I recently visited Bu Qtair after hearing so much about it from friends and online reviews. The location is definitely a plus — it's right by the beach, and the casual outdoor setup gives it a laid-back, coastal vibe. It feels more like a local joint than a commercial restaurant, which is refreshing.
When it comes to food, the seafood is undeniably fresh. I tried the grilled fish and prawns, which were both flavorful and well-marinated with South Indian-style spices. However, the menu is extremely limited — you basically choose your type of fish, and it’s served with curry, rice, or paratha. While tasty, I felt the prices were a bit steep for the portion sizes and lack of variety.
The biggest downside was the long waiting time. There’s often a queue, and with the outdoor seating, it gets quite hot and uncomfortable, especially in the evenings. Service is minimal, and everything is very self-serve — no frills, no extras.
Overall, Bu Qtair is worth trying once for the experience and the fresh seafood, but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. If you prefer comfort and variety, this might not be your top choice. Would I come again? Maybe — but not too often.
