Google
Such a cute breakfast spot - the kofta and grilled chicken is fresh and the juices are swell! We had really good service here. Would come back again in a heartbeat! Food just took 5 minutes and was tasty.

Google
Great place for having breakfast! Food was tasty and the portion of omelette was pretty enough for me. By the way, the place is not pricey, so it is a good choice if you have a tight budget;)

Google
Broodje Bert is a great little spot in Amsterdam! The sandwiches are fresh and delicious, and the staff is super friendly. It’s also in a really nice area, perfect for grabbing a bite and then enjoying a walk around the neighborhood. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the city!

Google
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, great food and coffee. Generous sandwich with a nice dressed side salad. I've been served within 10 minutes. Runned by a hard working family. Pic says it all.

Google
it was sooo much but really yum and the price is really good. I think they could do a better job with presenting the plate, for me I Had to quite dig around and there was like a mess on the plate with vegetables, eggs etc. But its worth the hype and really beautiful

Google
Wonderful breakfast of eggs and bacon with all the trimmings, plus good coffee and fresh orange juice. At a canal-side table. Just what I was looking for this Saturday morning.

Hunger Games out here just to get a table. Waited 20 minutes for tourists to swipe the table we were waiting for. Put in an order thinking that was what you were supposed to do because no one was helping. The wait staff were understandably busy, but there was no order to anything. Finally someone helped us and was cleaning off a table for us when another waitress said, "No, you paid for takeout—you have to leave." 🙄 Seriously. I would've tipped generously. We were hot, exhausted, and hungry and just wanted to sit down. Should have given up and gone to any other restaurant down the street or the one next door. Finally found a lonesome bench to eat on in the hot sun, and the sandwiches weren't even edible. Not worth the 60 euros. Waste of time and money.

Google
Our only regret about this place is that we found it on our last day. Best breakfast we had. Also very good price.

Yelp
The only reason we went here for breakfast was because of yelp reviews. Amazing. Only 4 seats inside, but plenty of seating outside. Sidewalk and canal seating. May be the best breakfast I have ever had. Friendly staff. Omelette and cappuccino were spot on. Large portion meals for sure.

Yelp
This restaurant is really a little gem by the river; food is delicious, price is reasonable and server is very friendly n nice. i would definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
Server was a little overwhelmed and it took a while to get served, but the food was great and an incredible value. My sandwich was enough for 2 to share (but I ate it all!)

Yelp
Perfect breakfast spot. Fresh orange juice. Suisse omelette. Coffee. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
This place is really great! The concierge at my hotel recommended this place when I asked for a good non-touristy place to get a real Dutch lunch. When I went it was raining. I asked what the wait was for inside the restaurant and the lady said 30 minutes, so I sat on the terrace under the big table umbrella. Within 10 minutes, when a party from inside left, the lady invited me to move inside - after I already ordered - which I really appreciated (I did move). I ordered a tomato mozzarella pesto broodje and a hot chocolate. The broodje was glorious - it was fresh bread with melted cheese, crispy at the edges, and topped with tomato, onions, sweet pepper, pesto, and spices. It came with a side salad topped with an olive oil dressing with a kick. The hot chocolate came really hot, so be careful. It tastes like a hot chocomel, but the hot chocolate snob in me still liked it because it is a bit thicker than milk, and quite flavorful - what I like in a hot chocolate. When I still felt it was too hot to drink after 10 minutes, I asked if they had cold milk or ice they could put in to cool it down, but instead they put cold chocomel, so the flavor was not diluted! This is a small place that feels like a busy bakery but both the food and the service are excellent! If you're ever in Amsterdam, this place is worth a visit.

Yelp
I enjoyed my Broodje from here! This was a short walk from my hotel so I grabbed a mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich along with a freshly squeezed OJ and a cappuccino to wash it all down. The sandwich was big and filling. They also added red bell pepper in addition to the tomatoes in my sandwich. The freshly squeeze OJ was so delicious. I drank it very quickly. Very nice employee who was taking our orders and brought us our food. Good place to try a broodje or any of their breakfast items.

Yelp
When touring Amsterdam, it's not difficult to find a great spot to eat. This sandwich shop did not disappoint. Nice menu, excellent quality. Get there and enjoy!

Yelp
Wow this place was really great. I had been missing fresh salad and veggies after overdoing it on friet with mayo, stroopwafel, and bitterballen! I had the salami, onion, tomato, cheese sandwich. It was perfectly toasted with a nice salad. Nice canal view. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Dirk J.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and value! Highly recommended They have great canal side seats I had the open faced tuna melt which I couldn't finish due to the generous portions - small line to be seated but it moves fast

Catherine J.

Yelp
Very friendly and fast service. The quality of the bread is very good quality and the price is excellent. They have a wide variety of choices all made on the spot.

Robin D.

Yelp
This place is a must!! Take the time and eat here you will not regret it!! Bread is the best I have had!!
google avatar

Kristin H.

Yelp
I generally won't eat anywhere with less than 4 stars, and this place didn't disappoint. My tuna melt was very good, and I love that they serve a fresh salad with it. Also, I need to find out what this dressing is that they use for house salads in The Netherlands, because I love it! This is a great place to have breakfast or lunch - you can take it to go or sit outside on the canal like I did.

Darrell D.

Yelp
Limited menu but large portions and great value for your money. Staff was friendly . Biggest draw back is nearly all seating is outside with limited tables but those near the canal were nice.

Silas K.

Yelp
Very nice staf and good pricing. I recommend the omelet it was very good. The guy was nice. And good vibes outside overlooking the canal.

Yelp
..always the BEST, FRESHEST food in Amsterdam..after 10 plus years we never tire of eating at this legendary restaurant..never better, anywhere, with the smiling family serving..a MUST when in Amsterdam..

Yelp
I absolutely love Brooje Bert! We enjoyed everything about this place so much, that we nearly ate here everyday we were in Amsterdam. Brooje Bert is a small mom and pop family run business that serves up freshly made food prepared with only the freshest ingredients. The menu has a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and more but I highly highly recommend the grilled chicken plate and the roast beef sandwich with old Amsterdam cheese. The grilled chicken plate comes with tender juicy chicken breast, a salad, and some bread. I recommend getting a side of fries as well because they were fried perfectly every time. Located right on the corner near the canal, I recommend either sitting next to the canal or just inside the small restaurant facing the street...makes for great people watching. We literally ate here like 4 or 5 times during our stay and it did not disappoint. The only negative is that the inside is super small (maybe 6-7 seats). Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Heard about this place from a friend so decided to pop in for a very late brunch. It is a very small space but we were seated right away due to two empty seats by the window. I got the egg omelette and my cousin got the mozzarella pesto "warm out the oven" which was really good. This is a great stop if you're visiting Amsterdam and you want a brunch vibe. FYI: They are cash only and leave a tip just because :)
google avatar

Phil N.

Yelp
This is a nice simple little spot along the canal. There is seating along canal, overlooking street and inside. The fare is simple sandwiches and eggs. Servings are huge. The ham and cheese omelette was served over broogie roll with A salad. The goat cheese and honey sandwich also came with a sandwich. Quick service and nice folks

Yelp
I've been thinking about Broodje Bert since we went; I even wanted to make a return trip (rare when traveling, as I like to try new spots), but they were closed. It is centrally located in Amsterdam and is a perfect lunch spot. It is however small, but we thankfully snagged a couple bar-style seats. The menu is full of sandwiches and the like, but they're pretty dang delicious sounding. There is also a cooler of drinks. My friend and I both went with the BLTs; thanks, Yelp. We sat beside where the food was being prepared, which was a treat. Our sandwiches came out quickly. The bacon was not your typical American bacon; it is more ham-like. It has an assortment of veggies, even a bit of corn. It was a big sandwich, which hit the spot after hours of traveling. The service was friendly. You can just pay when you're done eating; don't sit around waiting on a check. Again, thanks to Yelp for this suggestion!

Yelp
The sandwich is a great value. It was a really fair price and tasted really good. The side salad comes with the sandwich. They offer to go and sit down. The location is really nice too, close to all the shops and Dam square. The services is really nice too and tried accommodating everyone.

Yelp
This place is so cute. We sat inside in front of the window because it was freezing outside. We got to people watch while we ate. I had the goat's cheese and honey walnut sandwich and my fiancé had the fried egg with ham. Everything was so good. Great quality ingredients and tastes wonderful!
google avatar

Mia W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious sandwiches and quick service. Ordered two ham egg and cheese sandwiches and they were ready in no time even though the place was quite busy. Ate them so quickly, that I didn't snap a picture!
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
A small little sandwich place but with great hot opened faced sandwiches that are served with a lite salad. We saw this place on yelp and wanted a sandwich, so decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! Plus since it was cold and raining we wanted a hot sandwich and this place fit the bill!
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwich with egg cheese and ham on delicious bread and simple side salad. Fresh pressed OJ also very good. Love this little corner joint.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
We loved this sandwich spot for brunch! Huge portions and great options a little bit off the beaten path. We had two different egg sandwiches and liked them both. If we were to come back we might try the authentic meat and cheese sandwich. Great location by the water and nice staff.

Yelp
Wow and Wow. Didn't know I needed Broodje Bert till I tried them. Absolutely hands down one of my favorite sandwich shops ever. With their tiny menu and small space, this joint really exceeded my expectations. I ordered their Tomato Mayo and Egg sandwich. Mind blowing. For your money they really give you a large portion of this amazing sandwich. The flavor was fantastic and the presentation was enjoyable. Moving onto the Fresh Goat cheese and Honey Walnut sandwich. WOW. I've never seen a fresh soft cheese sandwich presented as this was. With a full thick slice of goat cheese topped with walnuts and drizzled in honey, I was licking my fingers while eating this up. Overall I was HIGHLY impressed by this shop and would make a point to visit them again if I were town. Highly recommended 5/5

Yelp
great sandwiches and they come with an extensive side salad too! a great price for amsterdam and a great selection of sandwiches available. cute indoor seating and plenty of canal side seating too!

Yelp
Nice spot to grab brunch along the canal. (Cash only.) It's a small space but they have some big portions. I started with a coffee that was served with a cookie, which paired with it nicely and helped subside my hunger. I ordered the suisse omelette and I was shook when it came out. The omelette was the size of the whole plate and underneath was a salad and a baguette. It's a great portion size for the price. The omelette itself was tasty, and I especially liked the cheese inside. I would have preferred a separate plate for the bread and salad so they wouldn't get soggy from the omelette but still some good food. Overall, a tasty breakfast spot. Quick service and friendly staff, large portions with great prices, right along the canal. Would recommend.
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
Broodje is along the canal and provides seats at the storefront and along the canal. There is one big umbrella shading most of the tables along the canal. I chose to sit at the storefront for consistent shade. You have the choice of ordering inside should you need to see the menu or outside. The server will come to you. She's a sweetheart. I ordered the Suisse omelette. It was delicious and super filling as it comes with a baguette and a side of salad. The baguette and salad seems consistent with all the selection though, so I eat guilt free! While I barely even had enough belly space for my omelette, everything that came out of that kitchen looked mighty fresh and tasty. I was watching.

Yelp
While it is a small cafe, the management was extremely friendly, helpful and the meal was quite good. I had the mozzarella tomato & pesto (hot) sandwich, along with a double espresso and he was kind enough to heat some milk for me to add to it. Highly recommend for a simple meal with a friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
I had no idea this place was popular - randomly stopped by because i was starving to death by 5:30PM and the smell from this place was just amazing. I had their "homemade broodje bert burger," which comes more in a salad form than an actual sandwich. But you can make it a sandwich anyway you want with the fillings they give you on the plate. First of all, the bread was still steaming. Yes, it's probably just reheated instead of freshly made, but not a lot of sandwich shops have warm bread anymore; not the oily squished in a panini machine bread, the just nice toasty hot bread. It was perfect for the bit of chilly weather today. Secondly, the chicken meatballs for the dish was amazing. It wasn't overcooked (and obviously not undercooked) so it was so juicy and tender with great flavor. I had to add a couple spins of pepper in it, but that's just me. When i was leaving, they were just closing but someone rushed in and begged for a few sandwiches. He said that he had brought his friends from Germany(?) and they had to have it - i guess that just shows how good this place is! (And i think the owners ended up obliging.) I guess the only thing i wish for is they they serve beer or wine too.. but that'd just be extra.

Yelp
Really affordable salads, omelettes, and other brunch items. It was open on Christmas Day x2 since the Dutch celebrate December 26 as well. The ingredients tastes fresh and having plenty of greens was a sweet victory. We ordered the mixed plates which feature grilled chicken and beef. It also comes with bread, a salad, and egg. I don't remember the cost but I think it was 8 euros. Food was delicious, affordable, and there's usually seating indoors and outdoors. Staff were quick and helpful.

Yelp
Great people watching. .. Tuna sandwich was good, fries good & service was good... good place to get a quick lunch

Yelp
Great, little, place right on the Singel Canal. Food is fresh and wholesome and plenty of it. The cafe is small but there are tables outside and you get take a way. You won't be disappointed, cash only. There's an ATM nearby. Do yourself a favor and drop by for breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
This was probably one of my favorite meals during my recent trip to Amsterdam. Not sure why since it was just a sandwich, but it was the best BLT sandwich ever! I really loved all of the veggies included. The price was also amazing for the amount of food you get - I believe it was around €7,50. There's a menu on the inside that has more options than what you will see on the exterior of the building. I didn't realize that until after my meal. Good outdoor seating along the canal. Great place to stop if you're in the area.
google avatar

M P.

Yelp
Delicious Swiss omelette with a lovely morning view of a quiet and serene canal. Food was quick and hit the spot.
google avatar

Robin U.

Yelp
Great service and fantastic sandwiches! Make sure to have cash before you dine here. There is indoor and outdoor dining available. When we went both were pretty full. The outdoor dining does offer a waiter, so no need to order inside. The outdoor dining looks out over the water too! I had the ham and cheese sandwich, which I devoured as soon as it arrived. My husband had the fresh squeezed orange juice with his meal, which they make when you order it - doesn't get any fresher than that! I would say this is a 'must try' when you're in Amstersam.
google avatar

Jaye E.

Yelp
I had my favorite brunch here during my trip to Amsterdam. I ordered the very tasty suisse omelette, which included gruyere cheese, mushrooms, and ham. It came with nice bread and a salad. It kept me going for most of the day, which was helpful since I didn't have a chance to eat lunch. I was fortunate to get a seat outside on a glorious morning. (There were, I think, only three tables outside.) It was close to where I was staying, so I didn't need to go far, but I'd say it would be worth the walk along the canal.
google avatar

Roberto L.

Yelp
Broodje Bert saved me a nice grip of euros when I visited Amsterdam. The plates were always stacked and provided the sustenance needed to traverse this gorgeous city. The bacon and fried egg plate came with an ample amount of bread and salad. The salami and cheese sandwich was equally satisfying. Because of the hearty servings, there were quite a few times where this would be my only meal of the day. I know tipping isn't customary in the Netherlands but feeling so grateful for the food and service, I couldn't help but leave some dough to show appreciation. The most pleasant aspect of eating here was sitting outdoors along the canal and taking in the summer atmosphere. If you're ever in Amsterdam, especially during the warmer months, make it a point to start your day off with a meal at Broodje Bert.
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
They have really big portion sizes and salad comes with both the sandwiches and the egg platters. They have a large variety of options and the salad is large and quite healthy and tasty. I got the egg ham and cheese and it came with 3 really big eggs on plentiful bread topped with a lot of cheese. Everyone in our group of six felt very satisfied with the meal we had. The service was also great. Very nice and friendly muslim lady served us quickly and explained our questions knowing we were American tourists.

Matthew U.

Yelp
Awesome! Great food and great atmosphere. Prompt and friendly service. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
I read the reviews and saw the photos of the food for this restaurant and so we went about 1.5 (round trip) miles out of our way to track it down. But the walk was very nice to stroll along the canal and to venture into some charming neighborhoods and see some of the red light district along the way. The establishment was much smaller than I expected. It's teeny! But don't be taken back. It's all about the food! My wife had the warm Brie and tomato sandwich, which was as good as you could imagine. So much melted Brie on a fresh baguette. I had the Swiss. Omelette with gruyerre cheese and mushrooms and onions and ham. And the simple salad that comes with each dish was so fresh and delicious. And it all came out within five minutes! A phenomenal breakfast!
google avatar

Walid H.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had in Amsterdam! Perfect for brunch/lunch, the food is amazing, portions are huge, it's very close to central station. And to top it off it's really cheap! For 6 euros you get a large toasted sandwich (I got salami, onions, tomato, cheese) and a well-dressed salad with a healthy mix of vegetables. They have a wide variety of these sandwiches as well as various egg/omelette dishes that we didn't fry but looked great. The place was really busy but the staff were really friendly and delivered the food way quicker than expected. Note that there's limited seating but there are a few tables/chairs outside directly in front of the canal which is nice when it's warm out. Also remember to have cash on hand :)
google avatar

Joselito L.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. We came here for breakfast early Sunday morning when hardly anyone was walking the streets. We both ordered the Suisse Omelette and cafe lattes. Delicious! The eggs had bacon and gruyere, and the omelette rested on a surprising large amount of delicious vegetables, including lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, onions, red peppers, corn and cucumbers. There was a side of ketchup and mayonnaise with onions (which I didn't know what it was, so I had to ask). Plus they give you a big piece of French bread and I also asked for some butter and jam. It's a lot of food so you probably won't need to eat for quite a few hours. What a fantastic way to start a Sunday, and right before going to church right down the street. And if you can snag it, sit at one of the outside tables for a view of the canals and people watching. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Aliya B.

Yelp
Broodjie Bert is such a cozy spot with really delicious food! I had the chance to eat here a few years back during a vacation and really enjoyed my meal, as did my fellow travelers! Excellent service too.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
This is the absolute perfect brunch cafe in Amsterdam! CASH ONLY They don't have seating inside but you can order take away if it's packed. Otherwise you have to wait until a table opens up. My friends and I were able to snag 2 tables right next to the canal which made for a PERFECT atmosphere. I ordered the young cheese broodje, which is just a bread roll with cheese... but really really good cheese! I also ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice which was very tasty but not cold. For my main meal I got the Goat Cheese and Walnut toast and O!M!G! You get two huge hunks of goat cheese, like 1 hunk it as much as I would serve at a wine and cheese night with friends. It was warm and sweet and SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!! I actually could only finish half of it by myself and was able to take the other half to-go for a friend. The prices are extremely cheap for the quality that you get!! The service was super fast and great because it's a small area so you can easily flag someone down if you need them.
google avatar

Kathleen L.

Yelp
If you are in Amsterdam and looking for a delicious and fresh breakfast experience, this place is a must. While I didn't go here everyday while in Amsterdam, I did stop here two days for breakfast. Place is tiny, but people move quickly while eating. With every breakfast sandwich, they give you a beautiful, lightly dressed salad as well. Broodje Bert will not disappoint, check it out.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a very nice, quick lunch here. I ordered the hamburger salad, and my friend ordered the mozzarella, tomato and pesto. Everything arrives very quickly and tastes very fresh! The salad that comes with each sandwich is actually quite substantial and has a good variety of vegetables (mostly iceberg lettuce but not JUST iceberg lettuce!). The place is pretty small, but if you're lucky enough to snag a window counter seat, you have a nice view of the canals.
