Brij Lakshman Sagar (Pali, Rajasthan) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Rajasthan’s Pali district is some distance off the usual tourist trail, which suits the Brij hotel group just fine. They’ve made it their mission to bring travelers to India’s less visited corners, and in that task this 19th-century hunting lodge succeeds admirably. Brij Lakshman Sagar is made up of a mere 12 cottages, set on 32 acres of land; safe to say it never feels busy." - Tablet Hotels

Brij Lakshman Sagar, near Pali, Rajasthan - Explore & Book

"Need a break from painted palaces? Had your fill of forts? At Lakshman Sagar there’s nary a block-print in sight. Just 12 spacious and gloriously private mud-and-stone cottages nestled amongst 32 acres of rocky hills, surrounding a lake. This is a quiet and intimate eco-retreat, a place for travellers to unwind and recharge. Take a guided nature walk; go for a dip in the crater-like pool; watch the sun set from a terrace lounge or star-gaze by a bonfire on the dam. This place is all about R&R.The hotel prides itself on its Marwar heritage but keeps a sense of humour about its history. Two 19th-century hunting lodges have been converted into airy dining and lounging spaces, decorated with whimsical touches: alcoves painted candy-floss pink; light fixtures made from milk cans and cooking pots. Your cavernous cottage is full of fun touches, too: our bright orange storage table was once a steel drum; the laundry basket formerly a baby’s hammock. Food, however, is serious business here - the cooks turn out consistently delicious dishes, all of them sophisticated interpretations of regional Rajasthani fare. You’ll return to the chaos of urban India with a full belly and a soothed soul. Highs A romantic, nature-lover's retreat: fresh air, starry skies, walking trails, migratory birds and a lake full of fish Total privacy: your own stunning and spacious cottage with private plunge pool (all tucked away from each other)An unusual glimpse into rural Rajasthan, it's worth staying 2-3 nights to fully appreciate the calming atmosphereGreat value - the price is all inclusive and covers several activities (nature walks, pottery, tobacco tasting)Delectable and innovative set-menu Rajasthani food served on an open-air terrace overlooking the lake Lows The location is remote - a 2.5-hour drive from Jodhpur Airport - and there are no restaurants or shops nearbyWith its rocky paths, steep steps and high drops, the property is neither wheelchair-accessible nor child-friendlyLunch and dinner are pre-set, so you get what you're given (though they can cater for dietary requirements)From July-Sept it's not safe to venture out post sunset without a resort escort; this is due to increased wildlife in the area - keep your windows closed at night! No WiFi, TVs or phones, and no extra beds" - Kate Darnton

Brij Lakshman Sagar has set the benchmark for understated luxury for us. I stayed 2 nights with my parents and sister and we had the most wonderful time at Lakshman Sagar. |Having the entire property to ourself (there were no other guest) was the cherry on top. Each team member pampered us, from Chef Dharma, to naturalists Saarthak and Snehal. Love the flute that keeps you soothing, constant company in the mornings and evenings. The food, rooms, amenities everything is just excellent. The home made jams are something else altogether. Every small detail is so well thought of, you'll lack nothing in the rooms. We wanted to apply henna on out hands they even arranged for that along with the spice mixing and pottery sessions.|Special mention for VikSa (he's is fondly called that by his team members). He is simply one of the best person I have met on my travels. His warmth and jovial banter just makes you feel so welcome. ||Highly recommend Brij Lakshman Sagar to anyone who wants to experience a rustic stay without compromising on any luxury.

We had the pleasure of spending time at this unique, asthetic, nature friendly cottage style hotel. The ambience, service, good food, over 100s of peacocks roaming freely, the best private pool with each mud house, candle light dinner with live local music and activities like canoeing, bird watching, pottery, nature walk was a great way to connect to mother Nature and rejuvenate our lives before heading back to the busy city lives. The staff were friendly, they have one of the best top 10 hotel pools in the country. We were briefed about the history of the property. Felt so royal. This has to be the best hotel experience in our travel history.

Brij at Lakshman Sagar gave us a beautiful unique experience that we cannot recommend highly enough. A combination of absolute luxury, while also prioritizing sustainability, nature and a ‘farm to table’ approach, this place should be at the top of your list when planning a visit to Rajasthan. For us it was an oasis in the middle of a busy trip. The staff went above and beyond to give us the best experience, from sundowners on the high rocks, to a beautiful candlelit secluded dinner and a wide range of activities, not to mention the swimming pool and private plunge pool. The food was truly outstanding- you must taste it to believe it- all grown on the farm and prepared by talented chef Johany. The attention to detail in the rooms was second to none, and the background noise of peacocks going about their business was charming. Sarthak, Jai, Nakul and the whole team were wonderful-we didn’t want to leave!

What a wonderful hotel! Everything’s perfect from the check-in to the moment you (do not want to) leave: (only) 12 spacious, very well-equipped cottages located around the lake, where you can relax in your private plunge pool and/or watch hundreds of birds from colourful kingfishers to beautiful peacocks; a beautiful pool, a great rooftop bar and tasty food in the little restaurant. |And the birdwatching trip to a nearby dam was also an excellent experience. |Just be aware of the bees that were very aggressive when we were there

We had an absolutely amazing time at this hidden gem! Though the property is tucked away in a remote location, it was easy to reach using maps. Its seclusion made the experience even more special—peaceful, private, and completely self-sufficient.||||Our family of five stayed in two beautifully designed cottages spread around a serene lake. These cottages are accessible via a natural trail, which adds to the charm, though it can be a bit of a walk for older guests. Each cottage was spacious, thoughtfully built with natural materials, and well-equipped with board games and refreshments.||||The private pool was a highlight for us! Even in the heat, the shade from the surrounding trees kept it cool and refreshing. We spent hours just relaxing there. The main pool area is equally stunning—you can witness the sunset on one side and the moonrise on the other. Pure magic! The terrace was our go-to spot after sundown—calm, breezy, and perfect for stargazing.||||We also went canoeing on the lake, which was peaceful and a wonderful way to take in the natural beauty. The property is home to several peacocks, and their calls created an enchanting atmosphere. We were even lucky enough to witness a few of them dance!||||A special shoutout to Sarthak, who took me on a guided morning walk and shared some really interesting insights about the lake and its surroundings. The views from the far side of the lake were simply breathtaking.||||The food and hospitality were top-notch. Nakul and Bhawar ji took incredible care of us throughout our stay. And Chef Kalu Singh truly impressed us with his simple yet delicious meals. The breakfast spread was generous and thoughtfully catered to our dietary preferences.||||All in all, our stay was unforgettable. The property is beautiful, but it’s the warmth and hospitality of the people that made it truly special. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature.

We visited in early Jan when it was pretty cold. We stayed for 4 nights. The place is an Instagrammer's dream...so picturesque... barren as well as green in places, a lake, peacocks running around! Not to mention the pool which was out of the world.||The staff is very friendly and caring. The food is fantastic- we tried rajasthan fare every single day.||There were trips around the property to the sunset point, then to a fort in ruins... a couple of breakfasts were served in their veggie garden.||There are only 12 cottages in this huge property. The cottages have everything u need and r very pretty. We got the farthest ones which meant we had beautiful walks before and after every meal.||In all simply 5 stars

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights en-route between Jodhpur and Udaipur, during a 16 day 'Golden Triangle' trip. It provided a perfect relaxing break from the frenetic experiences of the cities and sights of Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan. We were very well attended to at the Brij Lakshman by Jai and Pooja, and thoroughly enjoyed a morning yoga session with Amul, the dawn nature walk with Saarthak and the cooking class and spice making demonstration. Our cottage, No. 12, was beautiful, and located in an especially remote spot with a picturesque view of the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and must say that Mr Singh runs a very efficient operation.

Excellent property in the middle of nature with polite and helpful staff. The food is very tasty much fresh and straight from farm picked. Not the miss the morning alarm of the peacocks chirping outside the room. Kudos to brij group........
