Wow. Do not miss a night at Brimi Sæter. In many years of travel, this is one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. The dinner is incredible .. and the breakfast spread may just be the best in Europe.

Solo traveler from Montana USA. Just driving around between Lom and Otta on May 4th 2024 I found my way up here. Interesting area for sure and I’ll be back to really explore in the coming year or two.

This place is close to nature. Just remember to bring good shoes and clothes, and you have the nature just outside their door. ||We stayed in their tipi. Nice beds. sound of animals, wind, rain and water just outside. ||Their food is excellent. They have traditional Norwegian Sour Cream Porridge. Brown Cheese. And alot of other Norwegian food. Just have to love this place

Nice location with a lot of different farm animals that can be petted and interacted with (cows/calves, pigs, goats, sheep, hens and cats). The main attraction here is the "Skråpåtå" raclette 4-course dinner where you get a metal cage full of red hot coal on your table that you use to melt their home made cheese. There's also some storytelling in Norwegian about the history of the farm/sæter and the traditions of the area. Don't stay here if you're afraid of cows.

We arrived several families for a lunch. The very first thing that happened was that we witnessed the slaughtering of a goat which had been injured by a car! More excitement came later when some of the youngsters among us got to milk cows - with their hands! We ate "rømmegrøt", a traditional porridge, which was excellent. Looks a bit pricy at first, but when you realize you get seconds and can eat as much meat as you like, well then it's a bargain. And boy did we eat! The restaurant sells a wide variety of food and drinks, plenty to bring with you for further enjoyment. Staff was excellent, both in the shop/restaurant as well as those who were taking care of the animals. Children and parents enjoyed the nice atmosphere, friendly people and good food/drink. Did I mention the brilliant nature that surrounds this mountain farm? And, not to forget, they make their own cheese, and you can go into the cheese cellar to have a look before you buy some pieces!

A super cozy mountain cafe simply offer Norwegian traditional food and drinks. You can choose to sit outside or inside (upstairs). Trys their sour cream porridge (rømmegrøt)..the best one I ever ate. You pay once and get refill for your food👍

The location looks like something from a fairytale. It's open landscape, with mountains on the sides, right by a lake. We rented the biggest cabin as my family went there to celebrate my father's birthday. It has a very charmy look. The cabin has 4 bedrooms, one connected with the living room. One little kitchen with a freezer and a fridge, one bathroom and a toilet. The food consists mainly of local food and tastes so good! The "Skrå-på tå menu" was a real exiting experience with so many good tastes! The fish soup is the best I've ever tried (and I've tried a few). Accompanied with the food Hans Brimi played his fiddle and told legends and stories from his own life. Great service and you really feel at home when you're there. Highly recommend! 🙂

We've decided to stop here for a dinner and a nightstay during our last on the road vacation in central Norway. The place is awesome: the nature around, the animals and all the commune spaces were truly magical. At the check-in the staff warned us about a consistent group of guests expected that evening, in fact they had a planned dinner and a nightstay of this group of colleagues at the end of a business meeting. We slept in the small room over the cheese factory, not far from the dinner space, and it wasn't easy because of the considerable numbers of the guests made difficult the sleep, due to late noise. Moreover during the dinner one of the group silenced us few times during the long long speeches in norwegian. I was not there to be shutted up and listen corporate speeches in a language I do not understand, but just have a dinner and a small talk with my friends in the more respectful way for the other guests. When we waked up in the morning we fought to conquer the shower, obviously very dirty after 50 people used it (the toilet with shower in the main house was one and the same for restaurant, our room and all the bunk beds). The place is very bautiful, the food is average, the services poor if I consider the price we paid. Undoubltely the place is undersized compared to the guests number of that evening/night. We paid €200 per person for a preset menu dinner, a very small and not quiet room, a toilet shared with other 50 persons, too much IMHO.
