An essential stop on Bruny. You'll have to tussle to get a seat but it's worth the wait. Treat yourself to a flight of wine and a shared platter - the fresh sourdough is tops.

Absolutely loved our visit to Bruny Island Cheese Co! We ordered the Cheese Farmer Platter, which included three different types of cheese, fresh accompaniments, and beautifully baked sourdough bread. Every single item was incredibly fresh, full of flavour, and showcased the best of local produce — simply delicious. We also ordered the tray of four beers, which was a fantastic way to sample a range of their craft brews. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed, with a lovely outdoor seating area surrounded by nature, adding to the charm of the experience. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. If you’re visiting Bruny Island, Bruny Island Cheese Co is an absolute must — an unforgettable spot to enjoy amazing food, great drinks, excellent service, and the perfect Tasmanian vibe.

A brilliant setting for a brilliant business. Not only do they produce wonderful cheeses from their own herd, but also artisanal beers. The cheeses are so delicious and can be ordered on line. We had a specialised group tasting but tasting plates are available and a small range of light meals which include cheese of course. They also make their own sourdough bread which is delicious. You can do a beer tasting as well.

We chose to book the cheese tasting session and it did not disappoint! Lovely beer, wine or non alcoholic beverages to choose from and a huge amount of cheese, condiments and warm fresh bread. The information on each cheese was interesting and welcomed. A surprise standout was the beetroot relish and pickles! The team were amazing, thank you so much for having us and sharing your passion for all things delicious!

Nice stop over to enjoy their grazing platter. Would have liked more cheeses to be on offer/sale. Nice outside seating and customer service was casual/relaxed. The bread and butter pickle and Kasundi was the standout.

Beautiful and tasty little piece of paradise! Very friendly staff, quick to offer a sample taste along with very knowledgeable information on each cheese sample you're given. High recommend the smokey 1792 for any cheese lover, it's pure melt in your mouth goodness! <3 Be sure you try a cheese board as well as a beer paddle and soak up all the goodness this place has to offer! I missed it the moment I left but will definitely be back.

Another stop in Bruny to try on their award winning cheese that seems to be the hype of the cottage! Tried 4 types of cheese but only Raw C2 - 1 day old, capture my tastebud. Ordered the Farmer's plate under recommendation from the shopkeeper, it was good but too much cheese for 2! Overall experience was a bit too much cheese for the day! Not sure if it's Saint or 1792 or OEN it does tasted like blue cheese. If you guys like some bluecheese then this has almost similar taste to it!

The Farm Platter, with a baked cheese wrapped in prosciutto, was amazing. Accompanied by one of the best sourdough breads I've ever eaten, as well as apple chutney sauce, and two other types of cheese, the platter feeds nicely 2-3 people. Beers were fabulous and staff members super friendly. Undoubtedly a nice place to be.

Yelp
Our second pit stop was at Bruny Island Cheese Company. They're an artisan cheese shop with a brewery inside too. It's a two minute drive from Get Shucked. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 3:30pm). The space is beautiful with a lot of seating outside amongst the trees and nature. Service is a bit spotty as it took awhile for us to get a cheese tasting flight. There's a lot of things to peruse once you're inside; cheese, fresh breads made on site (sourdough bread for $7.50 AUD), honey, muesli, granola, sauces, jams, oils and more. Beers are on tap (7 types) with a guest tap (Bruny Island Cider when we went). You can get a tasting paddle ($12.00 AUD) which lets you try four pre-picked flavours. For non drinkers, there's coffee and shakes. The chalkboard menu outside had about half a dozen options; platter, ploughman's lunch, oven baked otto, sourdough pizza, sourdough croque monsier, toastie and sourdough fruit toast. Saw a platter and pizza come out to a table that looked scrumptious. - Cheese tasting flight ($5.00 AUD) - you get to sample four types; tom (semi-hard), george (semi-hard), saint (classic Camembert) and 1792 (washed rind). All were tasty but our favourite was the 1792. It was aged on aromatic Huon Pine boards. Another fun spot to grab drinks and enjoy good food. You could easily spend a few hours wining and dining here.

Yelp
We picked up a bunch of goodies for lunch before our hike to flute cove. Two sticks of bread, cheeses and wine. It was a perfect lunch alongside the road top payout with our unshucked oysters.

Yelp
Seldom does a multipurpose restaurant/bar and food/beermaker reach perfection, but this comes pretty close from what I can tell. It's a beautiful space, it has the beer was the best I had in Australia (I've had about 60 different Aussie beers), it's right off the main road and it has a wood fired oven. The also make local cheese (note, I don't actually eat cheese, so I can only comment that it looked amazing). If you like beer stop here. For a flavorful heavy beer that packs a punch, have the metric stout, but don't plan to drive after, as it is 10% ABV.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by on a food tour of Bruny Island and really enjoyed all the hard and soft cheeses they offered. I normally only like hard cheese bu their Brie was really good and I had a few types. They also have a beer company on site so this place is perfect.

Yelp
This stop was one of the highlights of Bruny Island for me. More than just cheese is what you will find here. They have honey, sauces, beer and wine. Some nice gifts or just stop for a snack. One thing they could do is have a wine and cheese tasting. It goes hand in hand to me yet you can only buy a cold beer but only wine bottles for take away. They should really capitalise on that market. Cheese was splendid! Several varieties to sample for free and all were delicious in their own right! There is cute indoor and outdoor seating. Some days you can view them making cheese. Otherwise enjoy all the native birds and other nibbles you will find here.

Yelp
I'm glad I saved writing this review for a day I was feeling pretty tops about cheese, as I've had past strong miserly feelings about this location and they're just not fair because you know what? Bruny Island Cheese is tops. It's just really good. If you ever get to the point where you have ranked favourites for a cheese company, that means they are Pretty Dang Good. Don't forget that. My most recent stop at the factory was just a couple of days ago, when a friend desperately needed a caffeine top-up. The coffee here is bloody delicious and you can enjoy it on a stunning Bruny day nestled into beanbags on the tiered decks out the front of the shop, where things are a little quieter than the hustle and bustle of inside. Inside, however, is where you get to taste all the cheeses. Do not hesitate in scoffing the ODO (my current favourite) or that one wrapped in vine leaves (my previous favourite, recently bumped down to #2). Only one toilet between a bunch of tourists passing through probably isn't great, even on a mildly busy Friday (I dread to think of a Saturday or Sunday) I hung around for what felt like ages (doesn't it always feel longer when you're waiting?). The only other thing BICC is lacking is an amazing Bruny view, but drive a minute either way and you'll soon find that again.

Yelp
Excellent staff who were always gracious and attentive at this fabulous little find on Bruny Island. We stopped for a bit of a look any maybe a coffee but were transported to a world of delightful cheeses and a range of above standard drinks. Cheese platters with a few extra treats, needless to say we stayed awhile and even purchased cheeses to take home and Mathew Evans glorious book Winter Food on Puggle Farm.

Yelp
The cheeses is good, the beer smell honey. I love the fruit paste which it included in the cheeses platter. Kids cheeses finger is too sweet for me

Yelp
One word: delicious! Some of the best cheese I have ever had and the pizza I had was divine. Would definitely recommend. It is also such a beautiful setting. A must on Bruny island.

Yelp
I'm a bit of a cheese head and so finally getting to visit visit this place after years of enjoying their cheese back in Melbourne was a highlight of my trip to Bruny Island. We got there late in the day - around 3.30pm - and the kitchen was soon due to close. Not such a big deal as we only wanted a cheese board. I shouldn't say "only" because it implies that the cheese board was just some basic affair, which is most certainly wasn't! What came out was a board filled with three gigantic chunks of cheese of varying textures and flavour along with pickled cherries, olives and a house made baguette, thinly sliced. There would have been easily 300gm of cheese there! Sitting on the outside deck drinking local cider and trying to defeat this board of fromage was a relaxing way to spend the next hour. The One Day Old (ODO) was my favourite - a fresher, softer cheese marinated in richly flavoured oil that allowed the quality of the milk to shine through. Unfortunately on the day we visited there wasn't a larger selection of cheese available for tasting (due to being so close to Christmas when production stopped for a little while), but I'm told there's usually a wide variety to try before you buy and staff are happy to discuss each cheese in great detail so you can understand how they're made and matured. The cheese board won that day. We took the last chunk home, along with house-baked fruit buns, to devour for breakfast the next day.

Yelp
Great stop in Bruny Island. The cheeses are simply incredible. They are even baking their own breads onsite now. Highly recommended.

Yelp
On our way back to North Bruny through the neck, we wanted to stop at the famous cheese factory. I was expecting a more overpowering smell but while I could whiff it from the carpark it was actually a nice smell and once we got in I couldn't really smell anything which speaks volumes for its cleanliness and presentation. We decided to stay for lunch and I'm glad we did. As I've been saying, service makes ALL the difference and John, the coffee man there, just made the whole thing a lovely experience. Warm, friendly and informative whilst being unobtrusive, a rare combination. We started off with a coffee. John came up with the cups with a shot in them and poured the milk in, creating a heart at the last flourish and just... made the whole thing an experience. Coffee was good, had that slightly bitter first taste which disappeared after that first sip. While we were sipping coffee, they announced they were hooping up the cheese so my sister and I went to investigate. You could watch through glass windows as three smiling staff proceeded to scoop up what seemed like curds out of whey in white buckets with sieve holes in them then place them on the metal table with a sink for the whey to run off into. Pizza was next. Amazing home made thin base with lovely tomato, melted (excellent) cheese and their own olives with prosciutto on half of it. The whole thing just had snap to it and the prosciutto was exquisite, really made me think about Europe and the times I have visited France, Italy and Germany. It wasn't razor thin or transparent. Just enough that you had to give it two chews and let it melt into salty oblivion in your mouth. To finish it off was the famous cheese platter. We got five samples, all of which were marvelous and perfectly suited five people. The little ramekin of pinot cherries were delightful, slightly fizzy and wonderful for cleansing the palate for the cheeses. By the time we were just about finished, John was cleaning up the table behind us and we had a chat with him then got up, bought a loaf of the home baked bread, some cheese for tonight's risotto, a jar of the olives and another of the cherries and I bought a bottle of the elderberry and elderflower concentrate ($30 for the two bottles) and we all left in high spirits. Thank you for giving us such a lovely experience. Highly recommended. 4.5/5

Yelp
I'm crazy about this place. If you're in Hobart, you absolutely have to make the quick 30min drive down to Bruny Island, jump on the ferry and go exploring! It's a fantastic area, and this should be your #1 spot. Fantastic cheese, bread and wine, and a beautiful place to relax!
