If you haven't made this a regular go to for reasonably priced excellent food you are really missing out! The place is bright, clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is fantastic!! We were in Marathon for 7 days, and we ate here 6 times!! We had Brunch on Sunday, Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. My wife and I both ordered the same items twice for dinner, it really is that good! The conch salad in the plantain cups is really to die for...Never saw that presentation before and it was excellent! The salads are crisp and fresh, the fish is fresh and excellently prepared, and that coupled with the friendly service we received from Barbie makes this a go to! Highly Recommend!!

Visited the Keys for 4 days! ☺️ Brutus Land & Sea was absolutely the best and freshest seafood we had while visiting! Don’t pass this place up! Sit on the open air patio, watch the roosters, and enjoy some delicious food! We had dinner here the first night we arrived, went back for breakfast the next morning! Tried multiple other places during our visit, but this is the best dinner option by far!!

We had the pleasure of dining here twice on our 50th Anniversary Trip to Key Colony Beach Jan 3rd through the 10th. I had their Cuban Sandwich and my Wife had the Fried Key west Pink Shrimp on Sunday and it was the best Cuban Sandwich I have ever had. I spoke with the Owner and told him that I had never eaten a Cuban Sandwich in Miami, but I've tried them in many places and I felt theirs was the Best. Then of Friday my Wife and I shared the Grilled Brutus Platter with an added Crab Cake and a Shrimp Chowder Soup of the Day. Everything was outstanding! I tried to get the Shrimp Chowder Soup Recipe, but they unfortunately declined my request! We hope to make this trip to Key colony an Annual trip. We will see Y'all again! Thanks for the great service and food.

Omg! Best fresh fish in the keys by far! So delicious and well made. Also even if food would not be great I would come back because of the amazing server we had, such a sweet nice and clean server, had a lot of patience and recommended us nice dishes. I def will drive down to the keys only to eat at this place! I’m in love with the food and service we had.

Didn't try this restaurant until our last night in Marathon, so happy we did. We ordered the Crab Chowder and it was meaty and delicious, then I ordered the Blackened Platter which was cooked perfect. The food is great and a nice dinning area that is bright and colorful.

Fish market and bar + grill. Had a pound of stone crabs and the Brutus Platter with grilled cohiba, keys lobster tail and key west pink shrimp. $12 for a neat pour of 1800 is steep and well tequlia was not a good brand. No THC drinks here so had a bottle of bud on HH special. Noah was wonderful. Thank you for the service.

Absolutely must go! I think the hype of "on the water" spots overrides great food in this area and this was our fav meal of the week. Don’t miss out on great seafood for a view of water!! This indoor/outdoor hybrid restaurant was delicious and really a great find. Clean restaurant, fast service, and delicious food! Seafood was fresh, seasoned to PERFECTION and not overcooked or oily. Fried seafood is a light dusting with great flavor and doesn't taste like flour and oil at other spots. Service was outstanding and don't leave without a slice of chocolate cake or pie. Absolutely will be back!

This food is a 10/10 for us. We had Barbie as a waitress, and she was AMAZING! She was very nice, and we had good conversation. Definitely will return if we come back to the keys.

Food was excellent. Reasonable priced and drinks were amazing. We had the key west shrimp and teriyaki chicken. Very tasty with sides of black beans salad and rice.

This fun restaurant had live music when we went, and it was packed. The service was friendly, but the food was a little slow. They had the best fried conch of the several places where I tried it while on this trip. It was not chewy at all.

Food was good. Service was very good, but we are at the bar which was small. Tiki eating area is very nice. While there I ran into a local I knew, which says a lot.

Five stars for Brutus! Ambiance: The vibe and decor is beautiful! Tropical island feels! Everything is super clean and the space is bright ! Large outdoor terrace completely shaded and large trees near by for a wonderful breeze! Service: our waitress was super friendly and very fast and accommodating. She made a lot of suggestions about the menu which we appreciated. Food: what I loved the most is that everything was super fresh. We had the fish ceviche. So good!! Good portion as well. Also had the yellowtail sandwich - very fresh! Ordered the taco salad with filet mignon on top! Very good! Steak was cooked perfectly as ordered. Brutus serves breakfast daily and they have Sunday brunch! Love those options! Definitely coming back often! A gem in our neighborhood!

Visited this restaurant recently. Made reservations and even with reservations we waited for 1 hour after ordering and didn't receive any food, not even the appetizer course. We have eaten here before on a prior trip and it was good but this time it was very short staffed and chaotic. Not recommended this time.

Service was a little lacking, host & both servers said they were new & didn't know much about the menu, and were slow to cone around throughout the meal. Food was over all good. Prices seemed reasonable, but some items were light on volume. Crab cake app was really good. But the one that came with my dinner platter was very thin compared to the two that came with the appetizer. I upgraded to the grouper fillet in my large seafood platter entrée, it tasted good, but it was so small. I could've eaten it in one bite. I'd be willing to give it another try when we go back, if you sit outside, you are literally right next to the highway and traffic noise is moderately loud.

Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. The owner was so nice and really made the experience enjoyable. You can buy fresh fish to take home or eat in there, which is great. My wife and I shared the Poseidon platter and it was the perfect size. Watching the chickens in the tree next door while we ate was such a fun little bonus. If you go just before dusk you can watch them climb the tree to go to sleep.

If you like extremely fresh fish prepared perfectly and simply, this is the spot. They really know local fish and how to make the flavor shine. Let me be specific. If you want salmon or lobster thermador, go someplace else. If you want yellow tail, triple tail snapper or grouper, then come here. Ask what is off the boat today. I recommend the blackened seasoning which they apply sparingly. Tastes great and is not salty. The servers know their stuff. I like the thatched roof area for dinner because of the ambiance. But the deck in the other side has no tvs. A plus. You will love it. My fav.

We visited Brutus on a cool January evening and sat inside. The decor was updated and nice, with murals painted by a local artist in the bathrooms which my interior-designer wife loved. I had the fish of the day, which was cobia, and my wife had a chicken and artichoke salad. Her salad was very good and my cobia was good but it was a very thin filet and was a bit overcooked. The owner came to speak with us and he was such a wonderful guy I didn't have the heart to tell him my fish was overcooked (I guess he will know now ). The owner cares a lot about his customers and our waitress was great.

One of those I don't want to leave a review and spoil what feels like a hidden gem type reviews. Stopped here to dine in for some stone crabs (we saw the sign from the road), insanely fresh considering the price. Also got a pulled pork sandwich and shrimp tacos, both delicious. We were there right when it opened so not sure how busy it gets. We did see several locals and/or tourists drop in to ask about the catch of the day, the market seems a great spot to pick up seafood. Great service, but I could see it getting tricky if the crowd picked up. Certainly no frills seating, but expected considering how great the prices and quality were. They were telling us about some expansions and renovations, so it may spruced up by our next keys trip - because we will definitely be returning!

Great service Good breakfast The lobster and grits were a disappointment Instant grits made with water only with some sprinkled cheese on top was LAME Here's how you need to make them- Instant In a medium saucepan, bring chicken broth and 2 cups water to a boil; generously season with salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and bring to a simmer. Whisk in grits and cook, whisking constantly, until grits have absorbed liquid and are very tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in cheese and butter until melted; season with salt and pepper. Top with chopped green onions

We went here because our first choice was an hour wait. I am so glad we skipped our first Yelp choice! The food was so good! Our waitress was incredible. Everything about eating was awesome. Don't hesistate stopping here for lunch or dinner!

Food was overall good, but the main dish we came for was the Buffalo Mahi bites. They used to be thick, but they were very thin. (We last came in 2022.) Drinks were good and ambience was cool! The server was not very attentive.

Our experience was awful. Food was bland. Service was clueless. I ordered Sauvignon blanc and was brought a Cabernet Sauvignon.the overpriced stone crab claws were mushy. The server was nice but the busgirl was not helpful at all. Will definitely not return.

Great spot and new owners really have given the place such a nice refresh. The facelift of the restaurant is great, space feels fresh and light inside and out. Fish dip is DELICIOUS! Alfredo pasta with scallops we're divine, they really cook the scallops well and they melt like butter. My husband a had grouper wrap blackened and he loved it.

I had the grouper it was the best fish I've had on this whole trip. It was seasoned to perfection. I got it grilled. They have many options for side dishes. Everyone was happy with their meal. The waitress Shay was extremely attentive and patient. She was by far one of the best waitresses we've had this whole time. they have a good fish selection. They also have a nice case full of fish that you can purchase the smoked fish dip looked so good Yum. Thank you so much.

Loved discovering a different island in the keys and really enjoyed our breakfast here. We came on a Monday and service was great for having just one server working on a pretty busy morning. All of our food was fantastic, especially the potatoes! Will be coming back during each of our visits!

Incredible service by ida and Annie !!!! Went for dinner and it was so incredible we went for brunch !!!!!!! Amazing food , entertainment (Saturday night), and food !!!! Went again Sunday on our trip back to fort laud and took the recommendation from Annie to get the seafood omelette and was AMAZING !!!! Thanks for the great experience ladies !!!!!

This was by far our best meal the entire week in Marathon FL. Food and service were spectacular. Place is very clean and we had a couple chickens walk in to have a look around.

We had the shrimp salad and calamari salad. Both delicious. Service with Emmy was excellent. Atmosphere is nice. Extra plus benefit-live music downstairs!

Quick service and fun atmosphere. The Spicy Mamasita's (spicy margarita) were my favorite.

The crab cakes had too much breading and were way flatter than we usually liked. The seafood was all very fresh. The fried shrimp and lobster were a bit overcooked or the oil was too hot. All tasted good.

The service was excellent. I had the posidon platter. The fish, shrimp and scallops were good. The crab cake was the worst I've ever had. Flat, mushy, too salty and couldn't taste the crab. In the Keys? Ridiculous!

Absolutely spectacular overall experience. Great live music, excellent service (even more impressive because they are often quite busy), and the food is always superb. I love a good fried snapper, and they do it just right every single time. Kathleen is often our server, and I can't say enough good things about her. Always gets our orders right, keeps up with drinks, and always entertaining and fun to chat with. Brutus is great, but I'm not going to lie, we keep coming back for Kathleen!

Service was crazy slow (1.5- 2 hours for food), and the manager wasn't particularly apologetic. Seems to be an ongoing issue and the staff seemed at their wit's end (but they were very nice). I wouldn't go back.

Delicious seafood omelette and coffee! It was super quiet since we went on a weekday and during off season! Service was fast!

Stopped on our way back from Key West. Got the lobster bisque. To start and the flavor was awesome. I got one of the sampler plates for dinner with a variety of sea food. Everything was cooked perfect and delicious. Too full to try any desert. Next time!

We always keep an open mind when eating out but this place was not good for food or service! The Ambiance was great but overall this is a place that is 100% off the list for all future keys trips. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I can't say anything nice about it. A table was sat after us and attended to before us, they ate and left 20 minutes before we even got our food. We came from the restaurant business so I get good and bad days but the lack of care the staff had for our service is just not caring. The food barely had any flavor and the service was just enough to keep a job. Update we complained to the manager and she took 10% off the bill, when the check came out they charged us for a chicken Caesar when she only had a Caesar salad. Overall will not be returning.

horrible. the sign brought me in. Stone crabs. I order a pound of them, 80 dollars. went over to the fish store and they were 32.00 a pound. 48.00 extra dollars. tourist trap. never will I eat there and will tell everyone for the next month what crooks you are. asked to speak to the manager but was unavailable. We were looking forward to eating here. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated. That was the best part of the experience. Everything went to hell after that. We waited 15 minutes before a hostess asked if we had gotten drinks and then took our order. She brought our drinks and we watched as 4 other tables were seated and experienced the same trauma, only the hostess did not help them. We saw one couple wait 30 minutes before they got their drinks. The prices for food are ridiculous for what is served, the food is mid and that is probably only bc my stomach was eating itself after waiting so long. No one ever apologized or acted like waiting an hour and half was a bad thing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE FRIEND.

Service is great here. You can be I. The tiki hut for dinner or inside with air conditioning. Menu choices are many and everything g looks great.

Went twice. First time the waitress/bartender Autumn was super friendly and helpful. She made a great margarita. We enjoyed buffalo hogfish and a couple sandwiches. I had the Brutus with black bean salad, both tasty. My husband had the fish Ruben (I forgot the name) and sweet potato waffle fries. His was delicious. We returned the next day craving another buffalo hogfish appetizer. Dawn was our waitress/bartender. Equally friendly and helpful service and the food was consistent with our previous experience. I would recommend this lunch spot.

Great spot! Gotta check them out. Everything was cooked to perfection! Seems to be a mom and pop place atleast that's how it felt.

We wanted to like this place, we really did. Conch fritters were great and our server was awesome with our young kids who wanted to talk her ears off. 35 min after our app, one kid got buttered noodles. 30+ minutes later the second kid got their noodles. Don't get me started on spaghetti noodles on a kids menu- makes no sense. Another 20min before our food came out, cold and overcooked. Had to go inside to pay be a no one came to check on us. Turns out they had no chef that night. Had they told us, we would not have cared. Luckily the chickens and roosters on the porch entertained the kids. Probably will not return.

Nice place with live music; however, a bit awkward when live music isn't playing and it's super quiet. The vibe is a little different than your normal restaurant. The mahi sandwich, fries, and chowder were delicious. Make sure to read the fine print for market price items as it will add up and may catch you by surprise once the bill comes. The bean salad on the side is spicy in my opinion. The lighting within the Inside dining area is not pleasing...more of a take out style feel. 5 star service, staff was very attentive!

Off the Resort - Best choice! Friendly service. Great recommendations. We stopped in for a quick lunch and were very pleased. Blackened Mahi sandwich and chicken wrap was good. Chicken was cooked fresh and juicy with tons of flavor. Coleslaw very good and the potato salad was a fantastic recommendation. Busy lunch spot with a choice to sit inside or out. We will be back - probably for breakfast next time while we're in town.

4 of us had breakfast this morning at Brutus, everything was awesome! Very nice portion sizes and reasonably priced! The staff were all very friendly and attentive! The Newly renovated inside and out is very welcoming! We will be going back!!

Came here not expecting much, but the combination of a good tiki bar, live music, and delicious food quickly changed our minds. Despite the name, Brutus is the place to eat in Marathon. Delicious food at reasonable prices with live music! We had the catch of the day and the Vacay salad, both were very good and fresh! Would definitely come here again! Service was friendly.

Enjoyed breakfast there and first of all the place is spotless and decorated very well. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. Have no problem recommending.

We first attempted to try this restaurant on a Saturday. The hours on Yelp and their website state they close at 9pm. We arrived at 7:55pm and the staff said they were closed as we walked in. We decided to give them another try for lunch. Our waiter was great! Our food was delicous! We had the Brutus ($16.99) blackened comes with one side...I chose black bean salad. The salad was good but it is served cold. We also had fish tacos & sweet potato fries that were so good. The potato salad is good and just basic. Everyone enjoyed their food and if we are in the area again, we will stop by!
