Brigitte Bistro

I was so excited to see that Brigitte had reopened after taking some well-deserved family time. We had a 7pm reservation, and it seemed like everyone was just as happy to be there as we were — people truly enjoyed lingering at their tables. The owner immediately recognized that we might experience a slight delay and welcomed us with a complimentary glass of champagne, a hug, and the words, “Welcome home, we missed you.” I’ve never felt so genuinely cared for at a restaurant. I love French cuisine, and I’m incredibly grateful for this place. I’ve dined at “higher-end” French restaurants where the price and quality don’t come close to what Brigitte offers. I honestly can’t say enough good things. We enjoyed the beef tartare prepared tableside, along with the French onion soup. For our mains, we had the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and the steak frites. Everything was cooked to perfection — honestly better than I could have even imagined. These owners deserve a Michelin star. They’ll have my business for as long as they’re open — they truly make you feel like family ❤️

Some of the best food in Petaluma! A bit on the expensive side but perfect for occasions, celebrations and just to sit and connect with loved ones over great food. Service was great too. We ordered several items, but absolutely loved Beef Bourguignon, Tuna tartare and Tiramisu. Crème Brûlée was good too.

Amazing…..magnificent and perfect from the time you walk in to the time you roll your full self out the cozy door. My husband and daughter and I went to this amazing establishment for Christmas Eve dinner and everything was perfect. Friendly vibes attentive staff and suburb food. We live in Novato but are in Petaluma very often and this is just another great place to eat that will be on repeat. Cozy bistro vibe with just super great traditional french food. Definitely make reservations because they get packed. And definitely keep room for dessert 👩‍🍳💋 - I wish Novato would step it up when it came to great places like this. Worth every drop of calories we consumed that night can’t wait to come back. Just superb

We started with French onion soup. Absolutely delicious! My husband had duck confit and I had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Both were incredibly tasty. The service was warm and friendly. Chef Ronan regularly stopped to visit with guests and even sat with us for a bit and we chatted about making humble, beautiful ingredients shine. Truly, he and the staff are excellent at making patrons comfortable! Finally, a table side firing of créme bruleé and a generous and rustic chocolate mousse topped our meal off and I have to say, we loved it! We loved it and will definitely return! Merçi beaucoup, Chef and staff! Ç'est magnifique!

My family and I had an amazing experience dining at Brigitte Bistro. We received the warmest welcome from the owner right when we walked in the door. Then we were treated to scrumptious dishes: onion soup gratinée, black cod, sea bass, steam frites, crème brûlée table side, and ile flottante. I loved the service, the food, the atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back!

Exceptional experience! We had a team dinner here last week and the entire staff at Brigitte Bistro was so thoughtful, hospitable and welcoming. Every single dish was delicious and we absolutely loved the table side tiramisu. Cannot wait to come back. Will be telling all my friends and family that this is a must visit when in Petaluma/Sonoma.

Went for the first (absolutely not the last) time last night and it really made such an impression on me I wanted to say a thank you. The food was phenomenal. Out of the two starters, our mains and the dessert - there was nothing we thought was just “okay” it was all fabulous. Our server was the best and he truly made the experience that much better for us, he was cracking jokes and made us feel so welcome like we go there all the time. We went right after opening at 4 on a Sunday, I forgot to make a reservation but we figured we’d just try and they were able to seat us and I’m so happy they did! I’ll definitely be making reservations in future because it filled up fast and we just got super lucky. Thank you all for the experience, it was an amazing birthday dinner thanks to all of you (: PS - Get the Pistachio Tiramisu. Even if you’re bursting at the seams full. It’s the best tiramisu my boyfriend and I have ever had. I would go back if even just to eat that.

Our foursome had a superb dining experience. The place was a lively good looking group. The sea bass and dressing was cooked to perfection. Our friends had the bouillabaisse which was as close to Paris as you can get. The steak tartar, leeks, steak frites and salad were also incredible. Wines by the glass were impeccable; you can sample before the pour. Dining was one of best we've had in N.California. The chef and owner is a delight!!

Great experience all around. From the moment I called to make the reservation, I knew this place was special. The person who answered the phone was so upbeat and welcoming that I honestly thought it might be a recording at first. Super friendly vibe right from the start. It was our first time here, and we came to celebrate a birthday. We weren't sure what to order, so we went with the chef's recommendations -- best decision ever. The couple sitting next to us said they eat here every time they're in town, which says a lot. The food felt Michelin-level without the Michelin prices. The appetizers were incredible, especially the seasonal chanterelle mushrooms that are only available for about a month each year. Our entrées were amazing, the wine was spot-on, and the service couldn't have been better. The whole evening felt relaxed and unhurried, kind of like dining in Paris. Beautiful ambiance, great staff, and an overall perfect night. Highly recommend checking this spot out if you're in the area.

Wow, what an experience all the way around! Petaluma is lined with many restaurants but Brigitte Bistro and the staff take the cake. We held our most recent dinner club here and it was the perfect setting. It was intimate, the waiter was super knowledgeable and shared his favorite dishes and the chef Nick came over to our table a couple of times to ask how everything was. We had the Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese Little Gem salad to start along with the french fries. Both were super tasty and had great flavors. For our main we had the scallops - so good and the presentation alone was phenomenal and the prime rib special with pasta on a toasted brioche bread. Just writing that is making my mouth water. We ended with the Chocolate Fondant for dessert and couldn't have been happier with all of our selections. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this for anyone near Petaluma!

We pulled in to the very small front parking lot which was already full shortly after opening. We stopped and were considering what to do when one of the owners came out to help and informed us that we could park in the adjacent lot. Very observant and helpful of him to do that for us. When we were seated another owner came by and shook our hands saying "Welcome Home!" They are genuinely happy and thankful for their customers and we could tell. The food: Délicieux! We ordered a steak tartare prepared tableside, scallops, poulet aux morilles (chicken and morels), and a couple glasses of wine. Although a little pricey, everything tasted fresh, delicious, and authentic!

Our absolutely favorite place when visiting family in Petaluma! Chef Nick Ronan welcomes you as family and is rightfully proud of the food creations he has curated. I made a second visit this trip with my granddaughter to celebrate her starting her senior year of high school, and he understood and helped us celebrate our special relationship. You cannot go wrong with any selection on the menu, and a perfect place for an early glass of great wine and a beautiful appetizer, salad or the most delightful French onion soup!

Our dinners were amazing - started out with a crab tartar that was perfectly seasoned while my husband had the escargot. As a main I had the not to be missed Black Cod which I wanted to lick the plate clean while he had the Wagyu with Frites which was so filling he had to take some home. Can't believe we passed up dessert but we just couldn't eat another bite, we'll be back as soon as we can and we were so impressed we even made sure to pick up a gift certificate for giving out this holiday season.

Service- 5/5 our server was funny and friendly.he was great and gave us good recommendations Ambiance-4/5 it is a cute place. A tad noisy but only because it was packed with customers Food 4/5 Overall really yummy French bistro dishes Salad Lyonnaise was a bit too greasy for me from the pancetta. Also a tad bit too warm for my taste The appetizer special- it was mushroom with bone marrow (can't remember the name)- Sooooo good. I can eat that all day! Chicken "paupiette" and beef bourguignon- classic and so delicious. We ate every bite! The sauce was the best. Floating island- is like a big piece of macaroon with cream and walnuts. We love it. I personally think the walnut can be chop in pieces instead of whole but that's just a matter of opinion I will definitely come back when I visit Petaluma

Absolutely amazing!! Michelin guide was started based on whether a place is worth the detour and let me tell you, this is a destination! It is THE best French restaurant in the entire Bay Area and worth leaving the San Francisco for. Everything was delicious starting with lyonnaise salad that's large enough for 4 people. The steak tartare is made right in front of you and it is so tasty and fresh. The beef bourguignon is the best I've ever had!! We're all still dreaming about it weeks after. The portions are large and you'll be happy with leftovers. Trust me! The price is so reasonable for the quality and quantity you get anywhere in the Bay Area. Don't skip the dessert even if you're full! For dessert who doesn't love a pistachio tiramisu that is made table side but my favorite is still the classic floating island, which is a classic French dessert of baked meringue floating in a pool of custard, or crème anglaise. We got 2 desserts for 4 and it was plenty to share. The space is so cute in a remodeled gas station corner. It's modern without being stuffy. The service is on point and warm and I saw a number of the patrons hugging the wait staff and owner. It's your neighborhood restaurant if you're lucky enough to live close by but if not, it's absolutely worth the drive on any given day. Can't wait to be back!

Ambiance - slightly on the lounge side Service - on a scale of 1 to 10 my server, Hassan, gets a 12! ‍ Why? His answers to my questions helped me choose - my salad choice of white asparagus with shavings of green asparagus and a dressing medium/lightt dressing that had a cool flavor of mustard seeds. - my choice of Waygu beef with Bernaise sauce. He asked if I wanted it medium-rare and I said hello no I want it rare and he high-fived me! - the white wine ought to be paired for the salad - the red wine that ought to be paired with the Waygu beef. He opened a new bottle at the table. Then he gave me a taste and I choked. Too raw! He poured a bit more and I was swirling but getting anywhere, so he jumped out and got a much larger wine glass and it a few minutes of aeration later it was quite nice. I don't remember ever getting that solution from anywhere I've been in the US or the rest of the world! His advice on the dessert is how he got the "12" rating. It was something that had "floating" in the name. The heart of it was a very light meringue that I've never tasted. Normally meringue tastes like cardboard to me. This version just knocked my culinary socks off! My wife had chosen to order the scallops and loved it. Whew... it WAS Mother's Day after all! Looks like I'm missing the picture of the white asparagus. Apologies.

OK they say "welcome home" when they great you. Our table was not ready and as we waited they brought us glasses of sparkling. Service food and ambience is fantastic. We had fish, beef and steak plus some apps! All were great! I have no complaints. Get off your ass and go here period!

This used to be my favorite brunch spot years ago, though now it is a French Bistro and I'm not mad about it. It is so charming and the Owner and wait staff really make you feel welcome. Chef Nick Ronan says,"Welcome Home" when you arrive. I love that. The tables are comfy and eclectic. I started with the Pate en croute au champignions d'hiver, which is chicken, duck, pork, winter mushrooms, with pistachio pate in a pastry dough. It comes with a small salad and a whole grain mustard that pairs beautifully with it. Then I ordered the Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese gem lettuce with shaved pear salad and for the entree the seared scallops with purple cauliflower puree, salsify chips, leek fondant and a creme fraiche, garlic butter sauce. Oh my, it was an amazing meal. Top 5 in my life. I have a new favorite restaurant and will be coming back. Oh, and I suggest making reservations.

Absolutely wonderful. The food and service were outstanding. We had the paté, wagyu, black cod, and creme brulee. We will definitely eat here again. Everything was outstanding. The only thing that can be improved is the noise level.

Where Paris meets Petaluma and my stomach starts speaking fluent French After a full day of wine tasting and a few too many "let's get a bottle" moments, my wife (the refined palate behind every good decision I pretend was mine) made a reservation at Brigitte Bistro. We'd heard this place was small, intimate, and buzzing with energy, so naturally I assumed I'd be the loudest one there. I was wrong. The place was packed and buzzing like a beehive with an espresso machine. We walked in, and I was hit with the sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and the unmistakable aroma of melted cheese doing its life's work. The vibe? Chic, open kitchen, a little noisy, full of happy people... basically the culinary equivalent of a really good group hug. We were seated smack in the center of the room, a perfect vantage point for people-watching, food-watching, and wondering if I should've worn pants with more give. We started with a round of wine. I went red (because beef was incoming), and my wife, ever the elegant strategist, went white. Her glass smelled like crushed citrus and confidence. Mine had notes of ripe plum, old oak, and a whisper of "you're gonna need bread for this." First course: * ONION SOUP GRATINÉE: A crock of rich, caramelized onion broth, bubbling with molten Gruyère, and cradling buttery croutons. One bite in, and I swear I heard the Eiffel Tower whisper, "Welcome home, mon ami." * LEEK SPECIAL: My wife's starter was a plate of leeks lounging in a luxurious cream sauce. Light, savory, and herbaceous. She said it tasted like springtime. Main event: * BEEF BOURGUIGNON: Folks, if love had a flavor, it would be this. A tender pile of slow-braised beef soaking in a velvety red wine-port broth, balanced with sweet pearl onions, earthy beech mushrooms, and baby carrots that had clearly been raised with care. All of it spooned over a dreamy parsnip purée. It didn't just hit the spot, it bought the spot a drink, told it it was beautiful, and waltzed it across the room. I briefly considered licking the bowl, but I didn't want to make my wife reevaluate her life choices. We were tempted by dessert, especially the PISTACHIO TIRAMISU TABLE SIDE, which came with its own floor show, but we decided to let the meal end on a high note. Besides, I didn't want to risk unbuttoning my pants in a place this classy. Next time, dessert is happening. Probably twice. Final notes: Service was stellar. Pacing was perfect. The ambiance was warm and romantic but still lively. My wife was glowing. I might've teared up, or maybe that was the onion soup. Either way, we left full, happy, and already scheming our return. My rating: 5 out of 5 dreams. Would I go back? Faster than you can say, "Oui, chef!"

The food is to die for! Wonderful does not even describe the food. Excellent including the service! Its a small restaurant but Not to be missed!

FOOD: 5 SERVICE:5 AMBIANCE: 5 VALUE: 5 Amazing French food in Petaluma. Chef Nick has opened another great restaurant. His love for cooking has given us mortals another chance to taste great cooking. Their menu changes often, we have tried: Escargot and Bone Marrow - cooked in a rich buttery garlic sauce. Heirloom Tomatoes - fresh firm heirloom tomatoes with ricotta, brandied cherries and Macadamia nuts. A very refreshing salad. Onion soup - always spot on, full of onions, not stuffed with bread or too salty. Cassoulet- perfect blend of beans, sausages and duck. Moules Frittes - mussels in a white wine garlic sauce served with french fries. Fresh mussels the a sauce that you have to savor every last drop. Maine Scallops- perfectly seared scallops served on a fennel confit with sunchoke chips in a butter sauce. Well seared, firm but not chewy scallops. There is so much goodness and great culinary skills here, it is like a glimpse into traditional French dining without flying over to France. Such a gem in Petaluma.

We are so disappointed we let ourselves get scammed by this place. The waiter kept pressing us to add truffle to our dish and it never occurred to me that the truffle would cost 200% more than the actual meal itself. I'm so upset they did this to us. Will never be back. It's a real shame. The food was really excellent. The chef was amazing but the waiter was just derelict in their duty. They forgot one of our main dishes and then up charge us 200% on a topping for a dish which I find to be outrageous. Well, it might be a real value of something. They should at least mention the price if they're going to do something this drastic we split a meal and drink water that should've been a queue to not up charge an extra $90 on a $40 meal

One of the best meals we've had in awhile. The food was the most authentic French food we've had in a long time, the service helpful and friendly and the atmosphere comfortable and familiar. Can't wait to go back.

The food was mostly very good. The service was sub par. The environment was smokey and loud. The owner is very friendly and passionate about his craft, which I respect. When I sent back my fish for being overly salty he told me that they don't add salt, only lemon zest. This was such an obvious lie, I considered it insulting. The wine list was well curated, and all the wine I tasted were delicious. The meat and cheese appetizer was huge and incredible quality. Excellent pairings on this board. Especially the Humboldt Fog and Honeycomb. The server forgot to put in our order for French onion soup, which is not only my favorite, it's also one thing I've heard was particularly good at this restaurant, so I was really looking forward to it. I felt an enormous letdown when we waited for 35 mins between our appetizer before our entrees came out with no soup. There was no quality check to see how our dinner was. Instead I waited for 15 mins till someone came by to ask me if I wanted a box for the salty fish I didn't eat. I can tell the owner cares about his business and he tried very hard to be nice about it. I appreciate his efforts, but this was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I. It left me thoroughly disappointed. I would go back and give them another shot, but honestly, given the embarrassing wealth of great restaurants in town, I'm not sure I will return any time soon.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner with Chef /Owner Nick Ronan at Brigitte. Bistro. Would give the experience 10 stars if possible !!! French food at its finest with equal service.

We had a wonderful French dinning experience without flying to Paris. Friendly service but not overwhelming. Table side beef tartar and tiramisu were fun to watch and super tasty. My favorite will be the black cod and baked scallops. Tender and layer of taste. The owner/chef will put the final touch on each dish, great quality control. The place is not big which is good to feel like going home or an old friend's place to meet for dinner. Most of the customers were returning customers. We will for sure be back!

what they did with the space is amazing!!!! the menu - so many great classics plus insprational specials. we loved everything we had ( steak au pouvre, beef tartar, mushroom app ) and cant wait to return! thank you for old school great service!!

I love how they have all the dishes that I would order at a French restaurant! It's the first in my book of French restaurants that they have it all so we ordered everything that we typically order and then some! We were seated at the chef's counter. It's a cozy, modern and open dining space with a fine piano on the corner. French onion soup had a special red wine tanginess to it that I liked. Pate had a nice texture and a good bite that one doesn't find elsewhere usually. Steak tartare - they mixed the ingredients, freshly, table side. It was a bit too overpowering on the mustard. I couldn't really get to the taste of the meat. Escargot was of pure buttery goodness and a bone marrow, below, was a pleasant, complimenting surprise. Most of the garnishing was of parsley flakes. I think some of the dishes can be topped off with something else. It'll add a different spin to things - food for thought. Beef bourguignon was meltingly tender and homely. The sauce, made this entree, a winner. The pearl onions are sliced into the sauce and not wholly visual. The duck confit was a bit dry, but I did find the scalloped potatoes, a delight! They pour the sauce at the table, which added a bit of fine dining feel to this dish. It also takes extra effort to make scalloped potatoes - one should note. We added gratin as an extra side since my husband, Pierre, likes gratin and one doesn't come across that often in French restaurants. It was too creamy and I thought it would be more of a standalone with a touch of creaminess in between as well as brownish spots on top, to give it some warmly baked color. I didn't care for it, but I'm not a big potato fan to begin with. Extensive wine list to choose from. Servers were attentive all throughout our dining experience. They are winning on their desserts! Their pistachio tiramisu is also made in front of you and it was so decadent. They freshly shave chocolate on the tiramisu and I like the interaction with our server. The simple twist to the traditional tiramisu, with the pistachio flavor, made this dessert an appealing dessert to get here. Chocolate fondant was oozing with chocolate and fudge. It complimented well with their sea salt caramel ice cream. Fantastic new addition to Petaluma! Chef takes a lot of pride and has passion in his cooking as one can tell. He is present and overseeing the open kitchen lineup. He greeted me with a signature French kiss on my hand and I was surprised as I didn't know that was his motto. During dining, I noticed that he has his own cookbook and the front cover is his name, stating "kissing chef," showing as one of his displays in the kitchen overhead decor. That explains his kiss. I was amused. A very promising French restaurant for the city of Petaluma! They were already fully packed at 5p on a Friday. Go here before it becomes so established and then impossible to make a reservation!

We eat out a lot. Maybe a bit too much. But this is one of the best meals we've had in recent memory. We were welcomed when we walked in the door and it just kept getting better. Luke waited on us and he was exceptional. The menu has everything you want and nothing you don't need. We've been to three Michelin star restaurants and I honestly believe the meals we had here were superior. The artistry from the kitchen was first rate and the quality lived up to the first impression. The wine list is outstanding and the vibe of the restaurant was very lively and neighborhood-ish. It was about an hour's drive for us but I can't wait to go back. Merci beaucoup for a first rate evening!!

Another delicious meal. They work so hard here! The black cod is a must try. The goat cheese salad is deliciously peppery. I only wish they had a couples wines under $60.

I was excited to try Brigitte Bistro outside downtown Petaluma as I had heard nothing but rave reviews since they opened. I visited on a Tuesday evening and had a reservation and was sat quickly. The restaurant wasn't too busy at 6 p.m. but seemed to get busier as the night progressed with almost every table being full by the time I departed. I immediately noticed it was rather warm in the restaurant on a hot day and there were a lot of flies throughout.  The server greeted us and wasn't the most welcoming. We then proceeded to order drinks followed by appetizers and then dinner. I ordered the Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese Salad, which came with the goat cheese on a crostini. The salad was good, but nothing to rave about. I also ordered a side of bread as well as my main entree, which was the maine scallops with sunchoke chips in a beurre blanc sauce. The scallops were well sized, but I did leave the restaurant still a bit hungry. I also found the restaurant a bit small and crowded and hard to hear.  Overall the experience was a 3 out of 5 and nothing too memorable food, service or experience wise.

This fabulous authentic French restaurant deserves double the space! Everything from beginning to end was masterfully crafted and served-- Our food was incredibly delicious! For starters, we each had grandma's escargot and split a salad Lyonnaise. The escargot came with freshly toasted, baguette, drenched in baked garlic parsley butter with tender pieces of baked garlic, topping a carefully placed piece of toasted baguette. A slight variation request to the lettuce was expertly taken care of. For the main course we split the Beef Bourguignon and Onion soup Gratinee. Flavors were authentic, fresh and mouthwateringly delicious. We quickly came to the conclusion that anything on the menu will be excellent! A bottle of sparkling water was the perfect accompaniment for a non-drinking night. Our server had a witty and engaging sense of humor, making a point occasionally showing us what we were missing in the dessert department as it passed by. Tempting as it was, we were too full. What we WOULD HAVE ordered was the Floating Island, composed of fresh cream. Definitely check this dessert out! Service was fabulously warm and friendly with genuine loving embraces and gratitude for our visit as we laughed. We will definitely come back and recommend. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys French authentic French cuisine or just wants to try something different. Petaluma is lucky to have this gem in their corner . Note: during our visit the room was a bit smoky. There seemed to be a problem with the kitchen fan, but it is not worth detracting any stars from this experience. A small parking lot adjacent to the restaurant holes about eight cars. Beyond that, you might have to park on Petaluma Boulevard or across the street.

This was our first visit to Brigitte bistro but have been meaning to go since many friends have recommended it. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and the service was perfect. We were a party of 4, very chatty so the staff were able to meander around our conversation and take our orders and deliver the food and drinks in a timely manner. We started off with the escargot/bone-marrow and pâté en croute. Both delicious, lots of lovely garlic butter to dip the Della Fattoria bread in. The pâté was a rustic country style pate, chunky, not smooth. Then we had the duck confit, black cod, beef bourgignon and the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. I can vouch for the duck Confit and the black Cod, the dick was both juicy and crispy amd the box k cod was flaky And silky with the most decadent creamy sauce. My friends loved theirs too. We also ordered the gratin dauphinois potatoes, rich and creamy in the best way. To finish we ordered the crème brûlée and the table side pistachio tiramisu. The crème brûlée was brûléed at the table and was a classic. The tiramisu was assembled tableside and was both beautiful and delicious. Not too sweet. We will definitely go again. It is more than a casual dinner place for us, it's more of a special occasion place.

Food - Very pricy. The escargot was delicious. Service was alright. The server wasn't in the greatest of moods, and a little off putting when the server was standing in the corner of the place watching everyone. Place is small and cosy. I did have to make reservations ahead of time. It was a hot day in June. Some flies were around, so that was a little off putting. Single restroom next to the front door. The people next to us did have a fish sole dish that I didn't see on the menu, and we did up waiting a little while for our meals. All in all, glad I tried it, but it wasn't the best experience I had wanted.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times since it opened. The food is always delicious and I enjoy the attentive service. Seeing the chefs work behind the glass is a treat for someone who loves a full culinary experience. And The dessert, should not be missed. It was not just served at the table, but built there as well, Nick did a wonderful job constructing a pistachio cream tiramisu. Brigitte's Bistro is now officially my favorite neighborhood restaurant -- in a city of great eateries it shines like the Eiffel Tower at night.

We had heard such good things about this place and it did not disappoint! All of the food (we ordered way too much) was delicious and the service was great! Our favorites were the Salmon Gravlax, Escargot and Marrow, Duck A L'Orange and the Pistachio Tiramisu made table-side. We were seated next to where all the dishes got their finishing touches by Chef Ronan and we wanted to try all of them. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is very small and noisy. Not enough parking spots in the lot outside. So be prepared for that if you're going. French onion soup was amazing. Steak frites was frankly not very good. Steak was overcooked, and the meat was pretty tough. The sauce w the steak was just ok--I would have really liked it if they offered bernaise or bordelaise (seems odd they didn't). Fries were crispy, but I didn't enjoy the amount of salt and rosemary on them. Desserts were very good. All in all a decent French restaurant, but not worth the hype. Nothing special.

I'm sooo impressed by this newly opened neighborhood French restaurant! We booked the reservation at 5:15 pm on a Friday. We thought it would be early for dinner but the place is packed already. I really like the bright dining area. The staff is super friendly. We were sat by the bar where we can see the magic happened in the kitchen and met the chef, Nick! Escargot: It's my #1 escargot!! I've tried this in many places and lots of time I felt it was a little overcooked or too greasy. This here is cooked just right and I love the greens floating on the butter that goes so well with the bread. Pate: it's not what I expected because I always thought pate is more like a mousse texture. The pate here has meat chucks and pistachios and just much interesting and flavorful. Have a bite with the pickles on the plate is like heaven! Onion soup: I like the soup is more clear broth with tons of flavor. A lot of time the onion soup is too rich for me but the soup here just hits the spot! Salad Lyonnaise: I've never tried a soft broiled egg on a salad. It has bacon bits and everything together tasted just amazing! Duck confit: This dish is loaded with flavor. The duck is tender, the mushroom sauce pouring over together with the potato is beyond words. I highly recommend it!! We asked the chef, Nick what's his favorite and he said he can't pick one. Now I totally get it! I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try different dishes each time.

Ever since reading about the future opening of Brigitte Bistro, we've been really excited to give it a try. Our go-to for classic French comfort food is Bistro Jeanty in Yountville, which is way too far to be able to go to on a regular basis but nothing beats their cassoulet and a glass of red Burgundy on a cold, rainy day. If you've been to Three Cooks/Wishbone before, you know how dark the interior of the restaurant felt. Well, the team behind Brigitte have completely transformed the space. It feels MUCH larger and more open, now with plenty of natural light. It's really quite an impressive transformation - kudos to the team that designed and built it out! I've read that others have had issues with service and in particular not having tables ready for a reservation. Thankfully, we didn't have any issues. Service was above and beyond - extremely warm, kind, and welcoming, and our table was ready and waiting for us upon our arrival. Even throughout the meal, various team members checked in on us to see if we were doing well and if we were enjoying the food. We wanted to try a few classic items so we opted for the steak tartare and onion soup to start. The tartare is prepared table side and is quite standard in its preparation, if not on the lighter side in terms of the seasoning for the beef. This really let the beef shine. It was solid but far from the best we've had (we really like the tartare from Monsieur Benjamin in SF). Sadly, this will be a theme throughout the meal. The onion soup was warm, rich, and comforting, but with an unpleasant amount of oil/fat sitting on top. For the mains, we opted for the duck confit and boeuf bourguignon. The duck confit was good, though a bit underseasoned. It came with sauteed mushrooms in a slightly reduced stock, which was actually quite delicious, though it baffles me why you'd pour this wet sauce over something delightfully crispy. The boeuf bourguignon was not very traditional IMO. It was much closer to a braised beef short rib over a potato puree than the traditional stew. Each component was tasty, aside from the raw mushrooms placed on top (I'm just not a huge fan of raw mushrooms), but it just didn't hit the comfort food nostalgia notes and had I known it was going to be served in this "deconstructed" manner, I'd have opted for something else. The wine list has a decent selection, though the BTG options were less exciting. BTG prices are on par with the industry (one glass ~ wholesale price of the bottle) while the bottle prices felt quite exorbitant. I love a good rosé from Bandol (Chateau Vannieres, 2022), but there are few examples that I'd call a good value at $84/750ml bottle, even on a restaurant list. This bottle wholesales for under $25. In the mood for bubbles? The NV Gimmonet-Gonet is $140 on their list while it wholesales for around $50 (180% above wholesale). For comparison, the 2017 Patrice Rion NSG VV wholesales around $60 and is $130 on the bottle list at Bistro Jeanty (116% above wholesale). Overall, the food wasn't bad and we'd likely make a return visit to try a few other items, but given the less than stellar meal we had and the very high markups on wine, it's looking like Brigitte may not be saving us from those long drives to Yountville.

I came here to celebrate my 31st birthday, and it couldn't have been better. The food was absolutely fantastic--I couldn't stop eating while my wife and friends enjoyed chatting all night. The service was outstanding. The owner personally brought us champagne while we waited (since they were a bit overbooked) and kept checking in on us throughout the night. He was hilarious, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The place is small, but that only adds to its charm. Overall, an amazing spot with even more amazing food!

The staff was wonderful and the ambiance was okay. We were a party of 10. The service was good no significant delays. The food, on the other hand, left me unimpressed. I had the sea bass. if it would have been cooked properly it would have been good. It was overcooked and a disappointment. The potatoes and the sauce were tasty but a little over salty. My wife ordered the Wagyu Steak. As I understand it this should be either from Japan or grown properly here. Honestly it was no where close to the beef I have eaten many times in Japan. It came with fries that were lukewarm and overcooked. My sister-in-law had the duck and while I didn't taste it my wife did and said it was the best dish on the table. We also ordered the french onion soup and it was great. The meat and cheese board wad excellent and my grandsons Mac and cheese was fantastic. We didn't have dessert as the appetizers and main course filled us up. Based on the prices on the menu and given that the restaurant was in sort of a crappy side of west Petaluma I would say it was overpriced. The average main dish was $40, appetizers were $18-20. The mac and cheese was $18, come on guys. At these prices the food should knock your socks off, it did not do that. I don't think I will return even if my brother inlaw pays again. If someone's review says you either like this food or don't know how to appreciate french cuisine I would be at odds with this person. It is not up to the Sophies in this world to tell us what we like or not. I've been to France countless times and know how to appreciate good food. I will give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but stand by my review.

Just back from Lyon; just amazing! Pate en croute was delicious and the escargot with beef bone marrow is so good. Wait staff is excellent and the chef is making rounds with us all. Love this place!

Absolutely incredible! We love the ambiance and warmth that the team shares the moment you walk in the door. The food is amazing and a wonderful reflection of the love and joy the team share. We would highly recommend! And we can't wait to bring our friends and family there soon.

It was our first time at the restaurant last night and we can't stop talking how AMAZING everything was! From the service to the food, everything was *chef's kiss*. The restaurant has a homey family vibe which I loved. Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos of the food, but my partner had the waygu steak and fries, I had the scallops, and our friends had the chicken, French onion soup and beet salad and we cleaned our plates! We are all foodies and this has been easily one of our top 5 favorite places to eat! We will be back!

As self-proclaimed "foodies," my girlfriend and I have eaten our way through nearly every restaurant in the area, so we're tough to impress. I'll admit I was lukewarm about giving this spot a chance--maybe it was the hype or just my stubborn streak--but Brigitte Bistro blew us away from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the chef greeted us like family, wrapping us each in a warm, genuine hug that set the tone for the night. The ambiance is pure charm--cozy yet elegant, with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff's attention to detail was impeccable, every interaction marked by care and enthusiasm. And then there's the food--oh, the food! It's nothing short of spectacular. We kicked things off with the escargot with bone marrow, a dish that's equal parts indulgent and refined. The snails were tender, swimming in a luscious garlic butter sauce, with the rich, velvety marrow adding a decadent twist. The table-side beef tartar was a showstopper--watching it come together right in front of us was half the fun. Perfectly seasoned and fresh, it was a bold, flavorful bite we won't soon forget. The lamb shank, though? That was the star. Fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and paired with flavors that danced between savory and subtle sweetness--my mouth's watering just thinking about it. The only slight hiccup was the scallops. They weren't quite my favorite--the texture didn't wow me--but they sat atop a bed of pure luxury: a creamy mix of cheese, earthy mushrooms, and vibrant greens that was so delicious I almost forgot the scallops were there. It's a minor quibble in an otherwise flawless meal. Save room for dessert--you'll thank me later. We went for the chocolate cake with ice cream, a warm, gooey masterpiece that paired perfectly with the cool, creamy scoop on top. The "special" apricot tart (or whatever magic they're calling it that day) was just as divine, with a flaky crust and sweet, caramelized apricots that capped the night on a high note. Brigitte Bistro isn't just a meal; it's an experience. From the heartfelt welcome to the last bite of dessert, it's a place that delivers on every level. Trust me, fellow food lovers: this is one spot you need to add to your list.

Positives: The actual food tasted good, though at least one dish misrepresented on menu (see below). The menu has some positive vibes and the mural outside is chill. The staff seemed to be very nice to the older people, which is important. Negatives: No woman's touch here, so the Brigitte name was almost ironic. Though I saw one woman in the back, the vibe is really all male staff. Two people having dinner, one entree came out twenty minutes after the other person's meal. No apologies or kind words, just plate thrown down. Staff must work on ventilation when it is hot there - we left the place smelling like cooking food, which is not what we want to feel when out dining. There's a listing for a pear and goat cheese salad, but the actual goat cheese was miniscule and must have been sliced with a razor blade since it was invisible. While the salad tasted good, there was hardly any goat cheese. No garbage can in the bathroom, which is a necessity.

We Loved the Way We were Welcomed as we came through the Entrance. The Restaurant was Very Nice. Comfortable Vibe The Service was Excellent. The Food was So Delicious. We started out with the escargot and bone marrow appetizer with extra Bread. My Husband Ordered The wagyu steak, and I had beef Bourgnon. Everything was Delicious. And We topped it off with island Dessert Alittle pricey but, that won't stop Us from not coming back. It's Nice to have a Variety of Good Food in Our Town. And We have it here

Wow! Just so good. Don't be in a rush as this food must be savored. What a lovely treat! Will be back without a doubt!

If you like the heavy French classics you might like this restaurant. It's definitely a popular place. I feel it's too heavy and cliche. It's also one of the most expensive places in town. I wish it was more fresh and healthy. I have been twice. The first time I enjoyed my pork loin but the second time I went I ordered the stuffed chicken. The sauce separated and there was a large pool of grease the chicken sat in. It was very unpleasant.

This is a by far the best meal I've had in a long time! The service is amazing! Table side steak tartar is a must order!!! Chef Nick has created a masterpiece with the most tasteful atmosphere and it truly feels like you are home!!! We can't wait to go back!! Much love!!!

A true culinary experience bursting with flavor by some of the most friendly and engaging people that are clearly passionate about their craft. Every thing out of this kitchen will have you closing your eyes to savor the experience. Thank you Brigitte!

A great addition to the excellent Petaluma food scene. We've eaten here three times now (even though reservations can be hard to get!). Little Gem salad with warmed goat cheese - awesome. Saucisson entree was a high-quality homemade sausage en croute, not a boring supermarket-style thing, with a really tasty mustard-based sauce. My better half has strong feelings about french onion soup, and Brigitte's is among the best she's ever had (meaning the soup itself is delicious, and not overwhelmed by the cheese). The menu, entrees in particular, changes seasonally. I've had something different each time. The owner and his team are as advertised, genuinely welcoming. And the same kitchen staff seems to have been there from the beginning, which is always a good sign. Parking is tight; on weekends at least (maybe always?), you can park in the adjacent lot - the muffler shop on Magnolia St.

Phoned in a reservation for 1 @ 4:30 on Wednesday, noting it was my first time there. The chef/ owner called me back and stated he would not be there, but he welcomed me! I reviewed the menu on Yelp and noted the chicken and the Boef Bourguinon. I arrived @ 4:20; there was a table of 3 already dining. I requested the chicken special and was told they were out of chicken! Ok...I ordered the black cod, pate and the Berf Bourguinon to go. All delicious; as I was leaving, I asked the diners to my right what they ordered. One lady ordered the chicken...I looked at the server and said " oh, that's what I wanted. WT Hell.

Nick Ronan is a delightful host/chef. It turned out he didn't have a record of our reservation and he made us very comfortable and secured a table for us within 15 minutes. As for the food, however, I have to disagree with most of the other reviews. My wife and I shared the leek salad and I ordered the scallops with leeks fondue, purple cauliflower puree, creme fraiche and garlic butter sauce. In both cases the delicacy of the scallops and the leeks in the salad were overwhelmed with sauces. I feel he is overdoing the surrounding elements at the risk of losing the flavour of the underlying dish. My wife had the sea bass and again the fish was fine but too much rich stuff on the plate. Finally the place is very noisy (i guess that's to be expected in a bistro). I really wish Nick success and if he moves a bit toward nouvelle cuisine we'd love to come back.
