10 Indigenous-led Northern Lights Experiences in Canada

"Outside Yellowknife, I joined a small-group aurora-viewing experience with Bucketlist Tours that included Indigenous storytelling and a light midnight meal of homemade fish chowder, hot bannock, coffee and northern herbal teas; they provide traditional northern clothing for photo ops and offer a variety of other Indigenous tours year-round." - Debbie Olsen

Tracy was very kind and did her best to help us see as many spots as possible. Although we couldn’t spot any bison, we were impressed by her effort to even use a drone to try to find them. Thanks to her, the whole tour was comfortable and enjoyable, and we are truly grateful. It was also fascinating to hear that many Korean celebrities had visited Tracy’s lodge. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful memory!

✨ She said YES! Tracy said yes to everything I asked for — and even more — to help me organize a very special marriage proposal for my brother and his girlfriend. From the very first moment I contacted her, Tracy was incredibly accommodating, thoughtful, and genuinely warm. She helped us plan every detail, coordinated a beautiful surprise by having the bride-to-be’s parents show up unexpectedly, and even helped us find a photographer to capture the moment. Despite the Arctic cold, Tracy and her entire team made us feel truly welcome with their professionalism, kindness, and friendly attitude. Everything was handled with care, flexibility, and such a positive energy that we felt completely supported throughout the experience. Thanks to Tracy and her wonderful staff, the proposal became an unforgettable moment for our whole family. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to help us create such a meaningful memory. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you, Tracy — we’ll remember this forever 💕

Had a fantastic evening on the Aurora Cozy Cabin Tour. What I loved: small intimate group size. Tracy, a warm and welcoming host with lots of local knowledge and stories to share. The fresh out of the oven Bannock was delicious. And of course the evening sky did not disappoint… the Aurora was beautiful. I would 100% recommend Bucklist tours.

Tracy gave us tripods, soup and haddock and even gave us the recipe. Her bus was full but she took us in her car. This is the best Aurora tour in Yellowknife, her cabin is amazing!

The Cozy Cabin Aurora Viewing was great! Tracy was so warm and welcoming and her bannock and fish soup are soooo tasty! Tracy has warm coats and tripods and the cabin is a great place to stay warm while waiting for the aurora. There's plenty of space outside to spread out and take spectacular aurora pictures. Wish we had more time to chat with Tracy but it was a great aurora night and we spent almost the whole time outside.

Tracy and the rest of the Bucket List Tours employees were amazing and so considerate! We booked with her company last minute and she accommodated us without hesitation. I really appreciated this because it was the end of the us the season and there was potential for some amazing lights that night, which we saw! I was able to take some amazing pictures because she provided tripods, slippers to wear in the cabin when we needed to warm up our feed, and hot beverages. On top of all that, her fish chowder and bannock were absolutely delicious. She is an amazing host and tour guide.

Tracy believes in building relationships and providing top class hospitality to the visitors coming to Yellowknife. Don’t miss out on her fresh bannock and warm chowder when you go to her beautiful (and warm!!) cabin for the Aurora viewing. Cabin is cozy and beautiful and you will be amazed to see Tracy’s collection. She went above and beyond to get champagne and cake for us as we were celebrating our first anniversary. Tracy brings her amazing energy to the group and motivates everyone to connect and have a wonderful night😍

One of the cutest and coziest cabins in Yellowknife where you will get the best host Tracy. She's extremely friendly and warm. She's got some amazing stories to share and the best part is you can view the Aurora's from her cabin if the sky's clear. She would serve you with amazing local food and drinks. I would highly recommend her cabin and tours she operates from Yellowknife.
