Definitely a bizarre experience. First of all, I had trouble getting in, as the lady refused to open the gate. She wasn’t particularly friendly and, on multiple occasions, gave me the feeling that I wasn’t welcome and denied simple requests. The worst part, though, was the Wi-Fi (500 KB/s), which is barely enough even to send text messages. I was planning to stay multiple nights but ended up leaving after one.

Nice backpacker hostel, very safe. It has clean and spacious rooms and the food there is delicious! The staff and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. The hostel also has a pool and some nice areas to chill out. Definitely can recommend this place in Joburg(:

As usual a warm welcome to this hostel. A roomy chalet with a towel, heater and a comfy bed.|Staff very helpful with organising UBER transport to the airport. The breakfast was ample as was the evening meal. Well worth staying at. Good value for money.

The hostel itself had good rooms and free breakfast and wifi. The staff was usually quite friendly, although not too interested in what we could do in Joburg. The kitchen for self-caterers was well equipped. Two negative things however were: The location is not really close to anything, you have to Uber/taxi everywhere. Also, there were not friendly about storing luggage at the hostel for the day and staying a couple of hours on the premises (our flight left in the evening).

I had a fabulous time staying here - the property is pretty large with a good selection of room types - I was in the glass room and it was stunning to wake up to the light pouring in and seeing planes fly over head.||There is a bar and outdoor terrace area where you can buy lunch. You can also pretty arrange dinner. I am vegetarian and was also well catered for.||The property is 15mins to the city centre and an Uber was about 60rand. This area felt very safe and more relaxed to stay in than the city center. The staff here are so incredibly friendly too!!||The free airport collection is a huge bonus plus free breakfast and wifi.||Would 100% stay again and highly recommend to all backpackers.

We only ended up staying one night here due to transport timetables. However, we enjoyed our stay and will stay here for sure next time we are in Johannesburg. It is clean and comfortable and our double room had an ensuite in it. The staff were friendly and helpful to us and were also able to provide us with a lift to the airport for a reasonable price. ||The backpackers has a lot of character and a relaxed feel about it. They served food and there was also a bar. They seem to offer a lot of tours and also ideas for activities you can do as well as shuttles to places in the area.||I have always stayed elsewhere when in Johannesburg but I found this better and would pick it again in the future to stay at and also to organise tours through.

Book your stay ELSEWHERE. Rude female staff, she laughed when I asked for help with my luggage. I had just CLIMBED the hill up the steep driveway with my luggage. The male staff member I interacted with was helpful. The rooms and linens smell moldy. The sheets and pillows are discolored and stained. The bathroom has mold on the shower head, curtain etc., see photos. Staff ignored us and gave no instructions for exit and re-entry
