Earlier this year when I was looking for a genuine, high quality pizza, Brooklyn Pizza II was the place for me. Since I was with a group of four, we decided to go with a whole pie. It was hot and fresh with just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings.
So, fast forward to this month, when Jessica E. and I are back in the same neighborhood and again craving some delicious New York pizza. Given the pizza deliciousness of last time, it's a no brainer to come back here, right? Well, we should have used our brains. Not hungry enough to split a pie with just one other person, I got a slice of Hawaiian (ham and pineapple). Admittedly, at first glance, it looked a little bit stale in the glass window, but I figured that all pizza gets a little off looking when it's been out of the oven for a bit and ordered it anyway. After it arrived, it was barely edible. Reheating it in the oven had sucked just about all the moisture out of the slice, so that the toppings had no flavor to them and the thick crust was like eating a hard piece of toast.
Those of you who know me know that I never throw away pizza. In fact, when others leave crusts behind, I often finish theirs. But, on this visit to Brooklyn Pizza II, history was made when I threw away 2/3rds of the dry, bland slice. I may return again, but if I do, I'll only get a whole pie to avoid the risk of stale, dried out pizza.
