Visited with a booking and had already ordered and been served hot drinks. While one waitress seemed a little concerned about timing awkwardly looking at her watch in front of us when we said we we’ll wait for the rest of the party to arrive before we order the mains. A bit rude and unnecessary especially since it has only been a minute past our booking time. Go check your watch where customers can’t see you! But the one who served us was lovely and courteous. Food was overpriced but beautifully presented and clearly thoughtfully put together. While some flavours felt slightly unbalanced, everything looked fantastic on the table. The hot drinks were excellent and were easily a highlight — very well made and enjoyable. Overall, a lovely café with great coffee and a nice atmosphere. With slightly more relaxed service and a little refinement on value, it would be even better.

Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the reviews. For the price paid, we were very disappointed in our burgers. The hot chips were soggy and luke warm and the $28 chicken burger was not cooked through and a very light helping of slaw, pickles and ranch dressing. The basil stir fry was missing basil and quite small serve for the $26. The iced coffees were delicious and fabulous service. But sadly our food choices let this cafe down.

We stopped for a breakfast way to tulip farm and we were really impressed with the food, service and the atmosphere. Must stop by cafe if you are in Burnie☺️

We sat in the alfresco area which happened to be where the toilets are. When people used the toilets they didn't close the door, which is very rude. The last thing you want to have when eating is the smell of toilets. We spoke to the staff and said they should have a sign on the door stating to keep door closed at all times. The staff weren't really interested. It was a very simple solution to a problem. Because of that experience I won't be returning. The food was quite good and the atmosphere nice but the toilet situation really let it down.

Great coffee every time! Located across the road from the beach and friendly staff. Places to have your dogs outside while you eat.

Yelp
This is a great play for a morning breakfast, morning tea and also has lunch options. With a great view of the ocean and extremely friendly staff this is one of my favourite places in wynyard. The presentation of the food was picture perfect and tasted fresh and flavourful, l definitely be coming back

Yelp
I've had Bruce's in my bookmarks for almost the entire year... when I first moved to Tassie, I used twitter to follow a lot of local businesses (and make some friends, too) and @brucescafe was one of them. The owner runs the twitter account and has a very real and down to earth approach that comes across... But I'm sorry to say that my first experience in the flesh is not awesome. I'm four minutes too late for the breakfast menu (finishing at 11:30am; I did not realise!), which breaks my heart. The staff are relentless and not particularly friendly. I'm not ready for lunch yet, so I just have a coffee and a delicious piece of cake. I do want to note that after I posted a "bummer dude" tweet, the owner got in touch and mentioned they weren't in on that day and were disappointed on my behalf, and passed feedback on to their staff... so Bruce's is still on my list and I hope to update this review with a more positive experience in the future. Plus, DELICIOUS cake.

Yelp
At one end of the Wynyard shared path and equipped with bike racks, Bruce's is a great excuse to stop pedalling and enjoy a cup. Park your bike (or car!) at the door and see what's on the menu. Likely you'll find good quality, modern café staples (think healthy but not hippie) with great gluten free options and a deft hand on the coffee machine. You might even catch an art exhibition for a distinctly local experience. There are magazines for the lone lingerer and enough room for chatty groups. Sit outside on sunny days and listen to the ocean or if it's raining there's a cosy sofa corner and amusements for the kids. Hip but not too hip for coffee with the school-set, Bruce's is relaxed yet stylish, a favourite with locals and more than busy enough to prove it.
