Super cute motel! It had nice, clean rooms and was quiet. We had a room that had a balcony on it which was so nice to sit on and enjoy the view in the evening! We went to the little steakhouse for supper which was super good! The breakfast had a decent variety as well. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area again!

Rooms are clean and convenient, recently updated. Everybody is friendly. Very convenient to Capitol Reef. Nice to grab free breakfast on the way out in the morning. Kids especially loved the pool, playgrounds, wagons and fire pits! We had about 30 people here for a family reunion so all the amenities were extra helpful. Nice conference room that we were able to use for family get together as well!

Google
I had an excellent stay at the Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a cozy and relaxing atmosphere after a day of exploring. The service was outstanding—staff members were friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure my stay was enjoyable. The location is perfect, offering easy access to nearby attractions and beautiful scenery. Whether you're here for a vacation or a quick trip, I highly recommend this place for its comfort, hospitality, and convenience. I stayed here with family, and it made our trip even more memorable.

We stayed in a covered wagon which was a unique experience! It was very roomy and bed was comfortable. Everything was clean and well laid out. Having the pool and hot tub was perfect after a day of hiking. Restaurant onsite had very good food with reasonable prices - so nice not having to drive anywhere else. Staff was friendly and very helpful- highly recommend!

Google
Clean and comfortable rooms with microwave and mini fridge. Breakfast was way better than the continental you get from the chain hotels. They even let us in to eat forty minutes early when they saw us heading out early. We didn’t try the steakhouse for dinner but it sure did smell tasty. Our only complaint is that the exterior lighting leaked in above the curtain and shades making it a little bit brighter than we are used to. Super close to capitol reef. Would stay again for sure.

Very spacious room. Beautiful view of the mountains. Complimentary breakfast as well as the (paid-for) dinner were very good. Restaurant had a 40 minute wait when we went but we could conveniently go back to the room and return closer to time without worry because the host said she would call us if we weren’t there at time.

Google
The wagons were wonderful! My family really enjoyed the refreshing swimming pool after the heat of the day at Capitol Reef. Our dinner was fabulous at the restaurant. The steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The best dinner we had on our 10 day journey through Zion/Bryce/Capitol Reef. Service was attentive and friendly and the breakfast buffet was way more than we expected with sausage links, fluffy pancakes, eggs, and bacon! We left fully rested and satisfied thanks to the Broken spur and their staff!

Google
The rooms were updated and clean, very cute. Water pressure was great. Room has a nice sized mini fridge. The exterior is aged, but maintained well. The outdoor lighting was very bright and shined into the room all night despite blinds being closed well. Breakfast left alot to be desired.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted a steak and this was the closest to our hotel. I fact it is located at the broken spur inn. Had the potato skins for an appetizer. I have had them all over the country and I have to say these were the smallest I have ever had. Looked like they cut off the end of a potato and put cheese on them. They looked like stuffed mushrooms. I ordered the ribeye l, and the wife the sirloin. They cooked the perfect. They were a bit tough for an expensive steak. The taste was just average or below. In the plus side the service was excellent and the food came quickly. All in all it is not terrible but when you pay high prices you expect a little better quality.

Yelp
Great place for dinner! Enjoyed every meal I had. Quaint interior, lots of parking and very friendly staff. Would recommend and would go back if in the area. Place is clean. Tables are a good size.

Beth M.

Yelp
Excellent! I had the sirloin with a balsamic reduction sauce and my husband had the country fried steak. Both were very sizeable portions! The prices were very good. The beer selection was good. The views were good. Our server, Haileigh, was excellent, very attentive without being overbearing. She also had suggestions which were really good.! I would definitely come back!

Andy B.

Yelp
The food was excellent, service was outstanding. Had a great steak for a great price!!! I would highly recommend stopping by this haunt!!!

Yelp
We did not eat here. Waiting to check in at the hostess booth, several gals came to the booth and didn't say a peep. No- someone will be right with you, thanks for your patience...nothing. When the hostess finally came up and took our name, she told us there was a 45 minute wait. We waited for a bit and decided there was nothing welcoming about the place. We left and went to the Steakhouse down the road and were seated right away by a friendly and hospital gal. Broken Spur was recommended by staff at Capitol Reef Resort. You missed the mark on this one.

Jenna M.

Yelp
Although the potato skins were a little bit on the smaller side, everything was delicious. Steaks were both cooked to perfection. Service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating to my food allergy (shrimp).

Sarah H.

Yelp
The Broken Spurr is one of the few restaurants in the area. The food was okay, which it was better but was a good choice for one of our last nights there. We went on a very busy night so the wait was about 45 mins. With being a small town, going out to eat can be tricky. The burger was good, but nothing special. The pasta was also good with the shrimp added. Alcohol is not served here.

Steve M.

Yelp
We were so happy that the Broken spur was able to accommodate us even though it was almost closing time. Thank you! I had the country fried steak. The gravy was great the steak was ok. They were out of mashed but that's understandable considering how late we were. My wife had the salmon it was ok as well. My daughter had potato skinks and vegetables and she loved them! Service was amazing. Again, they did a great job when they could have been upset about our late timing. Service was 5stars! We would visit again!

Rachel T.

Yelp
Really fantastic meat! This is a humble location with surprisingly good food. The wings were amazing - crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My friend's lamb was excellent, my ribeye was cooked to perfection and the cheese cake was bomb. Had zero expectations going in and was so satisfied coming out. coming back next time for the meat!

Ernest D.

Yelp
We recently stayed and ate at the Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse. The hotel offers traditional rooms, with comfortable beds, furnishings and typical amenities (TV, Refrigerator and Microwave), as well as "stage coach" wagons. The hotel rooms offer great views of the surrounding mountains; especially those on the second floor. The hotel has a nice indoor pool and jacuzzi, as well as guest laundry facilities. Breakfast is included and consists of eggs, home made pancakes, sausages, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. The steakhouse was a real treat! They serve a variety of items, but the stars are the locally-sourced beef steaks and prime rib (Thur/Fri/Sat). They age their beef 21 days and you can tell! Our ribeye and prime rib were cooked to our liking (true medium rare) and were some of the most tender pieces of beef we've had; rivaling beef served at much more expensive restaurants. Our meals came with fresh baked biscuits and two sides. The portions are large and you have the option of sharing an entree for an add'l $8 (you get a separate plate with two veggies of your choice and biscuits). They have a nice selection of specialty cocktails, wine by the bottle or glass and beer, including several local craft beers. They also offer home made desserts. If you plan on staying in Torrey, UT, or will just be passing through the Broken Sour Inn & Steakhouse is worth a visit or stay. Safe travels!

Tyson S.

Yelp
Prime Rib was $36. It was too big and I should have shared it with another person. Came with fresh biscuits. Nice variety of tea selections available. Service was great. Restaurant staff, hostess, and our waitress Aerianne were attractive. Hotel room was cute. Check in desk gal was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Ron W.

Yelp
We came on a busy Saturday night and were greeted and told about a 10 minute wait. Our server was very polite and answered all our menu questions. I ordered the ribeye which was a bit fatty but was cooked to perfection and very tender. My wife ordered a salad with steak medallions which were tender also for a sirloin. I asked the server about the meat which is sourced by a local farmer then butchered on site and dry aged for 21 days which explains why it was so delicious. The place itself was really neat which true western feel and ambiance about it. I highly recommend if in the area visiting Capital Reef NP. I wish I had taken pictures sorry but trust me it was very good.

Trevor S.

Yelp
I got the rib eye. Medium well it was perfect. Get there early on the weekends. It was busy and delicious. The staff were great. It was clean and we didn't have to wait long for the food. Well done you guys!

Catherine S.

Yelp
This is an unpretentious restaurant with excellent service and an extensive meat menu. I couldn't eat my very over salted dish but the restaurant was very nice about it and comped us, plus anyway my husband's sirloin served two. Fun little gift shop nearby.

Cheryl R.

Yelp
Excellent burger! One of the best I've had. Service excellent. Hot fresh biscuits also delicious. Can't go wrong here!

Jeff K.

Yelp
We stayed at the Inn in a covered wagon! Very cool and thankful for the modern private bath that accompanied it! It was an excellent glamping site and many friends are ready to try it themselves! Low on options for dinner, we tried out the restaurant. Fantastic service, large portions, and reasonable prices! If I were to go back, I personally would stick with a steak, but the other food that we had was still pretty good.

Elise N.

Yelp
Quickly seated. Ahi tuna salad was excellent. I liked the daikon on it. Sirloin steak was cooked nice and pink as asked and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes is also nicely seasoned. I also like the mixed vegetables. They didn't look like they were steamed in a bag or mushy like at some restaurants. Daughter did like the fries with her meal but husband and I did - they're steak fries so healthier. She did eat her chicken tenders. She got 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Husband and I shared a mixed berry cobbler. I should have gotten my own because it was so good but not big enough for sharing. The decor is really cute too. I like how they use bandannas for cloth napkins. Stayed at the motel as well. Pool is indoors. There's a little playground. Queen size beds. Fridge and microwave. Tub and shower. Little coffee maker. Table and chairs in the room. Cute decor all around. The wagons look so neat to stay in someday. Internet is a bit slow so be careful if you need internet.

Yelp
Cleanliness: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Overall: A decent place to stay. The extended review... Cleanliness: 4/5 - The room was clean and comfy. I think the condition was slightly worn down especially in the bathroom but it was good for an overnight. Service: 3.5/5 - Generally friendly staff by both the hotel and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was decent. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - Definitely themed like the name of the hotel. One thing that I didn't see were the wagon rooms which look pretty cool online.

Heather C.

Yelp
Service was great and food tasted excellent. The desserts were homemade and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant that's connected to an interesting wagon hotel.

Mark W.

Yelp
Hours are wrong. Closes at 9. Just got turned away at 9:30 and no one seemed concerned that the info online was wrong.

Yelp
We Booked a stay in a wagon. It appeared to be a unique and fun experience. When arrived at the Inn we found that the wagon was tiny with room for beds but the toilet/ shower was in a separate building . When booking it states " private facilities" but nothing about it being outside the accommodation. It also had an odor. We met a visitor checking out of the Inn who stayed in a wagon the night before and he was unhappy, said it was cold and the heater did not work. We asked if we can stay in a room instead and we're shown a hotel room. The room smelled strongly like cleaning supplies. We decided to cancel and look for other accommodation, there are plenty of cabins nearby for a third of the price. We were not granted the request. The property manager said it does not comply with their cancellation policy of 72 hours. We tried to explain that it was not our intention to cancel but the wagon accommodation was misrepresented and their hotel room not only had an odor but did not accommodate 4 adults and a child since they do not offer a cot. Finally they agreed to give us 2 rooms in another building. The rooms are nice and the location is fantastic . Our room was above the kitchen so it was kind of noisy. There is construction going on, looks like they are updating. The carpet outside the rooms is ripped out and some screws and nails visible and can hurt someone. I will post photos. The breakfast was ok. The location is the best this about the property. It's just outside Capital Reef National park. I think once the construction is completed it would be acceptable but the price we paid was way too much.

Francesca S.

Yelp
Wow! Didn't know what to expect in this super tiny town. We had 2 rooms booked at Broken Spur and decided to eat dinner at their steakhouse and it did not disappoint. Waitress was amazing. Amanda was friendly and timely and super accommodating while being our server. She talked to us about the area and gave recommendations for best places to star gaze. My steak was great. My entire family loves their potato mashers. Highly recommend

Hannah S.

Yelp
Great experience in Torrey! Highly recommend. Our room was extremely clean and the staff was so nice! We woke up next to the famous Gifford House pies being baked... what a glorious smell wafted past our noses walking to breakfast. Great way to start our mornings in Capitol Reef National Park!

Lawton A.

Yelp
I really hate to write negative reviews. But, after an enjoyable day of hiking at Capital Reef Park I was looking forward to a great meal of ribs, salad and beer and found this restaurant on Yelp. After a 10 mile hike somewhat deserved. FYI. Ribs only on a Saturday! We were greated, seated, served, and waited on by a friendly staff. The amount of flys in the restaurant was truly disgusting. After seat and received bread that looked good. We had at least a dozen flys swarming about. Two wait staff killed some of the flys with swatters at the tablet. We were reated. The flys were still present. I ended up having a nice side salad, which was nice with romaine and beats, water, and more flys. A very disappointing meal in a great natural wonder.

Yelp
Great stay. Awesome property. Easy access to the nearby Nation Park.

Rowe M.

Yelp
This is a review of the hotel not the restaurant:) They have nice and friendly staff here especially the lady in the evening shift. She gave me extra shampoo coz she said I have a lot of hair ! Locked out of my car so I didn't have any ID to show her and she gladly checked me in. The room was clean and bed was comfy. The main reason why I booked this place was they have an EV charger! That's it. Only if a lot of places offer it the world will be better:) Location is highly convenient to CR NP entrance. Would stay here again!

Jes S.

Yelp
After a long hike, this burger really hit the spot! We didn't have steaks, but they sure looked good. Service was quick and attentive. Cool view from inside. Small gift shop as well.

John S.

Yelp
Service was 5/5 food was 2/5. Steak was probably one of the worst I have ever had at restaurant. Vegetables tasted like they came frozen out of bag. Ambiance was pleasant.

Maria R.

Yelp
My husband and I are on a six week road trip and this has been the best hotel we've stayed in. Seriously! They have a pool, hot tub, laundry room, great restaurant with great food and a hot great hot breakfast! From our first encounter with Anautumn, check in receptionist to our waitress, Kenra and others like Julie and Colleen, who were busy making sure everyone was served with excellence, the service was great. Kenzie, hostess and desk clerk helped out wherever needed. we were treated like royalty. Aaron welcomed us first thing the following morning and he cooked the scrumptious breakfast of eggs, sausage, potatoes. They even have oatmeal snd fresh fruit. We loved the room with king, the setting, so we could lay all luggage on this long bench. We had all the amenities of shampoo, conditioner, body bar, soap and blow dryer. We had regular and decaffeinated coffee. Everything was excellent. I am planning to come back with our daughters and their families. They even have a kiddy playing area for kids to burn off their energy. Definitely a five star hotel. Thank you Broken Spur for making our stay so comfortable and giving us excellent service. We will be back.

Amy D.

Yelp
We had to wait a bit to be seated, because this is one of the few places open on a Monday night during the off-season. The menu has many diverse offerings. My husband had pistachio-crusted fish and loved it. I had their version of chicken cordon-bleu. My chicken was over-cooked and rather tasteless, but the other ingredients somewhat redeemed the meal. We had bread pudding with caramel sauce for desert. The chocolate added to the bread pudding needs to be distributed differently so that it doesn't burn while cooking and the caramel sauce needs either alcohol or salt to punch up the flavor. Our server was a treat. She was outgoing, attentive, and really made the experience enjoyable for us.

Luke S.

Yelp
I stayed here on a trip to Capitol Reef NP. You always wonder with a mom and pop motel, but this wound up as a good choice. The have a wonderful breakfast buffet every morning (included), with freshly prepared food, including a steady stream of from-scratch pancakes off the griddle. I had dinner in their restaurant one night and it was very good. I had their deluxe hambuger and my only complaint was it was too big. Very good service. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The only turn-off for me was they had a lot of signs posted around the property of the "Absolutely No ..." variety. That seems to set a negative tone for me, but that being said, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Barbara R.

Yelp
Barbara R Moreno Valley, California First, the good; ambience lovely, waitress charming and attentive. The bad; the food! There were 4 in our party, two ordered the prime rib, one ordered the ribeye and one order the sirloin steak. The prime rib had no flavor, we ordered med rare and it was so done it was tough, and it looked like it had been reheated. Instead of the pink color, it was brown and old looking. The rib eye was paper thin, tough and tasteless. The only one who thought the food was passable was the sirloin steak eater. The mashed potatoes were luke-warm. The veggies, a mixture of carrots, squash and green beans were what you would expect from steamed vegetables, but nothing to write home about. In an area as remote as Torrey, we expected high prices, but to pay $35.95 for a meal, one would expect to be able to digest the food. So disappointed. The good reviews were how we choose the Broken Spur, but it was not our experience. Since we were only passing through, we will not frequent the Broken Spur again, but perhaps others will benefit from our experience.

Mike T.

Yelp
The Broken Spur is sits on top of a hill at the edge of Torrey. It has a beautiful view of the valley and has an Inn attached. Their entranceway was very nice, ranch style decor with lots of seating while you wait. The restaurant was very busy and unfortunately this impacted on the speed of the service which was very slow. When service came it was friendly. The menu was typical for a steakhouse and I ordered some loaded potato skins as an appetizer. Large ribeye steak with mashed potato for the main. Both were very good, although the potato skins were tiny. It was more like they used new potato's. Still good, just bite sized. My biggest gripe was the beers. The beer in the picture was how mine was delivered. Now I'm an Englishman, so not afraid to ask for a top up, but this took the piss a little. I asked the server who looked embarrassed and said this is because they are poured from a can which is much smaller than the glass. My advice, give the client the can with a smaller glass. This way there is no confusion or appearance of trying to swindle me out of my beer! Overall, a nice place. 4 stars as it relates to the competition in town.

Derek P.

Yelp
Two friends and I rode our motorcycles to Utah and stayed one night at Broken Spur. I give the Broken Spur 2 1/2 stars, and that is because the location is great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. When I checked in I found that I had been charged twice for two rooms, and they had me down for three rooms. Not a big deal, they fixed that. The Jacuzzi didn't work. The steak dinner, $35 for a rib eye, was beyond bad. Mine undercooked and tough as saddle leather. Couldn't cut it, couldn't chew it. No way it was a rib eye. They refunded that cause we couldn't eat it. The only positive that about dinner was the waitress, she was great. We left her a big tip and walked away still hungry. No hot water in the morning, and we cancelled our plan to eat breakfast there before taking off. I'm not a review writer, and I wouldn't have written this one except that they actually sent me an email requesting my opinion. Even that email was screwed up, no way to respond. So, found yelp.

Lu D.

Yelp
Western themed steakhouse/restaurant. We chose Ahi Tuna Salad as we've been on our road trip for a while. Surprised to find the salad extremely fresh and ahi excellent as well. And they have Tesla Destination charging. Nice!

Gordon C.

Yelp
This isn't the strongest 4 star review I have ever written but they are getting the 4th star strictly off the quality of their beef. It was delicious. I opt for medium well which is easy to screw up but they did a great job. My daughter and her boyfriend (seriously dude propose already) had the shrimp and filet which garnered high marks. My wife had the salmon and it fell short, being slightly overcooked. This rating has to be put into context since we recently visited Moab where she had the "best salmon of her life." That was a tough act for any restaurant to follow. The most disappointing part of the meal was the appetizers. They were listed as potato skins but it appears they made them from the potatoes that didn't make the cut for prime time. Very small and as such, overpriced. We stayed at this hotel or final night in town. Make sure to check out that review as well and visit our site at www.travelhotspots.us

Sharon C.

Yelp
Room and bathroom were updated (would be nicer to include some USBs these days). Breakfast was alright.

Linda D.

Yelp
This hotel has a whole new wing and an amazing steak house restauran! We had to change our reservation last minute and they were incredibly accommodating! So glad we stayed here and we will be back again!

Amanda M.

Yelp
The exterior of the building was being renovated. The service was excellent, the host and wait staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Would return if in Torrey area again.

Georgia W.

Yelp
They bring out fresh sour dough bread as soon as you sit down. The prime rib is on Thurs and Friday. You get a very thick generous piece. Mine was cooked exactly how I wanted it. My husband had the Chicken Cordon Blue. He said it was tasty. Be sure to try some icecream for dessert. It tasted like homemade. Very good. Our server Amanda was very sweet and attentive. Didnt have to ask for refills.

Riley K.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights while visiting Capitol Reef NP. Location is great. 12 minutes or so to the park and like 1 mile from the Main Street. Place is definitely a bit dated but felt very clean which is the most important thing to me. I ate at the steakhouse one of the nights I was there. Got the pork medallions and they were good. Everyone was friendly to me while I was there. They have a little gift shop and sell some essentials in the lobby. I am a single woman in my early twenties traveling alone and I felt very safe here. Would absolutely return.

Toni M.

Yelp
This restaurant is wonderful in the beautiful town of Torrey. The menu has lots of choices. We had lamb chops, Salmon and Ahi Tuna. They were all very good. The atmosphere is very nice with a good view of the mountains. We had a GREAT waitress named Amanda. She was so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely go back again when in Utah.

William S.

Yelp
We have been on the road for a month. This is by far the best place of all. Best food, most friendly, best accommodations and best views. Stay here hands down.

Danielle B.

Yelp
We stayed one night last summer for our trip to Capitol Reef NP, but had to leave early due to the smoke that had settled in the canyon. We promised we would return for Spring Break and so here we are! Is this motel fancy? No, BUT our room was very clean and every person who works here exudes warmth and hospitality. Our kids loved roaming the grounds and our meals at the steakhouse were delicious. (The cook *actually* knows what "medium" is for a steak!) We will gladly stay here again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful memories, Broken Spur!

Michael R.

Yelp
I had the Brisket and it was awesome, my wife had pasta to order and they made it the way she liked. My son had the burger every thing was made to order with friendly service. Would definitely go again.

Drew H.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Had prime rib. Beer was cold, local red wine was very good. Staff was very good. One issue I had was butter for baked potato was wrapped butter paddies. A step down I thought.

Jim J.

Yelp
Had dinner here on April9th. This is advertised as a steakhouse so you would assume they know how to cook a steak. Not so. Three of us ordered a medium rare steak. Our friend was served her rib eye and as soon as she cut into it noticed it was well done. Took several minutes to get the servers attention. She took the steak back and then brought my wife's steak out. It was also well done and we sent that steak back. It probably took 25- 30 minutes to get the two steaks recooked and when they were returned they were both rare. By the time my wife got her steak back she had eaten everything else and the rest of our party had finished eating. She did not even eat the steak it was so under cooked. The server was apologetic but made no attempt to comp our wine or offer any gratuity. Then when the bill came, we were charged for side salads that were substituted for mixed vegetables. A steak house that cannot properly cook a steak. I would not recommend it.

Kevin A.

Yelp
This was great! 45 minute wait but worth it. Great service and food! I had the ribs and wings special and the ribs were the best I have ever had! Everything was amazing! Cheesecake dessert was fresh, server was fun and took great care of us. 10 stars!

Paolo C.

Yelp
Had one of the best ribeye steak I've had. Lowry's steak doesn't compare! Sorry. The steak came with baked potatoes and vegetables and fresh sourdough bread with butter as a starter. I definitely enjoyed it!
