The Buchan is a 2 star hotel, with everything that implies. The building is old (and it shows), the rooms are basic bed and ensuite deals, the room was also not very big, and the bed was hard. I actually like hard beds anyway, but it's worth knowing about.
Having said all that, the room was very clean, it had a big window that let a lot of light in, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a common room with free tea and coffee, and lots of books. No TV or radio though, oddly enough.
It's also in a great location, within walking distance of a lot of restaurants, but no attractions/landmarks. On the other hand, it's close to a main road so you can easily catch the bus to anywhere you want. It also smells really good on the street outside the hotel; this is due to the flower bushes along the street. If you've got pollen allergies or hay-fever, it's worth keeping this in mind.
I think I would stay here again, but purely as a place to sleep, shower and change. Come with no expectations at all. It's not bad, just basic.
