I stayed at Brocco for one night from 12th to the 13th August 2025. I have stayed at Brocco previously and I love the vibe that Brocco has and the service has always been great, hence why I opted to stay here again. I booked the same room (The Dovecote), and the room is tailored to such high standards and it’s a really special place to stay. Everything was clean and tidy and we were welcomed at the reception with a really warm welcome. ||We had booked the restaurant for the evening (again having eaten there previously) and have always been impressed with the quality of food etc. ||I am a vegetarian and had specified this on the booking. The menu had changed since I last visited, and whilst the starters were vegetarian/vegan there was nothing on the menu, for a main dish, that I could have eaten apart from the mushroom risotto (I would have struggled if I didn’t like mushrooms) but thankfully I do eat them. I was then informed that there was not any risotto available, but the chef could make me linguine in a tomato sauce with mushrooms, I was more than happy with this and appreciated the effort. For a starter I had ‘Mushroom Parfait’ which was absolutely delicious and it was presented beautifully. My friend had ordered a steak for a main and asked for it to be rare. There was a long period after the starters for the mains to be served (roughly 25/30 minutes). Unfortunately my friend had to return the steak as it had been cooked to a medium not rare, so the waitress took it away for another to be cooked. This did spoil the vibe for me as I had to eat my meal as, if I had waited, my meal would have gone cold. The second steak then arrived but again this was not rare (more medium/rare). My friend didn’t send this back as frankly we didn’t have the time to wait for another to be prepared. My friend did inform the waitress of this when the plates were being taken away and she kindly took the steak off the bill. ||Speaking of the waitress, Tegan, I have to comment on how professional, courteous and kind she was. She apologised for the issues we had encountered and she was the only waitress (that I could see anyway) working that evening and she really couldn’t have been more helpful. ||Whilst the evening was not as smooth as we could have liked, we had voiced our concerns in a polite manner to our waitress. ||Once back in the room the air conditioning had been left on in the hope the room would be cool due to how hot it was that evening, however the air conditioning system was not satisfactory and the room was stifling all night, which sadly left me with having not very much sleep. ||We went down for breakfast the next morning, and again the lovely Tegan was serving us. I wanted to order the pasty selection but was informed they did not have any pastries available, so we opted for the granola. ||Tegan was also managing the reception desk so upon checkout I did mention to her about the air conditioning unit our room. ||Whilst I would stay at Brocco again, I was disappointed with some factors of our stay (as mentioned) but the customer service from Tegan really made up for it.
