Brooklyn's Deli

Decided to make a random stop off the freeway and what a wonderful sandwich shop!! We ordered The corn, beef, pastrami, and Swiss omelette and the turkey and Havarti sandwich. Both were excellent… The English muffins appeared to be homemade everything was fresh and delicious. I definitely recommend!

Nothing special, honeslty. Every time I order from here, I am disappointed. I ordered the Vassos and added cheese and hot peppers - it came out to a little over $20 (no chips or fries included!!) A little pricey for chicken that isn’t properly seasoned and has no sides. The only thing giving it full flavor is the mayo and hot peppers. I’ve had the breakfast there as well and felt underwhelmed considering it was on the expensive side. I will say that have fantastic chicken soup, but for the price of the sandwiches and breakfast, the food should definitely taste better and be more filling. I don’t think the breakfast sandwich even came with a side, like most places, which is also odd. I know the economy is rough right now but for the price, they could do more and make better tasting sandwiches.

Our first time trying the place and it was good overall. I tried the Tuna sandwich, and it was okay. The pastrami sandwich was awesome. We ordered the potato pancake and it was good. Overall, it was a chilled out place for sandwiches. The service and ambiance were good as well.

Great breakfast/brunch spot. Classic deli with all the great items on the menu. I went with the Greek omelette and pumpernickel bagel. Multiple options for both. The matzoh ball soup is fantastic and great presentation.

I went here to pick up a sandwich for a client in nearby Potomac Valley Rehab and we were very disappointed...one sandwich was over $13 and nothing fancy ( RB on rye ). Place is disorganized and unattractive and staff (a Sunday at 3pm) had too much trouble with even getting order into register. Would not recommend.

Although the Matzah ball soup was delicious, the corned beef coleslaw w/Russian dressing on pumpernickel bread was terrible. Bread not staying together. Corned beef awful. My Daughter had a similar experience at another time. Expensive sandwich too! Will not return.

This is a sandwich heaven. Love all the options in this place. Everything here is made fresh. If you are a fan of the steak and cheese, then get a steak and cheese. For sizing: adults that can eat get a full size. For kids and those who don’t eat much get a 1/2 size. Also!!! Don’t forget the French Fries!!! It’s a very high quality French Fries. It’s super delicious!!! They also use legendary ketchup:“Heinz Tomato Ketchup”. It’s pretty big fries, so two people can share it with just one order. If is your first time visiting, I will recommend you just order a 1/2 sandwich and French Fries if you are not crazy hungry. When I mean hungry: it means you can eat four chili half smoke. The restaurant is always very busy. So be patience!!! The lady who managed seating always do an amazing job and she is always very friendly. If you have questions just ask her. All the employees are very friendly and helpful too. Anyway stop reading the review. Go check this place out right now!!! Trust me, you will Love this place a lot.

It was very busy, but the service was amazing. I went there yesterday for lunch and the got the ham sandwich. It is big, but really good.

Love Brooklyn's. Guy and his team are great. You walk in and they make you feel like family. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. The sandwich portions are generous. I love the matzoh ball soup. You are in for a treat if Guy has made his Maryland crab soup. For breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong at Brooklyn's.

Another awesome corned beef sandwich from Brooklyn's. I just got home after being discharged from long term care. The sandwich was divine. They have gluten free bread.

Wow. Have been buying sandwiches from this place for years. Since they were in Travillah. Always turkey, coleslaw and Russian dressing for the most part. That same sandwich is in the 20 dollar range. Usually the turkey is in the 3 inch thick area. Tonight, we got 2 of them. If the turkey is 1 inch thick, it's a lot. I don't mind the decrease in the size of the sandwich as I can't eat all of that anyway. But adjust the price. If not, Altman's is calling my name. Literally right next door.

Got Austin's triple play cause you get both pastrami and corned beef. The best of both worlds! Course it's greasy goodness and delicious if you want a guilty pleasure.

Brooklyn's Deli is a staple in our community and a one stop shop for me. This past weekend we ordered bagels, whitefish salad, and lox spread. Boy, was it delicious! My son said it was the best whitefish salad he has ever had. A couple weeks ago we all ordered sandwiches from Brooklyn's Deli. We got corned beef sandwich, the club sandwich, and the tuna sandwiches. We also ordered fries. Everything was fresh, well made, and tasted wonderful. So, breakfast, lunch, or dinner Brooklyn's Deli has it all. I always go in and order deli meats from the counter, along with pickles, cheese, and chopped liver. The service is great and everyone treats you nicely. I don't know what I would do without Brooklyn's Deli? They have a large side of the restaurant devoted to in person seating. The service is always good. I love all of the photos displayed on the walls of the restaurant. They are of customers who come in on a regular basis. I wonder how long I have to wait to make it up on the wall? Lol. : )

Yummy food and Charles was very attentive and friendly. It had become a neighborhood fave and sort of reminds us of back home in Brooklyn.

I hesitated coming due to the average reviews but decided to give them a try. Plenty of tables and staff were very plentiful and courteous. No music but otherwise decent breakfast/lunch spot. The chicken noodle soup had that homemade taste and was good. The specialty pastrami sandwich was excellent. The prices are a bit high but we enjoyed the experience. We will be back for breakfast.

A good friend brought me here for breakfast today as a surprise. Bruce used to take his daughters here every Saturday when they were little girls. They are now in their twenties and cherish the memories and the food. The deli does not disappoint. The coffee was good and the breakfast was delicious, and the service was brilliant. I had the Boker Tov with two eggs over easy and a bagel. Perfect.

I Love Brooklyn Deli, I'm so happy that it's close to my home! My favorite meal at the deli is breakfast, it's so good! I also stop by weekly to buy either chicken or tuna salad, delicious! Sometimes I also buy bagels, they're always good. The servers and hostesses at Brooklyn's deli are all fantastic! They are friendly and efficient, I always feel so welcome at Brooklyn Deli. A special thanks to the owner Guy, deli worker Lorenzo, and Mimi, Sandy, and Fern, they're the best!

Compared to Attman's and delis in Baltimore, Florida, and New York, I can say that Brooklyn's Deli is overpriced, under staffed, and the worst corned sandwiches I have ever tasted: soggy bread, gummy meat, dirty tables, etc. The pricing is high and the the staff are surly. Nothing more to say. Stay away!

I made my very first visit to Brooklyn's Deli and stopped by for lunch. I am very happy that I did. Here's what you need to know: FOOD: Do yourself a favor. Save yourself the time and expense of traveling to NYC. Come by Brooklyn's Deli instead. I ordered an Esther's Delight specialty sandwich and asked for it on toasted rye. It was a heavenly combination of hot pastrami, cole slaw and Russian. I asked for the regular hot pastrami and it was perfect... no mustard needed. Making pastrami is both art and science. Whoever is in charge of pastrami production at Brooklyn's must have graduated from Katz's with a PhD in pastrami making! Yes, it's true... Service: We arrived a few minutes before 12:00 noon and were seated promptly. A waitress greeted us and brought glasses of water. I want to divert for a moment to say that there is a sign in the front window of Brooklyn's Deli advertising for four different positions. The restaurant business in 2023 is particularly challenging and hiring people isn't easy. Our waitress was a pro, took our orders and brought them out reasonably quickly. She also delivered our check in a timely manner. All in all, I will stop by whenever I am in the area.

I submitted a poor review after my first visit. The owner asked me to return and to tell him. Now, here's the thing. I hate that. If you know I'm a review, you're likely to change and prepare with more attention. That's not fair as a review. But if he was that confident, that he was willing to comp me a sandwich, I was willing to give it another try. I am happy to report that he was right. The pastrami was tender, properly sliced and warm. The sandwich was delicious. I was less hungry this time, so I didn't get fries, so I can't vouch for those. But I'm happy I came back. It's definitely a nostalgia deli, and I'll be back! (The service was still excellent, btw, but that wasn't a problem the first time.)

The matzo ball soup and pastrami sandwich are both excellent. The matzo ball soup is on-point traditional; no deviation. And that's what I'm looking for. The pastrami meat is perhaps the best in the DMV. I get the "half portion" pastrami sammie. I don't go with one of the specialty sammies that features hot pastrami because of the wet ingredients and cheese. I want to taste the pastrami without distraction; with just some lettuce and tomato. Customers can get their sammies however they want and trust that they'll get what they ordered. The packaging is reliable for take-out. That's all I've ever done; never dine-in. If I'm ever in Potomac, I'll stop by here to buy these two items specifically.

After I posted a 3-star review, Brooklyn's owner, Guy, wrote a nice note explaining what happened. So now I'll definitely be back, and will ask for pickles next time.

Lean pastrami sandwich on rye was good. Pickle was ehh. Turkey sandwich is good. It would be better if they would label the sandwich's in a takeout order.

Spontaneously stopped by and got their corned beef sandwich. I really enjoyed it and it was piled high. I look forward to going back

Too expensive. I ordered a basic everything bagel with lox and got a very basic bagel with lox. Which I'm fine with, but when it rang up at over $15 I wanted to walk away. I left feeling bummed about my dilemma, I was hungry, the staff had already started making my breakfast sandwich, and I didn't want to let my stomach and all those people down by walking away. It haunted me throughout the day as I kept checking my bank account and seeing a whopping $15 taken from my hard earned account just for a simple run of the mill, no flairs, no specialties, no fancy hipster takes on a breakfast sandwich which would possibly justify spending that kinda dough.. I should have walked away and not suffer through this stomach wrenching guilt I carry now.

Coming from NYC where all the greatest delis are, nostalgia brought me to Brooklyn's Deli on a cold winter weekend morning. Okie family popped in at around 11am, and due to Covid, we sat in their outdoor makeshift dining tent. The portions are huge- so that's a plus if you've got quite the appetite, but for a 5'2 105lb girl like me... I'm looking for quality. This ain't it. So the search continues. My egg omelette was fine though- it's par with any mediocre diner. Coffee is decent. The Philly cheesesteak (MD style or otherwise) were pretty well packed but lacked flavor and the bread seemed somewhat stale. I would say you get your bang for the money here but come hungry.

We get take out orders from their deli counter and the tuna salad is actually a very tasty balance of mayo and veggies. Food is pretty tasty overall. Not sure about the dine in experience since we haven't done it.

We went for breakfast Saturday morning. Pretty empty. Spotty service. Food was good. Had a very tasty Westerm omelette, well-loaded with onions peppers, ham and cheese. Standard hash browns. I'd give this place a 5/5 for the omelette alone, but we had to continually flag down the waitress, so I gave it a 4/5. Because of the quality of the food, I would go back, and try one of their sandwiches.

I ordered an Austen Triple decker, corned beef and pastrami, piled high. It was delicious. I sat down really hungry, and could only finish half. I plan to return soon. Can't believe enough people feel differently, as this is a five star deli for me.

Very disappointed. Third visit. Food is delicious. Children & grandkids eat here often. Server brought wrong sandwich and complained that I had taken a bite, instead of apologizing. Menu said sandwich was $16.99 but bill said $17.99. Server said that's what her register printed out but she would ask the manager. She returned with a message that it was an upcharge for the Cole slaw on the corned beef sandwich. It was rude of the manager not to come out, the menu has no mention of an upcharge, and in 70 years of eating this sandwich i do not remember ever being up charged for this. I won't be back.

I was curious to try this deli after trying other popular delis in the area to see how it compared. I went for breakfast one day and ordered an omelette that had corned beef, pastrami and Muenster cheese in it, an interesting combination, but I typically order most restaurants unique items. The omelette came out relatively fast and was a decent size. It was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed it and the rye toast that came with it. The establishment itself had all sorts of fun vintage photos of Brooklyn in it, including old shots of Coney Island. I can only speak for their breakfast omelets, but I had a great and tasty experience.

Great Food/Great Service! Treated a friend to lunch (12/28/19). We arrived early afternoon, busy but not packed. We were seated quickly. My friend ordered the "chicken salad sandwich" White bread w/lettuce/tomato. She was absolutely pleased w/sandwich remarking "It's huge I'll get to meal from this sandwich." I ordered "buttermilk pancakes" w/side of sausage (patties). The menu offer 1-4 pancakes. I ordered (2) pancakes. When my order arrived the pancakes covered almost the entire plate like 8 inches. The the brought a syrup, & sausage (2) patties also generous size. Wonderfully tender, delicious buttermilk flavor pancakes. Flavorful sausage too. I couldn't finish them. Great service. Our server checked in often asking if everything is ok-we gladly affirmed yes. Our server also provided my friend a to go container. See photos.

There's Brooklyn Deli and Attman's within a mile of each other. I still visit Brooklyn Deli cause I need my matzoh ball soup fix. It could be a 100 degrees outside, and I still get a bowl whenever I stop in. As you can see from my pics, I tend to go with familiar items. Soup, lox and bagel or turkey reuben. I did have the Philly chicken once. Had asked for no peppers, but it came out with no onions. Was such a hectic lunch hour that I just ate it. Not as good as I had hoped, so lesson learned. I'll just stick to those items I know and enjoy. It's a tight space, but staff seem to handle it well. I've heard them estimate the wait at 20 minutes or more before, but I've never waited more than 10 to get seated.

I think the 3 star rating for this place is spot on. We were at the Rockville Hometown celebration, during Memorial Day, and the Taste of Rockville was there. We had the most delicious pastrami sandwich at Brooklyn's Deli's booth. They cut the pastrami right in front of us and they cut it in big chunks. I think I ordered three of the sandwiches there. It was so good! Now we went to the restaurant thinking we were going to get the same delicious, thick cut, melt in your mouth sandwich. What a letdown. Their pastrami was cut so thin and didn't melt in your mouth. I mean it was good, but not what we were expecting. It's a tale of two sandwiches. If I come back I'll have to try other items besides their sandwiches. Their menu has so many other food items, that I will need to come back here to try. I wonder if I can request the pastrami to be thick cut.

Way too expensive for an egg sandwich and the prices on the board doesn't match on the register and end up paying more than anticipated. The good thing is the food taste fresh and uses real products

I thought I'd give it a try despite the mediocre 3 star rating. I got carry out but the front staff seemed nice enough. I order a Galkin (turkey) sandwich. While there was plenty of turkey meat, I still felt disappointed. First, for 14.99 the sandwich should totally delight. This didn't for a few reasons. First the while turkey meat itself was good quality it was nothing special and just a pig limp of turkey meat. The multigrain bread wasn't dry but was still too flimsy to support this size sandwich - it immediately cracked and crumbled into multiple pieces. Then there was no condiment so it felt dry and I had to add my own. In short, at $14.99 this is wildly overpriced for a pretty basic mediocre sandwich. Maybe stick to the deli specials(?)

The pastrami sandwich was very tasty however the young lady who took my order could have been a little nicer.

I'm from NY, where this is typically $2.50-5, but is usu bomb anywhere! THIS WAS $10- strike 1, ridiculous. I played it cool though, I needed a quick grab & go and figured it must be bomb between the "Brooklyn" reference, & the price; not! The poor thing was tasteless with exception of the slight burnt toast taste. Maybe I'm somewhat at fault for not asking for the bread to be buttered, LIGHTLY toasted, and eggs to be seasoned with salt and pepper. At home (or in my hometown), the bacon & cheese add enough flavor, eggs often salt and peppered without question. Idk if it's just a DMV culture difference or what, but........ I was so aggravated about this damn sandwich, I took this picture to vent to my family after I bit it! 15minutes later, hot home, buttered & seasoned the damn thing that I paid enough for a sauteed steak breakfast sandwich from a deli. #BigMad On the bright side, cashier was pleasant and quick...but I would not return. I do better at home making my own less expensive, and more tasty food. But maybe that's what people like in that area...I couldn't tell you. I was so sad and annoyed...seriously.

Being from NYC, i was in withdrawal for a pastrami on rye. A friend recommended this deli. The food was good. I am a senior citizen and i was alone. The waiter was a tall guy and could not have been more rude. Question. What do want? Answer. I will start with chicken soup. Question. Thats it? You came just for soup. Answer. If u let me finish i want a pastrami on rye Question. Drink? Answer; coke please The food was served; i never got my soda; the ONLY time this guy came back was to give me the check. I am a generous tipper but not with this sob. A horrible experience for me. I will never return. Very disappointed!

My go to place for ages. Been a customer since they had a location in Potomac Village. Love their Cohen Club which is my standard comfort fix that reminds me of my struggling days in NYC as a wannabe actor. A Jewish deli was always my comfort. Brooklyn Deli is the real deal with everything a great New York Jewish Demi should have. When I am sick I get a large order of their home made penicillin (Chicken Soup w Matzo-balls) And days like today I love my breakfast. One sad note is their once perfectly crispy and fluffy light grated hash browns (not home potatoes) have become stuck together and the technique which was perfect for years now is more mushy and less identifiable as the real deal. Also they have become a little cheap with the portion you get. Besides that one sad flaw everything is great. Today I sat outside and a very friendly and wonderful waitress named Alex took care of me and my huge Bernese Mountain Dog whom she treated to two bowls of refreshing water he needed. I love sitting outside on nice summer mornings like this when not too hot. If only I could get those perfect hash browns back like they used to be it would be perfect! GUY BRANDT!!! BRING THOSE SHREDDED HASH BROWNS back to their old GLORY!!!!!

I only eat corned beef hash and eggs here. They are excellent, not that canned stuff everyone else is offering. Coffee is decent, and I told matzo ball soup is very good as well.

I ordered online and paid for everything, when my order arrived I didn't even receive my sandwich I had ordered. I called to let them know. First time, I was hung up on. Then I was called a bitch and laughed at on the phone when they told me I never ordered my sandwich. Which, in fact, I had. I am really disappointed. I don't understand why this happened. I really just wanted to try a sandwich from here for the first time. Sucks.

Came during lunch time with a friend and ordered 1/2 portion roast beef sandwich on a baguette. Unfortunately the 'baguette' was just a hoagie and the sandwich did no come with ANY of the usual trimmings - no lettuce, no tomato, no cheese, no condiments. Nothing. It was just the piece of cold bread and slices of bland roast beef. Maybe I should have asked the server when I ordered the sandwich, but I just thought it would come with the classic trimmings. The server did not offer any either when she took my order. I was sure disappointed with the $8.99 sandwich!

Holy cows! If you haven't seen my picture from here - check that bad boy out. Though, it's a modified sandwich; we just took one of the meats and replaced it with chopped liver. If you're cat hair-balling right now. I'm sorry, I'm jewish and I love chopped liver! My totes fave is chopped liver on matzoh with a little cold horseradish. If you're adventurous, try it out. It's delicious. The meal was very good at Brooklyn Deli. I love the pickles there. The sandwich was so big I couldn't fit it in my mouth and the whitefish salad was a hearty portion and very tasty. I can tell you that this is the only whitefish salad platter in the area that comes with all the fixins' I love. Tomato Cucumber Olives Capers SWISS CHEESE ( thats the big difference) Lemon and Whitefish Salad And now you will learn how to make- what I like to call: Mike's Perfect Bagel Start out with bagel, spread the cream cheese, and sprinkle a few capers in the cream cheese. You have to sprinkle the capers at this step or they will roll all over the place like a dropped bag of skittles. So once you've embedded the capers in the cream cheese then top with whitefish salad. On top of the whitefish salad, put one slice of tomato. The whitefish salad will hold the tomato on. Then cross two triangles of swiss cheese on top and you've got - MIKE'S PERFECT BAGEL! Brooklyn Deli is serving up large sandwiches with great quality meat daily. They have an expansive menu, you'll definitely be able to find what you want. So it sounds like this place is perfect right. Why the one star knock off. I'm not a huge fan of the actual bagel. Where ever they source them from is not my favorite. I wish they would use Goldberg's Bagels. Man o man , if they did, I'd be there daily.

Wow- their pastrami is great! Tender and flavorful and piled high on the bread. Great onion rings also. Service was excellent and friendly. I'll be back!

I have been eating breakfast and lunch at BD for over 20 years and the food keeps getting better and better - All the sandwiches are fantastic / the corned beef is par excellence and lean lean lean and stacked up high! Chix Twix is the best chicken salad I have ever had and frankly...just go and enjoy. The patio is great and very dog friendly! Woof!

My first time here for lunch with a friend. Service was friendly and efficient. There's a large area to dine outside. My "specialty" sandwich was OK....a chicken breast sandwich with barely discernible avocado ( disappointed with the portion of avocado). You order a sandwich, and that's all that comes on the plate....no garnish, no pickle, nothing. I think the sides must be limited because our server only asked us if we wanted to also order fries or onion rings. I'll give it another try though. My friend loved her huge hot pastrami sandwich.

This deli is located in Potomac Wood Plaza. I decided to visit this place for lunch and see what what made this place so unique. They are quite spacious and offer indoor and outdoor seating. My first impression of the restaurant was that this place is the ideal place to bring your family for breakfast. As the name already indicates, they are known for their sandwiches. I decided to ask the waiter what she would recommend for someone who is visiting the restaurant for the first time; her answers were the Reuben and the Pastrami sandwich. I went for the pastrami sandwich and was not disappointed. The pastrami was cooked perfectly, and just tasted amazing. The service was also great, and overall I had a good experience. I will be back to try out the other speciality sandwiches.

the food is average at best. The male server was rude and arrogant. He got perturbed , because we were not ready to order when he came over. If you do go, just notice how dusty the lights, walls are. A corporate chain restaurant would fire the manager just for that.

Some tough reviews from Yelpers but I find the place fair and worth repeating. Another sign of a good restaurant is its patrons, and this place is full of locals and families. Also noticed not many reviews for their breakfast - it's definitely one of the better BF places around Potomac - good food, fair prices and ample parking.

Food was delicious. Service was slow the day we visited. There was one server for inside and outside we said something as we could see her running around. Server told us that it's usually dead at this time. Prices seemed a bit high but typical of Montgomery County.

I ordered sliced pastrami to go, though I should have samples it first. It was over cured and rubbery. This is no where close to what pastrami should be, it was the type that Subway would sell, at $19.99/lb to boot.

Honestly the matzoh ball soup is the best. It's in a shopping complex. They have a good variety of items. Good prices and you get a good portion of food. It does get very busy during lunch hours. Very cool decor with framed pictures of customers. There are TVs if you care to watch sports. I'm not sure if I would come here again. They are accommodating and fast.

Pastrami and Roast beef sandwiches were fantastic. The staff inside isn't masked...some are some not. The host outside is not masked..he throws bread to the pigeons...right next to the eating area. He tossed trash in the can and missed and just left the trash on the ground... I'll come back for the food but a pretty sloppy operation.
