"Bross Bagels, Leith. Bross Bagels original outlet in nearby seaside Portobello has become something of an institution in recent years, providing traditional ‘Montreal-style’ bagels to the masses - made with maple syrup in the dough and boiled in honey water. So Leithers did indeed rejoice when Bross came to Leith Walk in 2018. In her own words, Canadian owner Lara (AKA ‘Mama Bross’) opened her first shop because of “extreme desperation... I was tired of waiting for a visitor from Montreal to smuggle me bagels”.The results are outstanding - there’s nowhere else in the city (and probably Scotland) where you can get such authentic North American bagels with all the toppings. Try the Big Apple - hot pastrami, Monterey Jack cheese, pickles, mustard and mayo. Lara has a sideline as a stand-up comic and her viral videos promoting Bross are worth a watch."

Outstanding bagels. Couple of brilliant vegan flavours. Probably the best bagels I've ever eaten. Unfortunately, it wasn't made plain that the bagels themselves weren't vegan (the counter staff were new so not their fault) and we ate them without realising. Easy mistake, but it wasn't very clear.

This is the perfect place to get bagels!!!! Amazing selection with fresh ingredients leading to delicious bagels for anytime of the day. Everyone was very friendly and the place felt so chilled. You should try the chicken Parm!! Hands down the best in town! Also, there's a great selection of different types of bagels. The only thing that was off, the only reason for not giving 5 stars, was cleanliness. We decided to eat in and it was not the best experience. I really don't mind the hipster-diy-no table service- attitude, but when the cups you offer are rusted, it's not a matter of attitude, but one of public safety. Sorry about that, but you have to know in order to improve. I have pictures to back up my claims. Best of luck!

Deliberately waited till post lunch time and there was still a steady flow of customers. Excited to try the Montreal and just look at the layers of cream cheese and salmon, topped with huge capers.....could hardly wait to munch into it. It did not disappoint and savoured every bite. Second choice was Mama Bross, described as having the famous chicken salad and dill pickles. All I could see initially was the pickle and a little surprised when underneath it was a mound of filling rather than layers of salad. Taste wise, honestly for me, was very bland. Sorry, texture didn't work. Compliments to the staff, they totally engage with every customer making your visit very personal, which in such a fast paced environment is a great skill. Lauren, you were so chatty. Thanks Bross, lots still to choose from on next visit.

Legit salted beef in a super chill dog-friendly bagel cafe. Though they were sold out of the recommended bagel for the Reuben, I have to confess that the cheddar chipotle bagel was a bit crumbly (rather than chewy) and fell apart with the juicy fillings. Perhaps another bagel option has some more chew, but I’d go back in a heartbeat.

A relatively small, yet quirky shop. The service was very fast, in and out. Staff were all very friendly, and the bagel was delicious! Only thing that I pointed out that could be improved is how messy and all over the place all the stock was left and to be seen by customers and also that no one tented to use gloves while handling food, just didn't really inspire cleanliness.

BEST BAGELS IN EDINBURGH! This place is really cool! It got a great aesthetic and design to the place. I think the only issue is how small the place is. Its pretty much always busy so it's always packed in the store. I got the Chicken Parm with the everything Bagel which I think is the best to get. The chicken is tasty and has a good crisp. The marinara sauce is also awesome. The salt Beef was pretty good as well!

Best ever bagels! Better than what I had in Chicago. Fresh and filling. It is the best family friendly place ever. Though you can take your bagel and eat on the go but if you sit in you actually taste everything. They have thought of everything for the customers comfort. Neat and tidy water place old western style seating. Clean toilets and the baby changing area is tiny but adequate and the hygiene stuff!! Brilliant. They have crossed the bar for Bagels and thoughtful customer care.

Friendly helpful staff and an excellent selection of bagels and fillings. Tried the Big Apple with pastrami, mustard, pickle and cheese and was very pleased. It's popular, and there can be a queue, but it's worth waiting. On street seating, a couple of seats by the counter, more upstairs, or takeaway.
