Google
Food is Da Bomb.com. Highly recommend the Kalua Pork and don’t skip the Lemonade. All food is take out, stop at the Old Kona Airport park to eat.

Google
The Garlic Chicken was awesome! The Macaroni Salad had a little twist and included eggs. We didn’t care for the Fried Rice - thought it was a bit bland and dry. Overall, food was just ok and didn’t live up to the hype. Take out only.

Keira Klose

Google
Heard some good things about this place so decided to check it out. It did not disappoint! Food was super tasty, serving sizes are pretty good as well. They do not have seating inside it’s take out only. But 4 min drive away is the old kona airport which has lots of parking and a nice quiet beach with tables to sit at.

Google
The food is great! We tried the Chicken Furikaki Plate! Service was very slow even when the number of people we minimal. The atmosphere is Hot Hot Hot as they don't have enough air-condition in the place. Made the wait feel even longer. If they has air conditioner full blast then I think the wait may not had felt as long.

AB Ndev

Google
I got the spicy garlic shrimp but I think my order got messed up because my food had 0 spice. Shrimp could have used more flavor. My husband got the pork and it was pretty average. Good portion size though!! It might have been amazing at one point but we did not feel that way. Definitely average. Maybe was hyped up by Food Network and vloggers. Homemade lemonade was pretty good though! I love that it comes in a mason jar so you can choose to take it home or give it back to the restaurant.

Google
Let me start by saying fantastic food. This is a takeout only location with no place to sit and eat. We went down to the old airport Park and enjoyed the beach and scenery about 3 min away. Not a long wait for your food being there at 11:30. The Garlic Furikake Chicken was the bomb. The Jared lemonades are one of a kind too.

Anne Borja

Google
I ordered the garlic furikake chicken and it was yummy! Serving was huge so you can definitely share with another person. It also comes with one other side apart from the two scoops of rice and the side orders also were pretty generous portions. Only downside is that there's no place to dine in, it's really just for take out but it's nice to bring the food to a park or a beach nearby. The wait for the food to be ready is quite long but worth it.

Google
I really miss their dine in location. But that same Amazing food is waiting for you to take home. The short ribs are Da Bomb 💣 The Mac salad is killer, as well as the purple sweet potato salad.

Yelp
I visited Broke Da Mouth Grindz in Kona, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! This spot is a local gem known for its flavorful Hawaiian and Filipino comfort food. We tried their garlic furikake chicken, and it was incredible--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with bold garlic flavor. The furikake added a great umami twist. We also had their kalbi short ribs, which were juicy, perfectly marinated, and grilled to perfection. The sides, like mac salad and rice, rounded out the meal nicely. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with a real local vibe that makes you feel right at home. The portions were generous, and the staff was friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. If you're in Kona and looking for a spot that serves flavorful, satisfying meals with a laid-back island vibe, Broke Da Mouth Grindz is a must-visit.

Diana T.

Yelp
Yeah, they broke my mouth all right--from being so good! We tried the Garlic Furikake Chicken, Purple Mac Salad, Garlic Shrimp, and their fresh juices, and every bite was incredible. The flavors were bold, unique, and absolutely crave-worthy. It's easy to see why this spot was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Whether you're a local or just visiting Kona, this place is a must-visit for some seriously delicious grindz!

Yelp
This was our very first stop after the getting the car rental when we landed on the island. They might have just opened, so there wasn't a line when we got inside. There's lots of options to choose from, but you won't go wrong with whatever you decide to get. We got two plates (which is hellaaaa food) and a juice. Definitely get the shrimp, pork belly adobo, and as many sides as you can. We got the mac and ube? Both super delicious with the meats and rice. It's already good-- go sit by the beach and it's even better. 5/5 would come back.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
We arrived a little after they opened at 11AM, and there were already some people there! Since there wasn't a dine-in option, we ordered takeout and headed to the beach. We decided on the 2-choice mixed plate w/ 2 sides each: Garlic Furikake Chicken with white rice and egg macaroni salad + Garlic Butter Shrimp with white rice and kimchee. We also tried the Lilikoi lemonade drink. The food was amazing, and it had an authentic Hawaiian taste! The portion sizes were generous and every bite was full with flavor. The sides complemented the main dishes perfectly. The furikake chicken was delicious - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The shrimp had a delightful texture and rich flavor. I also noticed the spicy furikake chicken was a popular choice, so that is definitely on my list for our next visit, along with trying a different flavored drink. Can't wait to come back!

Carole B.

Yelp
So ono and the portions are HUGE. The chicken was crispy and cross crossed with aioli and sauce along with furikake. The garlic shrimp was delish as was the fried fish. I am not a macaroni salad girl but this one blew my mind. So creamy and rich and not overly sweet. The purple potato salad hit the spot. Take the advice posted near the counter and head to beautiful old airport beach where there are plenty of picnic tables and the view of the ocean can't be beat!

Jessica Y.

Yelp
We came here the first time we visited in 2016 and knew we had to come back! The portions are ridiculous and 1000% worth the price. We ordered the garlic furikake chicken plate and upgraded to pork adobo fried rice with a side of purple sweet potatoes as well as short ribs with brown rice and corn. This fed three of us with plenty of leftovers. The chicken is really crispy, but not covered in too much breading. The short ribs were a very generous portion and so tender that we didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sweet potato side is worth trying as well! I'm not usually a fan of potato salad because the mayo can be overwhelming, but this one is very unique with some bacon bits. The mayo was really light so I actually tasted/enjoyed the sweetness of the purple potato. Only downside is that this place doesn't allow dine-in. There are lots of orders coming in, so it helps to place an order online for pick-up.

Audrey L.

Yelp
Their food game is very strong. There is usually a line here so come before you're hungry so you can guarantee your spot and order what you want. When we came last year there was only takeout and no dine-in. They have fun specials and I highly recommend their three meat combo. We got the beef bulgogi, kalua pork, and garlic shrimp, which were amazing. The pork belly adobo fries are super delicious but may possibly spike your cholesterol levels just by looking at them. Literally not for the faint of heart. Definitely a spot worth trying if you're ever in Hawaii.

Clara L.

Yelp
So good! Our group went back to this many times during our trip. Probably the best food we got on this island. cash only, and fast turn around during lunch time.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Location is still closed due to a fire. So sad Website says it's supposed to open back up on January 29.....

Melissa H.

Yelp
Amazing flavor with every bite, worth every penny and minute of waiting!! Just landed in Kona, and went with some friends who are very familiar with the area/good eats around here! We had to stop by Broke Da Mouth on our first night here. We got the 3 plate combo with the Spicy Garlic Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, and Pork Belly Fat Adobo. Our friends got the same plate but instead of the adobo, they got the panko fish. Seriously, each bite was incredible and the perfect first meal in Kona. As foodies we need that first "MMMMmmm" moment when taking a bite of food, this place definitely checked all boxes. staff is nice, waiting area is spacious. No indoor seating/eating btw!! PLEASE check this place out and support local businesses

Charnie D.

Yelp
First time in the big island and have to try Broke Da Mouth Grindz. The pork belly was fatty and rich and the sauce pair it up perfectly. The braised beef was fatty and tender! It gives a bite of juice when eating into it. The adobo rice what whatever in my opinion. The spicy furikake chicken fries was decent, nothing wild about it. Overall the meal was pretty fatty in flavor and kind of overload me. I would recommend sharing it cuz I was only able to a quarter of each plate.

Arielle G.

Yelp
Any place that has a name like that warrants a visit, right? I guess we were lucky and came at the perfect time because there was only one person ahead of us. No dine-in option. It did take about 20 minutes to prepare our food, but there are signs saying it could take a while. We ordered the 2-choice mixed plate: the spicy garlic furikake chicken (no it wasn't too spicy) and garlic shrimp over adobo fried rice. I am so glad we shared because the meal was HUUUUGE! So much flavor in every bite! The garlic shrimp was delicious and even though the chicken was drenched in sauce, it was still crispy. The adobo fried rice took a back seat to everything else, so I would've been fine with just regular white rice.

Vanessa L.

Yelp
This was our first meal when we arrived in Hawaii. I thought it was a sit down kinda restaurant but you actually have to order and then leave. There's even a sign in the waiting area that says no eating. Anyways, it took about 15 mins of waiting for our food. I ordered the garlic spicy furikake chicken. My mom got a 3 item combo which came with the chicken, shrimp and a braised beef short rib. TBH I thought the food was just ok... Nothing special about the chicken.. it was underwhelming. It was a let down despite all the reviews. I think out of everything the short rib was the best. It was soft and flavorful. Glad I at least got to try this place but I wouldn't come back.

Katherine G.

Yelp
This was probably our favorite spot all trip! The spicy garlic furikake chicken is an absolute must get. They are takeout only, and the wait time does take a while so I would recommend ordering ahead. They have a bunch of seats for you to wait at, but no where to eat. We got a 3 item combo with the spicy garlic furikake chicken, pork belly adobo, and kalua pork. It also came with white rice and macaroni egg salad. Honestly the kalua pork wasn't that impressive - it was a bit dry and bland. The pork adobo was really yummy and was so soft and tender that it melted in my mouth. Like I said though, the spicy garlic furikake chicken - YUM. I would have gotten just that if I knew how good it was. The spicy mayo on top of the crispy outside and juicy inside chicken was so so perfect. Order ahead and you won't regret it!

Renata R.

Yelp
Came to eat here based on Yelp reviews. I also didn't want to eat at any of the upscale restaurants, I wanted to eat where the locals go. This place is simple- you order your food, take a seat and wait for it. It took about 15 min to prep our food as they make it fresh to order. There is a sign inside informing you that it may take up to 25 min. I am ok with that, and the wait is worth it. The food here is so good and I couldn't wait to dig in. The menu has nice options and allows you to choose 2 or 3 different meats and sides. I got the rib, kalua pork and chicken. Side of adobo rice, and dessert. OMG!!!!! This food if so delicious, I will dream of it when we return to NYC! If you're on the island this is a good spot to try. AMAZING!

Marilyn V.

Yelp
In Kailua Kona and this was recommended by a friend. It's a takeout-only restaurant, so there are many seats inside while you wait for the order. It's a busy restaurant and seating area is full. Ordered the BBQ Chicken and Pork Belly Fat Adobo. Both are very good. These are dishes that make heaping rice a must! And that's what they offer - 2 scoops of white or brown rice and a side of kimchi, pickled cucumber, corn or macaroni. Sinful but good!

Ariana J.

Yelp
Exceptional, one of the best and flavour blast meals we've had so far in Hawaii. My husband and I tried this restaurant today for lunch. We got: Spicy chicken ferukake (as per literally everyone's suggestion on Yelp), kimchee fried rice(+$2) and side of cucumber kimchee. The chicken was so tasty, tender, juicy and freshly made. Topped with ferukake, spicy sauce and scallions. It was piping hot and a delight to eat. The kimchee fried rice was exceptionally good. So yummy and tasty. Very fresh and had the burnt crispy bits from the hot pan's bottom. Cucumber Kimchee: deliciously fermented crunchy cucumbers in spicy lunches spices. Excellent combination to the main course. The sides comes with 2 sides that you can select from. One is the rice options definitely go with the kimchee fried rice. And another choice of kimchee cucumber (heard even the Mac was great) Huge portions!! My husband and I were super hungry after 4 hours of snorkelling trip so this was the best start to the day. We devoured this dish in minutes. Since it's only takeout, definitely drive 4 mins to Kona Old airport recreational center for fantastic beach views and shaded benches. We also picked up the plum pineapple freshly prepared juice in mason jar. This was refreshing and yummy. We downed this waiting for our order. We are going to definitely stop by one more time before we fly back home.

Yelp
While visiting Hawaii in the summer of 2023 we were looking for a restaurant in the area and we found Broke Da Mouth Grindz KONA on Yelp and I am glad that we did. This restaurant has been featured on TV shows and is known for large / huge / ginormous portions and they are not joking. You can see pictures here on Yelp. The meals and the desserts are over the top large, but also delicious. The location is off of a main road and in a strip mall, but plenty of parking. They lines can be really long, but they move fast, it just takes time to make the food. There is no bathroom in the facility but there is one in the strip mall, you just need to leave your cell phone with them and they will give you a large kechain and the bathroom key. I guess I was feeling hungrier than I really was and ordered way too much food. I ordered an avocado cheeseburger and tasty fries, and a garlic furikake chicken meal plate with pork, garlic butter shrimp, corn and brown rice, and a unicorn ice cream pie dessert. It was so much food, but so good. Tasty and filling and I think about this meal from time to time. I wish they had a location in San Diego. The burger was delicious like most burgers, and the fries were tasty too. The garlic furikake chicken plate was full of umami flavor, I could eat this every day. The unicorn dessert was a sight to behold, and was interesting with fruity pebble coating on the outside.

Andy L.

Yelp
Very hole in the wall (lol edit..wrote wall in the hole earlier) location tucked away with a simple logo. In a plaza, so plenty of parking, easy. No washroom and no dine-in tables, takeout only. Kind of a sour/musty smell inside, kids didn't like it so they opted to wait in the car. Really wanted to try the ube ice cream, but they only have a "feeds 3-4" portion size, and was too big for us. Instead we just got the garlic furikake chicken, spicy garlic butter shrimp special, and kalua pork. Overall, the food was just okay. The chicken was probably the best out of the three. The shrimp was over sauced and over fried, the kalua pork lacked flavor.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Great food! Stopped by this place from a friend's recommendation. Good portions and very flavorful food! Definitely worth stopping by! Also got the lemonade - super tasty. The only thing is they didn't have seats for anyone to eat, so it's currently a takeout place. Parking was good. I heard there's usually a line, by when we went at 5:30pm, we were good!

Cathy S.

Yelp
Food here was definitely "broke da mouth" as the locals would say and the only reason for 4 stars is due to lack of seating to actually enjoy the food there and the cucumber kimchi being too salty. We stopped by here for lunch before our afternoon flight on multiple recommendations and we are so glad we got to try! This parking lot is easy to miss but the parking lot has good amount of parking spaces. This place is only take-out now and it's set up to maximum that process. You walk in and order at the counter, although it did take a couple minutes to be greeted and acknowledged by the staff (but I understand it was busy for lunch on a Friday). After you order, you get a number and they have a seating area to wait for your order to be called. We maybe waited around 15 minutes and we ordered the 2-side plate including their famous furikake chicken with spicy sauce on the side and Adobo Pork Belly that came with a vinegar sauce to cut through the richness, and side of rice and Mac salad and an extra side of cucumber kimchi. Since there was no seating inside to eat it, we searched around and ended up beachside at the Old Airport park (which looked like a popular spot for people to go after ordering from surrounding businesses). The chicken was crunchy but juicy and very flavorful. The pork belly was fatty but the vinegar helped balance that fattiness. Unfortunately the cucumber kimchi was way too salty so we didn't end up finishing it. I would highly recommend getting your plate lunch here and take it to the beach to enjoy!

Connie C.

Yelp
As long as you in there with the expectation of waiting then go for it. They have these flavored drinks that I say go for it! Food items are great! Food portions are not stingy at all. We were a group of 4 so we all tried different items and none of us were disappointed!

Keia C.

Yelp
We decided to use Yelp to guide us where to eat this day and it did not steer us in the wrong direction. My only gripe was that we couldn't sit down and eat but had to take our food to go. There were some in our party that didn't see anything they were in the mood for so they went elsewhere but the hubby and I, my niece and one daughter were down to give this place a try! It's a super small place and only had one person taking orders but he was friendly and helpful. He informed us that it would be about a 30 minute wait for our food but the smells coming from the back had me willing to wait. I decided to try the Choice Mixed Plate with the Slow Braised Beef Ribs and the Spicy Furikake Chicken. Everything was superb. My daughter got the animal style hamburger with a fried egg, bacon and spam on it. She loved it so much she devoured it and refused to share. The hubby got the Choice Mixed Plate with the Spicy Furikake Chicken and the pork belly adobo with the adobo fried rice. My niece got the Purple Mac Salad and said it was amazing. This place was amazing and I will definitely hit them back up next time!

Jeremy H.

Yelp
FOOD I am glad I came. Not everything was a hit but if I came back I would adjust my selection to their sides and Kalua pork and pass on the Furikaki chicken. The Furikaki skin was fried and a bit tough but I've gone to other Kona locations and I think that's actually how it's supposed to be. I'm used to softer skin you could cut with a fork so it wouldn't be my first preference going forward. THE KALUA PORK. Get ittttttt. It's the best I had on the Big Island, and just as a comparison, Broke Da Mouth Grindz's Kalua pork outshone two popular Luaus' pork I tried before and after eating here. Their macaroni salad is good but I never expect much from macaroni salad in general. I'm yet to try a macaroni salad anywhere that set my spirit ablaze with passion (if you have any recommendations, message me because I want to believe!). But the egg they added to the salad saved the day with another layer of flavor. With all the flair of their combo dish presentation (see photos), I did expected the mac salad to POP more than it did. The rice was ok but needed help from the other food items to really perform. When eaten at the same time as the chicken or PORK, and then the provided sauce, the dish really starts to sing to your soul. It's island soul food, my friend. Go try it out! SERVICE Kind and receptive cashiers. Be kind to them because they are getting slammed right now due to the place's popularity. AMBIANCE Cool atmosphere and lots of entertaining signs you can read while you wait for your food. The bold wall decor is fun to admire.

Doris D.

Yelp
The garlic chicken is a must! I get the mini and they put all the chicken on top a bed of french fries. I didn't think the chicken needed to be fire hosed with mayo so next time I'll ask them to hold the mayo.

Grace L.

Yelp
Had a late lunch here. Warning, there's no eating inside. Take out only. Got the garlic chicken and the different fruit drinks from their fridge. All the drinks were refreshing. Really big portions so we had leftovers for two meals. The chicken was so crispy and full of flavor. The only downer was that there was no sit down seating so we had to find a beach somewhere.

Serenity L.

Yelp
This is a little shop with spectacular food. Its definitely a grab and go shop as there is no seating inside to eat. Half of the restaurant is converted to ordering and the other half has seats for people to wait for their food. Please be mindful, during their peak times it can be a 30-45 min wait. I would say me and my friends waited about 20-25 minutes until our food was done. I ordered the 2 choice Mixed Plate (5/5): Spicy Garlic Butter Shrimp and the Pork Belly Adobo with Kimchi Fried Rice and a side of the Purple Sweet Potato Salad with Bacon and Eggs. The Spicy Garlic Butter Shrimp was so delicious. It was pretty spicy but that's just how I like it. The Pork Belly Adobo was also delicious. I loved the fattiness of the pork belly. The Kimchi Fried Rice was also good, but I would've preferred a stronger kimchi flavor. I felt like that was lacking a little. The Sweet Potato Salad was a must try! Its pretty dense, but its soo good. Mango Lemonade (5/5): A bit on the pricier side but was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY !! It was so refreshing and it comes in a mason jar. I definitely took the mason jar home (my souvenir)

Lila C.

Yelp
The food is very good, and reasonable price. We got a lot of food for a good price. They all tasted good, especially the fried fish, awesome. The fruit lemonade is also good, real fruits in it, a little pricy but worth it somehow. It's just there is no place to sit and no service lol. I guess everyone is there just for the food.

Will C.

Yelp
This was the first place we went to on the big island. Literally got off the plane, rented the car and drove to Broke Da Mouth. We all got the garlic Furikake chicken. It totally lived up to the hype. Incredibly tasty, juicy, tender and crunchy on the outside. Even the sides like the kim chi, spicy cucumbers and the Mac salad were delicious. I wished we had gone one more time before heading back home. If I ever get to come back, this will again be our first stop!

Ryan B.

Yelp
Few things here were amazing. I love spicy things but I'm always curious if they are going to be too hot. This was perfect. Service was great. My kids had an avocado burger which was also something they loved. We are here for 8 days and considering going back before we leave the island. FYI - We got here at 6:45 from the airport and they closed at 7. We had a big group so they put the closed sign up right as we went in. It was pretty busy the entire time we were there. We also ended up eating in the car because you can't eat in there, plan for that.

Yelp
(IG: @foodwithdeni) #dEATs *Visited the famous @brokedamouthgrindz_kona for our last day in Kona !! Yelp
After our long flight from the mainland we were hungry. We found Broke Da Mouth and was not disappointed. We tried to call in our order but no one answered the phone. We couldn't place an order online since pick up was the next day at 11am (whaaat???). So we took a chance and went anyways hoping they were open and they were! It is a strictly to go spot. Once we ordered we took a seat and waited for about 15 mins until our food was ready. We ordered a guava lemonade, and a combo plate with furikake chicken, braised short ribs with adobo rice and mac salad. The furikake chicken was bomb! We thoroughly enjoyed it as well as the ribs. It was a perfect meal and plenty of leftovers! Highly recommend, so good!

Yun C.

Yelp
I stopped by around 1130 on a Saturday and the wait was not too bad. I probably waited around 15-20 minutes for my food (I ordered by walking up to the counter). Considering the humongous portion they gave, their price point was actually very reasonable. I ordered 2 combo plates with short ribs, garlic shrimp, and garlic chicken and short ribs and spicy garlic chicken. For sides, we got buttered corn and Coleslaw. Portion was generous! Even the sides were plentiful (8 oz each). Now for the food, it was good, not great. The short ribs had lots of meat and ok flavor, but the meat did feel a bit dry somewhat and I really had to use the reddish vinegar sauce to enjoy the meat so that it didnt feel too dry. Garlic shrimp was alright, it really was just butter and garlic. The fried chicken was plentiful! The difference between the spicy garlic chicken and the regular garlic chicken is that the spicy version was drizzled with a mayo based sauce. It wasn't spicy though. The chicken was ok, not very moist but certainly had good flavor. 1 combo place can actually easily feed 2 adults! And even 3-4 if you have smaller stomach. The bummer part was that it was a takeout only spot. We ate in front of a gas station on our way to the airport. Overalls, I was glad to check it off the list and tried it, but for me, it wasn't that memorable to come back especially since it was a takeout only and I will have to find a place to eat it.

Christine Z.

Yelp
a pretty small establishment but a good variety of food and drink items! the food also came out fairly fast for the amount of people who were waiting. we got the garlic shrimp, spicy chicken, and fatty pork. we definitely all agreed the garlic shrimp was the best--it had amazing flavor and texture. i liked the spicy chicken and fatty pork as well! both had unique and strong flavors that are very memorable. we also got the guava lemonade, which tasted so accurate and fresh. there's nowhere to eat inside, so we just brought it back to our airbnb, which ended up being a nice and chill time.

Megan M.

Yelp
So you can only really rate the food here. As others have mentioned it is "to go" only. We ordered the spicy garlic furikake chicken with pork fried rice and the kids shared the BBQ chicken with Mac salad. We took our to go box to Ola Brewery just south up the hill (their kitchen was closed so we lucked out!). Food was super tasty. Just the right amount of breading and I loved the sweet and sour hot sauce that came with the chicken. The rice was pretty uneventful so I'd just stick with regular white or brown and don't pay extra. The kids got mango lemonade which one loved and the other thought "alcohol" was in it. overall, highly recommend if you're hungry. Not necessarily an out of your way stop though.

Yelp
This was number one on my list when planning a trip to the big island. After seeing so many raving reviews and the fact that Guy Fieri was here, I was literally sold. We ordered the garlic furikake chicken with a side of purple sweet potato salad with boiled eggs and bacon. The plate is quite big, and definitely shareable between me and my partner. We took it to-go and had been eating it throughout the entire day. The chicken was very flavorful and not dry. Our favorite was definitely the side as you don't see this quite as often! You'd think the combination sounds weird but it melded together quite well. Our favorite surprise is that when on arriving they sell homemade tropical-flavored lemonades in their refrigerator. We got two to go and they ended up being very refreshing. The only tip I have is possibly ordering ahead over the phone. The line can get busy, and when we walked in many people were waiting for their orders. It seemed their wait time was about 30-50 minutes compared to ours only being 15. It's also not a sit-down place anymore but still worth the trip if you're able to eat to-go. Very kind service, clean area, and appeared packed with locals. I hope to come back and check it out again especially when they have all their desserts in stock!

Yelp
Delicious Hawaiian food. Can't dine at the place. All to go. Definitely a good first stop on the big island after a long flight. Huge portions. Ate on it for three days

Yelp
Asked for spicy garlic shrimp but got the regular. Honestly didn't care too much because it was still bomb! Would def. recommend trying if your on this side. It is a little pricey but it comes with 2 sides, mines was rice and kimchi cucumbers and it's pretty large in size.

Yelp
I ordered the garlic furikake chicken and it was yummy! Serving was huge so you can definitely share with another person. It also comes with one other side apart from the two scoops of rice and the side orders also were pretty generous portions. Only downside is that there's no place to dine in, it's really just for take out but it's nice to bring the food to a park or a beach nearby. The wait for the food to be ready is quite long but worth it.

Yelp
3.5~ Came here at 10:58am and was the 2nd person to order. However, the line formed very quickly behind us. We got our food 25 minutes later. Was excited to try this place but it's very mid tbh. Wasn't bad but wasn't amazing. I loved their guava lemonade though. I wouldn't recommend going out your way to come here unless the line is short.

Yelp
Best food we had in Kona. Get the fried chicken and adobo rice. We got the spicy one. It was seriously my favorite thing the whole trip. We also go an order of the shrimp. We got a couple sides too. The kimchi cucumbers were good, I wasn't a fan of the potato salad. BUT the tropical dream desert, YUM! It was huge and def enough to feed us all Pro tip. Order online so you don't have to wait inside.

Yelp
Very heavy meal! The flavors are good but the food way too greasy for me. The lemonade was great though. I got the lilikoi lemonade

Yelp
Wow. What a tasty meal! Our family of 4 each got the 3 choice mixed plate and really enjoyed our meal. The furikake chicken, garlic shrimp and the beef shortrib were delicious. Definitely pay the extra for the kimchee fried rice or the garlic fried rice, you wont regret it! Food portions are big and definitely on the heavier side. While the prices were steep, we ended up eating our food over 3 meals, which made it pretty reasonable. This is a to-go place. There are no tables to dine at but recommend heading to the picnic tables at Old Kona airport for an ocean view. PS. Dont forget to order the li hing pineapple juice too!

Yelp
BIG ISLAND HAWAII 2023 VACATION #10: WHERE'S THE OXTAIL ADOBO? The title of my review is a play on the 1984 Wendy's commercial "Where's the beef?". Five years ago in May during my 5-day vacation at the Big Island I wanted to come here to eat. I was thinking about going to eat here on a Saturday during the day before my nephew's high school graduation that evening. Since my cousin and I were staying at Waikoloa Village I didn't think I would have made the full round trip in time to attend my nephew's high school graduation. However I didn't know that this place was closed on Sundays. Five years later I came back to the Big Island. I came here on a Saturday during Memorial Day Weekend. As with five years ago I would be attending another high school graduation on a Saturday - this time my niece. During my vacation I stayed at Kailua-Kona. This eatery is about an 8-minute drive from the hotel I was staying. I arrived about 10:30 AM and was the second person to enter the eatery after it opened. When I looked at the menu on the wall I noticed for the daily plates that oxtail adobo was not part of the menu. I asked the cashier and she said this eatery doesn't carry that item anymore. I was shocked because during an episode of Broke Da Mouth Grindz on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" the oxtail adobo appeared to be the second most popular item after the garlic furikake chicken. I ended up ordering a 3-item lunch plate of garlic furikake chicken, pork fat belly adobo, and braised beef short ribs. The first item I tried was the garlic furikake chicken. The breading was crunchy with the seasoning adding a slight salty flavor. The second item I tried was the pork belly fat adobo. The meat was moist. The fat was rendered enough to be edible and reminded me of a braised pork belly Chinese dish. The sauce wasn't too oily. What was missing? This adobo wasn't the oxtail, which would have provided a different texture than the pork belly fat. The braised beef short ribs was the best item of the dish as it had a texture similar to brisket. In fact if oxtail isn't available then the beef short ribs should have been in the adobo instead of the pork belly fat. Normally I would rate this place three stars. However after five years of waiting not having the oxtail adobo menu is major disappointment. I don't know what the oxtail adobo would have tasted. From my experience at Broke Da Mouth Grindz the braised beef shortribs tasted better than the pork belly fat adobo. Without the oxtail adobo I stand by my rating as Broke Da Mouth Grindz could've have been better.

Yelp
The 2-item combo plate we ordered was not only very very delicious and the portions are unbelievable. Was able to get two meals from it. I ordered garlic furikake chicken and pork belly adobo with adobo fried rice. Looking forward to try other menu items when we go back to Kona. Everyone in the place are super friendly and looks happy. Service was very fast.

Yelp
Great spot for hearty lunch plates! We got many 2 choice plates and the portion sizes were actually enough for two meals per plate. Very worth; our favorite was the garlic furikake chicken, which stayed crispy even after a long drive. The sides are also incredibly decently portioned -- they come in their own tubs (we were all surprised by this). They also sell fresh juice and lemonade in glass jars -- highly recommend.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Broke da Mouth for so long, and I'm so glad I finally got to try it. There's a really big parking lot, so finding a stall wasn't a problem. Most people order via the kiosks, but I believe they were also taking orders at the front cashier. I ordered two plates, and I probably waited about 25 minutes for my food. It seemed like there were larger groups in front of me though. There are chairs set up to wait, but there is no dining in. There's not much on their menu, and that's when you know the food is going to be good! I got the small size of the kalua pig with a side of sweet potato salad. The portion was huge, and the kalua pig was super juicy! I really enjoyed the sweet potato side dish. It seemed like there was bacon in it, which added a nice touch. I'll definitely come back here if I have the time to wait for food.

Yelp
Very inconspicuous place- hole in the wall; but food is fire and has all the flavor. Took a while to prep; but you know you're getting fresh food. Not a place to sit and eat- it's more of a grab and go; we ate in the car and boy was it nothing short of amazing. Would definitely return!

Yelp
This place is featured on so many guides for Hawaii and for a good reason! We ordered online and that was definitely the way to go, as there was a long line when I arrived to pick up my food. There is no where to sit at the restaurant so be prepared to take it to go. I ordered the spicy garlic furikake chicken regular plate which was huge! The serving was enough for two meals and for a great price! The chicken was tasty and their purple potato salad was my favorite! My dad also really enjoyed the pork belly adobo. Their desserts look amazing but unfortunately I didn't get to try any this time.
