"Departing London and touring destinations like Cambridge, York, and Canterbury, I experienced the British Pullman as a magical, Art Deco-infused journey: restored 1920s–30s carriages, polished interiors, and classically prepared multi-course meals give the sense of traveling in polished, royal company." - Todd Plummer
"A restored-vintage luxury train experience is reviving a celebrity chef dinner series this spring, inviting four different Michelin-starred chefs to present five-course meals that include welcome Champagne, a wine pairing, and a roundtrip ride on the train; each dinner is priced at $686 per person. On April 18, chef Theo Randall — known for many years cooking at the Michelin-starred The River Café in New York City — returns and will focus on using springtime seasonal ingredients to create a unique menu. On May 22, chef Phil Howard, who held two Michelin stars for over a decade, will design a French menu suited to the service's opulent settings. On June 13, chef Andrew Wong — whose eponymous A. Wong in London holds two Michelin stars — will bring innovative takes on Chinese cuisine, and on Oct. 24 chef Atul Kochhar, who once helmed the first Indian restaurant in the world to earn a Michelin star, will celebrate creative British Indian cuisine. Craig Moffat, the general manager, said: “We are excited to launch a new chef series which showcases the various facets of the British culinary landscape on the [train], with internationally acclaimed chefs expanding its presence into new destinations and new fusion cuisines. The series is a true celebration of the fine dining experience that has made the train a cherished icon, seamlessly blending its rich heritage with the dynamic evolution of modern British cuisine.” The service operates from February to December, running roundtrip daily journeys across the British countryside in several restored vintage carriages (including one completely redesigned by Wes Anderson); beyond the chef series it also offers themed trips such as murder mystery lunches and cabaret dinners. The dining setup is illustrated by a table set in the Zena Carriage, one of the train's restored dining carriages." - Alison Fox Alison Fox Alison Fox is a Travel + Leisure contributor. "The British Pullman by Belmond offers a luxurious journey through England's countryside with art-deco carriages, delicious seasonal food, and trips to historic sites like Chatsworth House and Highclere Castle." - Travel + Leisure Editors
"I recommend the British Pullman for fans of Wes Anderson: you can ride in the "Cygnus" carriage built in the 1950s and redesigned by Wes Anderson in 2021, and themed rides across England — from a murder mystery luncheon to star guest-chef dinners — are designed to transport passengers back into a glamorous past." - Cailey Rizzo Cailey Rizzo Cailey Rizzo is a contributing writer for Travel + Leisure.
