Not as good a beach/sand as the southern side, however better protected from inbound tanker waves, southern winds, and the northeast side has some protection from outbound waves. Need a good anchor! Watch out for channel ship wake and washed up stuff on the beach. Good place to escape the city.

Cool place to hang out but watch out for the ship wakes. The wakes beached our boat but luckily we were able to get it out. Very dangerous as they come out of nowhere. The wakes almost swept away everything we had and luckily our kids were far enough in land to where they didn't get swept away.

Watch out for swells, I almost lost my kayak. Would have been plenty strong to sweep away a kid. Wear something better than flip-flops.
