Florence's Newest Outdoor Drinking Trend Is Also Its Oldest | Condé Nast Traveler
"A curious carving on a city wall caught my eye. An inscription underneath declared it a buchette del vino, or wine window. In Renaissance-era Florence, windows like this, or buchette, worked as wine bars, carved into the outer walls of the villas and the palaces occupied by Tuscany’s wealthier crust."
Another great find! Asked for some franciacorta, which wasn’t on the menu, and they gladly poured us some. Delicious! Out of the tourists’ way, well, for now at least…

There is another "wine window" just round the corner from this place where their "window" is just right next to an open door and waiters standing around for you. Here however, it's the real deal for a proper experience. You ring the bell and are served quickly through the hatch - the kind man within even offered to take a picture from his POV which was fun. Drinks were on the pricier side for the portion - but you pay for the novelty.

Perfect experience.
Ring the bell and order your wine!
Amazing how the pandemic brought back into use these windows from the times of the plague, the history to them adds gravitas to the novelty factor.
There was no queue when we arrived so after some apprehension we rang the ball and were greeted by the kind host who served our tasty rose.

Great wine, super cute, however my father had to use the bathroom after purchasing a glass of wine and they locked the door after rudely telling us only with food purchase. Ruined our afternoon rushing to find a WC. I am accustomed to Europe and prepared my father accordingly. It would have been fine if they politely requested we purchase food but instead we were met with hostility.

Really cool experience! I’m not sure what other reviews are complaining about, good amount of wine in a nice plastic glass.
My wife and I were the only ones here for 5 mins and sat on the step opposite the hole in the wall and enjoyed a glass of Red and a Aperol Spritz!
Would recommend!!!

Tiny plastic glass, very small pour, it was disappointing and expensive (6€). You can find better in Florence.
