What a great experience at Bube's Brewery! We made reservations for dinner in the catacombs, followed by a ghost tour of the building.
The building is amazing, all by itself. It's funky, vintage oldness is something you can't replicate. The experience of being there is cool, all by itself. But then we went down to the dining room underground and were seated. It's pretty dark down there and we needed to use our phones to read the menu.
The menu is small, but has lots of interesting items. We were a party of three. I started with meatballs and really enjoyed them. My husband had a soup that wasn't chili, but was kind of like chili and was delicious. Our friend had French Onion Soup, which she raved about.
For my entrée, I had a New York Strip Steak. It was topped with frizzled leeks and dried tomatoes. On the side I had broccoli and mashed potatoes. My steak was a little underdone to my taste but it was of good flavor and quality.
It was a little difficult to see our food in the dark, but we managed to get nice photos of it, which I will attach. My husband had Creole Shrimp with Crab, which was served over rice. He loved it. It looked delicious. Our friend had the Alfredo Penne Pasta, to which she added chicken. It was one of those bowls that despite eating a lot, it never seems to empty. She ended up taking a good deal of it home.
We all foolishly ordered dessert. I had cheesecake, that could have used a little more of the fruit topping, but was deliciously made, just the tiniest bit tart (the way cheesecake should be!) and very creamy. Our friend had a spice cake with cream cheese frosting, which she loved.
Our ghost tour was a lot of fun. It was the last one ever for the paranormal investigator who led it. We went all through the building and learned a good deal about the family. We ended in a ballroom, where a wedding had actually taken place earlier in the day. While talking about the room, the lights in one corner of the room kept turning on and off. Whether that was planned and human controlled, I don't know, but it was certainly amusing.
