I was in Carmel and we wanted to get something to go and eat it at the beach. Place my order online and it was convenient. We ordered three sandwiches and a soup and they were very delicious. I highly recommend it if you want something to go.

We have been coming to Brunos for over a decade, and they never fail to deliver the best sandwiches you will ever have. They also have hot dogs, chili dogs, salads, etc. Make sure you go early to beat the lines, and take a number tab so you get help fast.

Google
Great option for a lunch that you can eat my the beach. It's maybe 15 minutes walking distance so you might want to pick up and then drive. Posted my order, it was excellent. I like to make sandwiches at home and this on really hit the spot Service is quick, you just fill out the form and hand it to them. The deli is in the back and you pay up front. Don't forget to grab some chips and a drink

Google
We ordered a brisket sandwich and it was just mouthwatering delicious. I don’t know how they got the combination so perfect. I’ve been to some good delis in New York but this one tops them all!

Google
Great place to grab Sandwiches and groceries if you are around the Carmel area We tried these sandwiches during our recent visit here - Pastrami - Turkey Avoacado - Brisket - Veggie The sandwiches hit the spot. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit this place again.

Google
Absolutely do not get their chicken. It is so overcooked and dried. We threw it out. That was last month. We ordered a hamburger, unfortunately it was to be for dinner. They must’ve cooked it at lunch and re-cooked it again. It was hard as a rock and no juice no flavor horrible never will order chicken or a hamburger from them again.!!!

Google
we wanted a deli for our lunch and dinner. we chose Bruno’s based on the google map reviews. the beef and pork ribs were outstanding. the service is great and the prices are reasonable. the butcher recommended the park across the street to eat our ribs for lunch. it was perfect. we came back and got salads, avocados and eggs for dinner. all were excellent. it’s now our go to place in carmel for food.

Google
Found out they have great sandwiches and they were absolutely delicious!!!!

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Support local. Small local market. But for us "tourists," it was the perfect size. See pictures. Plenty of drinks, snacks, and food options; prepared food options. Known for their deli (sandwiches) and other prepared foods. Atmosphere - Small local market. Support Local. Small private parking lot, 30 minute parking which was strictly enforced, especially during peak hours. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 8pm. Service - Good. Price - Reasonable, especially for Carmel. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1953 and to the current family ownership since 1981.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, but uniquely slow and inefficient process to order, wouldn't come here on a time crunch. You take a ticket and when they call your number it's your turn to order, which means you have to be standing around the sandwich counter until your number is called. Then, they make your food to order which is great, but as a result they're whipping out what felt like only 1-2 sandwiches at a time despite a full kitchen staff. I went with a group of 8, so you can imagine we were standing around for legitimately 30 minutes before everyone got their food. One at a time... no urgency. As I started with though, the sandwiches were honestly worth the wait. It's a little overwhelming that they don't have a preset sandwich menu, so you choose everything from the type of bread to the toppings, but after some deliberation my sandwich turned out great. Huge and worth the pretty average price. There's nowhere to eat except a couple benches outside so be prepared to take it to the beach or something. The market itself was nice - a lot of snacks, decent sample of groceries for a small market, and a lot of international goodies like Latin and Italian snacks/foods.

Yelp
Convenient and in the heart of town. Prices are pretty reasonable for a touristy area. Sandwiches are pretty good from deli. The only thing lacking was the service and smug employees who work there. No smiles, no "thank you", no "can I help you" from deli employees, made you feel invisible and made you feel like you were bothering them. This wasn't on one occasion either, we went in the store 3 different times during morning noon and evening. People aren't very friendly here, too bad since it was given high stars on Yelp. But from what I can see 2 years ago, the manager isn't accountable either for their behavior.

Yelp
Found Bruno's through a recommendation of our local host. We had heard they had weekend specials and decided to check it out since we didn't know what to do for dinner. Towards the back is a deli and a stand for the prime rib. We were so caught off guard with the size and crust on it. Everything looked so good with it so we decided to get two meals! Huge servings. It was totally worth it. Definitely recommend this spot if staying in the area. Great alternative to going out!

Yelp
The Erwon's of Carmel. Good lord! It is so expensive!!! A box of Triscuits, a pint of ice cream and a piece of chocolate $30. Went back in today for brown sugar, chocolate chips and 4 Granny Smith apples (to make Carmel apples) - $75!

Yelp
I came just for the sandwiches and it didnt blow my mind. They werent that good to me veryyyy basic no flavor. I was pretty disappointed. And pretty pricey too!! Service was descent nothing spectacular. No ambience this is a shopping mart with expensive goods.

Yelp
Came here based on Yelp reviews. The place was packed with people placing deli orders. It was around 30 minutes to get my order from the time I entered, ordered, and paid for the sandwich. Saw a hard working staff while I waited and the lady that waited on me was very pleasant. Large sandwich. I decided to eat at one of their tables right in front. Sandwich was good but I have had better tri tip sandwiches. This one was made with warmed up meat. I didn't care for the flavor of the BBQ sauce they use either. So I wouldn't get in again. However, I'd come back and try something else.

Yelp
Decided to try a new sandwich spot after going to Point Lobos and we were not disappointed. The deli is located in the back of the store where you complete a deli form, grab a number, and hand it to the deli clerk who will then prepare your meal. We created our own sandwiches, but they also have other food options. It was pretty busy, but we only waited around 15 minutes for our food to be ready and each sandwich was $11.99. There are a few tables outside, but seating is very limited. Parking is also limited and there is I believe a 30 minute parking limit. Overall, I definitely recommend this deli and will be going back.

Yelp
The ordering sandwiches situation is complicated. You have to grab a number, piece of pen and pencil and write down your sandwich individually by checking boxes for desired toppings, etc. Seems simple, but when it's a weekend and there's more than a few people waiting it's chaotic. People leave the line and their number gets bypassed, then they come in and ask if the people behind the deli can make an exception so they do. And then everything spirals and it takes forever because protocol isn't being followed. Overall sandwich was good, but the way it's ran is poor, and took almost an hour for three sandwiches.

Yelp
Small town market with everything and kind people! Prime dinner to go was spectacular. Highlight to know they do this on a Friday later afternoon until sold out! I look forward to trying more food from the deli menu !

Yelp
Fair priced deli sandwiches in the heart of Carmel. We picked these up before going on the 17 mile drive. Held up very well while we looked for a place to eat them- so, great for the road. It takes a little to order a sandwich- you'll fill out a slip and then take a number. You'll wait to get called but once you do the turnaround is quick. It can get very busy so there is a possibility you'll wait a while to get your number called. Keep this in mind when planning your visit. Cookie was delish! They're in the front by the register. They had a wide variety.

Yelp
Bruno's market and deli is just walking distance to the beach in Carmel. My husband and I parked nearby , picked up a tri tip sandwich, which was highly recommended by the very busy but very nice staff for $13.99 and a pasta salad. We walked to the beach and ate it there while our dog played and it was the most satisfying and delicious thing we had all day there. The one sandwich and one order of pasta salad was enough for the both of us. We picked up chips at the store too but they also sell wines, local snacks amongst other fresh deli items. It reminded me of the little markets you would find in Italy, so cute and convenient, it really gives a mom and pop feel when you enter. Recommend if you're in Carmel

Yelp
Great local market with Bbq and delicious sandwiches. When you want a inexpensive comfort food break come check out Bruno's. The brisket sandwich was delicious. I love potato salad but theirs tasted like Reser's and was quite expensive $6.15 for a small.

Kristie C.

Yelp
My husband and I are here for car week and the hotel where we're staying highly recommended this market. They have a fantastic variety of made to order sandwiches, deli salads, hot soup, and pre-made dishes to name a few. Their meat department is one of a kind with tasty chicken and trip tip right off the BBQ. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall a great family owned market that won't disappoint. We're looking forward to coming back next year.

Yelp
this is definitely the best hidden gem! an amazing sandwich place is hard to come by these days and Bruno's did not disappoint! I am not even exaggerating but my stomach is grumbling as I write this review and I will definitely dream about this sandwhich when I sleep tonight-i was just visiting so I'll have to keep reliving my sandwhich eating experience in my dreams until I go back again :( Tips: order online or else expect to wait a while to place and get your order (i waited an hour and was super hangry because i went in at 2 pm on a Thursday but it was so worth the wait!) I couldn't wait to eat the sandwich so I didn't take a picture but trust me she was loaded up!

Yelp
Small but mighty spot! I dropped by while on my visit to Carmel to visit the mission. I was told they had great food. Upon arrival, you walk into a small grocery store and walk to the back counter. You grab an order card and a number. I opted for a good old fashioned pastrami sandwich. You can have them make it exactly how you like it. You can sit outside, they have a few tables and benches. Sandwich was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Super hyped up deli spot, but took forever for our sandwiches to be ordered and made. You need to grab a ticket and fill out your form. We probably waited for our number to be called over half an hour before it was even made. The sandwich ended up being huge, but my sandwich was made incorrectly with items I did not mark that I wanted. I was disappointed since we waited so long and the customization part ended up being a con since it was incorrect anyways. The sandwich was still good but not worth the wait
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I were running errands and wanted a quick bite to share. I ordered build your own sandwich online to pick up and it was perfect! I wish I took a picture. Sesame roll, pastrami (asked for hot pastrami in the notes), swiss, mayo, mustard, lettuce, onions, pickles (best pickles!), salt and pepper. We will definitely be back and highly recommend! I still can't believe it was only $13.10! Also loved the small town local deli vibe! And John Madden out front. Did get a pic of my hubby with him!
google avatar

Catherine Z.

Yelp
First time here, and I got the hot chicken build your own sandwich, and I can honestly say it was the BEST sandwich I've ever had in my life. The deli is tucked away in a grocery store and seems unassuming but it was the highlight of my trip to Carmel. The wait was long (about an hour) but you can also place your order in advance either online or phone (forgot which one) and you can probably cut down on the wait that way.

Yelp
Bruno's Market is such a solid spot, I'm so grateful I stumbled upon the deli in the back. I tried the famous tri-tip sandwich (tender and sweet with BBQ sauce) and a build-your-own pastrami with chipotle sauce and mustard so fresh and toasted exactly how I wanted. The deli has this chill local vibe and the service was crazy fast. Perfect for a quick sandwich for the road. I wish there was a Bruno's in LA this place is a gem

Yelp
After reading the most recent reviews of Bruno's Market and Deli, I have to agree and disagree with what was said. First off, I think the prices were super reasonable for a super touristy town. The sandwich I order was very tasty and I was able to make two meals out of it. The market itself had a great hometown, family owned feel and I love that. The BBQ items looked very tasty, next time I will have to try it. As for customer service, I have to agree that needs improvement. It felt very cold and got the " Damn tourist go away vibe", especially the front of the house. Felt like we were inconveniencing him/her to do him/her job. Other than that, would I be back, I think so.

Cody C.

Yelp
Amazing deli and meat counter with very friendly staff and management. Try their tri tip sandwhich, you won't regret it. The BEST family owned grocery & deli!
google avatar

Deana M.

Yelp
We stopped by Bruno's because we wanted to see the new sculpture honoring John Madden. They have a great deli and lots of good sides to go with your sandwich. Nice variety of baked goods to finish off your to go meal. Definitely worth a visit!!

Amy A.

Yelp
Came here from a tik tok I saw saying these sandwiches were the best and they did not disappoint!
google avatar

Yelp
Bruno's is a small market with a deli in the back. When you walk in, turn right and go all the way to the back to order your sandwiches. They have piece of paper where you can build your own sandwich -- from the bread, sauces, toppings, meat, etc. They don't skip out on the ingredients -- so if you don't want a HUGE sandwich that's hard to bite, I'd suggest just getting one meat since they give a lot. After giving them your order, it doesn't take long for them to make the sandwich. The salami sandwich I chose was really good, the salami was nice and thick and packed in there and the sauces were delicious. Wish they toasted the bread so it doesn't get as soggy quickly but still delicious. The Tri-tip sandwich was alright. There wasn't that much meat, not enough sauce, and the meat was kind of dry.

Yelp
We were wine tasting in Carmel and I was super hungry, but no one else in the group was yet. I decided to check out Bruno's after walking by it earlier and figured I could grab a bite easily. I was pleasantly surprised by their deli and was excited to get a freshly made sandwich. The staff was helpful and friendly when they took my order. The Tri-Tip sandwich is really good and a good size, it was perfect to curb my hunger. The meat was tender and tasty, the sandwich had a really nice balance to it with the sauce and tomatoes but they probably overdid it on the cheese a bit for my taste. Then again, around Santa Maria you rarely see cheese on tri-tip sandwiches, just salsa or bbq sauce so I might be a tad biased on that account. Overall it was a pleasant experience, I would certainly go back and get this sandwich again and again.

Yelp
I was looking for a sandwich shop on Yelp in the area and stumbled upon this place. My bf loves tri tip sandwiches so I figured this was the place to be. The deli is located in the back, right when you enter you make a right and go down the aisle. We ordered two tri tip sandwiches ($13.99 each/ $30.57 total with tax), one with everything on it and the other without mayo. The guy making the sandwich was fairly quick on a Monday at lunchtime. As we waited, I noticed they had a huge variety of chips and drinks in the fridge. Not to mention potato and mac salads in the cases. The tri tip sandwich had the tri tip marinated in the sauce, red onion, mayo, bbq sauce, mustard, tomato, and cheese on a sesame bun. The bun was nice, soft and slightly toasted. The tri tip was okay, I felt like it was a bit dry (though I opted for no mayo on mine). I did wish there was more of that bbq sauce on it. At other establishments that I've been to, the tri tip sandwiches are usually a bit more messy because of all the sauce. You could definitely taste the mustard and tomato. My bf said it was okay, he said the cheese threw him off because he isn't used to having cheese in his tri tip sandwiches. There was a sign near the deli that said that if you ordered online, you can get 10% off your first order. I figured since I was already there, might as well just order in person. Plus, I saw when you check in on Yelp, you can get a $1 off your sandwich. However, when I walked up to the front to pay, I mentioned I had the Yelp check in for $1 off the sandwich and the young cashier lady just looked at me and said "I don't know what you're talking about ". When I showed her what showed up on my phone, she said "I've never seen this before" and her body language made me feel awkward for even asking to use the Yelp Check-In. So note to others that their check in coupon does not exist... so I guess don't even try to use it? They have a parking lot for those that were wondering, you can park in there for 30 minutes while shopping. However, car spaces are limited and you can always park on the street if need be!

Yelp
GREAT place for getting something to-go for the beach. A local business owner recommended this place and I will say, it did not disappoint. I got a sandwich from the deli, and there were so many chips and snacks to choose from. They have an organized form to fill out what you want in your sandwich, and it makes everything easy. The workers were friendly and easy going. Very chill environment. It's perfect for if you don't want to sit down and spend $$$ at a restaurant, and you just want to spend time at the beach having a picnic or hanging out. Especially because the restaurants in Carmel are pricey. Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Jean A.

Yelp
Decided to go in during 4th of July as I saw crowds constantly walking in throughout the day. We walk in and follow the people to the back of the store where there is a deli counter. We ordered a sandwich, got chips, drinks and a massive m&m cookie for our lunch. It was a great meal and the sandwich was packed with all our fixings! We would definitely come back for a sandwich and having at the beach. Definitely recommend! Also, don't forget a cookie!
google avatar

Ernie M.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in to get deli sandwiches but unfortunately they ignored us. We tried getting the staffs attention, but nobody came up to the counter and just kept walking by us. We were the only ones at the deli as it was late in the day. We thought they must have been understaffed so we decided to come back the next day. Well, the next day was worse. Two older gentleman were talking to each other behind the deli counter, my wife walked up and once again they ignored her. My wife said "excuse me", nothing. She then yelled louder "excuse me!" And finally they looked her way. All she needed was condiments for her pre packaged sandwich. The guy rudely dismissed her and told her to get them "under the microwave" which was BEHIND THE COUNTER mind you. He wouldn't even bother grabbing some for her. Stay away from this place unless you like crappy service. I would suggest Nielsen's market across town for sandwiches, their prices are better and the staff is super friendly. Bruno's may have good sandwiches but their staff is horrible. Forget this place.I'll never go back. You've been warned!
google avatar

Alwang D.

Yelp
Great variety of fillings From classic carnitas to unique octopus tacos this place has it all. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. Worth multiple visits

Katya K.

Yelp
Really cute little market with a nice deli as well. We got sandwiches and the fresh squeezed orange juice. The sandwiches were stuffed and tasty. The oj was probably the best I ever had in my life, super sweet and definitely fresh. The stock in the market also seemed local and unique. Will definitely come again when in the area :)

Anna H.

Yelp
This was our favorite meal in Carmel (unexpected, I know)! We built our own sandwiches and brought them down to Carmel Beach to enjoy with a beautiful view. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Bruno's is the perfect stop before heading to the beach. Great selection, delicious and great-looking sandos, and lots of options at the market. The next time we're heading to Carmel Beach, we are stopping by here first.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Cute little market, with plenty of variety of different snacks, drinks, and groceries. The prices are a little steep in here compared to a normal grocery store but it's totally understandable. To order your sandwich, you head to the back and fill out a piece of paper and take a number. Once your number is called you handover your paper with your sandwich order and you wait until your name is called. It was fairly busy the day we went, wait was around 15-20 minutes for the sandwiches, but it gave us time to look around the store. Decent sandwich with fresh ingredients and good bread.
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
Good sandwich. Make sure you order online. The system in the store is bonkers and does not work. I waited for 20 min for them to take my sandwich slip in the store. Many other customers had been waiting 40/50 min just to order. Once I ordered online, it was much faster.
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
This place was just down the street from our hotel, so very convenient for us to walk to on our little vacation. It's a mini market and well stocked with everything. We got bottled water to drink at night, my husband got some candy, one night we stopped in and grabbed some deli food for a late night dinner. Prices were high, but this is Carmel, so I'm not surprised. But everything was decent and I'd definitely come back again if I was in the area.
google avatar

Marielu G.

Yelp
This review is for their deli shop only! Holy guacamole this has got to be one of my new favorite sandwich spots. You get to build your own and an easy experience that also allows you to take your time on what you want in your sandwich. You fill out a slip that has a list of breads, fillings, meats, and sauces for your sandwich. As someone who is indecisive as me I really enjoyed this type of set up! Taking orders directly in the line adds a lot of pressure so this allowed me to take my time. A big compliment to their francesca roll and chipotle spread. Those definitely made the sandwich what it was: delectable. The bread was soft and fluffy and the chipotle sauce had a burst of flavor, I'm convinced they might make it in house! Everything inside of this sandwich was so fresh, I felt energized after finishing it. Also, the size may vary on the type of bread you get, but this was easily shared by two people who needed a quick midday bite :)
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Bomb ass big ass sandwiches! Huge portions make this place a great contender for a lunch spot! There was a wait but it allowed us to pick out chips and a drink for our car picnic later!
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
There's parking at the market, there's a restroom right across the street from the market, the Deli section is confusing, It has several signs however, there is no one around to help you and the service is extremely slow. Food is expensive here. Brisket meat on sandwich was tough, I would not shop here again.
google avatar

Alexys E.

Yelp
On a little staycation trip to Carmel, we were just looking for a good ol' deli sandwich to have on the beach. I'd heard of Bruno's on TikTok, so this was the choice. I really like how you can customize your sandwich on a card. The sandwich was big enough to split between my husband and I, and then since it's also a full-fledged market, we got drinks, chips, and desserts. We both got some amazing carrot cake which came from some local bakery I think. It was honestly some of the best carrot cake I've had. Anyway, the sandwich itself was delicious and fresh. We will make Bruno's our regular spot for beach sandwiches!
google avatar

Elber V.

Yelp
I made my own sandwich and it got busy out of nowhere but really nice people over the counter I packed my sandwich and took it to point lobos to enjoy my lunch and it was really tasty

William D.

Yelp
Custom sandwiches at the deli. Be patient, well worth the wait. The tri-tip is excellent. Friendly relaxed vibe to the store.
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Bruno's deli is must stop while in Carmel. Their sandwich deli has incredibly fresh and delicious options. The burrito bar that they have in front of the store is phenomenal. Massive burritos loaded with your choice of flavorful, perfectly seasoned meats.
google avatar

Emrie T.

Yelp
This local spot came recommended for our beach day. We walked in a they had a pulled pork sandwich special going on, so we bought one of those with lots of cheese and red onions and barbecue sauce. We then went to the deli. I highly recommend you write your order out first on their order slips before you take a number. They move fast!! This place is also a market so there were plenty of drinks or snacks to get too. We enjoyed our hefty sandwiches on the beach, really hit the spot. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches at the cost of at least a half hour wait when it's busy. My bf and I were there on a Sunday just before headed to Carmel Beach. You have to take a number and wait to be called. We spent the time waiting by browsing through the store and picking out our chips and drink to pair with the sandwiches. When you have the time to wait, it's worth it. It would probably be much better if you avoid lunch and dinner hours. They were also mostly out of their bread selection so we just had a seeded french roll I think. I also had the wedding soup. While it tasted fine, the ingredients were cooked to mush. I would guess they get a batch of soup that comes in already made and they just warm it up, so skip the soup and only get their sandwiches. Yelp also has a coupon you can use during your visit. You can use it at check out.
google avatar

Melissa I.

Yelp
Really excellent sandwiches. Just what we needed for our beach picnic. I had a turkey club, son had pastrami, both great.
google avatar

Yashna R.

Yelp
I'm just going to echo what everyone else has said -- this place probably has the best tasting sandwiches I've ever had! The quality is top-notch, and the meats are incredibly fresh and flavorful. There's also a nice park across the street with benches, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your sandwich.
