand Canyon trip.

Yelp
It is a quaint little place but it had fresh paint, a cute little fire place and literally looked out into the canyon. You can get a better spot than this!! We enjoyed our stay and would go back.
