It was our second visit to this place, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Since we had our dog with us, we opted to stay in the bar, and they were accommodating. For a Saturday evening, the atmosphere was relaxed and easy to navigate, allowing us to chat without feeling overwhelmed. The food was absolutely delicious! Our only complaint was the bread. It was disappointing to have such high-quality food paired with the cheapest type of bread. However, the pea soup was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the calamari were perfectly cooked. For the main course, the lamb was absolutely delicious, and the North Indian food was simply superb. The prices seemed fair as well. To be repeated 😊

Great location with beautiful views. In the garden they have a children’s play area to keep them entertained and plenty of tables with water bowls for dogs. Loved the interior! Food - generous portion sizes…however, our main dishes were unfortunately both really salty! We had the pie & duck leg. We couldn’t finish it due to this and didn’t want to raise the point as the kitchen was going to close very shortly and felt bad. It was a shame as we were really looking forward to our dinner and had made a reservation a week in advance . I would still return and give Britannia inn another try.

We were very disappointed with our visit. The first impression you have is that of a lovely traditional country pub and you have great expectations of the food and service. However it fell short as soon as we walked in. The young girl in the bar couldn't be bothered to engage in conversation when asked if we could have lunch, instead just pointing at the menu on the bar with a grunt. We found our own table only to find the glasses laid out were absolutely stinking and the menus were to match with food, drink stains and very sticky. The restaurant area is grubby with visible large stains eye level on the net curtains. Unfortunately the meal was very underwhelming. We both went for the salt marsh lamb burger which was lacking any imagination from the chef. The chips were not homemade and very dry,the bun was one of those pre sliced cheap supermarket rubbish with a bit of warm lettuce hanging out and it was no where near the price point of £16.00. It is a shame as it has the potential to be a lot better. The screams of the chef coming from the kitchen bellowing what he had just cooked were off-putting. All in all a very disappointing visit for what I can only describe as... A pub chain quality meal and service hiding inside the exterior of a nice looking pub.

No wonder it is highly rated, the food is magnificent, a step up from pub grub. They'd ran out of HPA ale when I arrived and only had Doombar as an alternative, was looking for something more local. As it is first come, first served basis ordering at the bar - not great when there is a twenty strong running club in front of you - didn't expect that on a Thursday evening. Staff are lovely, but the food is the selling point, the kind you'd find in a high end restaurant.

Great Sunday lunch at the Britannia inn. The service and location were great. Excellent beer garden that provided stunning views of the estuary and full of families enjoying the sunshine.

Very busy on banking holiday lunch, food is amazing and ordered the lamb shoulder. Love the outdoor seating area and playground for the kids.

Incredible turkey Sunday roast. Ordered a side order of red cabbage that changed my life! And don't even get me started on the gravy. Oh the gravy! How in the world can they make that so good? I think you need reservations for the upper level restaurant, but we were welcomed to the delightful, warm pub. Hubby ordered fish and chips which was plentiful but not a match to Sunday roast. It's something special.

I have to say everytime I go here I am blown away by the great service, lovely atmosphere and perfect menu. It's fantastic to see some dishes you don't see at other places locally. Everything is so tasty and well presented. The duck leg yesterday was super, tender & sweet meat, crispy skin and beautiful accompaniments. I have to say very reasonably priced too for the quality of food! We even got to sit by the log fire for our lunch yesterday, what a nice treat! Thank You all

Yelp
We were visiting Gower and Googles where to eat in Gower and the Brittania had glowing reviews. 5 Starts because the atmosphere was cosy and friendly, the menu was diverse with very interesting pairings, and the food was totally divine, and the service was excellent without being intrusive. They do offer a vegetarian menu, but their seafood options were too tantalizing to ignore! It's a shame I live in California, otherwise this would deffinately be a local haunt.

Yelp
I ran here yesterday morning. The beer garden was a nice place to relax and warm down afterwards, and the ale provided the necessary carbohydrate replacements

Yelp
Think there's nothing worse than a whiney vegetarian? Try a hungry vegetarian. This kind of place sends me into a realm of lamentation... Roasted vegetables and pasta. The one and only veggie main. Not overly challenging. Everything else looked lovely when it came out and people were enjoying their carnivorous delights. Why then can the one veggie meal on your menu not be of a standard with your other food? Its not hard to create something palatable with these raw ingredients. What appeared however was a culinary disaster and a crime against several imaginary laws of taste. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Tasteless, watery, soggy, eeekiness . I took it back an explained very nicely that I had hoped for something edible and after some defensive huffing was offered a Thai Curry. I would like to say that what appeared was more palatable but by that point I would have eaten the waitress. So I determinedly overlooked the fact that some of the earlier travesty of vegetables had most likely made a second appearance on my plate. Please try harder Britannia Inn, both with attitude and meat free cuisine. I'm sure your meaty stuff is tasty and my folks enjoyed theirs. But if you are investing in refurbishing the place in order to try and improve your reputation, maybe you could think about a refurb of your veggie menu also. Vegetarians have the right to deliciousness too.
