We had the pleasure of dining at Brokenwood Wines over the long weekend. The food was absolutely delicious! Myself and a few others did the wine pairings and I have to say, some of the most delicious wines I’ve ever tasted! Will be buying wine from Brokenwood shortly! Highly recommend for groups in the Hunter!

We became members of Brokenwood after a fantastic wine tasting in January with Liam, who was amazing and introduced us to some beautiful wines. This past weekend, we returned to the Hunter and, even without a booking, were warmly accommodated. To our delight, Liam was there again and remembered us—it felt like catching up with an old friend! He was incredibly attentive, asking about our wine preferences and even securing us a lunch reservation at The Wood, the restaurant inside Brokenwood. After an already incredible tasting, our lunch was the perfect next step in our experience. We sat at a beautiful table overlooking the oak barrels and enjoyed the “Feed Me” menu with paired wines. Every dish was a standout, with the gnocchi being an absolute highlight—I highly recommend it! The steak and wine pairings were also perfection. We were so grateful when Chef Sean came out to chat with us, giving us a chance to compliment him and learn more about the food. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and we are so thankful to be members of such a stunning estate!

The waitress was very kind and professional. She let us enjoying our food with no rush. The portion were generous and very tasty from the appetisers to the dessert. We could take a great experience here. The winery is so beautiful design and stylish. You can try tasting, you didn't have a reservation about that though.

Dined for lunch on a weekday last week. I am peeved that our steak was served 5-10mins after our small plates/starters which included cold raw fish. We were not done with our starters when the meat were served. Steak would obviously turn cold by the time we started eating and the table was cluttered too. We feedback to the lady staff who told us we did not indicate our preference when she asked. I do not recall any such question asked to the same effect. Restaurant was far from full capacity since it’s a rainy weekday lunch. Kitchen was open kitchen so I’m not sure why the chef also thought it’s ok to fire up my steak in a hurry. Not sure if this is a place I want to dine in when I’m just trying to enjoy myself in the vibes of Hunter Valley.

All of the staff here should be incredibly proud of the beautiful experience they create. I’ve haven’t had an experience like this in years. The food was stunning, the service was lovely and the tasting was brilliant. I walked out feeling like I got more than value for money. Congrats on such a beautiful place

Enjoyed the wine tasting experience here. $25 per pax and we had close to 10 wines tasted. The host was very friendly and engaging.

Yelp
A nice Winery but a little too big and touristy to be truly enjoyable. The wines were all very good but nothing stood out. The highlight is the food pairing with the tasting which was delicious. While we didn't regret our visit, it wasn't memorable enough to visit again

Yelp
Excellent winery that offers a lot of different price points. Although tasting was not available due to the coronavirus, the man behind the counter Alex was very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful and he guided us through to an affordable yet diverse selection of wines to take away. Love the Cricket Pitch label as well as their award winning Semilion and Shiraz. Look forward to returning when we are able to dine and take full advantage of what's on offer.

Yelp
One of my favourite wineries regardless $5 tasting fee. Their tawny is simply the best. Soft and rich, you will be addicted! Tempranillo is very nice to wipe out work thoughts. Good if you love price-value balance. I will come back even though they don't offer sittings as Scarborough. $5 fee is paid back if you purchase a bottle. It is very small cellar shop though. You might have to wait a bit if come on a busy day.

Yelp
We've been drinking Brokenwood chardonnays for many years, always disappointed that the only Brookenwood that makes it into the U.S. is their Cricket Pitch, which I don't care for. So this is our #1 wine to bring back from Australia visits and the wine we drink almost daily when in New South Wales. So a visit here is required when in the Hunter Valley. And we did come away with a case and a half of wine. But... The snotty little bitch perched and immovable behind the cash register should give up any plans for a career in retailing. Maybe any plans for any career. Find a rich husband and leech off him, or maybe Daddy owns the winery. No, that's not likely - she wouldn't be working in the tasting room if he did. The older lady, who took care of our tasting, was fine. But when she told me about a "special" on cases of their chardonnay, I did a quick calculation and told her I'd bought it cheaper at a bottle shop in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. She said she'd match that price. Then snotty bitch started typing on her computer and advised me that I was wrong, I didn't get it at that price and couldn't have it now at that price. I named the shop and when I'd bought the wine, off an end cap display twice a week apart. She several times over told me I was a liar and it couldn't be. I almost left empty handed I was so pissed, but we wanted a few other wines that are only available at the cellar door. Snotty bitch finally acknowledged that the price I got was the price that retailer paid for the wine, so maybe I did get it at that price. By then I was avoiding any conversation with her and focusing on the lady helping us. I'll be back. With the knowledge that by the next time snotty bitch will have found work matching her personality.

Yelp
Of all the cellar doors I visited in the Hunter, this was by far the least inspiring. The vibe was more RSL than boutique winery, and the staff seem dispirited and uninterested by the wines they were showing. The wines we tasted were utterly ordinary in comparison with some of the competition nearby, too. Unless you're already a fan, I'd give this a miss.

Yelp
Terribly disappointed with my last, and final tasting at Brokenwood where I have been visiting since 1986. Not a $ has been spent on their cellar door in the last 20 years. This could perhaps be overlooked if the quality of their wine made up for it. Sadly, every wine with perhaps the exception of their Semillon, was unexceptional and completely mis-priced. All of the current released reds from their Beechworth vineyard were thin, short, with few varietal characteristics. The 2013 Nebbiolo should not even have been released it is so bad. Of course, not one whiff of the Graveyard Shiraz. Either completely sold out to Asian consumers or just not available to the punters in Pokolbin. Finally.....let's please get rid of the glammy, fast talking, young women behind the cellar door counters who have not a clue( beyond the colour...) of what they are pouring or what the wine should taste like. Brokenwood was full of them.....my heavily made up fast talking Russian girl was better suited behind a David Jones cosmetic counter.
