Buccaneer Club

Now the 5 stars is based on not just the buccaneer but also against what else is available in the area. There are nicer venues around as the buccaneer is quite rustic but! The vibe was good, the food was great and the service was also great. We were staying close by so went 3 or 4 times for either just drinks or food and drinks. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and chatty, seating areas were varied to either inside, outside or outside covered. Parking available. Prices were on par with all other restaurant. My favourite main course was the sweet and sour shrimp (the sauce was SO good), the bread and butter desert was excellent. The visits for food and the spring roll starter wasn't available which was quite sad. All in all id say definitely a place to visit either as a couple or a group. Good kids menu available too.

Great experience tonight! I booked a property in Governor’s Harbour, Central Eleuthera, Bahamas to stay at for a little over a week and just arrived today. While checking in after a 12hr trip to get here, I mentioned to the young man showing me around that I hadn’t eaten all day and that I really needed to go find a meal. As it turned out, my host, Odi, mentioned that he also worked at the Buccaneer Club restaurant just down the street—about a 10-minute walk. Interestingly, the suite I rented is associated with the restaurant in some ways (offered free ice, etc.), but it gets even better. Odi offered to give me a ride to the restaurant for dinner. What a pleasant surprise! I say “surprise” because, as pilots traveling abroad for work, we sometimes leave with the feeling that locals forget we’re not on vacation but still know and appreciate good customer service—something as simple as a genuine “thank you,” like we’re used to in the States can be missed. Odi was a perfect gentleman and exemplified true hospitality. You’re a great ambassador for the Bahamas, young Odi! The restaurant, known locally as the Buccaneer Club, was fantastic. I started with conch chowder and Johnny cake. My entrée was the blackened mahi-mahi with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. For a drink—what else?—the Buccaneer Punch, a wonderful (and secret) blend of rums and fruit juices. Everything was bursting with island flavor; absolutely delicious (see photos). You’ll be happy with the service (on Bahama time), the under-the-oaks outdoor dining if you prefer not to eat inside, and the prices are reasonable for Eleuthera. The live entertainment was also enjoyable. If you’re visiting Governor’s Harbour, definitely check out The Buccaneer Club! (See my photos) Someone is going to ask, “why not 5 “five” stars? It comes down to table service. I waited 20 minutes for my delicious Buccaneer beverage which the young man apologized for. I also waited another 10 minutes after my food arrived to the table for the bottle of water I requested. My medical condition requires the liquid when I eat…I’ll be reporting back throughout the next week or so as I plan to give breakfast and lunch a try. Please select a reaction below-thanks!

Very good food, decent portion, wonderful service by Hero. Will be back this week again! When is the live music again? One man sensation band was enjoyable!!! Key lime pie was the only so/so piece. Had the mussels and blackened grouper dinner

My wife and I went here for dinner. She ordered a Greek salad with grilled mahi. The dressing on the salad had much too much vinegar which made the dish bitter. My grilled grouper was quite good but the rice ‘n peas were cold. The Mac n cheese was also quite tasty. The service was not great. Nobody asked whether our food was ok or whether we would like another drink or whether we would like dessert. The bill was simply brought to the table with an automatic 18% gratuity added. The place stunk of weed. I would describe the restaurant/bar as Bahamian food for tourists. We will go back to finding small jerk shacks for the rest of our vacation.

This was highly recommended by our resort. The Island feeling was really great. Having been to many of the Islands near here, we really liked this. This drinks were great . Two of us ordered the larger spiny lobster tails and two the smaller ones. It seems that they were all cooked for the same amount of time. I had a small one and it was completely inedible. Tough as a nails. Really bad. The two of us with the small ones ate what else was on the plate. When asked I told the truth that the food was over cooked tough and not edible. They apologized. That’s it. They apologized! Not what I would expect we’ve from McDonalds. Can’t recommend this place which is a shame. I’m still seething from the lobster debacle, but To be perfectly fair, we tried again today and went back for a late lunch. The fried onion rings were excellent. Four of us got hamburgers which were perfectly cooked and tasted great. Good service also.

We had a great dinner here. We loved the outdoor deck and great service. We ordered the grilled grouper dinner which was good and the island curry which was simply amazing and a must order. It was not spicy and very flavorful - perhaps the best curry I have had. Our favorite restaurant in Governor’s Harbour.

Nice outside patio restaurant. Some nights have live music. Menus have a good few options. The island curry was really delicious. They need to start making that curry sauce as an option with the fries. When there was a small issue they fixed it straight away and gave us a free drink (not needed but they were super kind). Staff were friendly. Lovely vibe with the music. Highly recommend their curries.

It didn't work for us. We ate there twice during a week stay in Governor's Harbour this Jan. Both times there was plenty of room. No wait. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast they over charged us by $10, bringing eggs we never ordered and charging us fir a side that the menu description said was included. The total bill for two for breakfast was $80. This is after they pop you for VAT + 20% "gratuity". Every place in GH does this though. Spending the $ is not the issue for us. Even $80 for breakfast, as nutty as that is. But we felt played to drive the ticket cost up. I'm not one to scour a restaurant bill on vacation, so I didn't catch until we got back to our villa. The dinner meal was just uninspiring. My wife was excited about the spring rolls and the fried rice. The spring rolls disappointed as they were just some frozen, factory offering. The fried rice was dry and not very favorable. Anyway...that's our take. Friendly staff. Clean setting. Nice patio. Uninspiring food even at 3/4's the price you're asked to pay.
