Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, Pier 2

First of all it's still free and a fun activity for families or friends to cool down! Good potential, but a bit grumpy helpers. Awesome view to downtown but be aware that you can't leave the small area around the pier. Also they had a reservation website for the queue, which you should visit then you arrive there, but there is no functional wifi around (if you don't have mobile internet). Waiting times changes strongly, depends on how long the other guests are on the water.

Definitely recommend the place. It is completely free too because of the helpful volunteers. Had a good time today kayaking! Book online a week in advance as the spots go real quick. If you're lucky, you may get a spot if you walk in and someone cancelled. Would be going back with a friend eventually. Donate if you can!

Great people and very helpful. Summer it’s free, but you need to reserve a slot. The kayaking was very smooth. The view is amazing. Parking can be a hassle so park somewhere else or take a subway. Great experience.

It's one of the most incredible hidden gems in New York! By renting a kayak (it's free, but the people working there definitely deserve a tip), you can get a stunning view of Manhattan from Brooklyn. 100% recommended!

Pier 2 is an amazing and welcome respite for NYC recreation-seekers! Free kayaking in the summers, basketball and handball courts, storage lockers for rental, skating rink, soccer fields -- all topped with beautiful views of lower Manhattan.

Wow! What an experience of kayaking (free too!) right at the Manhattan skyline. Great group of people, very helpful and super friendly. Highly recommended for anyone interested in kayaking on weekends in city.
