We have eaten at Brookville hotel many times even when they were located at Brookville, KS. This is our first time eating here since the new ownership took over. We live 3 hours away and would either make a special trip out or try to time it when they were open when traveling. We got there when it was opening on Thursday and did not have reservations, They were able to sit us in the dining room. We sat there several minutes before anyone came to our table. Finally, a young man came with water and brought slaw in a bowl with a couple roughly cut peaches and a couple pickles on the side. We asked about cottage cheese that they have previously served but said they no longer offered that. Later the waitress came and brought our chicken and sides and never asked if we wanted more slaw as we had devoured that. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very dry, lumpy and room temperature. I actually thought maybe it was sausage gravy due to the large lumps but was not. The creamed corn was cold but the chicken was hot! We had emptied the bowls and sat there for at least 10 min before she returned and asked us if we wanted anything more?? We thought maybe the food would be warmer but was not! We asked if they had strawberry preserves like we had previously, but she said only on request. We had the "homemade ice cream"---It was maybe homemade, but very crystally and freezer burned. We could have understood poor/slow service if they were busy, but there was only one other party of 4 in the restaurant at the time. We are going to tell our family who have also made the effort to visit Brookville, if they are hungry for fried chicken, we would suggest KFC or Go Chicken Go instead of Brookville.
