We came here for the mochi ice cream because I love mochi, but it was bad. I mean the ice cream inside was not bad, but the skin was so thick that I feel like I was eating a bun. Trader joes mochi was far better than these ones.

Rachel Brower

Google
This place has some damn good ice cream. They even have mochi ice cream... It's decent. Prices are decent. There could be more cone options but the ice cream is really what you're coming here for, right? They do that well. I'd definitely come back here and recommend it to my friends. Service is good, too.

Heraclio P

Google
I don't really like mochi and this was pretty good. Lots of flavors so worth trying them all until you find something you like. Strawberry and guava are good. Green tea is good as well. I would go back.

Chris Amendola

Google
Always enjoy their ice cream, this time they didn't have much of a selection of flavors which was disappointing. None the less I enjoyed my waffle cone all the same. If you're in Hawaii Kai check them out.

Chris Randolph

Google
After a long day in the sun, Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream is the way to cool down. They have a menu full of delicious homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors wrapped in Mochi...mmmm!

Therese Howe

Google
Love their mochi ice cream - so many creative flavors! Also love that they offer a 2 oz size scoop (the Fetal Dip) for when I want just a taste of one of their flavors - like the blueberry I tried recently. Sooo good, with fresh blueberry flavor throughout that creamy goodness. Probably gonna have to fight the crowds this summer with the way the temps are going!

Google
I always love bubbies ice cream and I'm still glad they have this location open! I may be extremely biased since I've been eating their ice cream for as long as I can remember but they definitely have the best ice cream on island! My order of half mint chip and half mocha chip hasnt changed in over 10 years and it still tastes just as good as when I first ordered it. The Hawaii Kai location is a bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip over!

Google
A delicious place to stop for ice cream or mochi filled with ice cream! The boards with flavors are colorful and easy to read. Many flavors available for each ice cream and mochi. The ice cream can be sampled upon request. Ice cream can be served in a cup or one of three cones: regular, sugar, or waffle. Ice cream is also sold by weight so there is some variety in scoop size but it's reflected in the price. The only poor part was the service was lacking a bit and one of the people behind the counter was unfriendly/disinterested while the other was very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Hey Yelpers! This is a review for Moena Sweets. I am an occasional customer at the Moena Cafe and checked out the Moena Sweets location, located at Koko Marina. I visited last week and the service was jolly and nice, the environment was calm. They have a large selection of desserts, my favorite being the ice cream of course. I selected the strawberry cheesecake and it was just delightful! The worker which I believe named Presley was kind and welcomed me in. I enjoyed having a nice conversation with the youngins' these days! I decided to write a review on this place because I enjoyed the interaction so much. I know this may be a little much for Yelp but I was having a bad start to my day and the worker cheered me up. Overall: I rate a 5/5 stars! Definitely check it out!

Yelp
The gelato here is delicious because it is from La Gelateria's factory located at 819 Cedar St in town (open from noon til 4pm during the week and closed on weekends) if you want to check out other flavors or are curious where this perfect confection comes from. These are the same people who provide gelato to Nordstrom and other restaurants in town. They are a locally owned business. The day we went, Moena had more of the regular flavors. We were hoping to see the coconut and the sesame. The waffle cones here are made fresh and smell divine. The staff is friendly. There is ample parking as it is located in HK's Koko Marina. They even have a wall you can take photos in front of for your social media. While we were there, some lady just walked in and snapped a selfie there without buying anything and left, lol. If you happen to be in the marina, swing here for dessert. 100% worth it.

Justin H.

Yelp
I love the ube ice cream here. It's one of my favorite, of course other ice cream flavors are good too. Very good friendly staff here as well , very clean inside too. A must try is the shakes here.

Gavin Carl K.

Yelp
Waffles and ice cream! This is my son's favorite place ube ice cream and my favorite is the gelato yogurt honey and coconut. Great service by the young generation and perfect ambiance on the marina.

Tee K.

Yelp
Probably more stars if they were consistent with when they open. Been here a few times when theyre suppose to be open but they weren't. The other times they were open and my kids could have ice cream, their selection isn't as good as said baskin robins which the kids prefer more

Elyse M.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and lots of flavors. The keiki size is a lot larger than you'd think so I'd get the kids size.

Therese H.

Yelp
Located in the space formerly occupied by the longtime ice cream store Bubbie's space, Moena Sweets has become just as popular with neighbors and tourists alike. They may not have 32 flavors, but their selection is solid, and includes gelato options. There's lots of parking at the Koko Marina shopping center, except on the Saturdays when the center hosts a very popular arts and crafts fair. The fair itself is worth attending, and you can stop into the ice cream shop for a quick treat when you're finished shopping!

Yelp
If you've got a hankering for some tasty ice cream, whether it is in the middle of the day after dinner, or as an ending to date night, Moena Sweets is a great place to check out.  Moena Sweets, located near Moena Cafe at Koko Marina, occupies the space that our beloved Bubbies used to be! While many of us were sad when Bubbies decided to close their doors, Moena Sweets eventually came to our rescue! They offer a plethora of not only cold, sweet treats but they've added lattes (hot and cold) to their menu. My current favorite is their lavender latte (hot). They also offer ice cream cakes and sundaes! I also found a flavor that brought tears to my eyes! My dad loved the ice cream flavor called Banana Susana (way back in the day!). I haven't been able to find it out here but a flavor in their line-up caught my eye. It is their Banana Fudge. I ordered a small cup of it and when I tried a spoonful of it when I got to my car, I started tearing up! It tasted just like my dad's favorite, Banana Susana! My dad passed away in 2020, which is why I got emotional over finding this ice cream flavor. Service is always great! Their staff are super friendly. Check them out and support our local businesses! Their motto is "Life is short. Make it sweet." and I agree with them 100%!

Yelp
(Desserted 05/16/23 TU @ 7:00pm): The sweets here might make you moan with delight! I was on my way home and felt there was still room for dessert, so I took a minor detour to Moena Sweets to see what they had to offer. I "found" them the other day when I made a wrong turn, so I made a note of their location, and lo and behold here I was. It looked like a nice local business to try close to home. Would this be a sweet retreat at this frozen treat parlor!? PURCHASE Double Scoop Ube And Poha Berry Ice Cream In A Cup ($7.95): When in Hawaii, of course I had to try more local flavors. The ube was simply ubeliscious, while the poha berry was creamy, custardy, and tropical. I really enjoyed each flavor both on their own and matched together. However, I couldn't help but be surprised that I paid this much for two scoops of ice cream. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Zno5BEsftYPzoLfHHK_1Wg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw SERVICE Greeted by a sweet young female behind the counter, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oI09mvrRVETKCVkZ8xSJjA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw she patiently waited while I cased all of the flavors and contemplated whether or not I wanted gelato or ice cream. Once I decided, she quickly scooped my selection, handed me my order, and I quietly sat at a nearby table to enjoy my dessert. Everything was short and sweet which was all I needed - mahalo! PARKING (FREE) Located within the Koko Marina Center in a sizable outdoor shopping center with plenty of parking stalls, I easily found a spot right out front - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cute quaint open layout inside https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ihPMKrT81neduWeWiXi37g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw with a handful of chairs/tables and one setting outside, I liked the two interior quote murals with a whimsical https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=PjQZlpGviR42zImwBww9ew&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw one and an inspirational https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=yf08Qa64IwR73xjsTMno-g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw one, respectively. Easily legible price menus were hung up on the wall behind the order counter. There was a very antiseptic clean modern rustic welcoming feel. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large front wall windows and doors while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=IWbj7yeib047Vnxe1YOh6w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Moena Sweets was a pleasant way to end the day. However, as much as I enjoyed the tantalizing treat that trekked across my tongue, the price was simply too prohibitive for me to realistically consider another return. I'm sure the ingredients were all-natural, organic, locally sourced, etc. which were all wonderful attributes if these were true. Unfortunately, I personally wasn't as concerned about these features in my food. The service was friendly and straightforward. This was pretty much a parlor that focused on gelato and ice cream snacks with multiple options. Plus, it was always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 3.5 STAR

Yelp
Wanted to try the Brownie Sundae with Carmel cream and vanilla ice cream with Oreo and waffle cone chips. It was delicious, along with the great customer service and beautiful view. This was large enough for two people

Charnell L.

Yelp
Keiki cup: Chocolate Double scoop: Guava gelato & Chocolate ripple i think? Brownie sundae: Vanilla & Rocky road Boys there were nice and patient! We came at about 7pm and it was empty. Overall was pretty yummy as we all emptied our bowls. The guava wasnt as "flavorful" as id have liked and the vanilla ice cream had a frothy-ish texture.. the brownies were so good, warm and plenty. We will most def come back to maybe try some other flavors! Hopefully to try the yuzu aid as well if still available :)

Ellen D.

Yelp
Ice Cream is okay. They have many options to choose from. Definitely over priced for 1 Scoop. We also got the waffle cone which tasted very stale - not fresh at all. Add on's for toppings is extra $1.50 as well. The interior and other dessert options are great. A lot to pick from and nice to have after dinner. Otherwise, don't think we'll be back. Not to bad first experience.

Annie K.

Yelp
Oops I forgot to take a photo. I'll remember next time. I was feeling like I wanted ice cream. This place was just around the corner from where I was and thought I'd give it a try. I tried the black sesame Gelato and my daughter tried the honeydew mochi ice cream. I also tasted the lemon custard ice cream. That was delicious. The black sesame was alright. I've had better. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. However, the portion to what I have to pay was a little expensive. I would have to wait a while before I indulge myself with Moena Sweets.

Stacy S.

Yelp
This has to be the most expensive single scoop of ice cream I've ever had at $5.50 per scoop. Yikes! They're located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center across from the theaters and near Zippy's. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. In addition to ice cream scoops, they also offer shakes and other creations like banana splits, etc. I ordered the banana mac flavor single scoop on a sugar cone, and the ice cream itself was delicious! Not the best I've ever had, and certainly not worth $5.50. I'd give it 4 stars. Service lacked the aloha spirit. Neither of the two workers greeted me and I don't think they said anything until I mentioned that I wanted a single scoop of banana mac nut. I probably wouldn't stop by again primarily because of the price point.

Wina G.

Yelp
Nice shop where Bubbies used to be in Koko Marina shopping center. Friendly staff and good tasting ice cream. They had a lot of flavors and it was hard to choose from but I think the sorbets were the best! The flavors really popped. They not only have the usual ice cream in cups or cones but they also offer shakes, floats, ice cream on waffle and açaí bowls. Was pleased to Find they stay open til 9pm- ideal when you have a nighttime craving for ice cream. They have seating inside as well as places to sit outside the shop. Nice place to come when you don't feel like shave ice.

Yelp
First time trying this place and decided to go on a Monday night around 7pm. I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was with tables filled and about 5 people in line before us with two more groups showing up after us. This 5 star review is mainly for the young lady with blonde hair working alone during this shift. Despite being so busy making back to back milkshakes and with the line growing she was incredibly sweet and had great customer service. She still managed to greet and thank customers as they left the establishment while taking and making orders. I've been finding that customer service as good as hers is harder to come by these days! She was extremely genuine, pleasant and efficient getting orders done quickly, give this girl a raise!

Carrie J.

Yelp
My family loves this spot and so do other families based on the many we see here. Seems to be a fav daddy-daughter day stop too. They have all the classic flavors and a rotation of special flavors. They showcase also the varieties of desert treats, from ice cream, gelato, sorbet, and frozen yogurt. Get your treat in a cone, bowl, sundae or in a milkshake... or take a pint home. Prices are average for crafted high quality ice cream treats. The ambiance is bright and clean but nothing special as the one big window looks over the parking lot. Service is fine, but be patient as there is usually only 1-2 people working and a line can form. This spot is run by the same group that owns the Moena restaurant next door, that is only open for breakfast and lunch, so this is their 'after lunch' place.

Zee D.

Yelp
we are locals and frequent this establishment often... with that being said the girl who helped us tonight (she was the only one on shift with a huge line) on 9/28/24 was not friendly at all. She was very slow (like watching a sloth), and did not seem very knowledgeable in what she was doing (scooping ice cream shouldn't be that hard). so disappointing to say the least

Mimi L.

Yelp
I wanted to take my mainland family for dessert. Moena Sweets was still open. Yay! There's quite a bit of flavors to choose from. Ice cream, gelato, different cones or a cup. I tried the macadamia banana. I enjoyed it. Ambiance is super cute. White and clean. Classy. Very modern. I loved that it was employed by young people, yay for giving the young kids an opportunity to learn customer service and responsibility and most likely a first job. The 2 employees were very courteous and did a nice job. The cost was expensive. 3 ice creams for $22. But I was glad to support a local business.

Suzanne K.

Yelp
Cute little spot for ice cream. The flavors were pretty good and there were lots of flavors to choose from. Prices were okay. I do think there could be some areas they could improve on to make it a 5 star perfect ice dream spot. mainly about the ambiance. When people get ice cream, 9 times out of 10 they are wanting to buy a happy experience, not sure a good sweet food (we can get decent ice cream from a grocery store). The ambiance needs to convince people that spending $7 for a 10 minute experience (2 scoops) is worth it. I don't think there was any music when we walked in, just dead silence. The staff was kind of day dreaming and not enthusiastic like most dessert places. One fridge was totally fogged up and I couldn't even read 10-20 of the flavors.

Ann P.

Yelp
Moena & Sweets located in Hawaii Kai shopping center. Near Sophie's Gourmet Pizza. I highly recommend both places. Grab a pizza and then dessert. Moana is very clean and decorated extremely well. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Variety of selection of items. I got myself me a rainbow cone. Yummy

Jo V.

Yelp
Friendly service, variety of flavors and gelato\sorbetto as well. Had double mint choc ice cream and gelato in a waffle cone which girl said were made today. The waffle cone is my main gripe. Bland with no flavor. Couldn't eat it which is sad. Pricey too. $20 for 2 double scoops, one in the cardboard flavor waffle cone.

De K.

Yelp
Very expensive, won't go there again. Staff are friendly though. Shake was ok, but honestly would prefer shakes from Chic fil a.

Yelp
Dessert after dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... I'm so lucky to have friends who use the Yelp app... I mean... I'm so grateful that my friends are Elite Yelpers who really know how to use filters on the Yelp app to figure out which places are still open... and - they look at pictures of other reviewers to find the best places! For example, we were deciding between two businesses. It was about 8pm, so, several shops were closed already. From the photos on Yelp, Moana Sweets looked like it had "cute decor"! Even though they are located at Koko Marina Shopping Center in Hawaii Kai, we took the drive out! There were many positive features for Moena Sweets: There's lots of free parking! Service is helpful and friendly! Restrooms are relatively nearby (upstairs). Menu has variety! The best thing was that we were able to dine in!!! Yes, they have outside seating. However, we enjoyed the air conditioning and pleasant environment! I especially liked the starfish in the vases on the beautiful wood table where we sat! I wouldn't mind returning if I was in the area again! It's way better than other places where we eat our ice cream while standing on the sidewalk or have our halo halo while sitting in our cars in the parking lot! Those places didn't even have a restroom available! #truth P.S. this space took the place of Bubbies Ice Cream... Note: we forgot to take a selfie with the ice cream mural... Arggg!

Abri L.

Yelp
MOOD: Sweet tooth craving After a long day at the beach I decide to take my little sister to get something sweet as we were in the parking lot. We go in and we are greeted by a nice young lady who offered us samples and was very helpful as we browsed through the menu. This is such a cute shop. The aesthetic is lovely even though a lot of the chairs were up as I think they are having limited capacity or dine-out only. I thought the cute scriptures on the wall was so sweet. I got a shake that I made and my sister got a scoop of ice cream. Both were amazing. I will definitely be back!

Janelle J.

Yelp
Our go to for Ice Cream... High quality, delicious, creamy to say the least. Don't forget to order your yummy treat on a waffle cone! Such a cute and welcoming atmosphere with a friendly staff. The perfect go to on a hot day!

Steven U.

Yelp
Moena Sweets is located next door to Moena cafe...in what used to be Bubbies. The inside has been redone in a very nice way. Bright, airy, and fresh, it looks great on the inside. The waitstaff was nice and offered free tastings of the ice cream. When I asked if they made their own ice cream they said no, but it is from local vendors. We were able to try the Earl Grey gelato which was nice and light, and did have tea overtones. Our favorite was the Hawaiian mud pie. Chunky, full of flavor, and nice chocolatey taste. When we went today, they only take credit cards, so come prepared. They weight the ice cream and charge you accordingly. Our single scoop was $5.50. Looking forward to visiting again for the root beer float!

Keahi L.

Yelp
Went here Sunday after a movie to get some sweet treats but I was disappointed to find out that the shop had NO FRUITS that day. The two items I wanted to try: acai bowl and banana split were then crossed off the menu. My partner and I opted for a brownie sundae, which the description described as two toppings on two scoops of ice cream on a brownie, I mean YUM, but again I was disappointed by it. The worker but two scoops and the two toppings in one 6" bowl then shoved the brownies in. I wasnt expecting a sloppy sundae that was not even assembled as its description said. Haupia is good, not too sweet; Coffee chocolate chip has hard bits of chocolate plus coffee grounds which get stuck in your teeth; and the Mint chocolate chip is smooth and not overwhelming (yay!). I say that extra toppings at 0.75 a pop is expensive and extra syrups are 0.50 I believe. Wouldnt come back here unless they had fruit. Located in lieu of Bubbies, across Koko Marina move theatre. Outdoor seating available, no indoor seating due to current COVID restrictions.

Yelp
We came here last night for an after dinner snack and it was okay. We looked at pictures on Yelp and my husband wanted to try the mint chocolate chip milkshake. My daughter and I were just gonna share a cup of ice cream. We get to the front to look at the flavors and there isn't a whole lot to choose from. They have ice cream and gelato but gelato is pricier. I think for ice cream they had about ten flavors but none of them really stood out. We ended up getting strawberry but it was a super red/pink color which was a little unusual to me. My husband ordered the mint chocolate chip milkshake but then they said they were out of that ice cream. Then the guy said they were also out of three other flavors including cookies and cream. So my husband decided not to get anything from there. We just had our strawberry ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. It was okay to me. They put too many rainbow sprinkles to me but I guess if you're gonna charge for the sprinkles, just load them up. My daughter enjoyed the ice cream and was sad when my husband ate up the last few bites while she was dancing around. Maybe we will come by next time during the day and see if they have more flavors. I think my husband still wants to try out their milkshake.

Nicholas A.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice and simple ice cream place.. Check this place out... Friendly family owned business... it is a bit expensive.. my drink cost about $9.. not sure it was worth it though. My friend got ice cream and you can never go wrong with a Rocky Road ice cream.. So, maybe just come here for a quick little ice cream run... I definitely want to give it another shot... mayb try their coffees?

Kenji M.

Yelp
It's fine. Not amazing but pretty decent. Hawaii has a dearth of ice cream places and this is one of the better ones. They allow you to try all their flavors and there were a decent number of selections from classics to several Hawaii flavors like coconut dragonfruit guava lilikoi and even li hing mui pineapple. Would recommend if you're on this side of the island. Would not recommend traveling if you aren't local. Ice cream was aight. A bit better than grocery store ice cream. I've had better though in terms of both taste and texture.

Jill M.

Yelp
This place was a pleasant surprise after our normal ice cream shop on the east side, Bubbies, shut down. We're grateful we thought to check if another ice cream joint popped up and Moena Sweets took over the previous store! Every time we drive around the island from the east side, we have to stop for ice cream at Koko Head Marina. Moena Sweets saved the day. Located in the old Bubbies shop, they gave it a facelift and serve some delicious treats like ice cream, gelato, acai bowls, shakes and more. The staff was generous with explaining their offerings and even let us sample 2 flavors each. I sampled the mango cream ice cream which was delicious, but not as stellar as the honey yogurt gelato - OMG. This is my new go-to gelato flavor! It truly tastes like honey yogurt, and is a great base to any toppings you'd want. I got a scoop of the honey yogurt topped with bananas and Oreos and it was divine! My husband got a scoop of their seasonal gelato, coconut, on a homemade waffle cone which was really good too, by the way. It's a little on the pricey side, especially compared to Bubbies, but the quality is outstanding. Also, we're just super grateful to see another local business occupying the space, especially during these times. We hope to visit again and again. Mahalo!

Jason S.

Yelp
My only drawback from this place is that I forgot to take pictures of the absolutely delicious ice cream. Partially because I was overheated and both my wife and I were craving something to call us down and we couldn't shovel this down fast enough....they have lots of selection la of flavors including gelato, shakes, floats, coffees etc...immediately walking in is the smell of freshly made waffle cones which smell so good... After a quick look over my options it was the banana/macadamia nut and their coconut/taro for a double scoop. Both of these flavors where so good and loved the banana flavor the best but the coconut was equally as awesome. The young lady working here today on 2/16 around 2p was super nice and friendly. They do weigh all their ice cream which I find a little annoying but as a business owner I get it. Sat down right in front with their bistro set and just enjoyed getting out of the sun and cooling off with a cold delicious treat. I would for sure come back for another visit.

Kira K.

Yelp
Moena Sweets, in Koko Marina Shopping Center, took the place of the old bubbies. No longer the old-school ice cream parlor vibe, this shop is clean and modern. Many flavors of ice cream and gelato are offered here- some classics and many new. They offer cup and cone options- different sizes and scoops as well. Apple Pay is offered here, which is so convenient, a definite plus!!! Only downside for me was the scoop size and flavor. I was disappointed in the texture and sweetness of the black sesame gelato I ordered here. Seeds were not ground up and the flavor was lacking. Maybe it was just a miss for this flavor, but if I'm spending on ice cream/gelato, I expected better. We will definitely be back to try other items in the future, I look forward to updating my review as it fits!

MariJ R.

Yelp
The ice cream and gelato here is not bad. Not my favorite, but it's decent. Service was great and would try here again. The place was cute looking and clean.

Kiana F.

Yelp
This Dessert/Treat shop is located where Bubbies was. The decor is very contemporary/modern. During this time of COVID, workers wore masks and still were friendly/inviting. They have Ice cream and Gelato. I got Gelato. My boyfriend got Animal Cookie Ice cream and his friend got a milkshake in Animal Cookie. The price point is a tad high, but Ice cream prices seem to be getting up there. The location also justifies the high price point. It has a nice view right along the water if you were to step out the back door or walk around the shopping area. The treats itself tasted delicious. There are food options near by like Teddys, A brew house and poke bowl shop. Will go back!

Bert S.

Yelp
I ran across this place by accident. I've recently move to Hawaii Kai and went for a walk. I thought I'd be okay because I knew Bubbies had closed but saw this place there now. So much for for burning calories. While I liked Bubbies, I hated that you couldn't take 8-10 y/o kids in there without fear of having to explain their suggestive menu. While the ice cream was good, you shouldn't have to worry about kids asking "what does that mean?" The decor is light, bright, and inviting. In our Covid world, I prefer to sit outside where it's windy. They have their tables spaced. I think this would be a great place to sit down once we figure out the whole Covid thing. I had the gelato as well as ice cream. While it was good, it didn't seem to have the brightness of Via Gelato. That being said, I'd rather walk a mile here rather than drive 5 miles to Kaimuki. One of the surprises was that the green tea ice cream tasted a lot stronger than the green tea gelato. Yes... I go overboard. Who orders matcha ice cream and gelato at one sitting? This is a tough time for any food place to stay in business. I am thrilled they are here and I'll be back to support them. Next time I'll try their coffee.

Yelp
I was across the street at the UPS store when I noticed Bubbies was no longer there and it was now Moena sweets. I had to go over and check it out. Walking in, my first impression was that it was so bright and new and smelled heavenly because they were making fresh waffle cones. The two employees working were really nice. They greeted me upon walking in and were great to talk to. I ordered their waffle cones which btw are amazing!! I don't think I've ever had a waffle cone so delicious. It was so fresh, crispy and airy. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
This place has everything you could want in a food establishment--clean, modern, variety, excellent customer service, delicious! Is it pricey, yes. However, ice cream is an occasional treat, so I don't mind spending a bit more for everything I mentioned. Both the ice creams and gelatos are great and I also love the shakes. Tip: If you are buying two single scoops, order a sundae if you and your friend don't mind eating out of the same container. You get two flavors, a topping, and whipped cream (if you want it). It's cheaper than two separate cups.

Yelp
Moena Sweets occupies the old Bubbies when it closed down. While no ice cream eaterie can replace Bubbies, Moena doesn't try to. The space is clean, modern, and bright. They have a variety of delicious offerings including ice cream, sundaes, and shakes. My daughter was tickled pink to go get ice cream the other day after a hard day at school. The staff is warm and friendly and I really was impressed with the variety of options and flavors of ice cream. I opted for the classic Rocky Road flavor which was one of the best I've had - ever. The ice cream was silky and creamy and it had a lot of nuts and marshmallows in it. My husband had a big sundae and got so much for his money that he couldn't finish it. I really like this spot. The people who work are really friendly. The space is always clean and cool and you really can't go wrong with anything ice cream. ;)

Yelp
Cute little cafe by the marina to hang out and enjoy some frozen goodies on a hot day or after a hike, I gave one star for setting alone. They have gelato from La Gelateria and ice cream from Dave's, neither are very exciting options to me admittedly. Wish they carried more variety of local desserts like HB Slice's ice cream pie slices or Uncle's ice cream sandwiches so there were more tempting options. Went into here to grab dessert after picking up a pizza next door, which is the main reason I come here. Tried their coffee ice cream with fudge sauce and mac nuts which was cloyingly sweet but the best of the options available. And the Li Hing Pineapple Sorbetto which was refreshing but not good enough to g out of my way. Since Le Gelateria's known for Gianduja (choc hazelnut, expensive version of praline as it tends to have a higher hazelnut to choc ratio), will try that next time but there's a reason this place is usually quiet...

Yelp
I was planning on going to Kokonuts for an açaí bowl but got there 7:03pm and they close at 7. I did a quick search on Yelp and found Moena sweets had açaí bowls too. I walked a block down and got in line. There were about 3 people in front of me. The lone went quick even there were only 2 people working. The staff was very friendly. The lady behind me said this was her favorite place to get açaí bowls. I got the bowl, went home and it hit the spot. Not too sweet like ice cream but sweet enough that you feel like you had a treat. I'll be back to try other items.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and super nice staff! They offer sundaes and milkshakes and 3 different kinds of floats! Great toppings options for your sundae. The decor is adorable and feels very clean.

Yelp
So many great flavors to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down. The two young guys were so welcoming and really wanted us to enjoy our ice cream. Finally narrowed it down to three flavors - ordered the Brownie Sundae that comes with two scoops and added an extra scoop of Mud Pie to go along with the Kulolo and Banana Macadamia. It was so refreshing, tasty and satisfying. This must be a really good place - we came at 8:30pm and there were nonstop customers after us until closing at 9pm. We were very impressed at how friendly and accommodating the two young men working there were to all the customers.

Yelp
Couldn't possibly leave a good review because we weren't even given the opportunity to try anything... my husband and I were outside at 11:59 am (literally one minute before opening) and were told they weren't opened. When we politely asked okay well when do you open? we received no response as if we weren't heard. As we got in the car the lights literally turned on... y'all couldn't just ask us to wait 30 seconds? Completely rude and off putting.

Yelp
Awesome service. Even better ice cream! Mud pie was my favorite. My only gripe is the amount of ice cream Moena Sweets gives you. I ordered three scoops and it was more like two scoops. They even weighed the ice cream scoops on a scale lol. Otherwise it would've been 5 stars.

Yelp
Moena Sweets is affiliated with the much-loved Moena Cafe in Hawaii Kai. Located in the shopping center, it's an easy place to stop and park if you're out that way. They seem to have a good following and the place was busy, even at 8 o'clock at night. There were lots of groups there enjoying cones and cups. I don't think they make their own ice cream, but they do have a lot of choices and some of those are very unique. I decided on a waffle cone and the staff working the counter let me try a couple of flavors before deciding. I am always going to order something a little different (if I don't order the exact same thing I always order on a menu) - so, I went after the black sesame and horchata. I haven't seen a horchata-flavored ice cream before, but it makes a lot of sense that the result would be creamy with cinnamon undertones. I wasn't disappointed in that or the black sesame. The contrast was very good and I'd order black sesame dessert any day of the week. The cone was large and each scoop was generous without being crazy. My gf is a fan of the old-man trio. What is that, you ask? It is maple walnut, pistachio, and butter pecan. She drinks like an old man too, but that's for another post. Hers wasn't that great. She had a scoop of butter pecan and it wasn't much to holler about. Maybe go after some of the other flavors first. She tried to order, "out of the box" with another nut flavor, but they were out of the mac nut. It isn't bad, but if you're looking for great, there are a quite a few places on the island doing that - this is solid if you just want some ice cream at 8 o'clock at night.

Yelp
Bringing locally produced ice cream & gelato together in one place! I got Dave's ice cream in a waffle cone. My date got sesame gelato. Delicious! The team refurbished the entire space. No more dank, dark sad decor. It's light & bright. The two staffers working the counter were attentive and nice. During the week, this place opens right before school lets out. Pretty clever if you ask me.

Yelp
Overpriced ice cream $12 for 2 kiddie cups.
