Buchan Hotel

My parents stayed here while they were visiting. The location was perfect for our needs. The room was clean, the towels were plush. There’s a huge common room and fresh coffee all the time. The room was cozy, but had everything that they needed. My parents said they would totally re-book the next time they visit.

Great customer service, friendly staff and clean rooms. For the price it’s great and near the city. We stayed in the shared bathroom option and it turned out to be a lot better then we thought. We never had to wait and they kept them clean. **Keep in mind if you rent a car parking on the street is possible but it can be hard to get a spot. The parking is only two hours during the day and free 9pm-9am. That works fine for us though. The hotel offers $10 day parking but ask quickly or ahead because they only have so many spots!!

Room is perfect! Comfy bed lots of space and very clean but the shared bathroom was disappointing. Almost always full and wasn't always cleaned right after the last person used it (shower). However if you are flexible and easy going with a limited budget (ie private hostel room with shared bathroom) this place is great! Nice location near Korean food and Stanley park ...and sink in the room so you can wash face and brush teeth in room

Great place to stay and it’s value is high. U wont expect 4 seasons but all I can say is the staff working here make this hotel awesome! I have met a several of them & all are very nice and helpful. It is not big so you would not expect much entertainment but they got coffee and hot water in the lobby and I found it nice. They are quite clean and housekeeping will do it everyday but all I suggest is they can have maintenance for this hotel cuz the toilet window is broken and the carpet has dust on it.

The Buchan is a 2 star hotel, with everything that implies. The building is old (and it shows), the rooms are basic bed and ensuite deals, the room was also not very big, and the bed was hard. I actually like hard beds anyway, but it's worth knowing about. Having said all that, the room was very clean, it had a big window that let a lot of light in, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a common room with free tea and coffee, and lots of books. No TV or radio though, oddly enough. It's also in a great location, within walking distance of a lot of restaurants, but no attractions/landmarks. On the other hand, it's close to a main road so you can easily catch the bus to anywhere you want. It also smells really good on the street outside the hotel; this is due to the flower bushes along the street. If you've got pollen allergies or hay-fever, it's worth keeping this in mind. I think I would stay here again, but purely as a place to sleep, shower and change. Come with no expectations at all. It's not bad, just basic.

Me and a couple of friends stayed here for only one night and will never come back. The room was way to over priced for what you get and on top of that if you have a vehicle they charge you $20 plus tax to use there assigned parking spots! The room was a total disaster! There was strips of plaster and paint peeling from the walls and ceiling, the closest doors were broken, the bathroom was cramped and had black mold in every corner, and the room was a thousand degrees inside and the hotel provided the room with two broken fans! The only good thing I have to say about this hotel is that hotel staff were nice and friendly.

Very affordable rates for a very clean (they are obsessed with spotless clean shared toilets and washrooms) and well equipped room. The only downside is the old key system to access rooms (cards are a lot safer and more convenient) and the noisy clean up from 9 a.m. on. I would stay here again and I recommend it.

Great place to stay. Well run and friendly staff. Location is perfect to see Vancouver either by walking or bike. They also have one of the best restaurants in the area attached to the hotel. On a tree lined street it was nice to see the blossoms falling in May.
