"Focusing on a mix of small plates and natural wine, Brutus has gained a cult following since it was founded in the Tøyen district back in 2017. One of its stand-out offerings is its six course tasting menu, showcasing the best of Norwegian and Scandinavian cooking. As well as reflecting its Oslo location, the menu takes influence from chef Arnar Jakob Gudmundsson’s Icelandic roots."

We had absolutely delicious food and wine here. My favs were the perfect grilled octopus and blue cheese filled croquettes. We also ordered padron peppers, veal tartare, olives, bread & olive oil, and tortilla. For the wines, we went for a Catalonian and Austrian red. Catalonian was our fav. I wish we were able visit here more often 💛

El Brutus in Old Oslo. Who knew? Somebody did. What an amazing Galacian treat. Estela and her crew were super welcoming. We enjoyed the full tasting menu. Well worth it. Some highlights, a leak entree, pan cooked Octopus and Croquetas. So authentic, so good. Great selection of wine. A must for foodies coming to Oslo! 🤤🤤🤤

Rats In The Kitchen

Bar Brutus = 🐀🐀🐀🐀 (4 of 5 rats) They are really trying to make the best out of it. Ok. So some of the wine is cold and hipster, but overall a nice experience with food for those who like to try something different. Service is friendly and experienced. The interior is as expected at a hipster place. Really nothing to complain about except that you’re getting more value for the money other places in Oslo. Look out for the Rat Pack - we will return in the future.

Cosmic Guide

We came for the oysters and seafood, called for a reservation and checked availability which they had. Upon arrival, the server said they just ran out of oyster stock in the same day due to the high demand of orders. From our frustration w the no oyster on the kitchen to the bad house French red wine that tasted like cider, the server managed to navigate smoothly through the crisis and recommended us other options on the menu which we did. The Vongole and celeriac pleasantly surprised our stomachs and gave that shell fish fix we were looking for. We had to go for a second round of this dish because it was that good and the clams were sourced from the same supplier as the oysters. The radish and ricotta was a fantastic starter and the wolffish romanesco was also an excellent main. For the meat eaters, the duck wing was very tasty and had a nice creamy horseradish sauce to complement. Overall, this restaurant won our hearts with the fusion of flavors and the server who took good care of us. Cheers!

If you are looking for a cool cozy place with an interesting menu for a fine evening with friends or colleagues, Brutus is highly recommended. My colleagues and I had a 6 course dinner at Brutus last week, everyone from Brutus was friendly and polite. The food was amazing, the spices were picked carefully and meat was cooked beautifully. The taste combination in every dish was so creative and surprising. Everybody in our group was so happy with food.

Great place. Only had two dishes, but will absolutely be back. It was quiet when I got there, so he offered me a look at the wines down in the cellar, which was great, and seems like a thing they do. Very chill atmosphere, great vibes all around. They focus on "weird" wines, lots of minerals, funk, and fun!
