BROWN Coffee | Mao Tse Toung

Absolutely amazing stumble-upon for people who appreciate architecture! We walked into this Brown Coffee, which appeared to be a really unique building and not a conventional one... To find out its the home of a famous Cambodian architect, Vann Molyvann, who passed in 2017. There is an exhibit to honour his projects and work and life on the 2nd floor open on weekends, free and worth checking out! Beautiful space... And of course great vibes and coffee!

I attended an architecture tour on a Sunday in Phnom Penh, we started at the Institute of Foreign Languages, and finished at this Brown Coffee shop. The building itself was formerly the architectural studio of Khmer architect Vann Molyvann, and they converted the ground floor into a coffee shop, but upstairs it is mostly preserved and remains intact as the former studio. They have pictures and drawings to showcase Molyvann’s works, and a model of the structure of this building. It’s a very clever design with two squares stacked on top of each other, the top one being smaller than the ground floor square. This composition creates four different balconies extending from the first floor, each providing a separate space and different views of the city. I like the texture of the interior, the clever design and the warm colors.

As a coffee enthusiast, I must admit that I am addicted with Brown Coffee and Bakery. When I visit this place, it feels like I'm stepping into an art exhibit. The building is truly one-of-a-kind, having once been the residence of our renowned Cambodian architect, Vann Molyvann. The space is stunning, both inside and out. The atmosphere is fantastic, providing a great vibe. Highly recommended!

Good coffee with good taste. Good location with good parking space. Not so crowded in the mornings of week days so my order was fast. 🙂 My hot latte is just smelling good good as always. 🥰 It is still a bit pricey for me, though. 😅

Really beautiful building with a gallery dedicated to its architect Vann Molyvann on the first floor. The second floor has also some interest with regard to its spaces and the way it overlooks the back garden. The coffee shop on the ground floor is also a beautiful space but there is no too much seating. You can enjoy a good cup of Brown beans coffee by the floor window looking at the peaceful garden. Not my favourite Brown coffee shop but definitely in my top 5.

Coffee good as Brown be. The environment of Café are amazing many sitting space as well the Architects design of the building was amazing.
