Bruern Cottages Office

Bruern is a collection of cottages in a large plot in a quiet part of the Cotswolds countryside. The cottages are tastefully put together with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The facilities are superb with a pool, tennis court, small gym, games room, bikes to borrow and attractive grounds leading down to a stream. Judging by the visitors book in our cottage (Sandown), lots of people are repeat visitors who value it is as a haven. We’ll be back as well.

It gives me enormous pleasure to review this accommodation for the second time after our initial stay in 2019. Back then, our family of six made the 24hour long haul for our first winter holiday in our beloved England. We checked into Weir House and were blown away. |As purveyors of luxury accommodation in two holiday areas of Australia, we are familiar with how a property should welcome its guests. Weir House did this in so many ways and if you are interested in renting it, I encourage you to read my review. We were so enthralled we quickly booked for May of 2020 - and then Covid hit. This and then a lengthy family illness meant that we were unable to return until this year - this time in late Spring. |My husband and I chose Wychwood cottage for the two of us, and it did not fail to delight. Once again we were greeted by the generous bounty of welcome products, milk, eggs, juice, incredible bacon and sausages, Champagne, bread, butter, jam and a gorgeous lemon drizzle cake. The table was set to enjoy. The kitchen has everything you need to get your own meals and the washing machine and dryer were accompanied with more than enough laundry liquid. |The desk in the living area was adorned with a large vase of flowers, making an already beautiful room even more inviting. Upstairs both bedrooms were light and airy with sumptuous bedding. These were complimented by lovely bathrooms with toiletries. Parking was so easy, just metres from the cottage and there is the huge advantage of being able to drive up to the front door to drop off your luggage before parking outside the courtyard. |We used the gym and the lovely indoor pool. Both are great and a valuable asset to those who like to keep up their fitness regime over the holidays. I noted again that Bruern continues to be generous in its provision of play experiences for small and older children. The property enjoys a peaceful location so convenient to so many of the Cotswolds attractions.|Wychwood looks out onto the central courtyard, and we were fortunate to meet and converse with staff members, Briony, Ziggy and Orlando. Their friendly manner went further to cement the feeling that we were staying in a lovely little village. |So the love affair with Bruern continues, and through the delightful Grace at reception we have booked Bookers cottage for September and will rebook Wychwood again for May of 26. Don't bother looking anywhere else, because nothing will be as good as Bruern for self contained accommodation. It provides a unique experience as if you have just stepped into the home of a friend. These cottages "hug" you as you enter. Where else will you find the childrens play areas, spa, indoor pool and gym, with helpful friendly staff on site. I am an avid flower gardener and the grounds are so delightful, even in winter.|We have adopted Bruern as our "Cotswold Home" and will return each year for as long as we can. A heartfelt thank you to the owners and their lovely staff for making us feel so welcome, and of course on job well done.

Marvelous location, extremely convenient facilities, perfect space for families with young children. It’s perfect alternative to a hotel, allowing utmost privacy silence and freedom. |Loads of activities in a super short driving distance. Plenty of farms and organic farm shops around.

22nd (more or less) year at Bruern. We ALWAYS have an amazing time!! Bookers was basically spotless and incredibly well equipped, the welcome basket is the most plentiful you will find in the area (if not the country!). Beds very comfy with blackout curtains which was nice and bathrooms were well designed. Two minor things - hot water was a bit of a problem - not enough for three to have baths basically! The pool area was a bit dirty and needed a clean (the actual pool was clean though!).||Didn’t see any spiders contrary to below…||See you next year!

This was the perfect place for our family of 6 (four boys 13-4) to stay at while we explored the Cotswolds. The hosts were so kind and accommodating, our cottage (the Shipton), was cozy and spacious (plus it had a washer and dryer—so convenient for traveling), and there was plenty of room outdoors for our boys to run around. (I think there were also adults/couples staying and there was plenty of space for our boys to enjoy without encroaching on their holiday.) We enjoyed the heated pool, and there were toys and floaties available to use. The pictures online are exactly how it looks in person—just so perfectly charming. I’d go back in a heartbeat with my family or just with my husband in a smaller cottage.

Stayed here with husband and kids in August. The cottage is lovely BUT if you are afraid of spiders like my daughter is then please avoid in the summer months. We removed at least 30 spiders, they were in every room, some bigger than my toddler’s hand. The cleanliness in the cottage wasn’t great overall which was disappointing given the price (£1600 for 2 nights). Pool area is also not that clean, and broken toys/equipment in the children’s play area.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Bruern cottages with some friends and have to say it was absolutely outstanding. We stayed in the Bookers cottage & it was beautiful. Great gardens, really great size kitchen & lounge for everyone and the beds were comfy too! The pool was lovely and warm, and we was lucky enough to bring our little baby on his first break and managed to get the pool all to ourselves for his first swim The gift hamper was a really nice touch on arrival. 10/10, we loved it and will be back for Christmas time

We rented all the cottages for a family reunion never-to-be forgotten. Everyone agreed it was the best time ever. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind including cutting buckets of flowers from the garden and allowing the install of our marquee, party equipment and ice cream bicycle on site. The high quality of accommodation, toiletries, food welcome basket, wonderful children toys and immaculate upkeep of the site and houses just a stone's throw from the farm cafe and shop, fields exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the owner, manager and staff. Lynda Taylor
