Brit Hotel Les Comtes de Champagne

A very romantic and authentic hotel in the middle of the old town of Troyes. The room was in the annex, a bit outdated, but then again, what to expect from a middle-aged building. A comfortable King-size bed. Great breakfast, dogs allowed, and private parking. Make sure to reserve a parking spot when booking, because there is limited space. On arrival, call ahead so they can open the gate for you; otherwise, you'll hold up traffic in the narrow street. Excellent, friendly staff, nice bar. Lots of restaurants close by.

Decent rooms but no airconditioning and poor insulation. These rooms get quite hot in the summer. Also no noise insulation from the other guests or the drunken revelers and cars in the street. The rooms are nicely decorated and well maintained. However there's a very bad motion sensor in the bathroom for the light that constantly turns on when you're not in there and turns off when you're standing/sitting still for 3 seconds. A light next to the bed has no socket so is completely non functional. It's a charming hotel in an old building and they try their best. However for the price (130 euros) I'd expect a better night's rest.

Brilliant location for central Troyes. However the room was very poor. I paid a premium above my friend’s room rate as mine was apparently a premium room. As the photos will show - it was far from that. Really poor quality room. Staff were friendly and breakfast on a par for a 2 star hotel.

A charming, old, hotel in Troyes. Very well placed for the centre of town (5 minute walk) off road, private parking either in their garage, or across the road in their other premises. Hot water for the shower was very hit and miss when I stayed there in the middle of June, so shower when you can. Breakfast was very plentiful on a buffet system. Only gripe I have is, the walls, like most hotels in France, seem to be made of cardboard and the same for the flooring materials of the upstairs rooms.

Parking was fully booked so couldn't park at the hotel so parked in the main carpark 3 mins walk away.

We booked this 1 night stay mainly because of the secure car park as we were travelling with e-bikes. |We pre booked the parking which was 10 euros. |Staying in a standard very small double which was very basic and cramped. If you decide to stay go in one of the bigger rooms. |The breakfast was great and staff were friendly. |Very central place

This was rather a nice surprise. The hotel is in the middle of Troyes (jolly convenient for visiting the Rashi house) It is simple and old-fashioned with no lift or air-conditioning. But it’s clean, with good showers, nice staff, who are very helpful, an effective fan in the room and is inexpensive. |Plus the breakfast is very good value at €11.50pp with a range of croissants etc, breads, cereals, meat, cheese, fruit and fruit salad plus home-made jam. Coffee not so great but that’s so often the way. |We would stay again.

The hotel is right in the centre of Troyes and is divided into two parts half on either side of the road. We stayed in the main building in one of the “superior” rooms which had a four poster bed and massive arched fireplace! The rooms in the main building are all different and it’s a bit of pt luck as to which one you get. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. What more could you ask for?|On arriving we were shown to our pre-booked parking place across the road (I’d advise doing this, it’s worth the extra) and checked in in a very friendly and efficient way and throughout our stay all of the hotel staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was very good with a reasonable choice but the tables that had had been already used took a very long time to be cleared for new diners. This does need to be tightened up.

The Comtes de Champagne is a nice hotel in an older building within the historic district of Troyes. The rooms are relatively large and nicely furnished. However, the quality of the rooms varies: Whereas my colleagues had a nice room with canopy bed and an old fireplace (no longer in use), my room had no special furnishing. The breakfast is good, with a variety of cheese and cold meat. All in all the hotel is a clear recommendation for a nice stay in Troyes.

old, ruddy, faded, awful rooms - the Lonely Planet called it charming, I call it not recommendable at ALL !!
