Yelp
A group of us recently visited Bruno's new location, and unfortunately, it will be our last visit. The food and service were adequate, but one dish had to be returned because it was cold. This review is based on our experience and impressions during the visit, and what stood out most was the unprofessional behavior we overheard.
Toward the end of our meal, staff were called upstairs for a meeting, during which we could clearly hear a male voice speaking loudly, yelling, and using profanity, including multiple F-bombs. The yelling appeared to be directed at an individual or individuals regarding their performance that day, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. What is particularly bothersome is that such behavior should never be directed at someone in front of a group--it's unprofessional and demoralizing.
It was also troubling that the outburst was loud enough for the few remaining staff downstairs--and customers like us--to hear, yet the staff appeared unfazed. This gave me the impression that such behavior might be tolerated within the restaurant, which reflects poorly on the leadership culture.
Even after we mentioned this to the hostess, the behavior continued loudly, creating an uncomfortable environment for us as customers and raising serious concerns about how employees are treated. In my opinion, a leader who feels the need to treat others this way demonstrates significant weaknesses--such as a lack of confidence, competence, and the ability to inspire respect.
Unfortunately, this experience has left us unable to recommend Bruno's of Brooklyn.
