"Hotel BrosundetThis city hotel—a reimagining of an Ålesund harborside fishing warehouse by Norwegian starchitects Snøhetta, complete with a roaring five-story lobby fireplace—is almost too cool for its Art Nouveau surroundings."

Great hotel in a perfect spot. Staff was friendly and helpful. But the hidden gem is the restaurant. The menu is not large, but the dishes were excellent and very well prepared with lots of attention to plating. I would have been very to have this in New York! Wine list is also solid.

I loved the atmosphere, warmth, comfort and delicious breakfast here, the view of the water, houses and mountains plus the spacious lobby with a huge fireplace. And all this in a beautiful historical building in the heart of Ålesund. Highly recommended!

A fantastic hotel with a lovely ambience in a beautiful location on the fjord. It has a sauna, with a platform outside from which you can cool down by diving into the ice-cold fjord. The lounge area is situated around a real fire, which although small, seems to warm up the entire room, which stretches up to the top storey of the hotel. The aroma of the fire pervades the entire public area of the hotel. A nice restaurant, where we had a great plate of fish and chips. In the evening there is no piped music in the bar – just the crackling of the fire.

This hotel was simply amazing. The staff was wonderful, it was very clean, walking distance to so much. We had a dormer room, and the view was beautiful day & night. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Every part of this hotel was beautiful. A very relaxing place to stay. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. If I get the chance to visit Alesund again, I would stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay. The environment is elegant but unpretentious, natural, and comfortable. I felt at home as soon as I walked in. It’s centrally located between the old fishing village and the newer Art Nouveau district. The hotel also runs a bakery, a fine dining restaurant, and offers casual dining with no reservations required.

This hotel is really solid, and for sure one of the best in Ålesund. The breakfast is very good. The Scandinavian modern design is cozy and luxurious, and overall, it’s a great place to stay. I’d say it’s way more of a nightly stay, than a luxurious experience. But the location is good, and all in all it’s a solid value. Ask for a room in the main building.

I have stayed at Brosundet several times now during a busy period at work in Ålesund. It has been a pleasure to come 'home' after long days. Great atmosphere, elegant interior, good food, fantastic breakfast, excellent workout opportunities. And the bathtubs on the outdoor area are simply amazing. One evening, I sat in one of them with a wool hat, in the rain, looking out over the canal towards the Fjellstuen on the topp of the hill... absolutely perfect. And the best part was that it had to be without a book or phone because it was raining... it's been a long time since that happened

Very charming hotel. Fantastic use of two old buildings. Highly recommend. The not-flat floors in our room merely added to the experience. Only downside: Very small bathroom. Gymnastics or door-Tetris required to enter the shower.
