How to Plan a Ski Trip to Beech Mountain

"Suggested as a practical stop for hikers and visitors: guests are encouraged to stop by to grab a trail map and any additional information about trail status (some routes may be inaccessible following storm damage)." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. We have a great fondness for Beech Mountain! This is a wonderful recreation center that offers activities such as basketball, an indoor walking track, volleyball, and ping pong, among others. It also features a weight room, tennis courts, a pleasant paved walking trail, a playground, and recreational fields. There is a lovely lake for fishing, as well as hiking trails leading to a 20-foot waterfall. We certainly recommend a visit if you happen to be in the area! Be mindful the trail use to be a loop but due to Helene in and back at this time until the bridge can be fixed. Still worth the hike!

Nice playground for the kids and the hiking trail was nice. We actually liked the entire river loop.

I was really impressed with this place because there's a lot to do and much of it is free. We paddled for free on the lake and enjoyed the two free ropes courses. You can also fish there on the lake. We did a day pass and played basketball indoors, which was a blast. They also have games, books, and puzzles if you want to do any of those. We didn't do the hiking trails but they have plenty of them. It's a fun spot for families!

This is a first rate recreation center….beautiful building with amenities such as Pickle ball, picnic tables, playground equipment, periodic community activities, volleyball, exercise equipment, trails with water falls/stream, amongst many other recreation center amenities. This was the first time we took the trail to The Falls at Buckeye, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was! I definitely enjoyed walking in the water. Regretted that I didn’t have a swimsuit. The recreation center is very conveniently located to our home, Deer Trail Lodge.

Checked out the hiking trail. It was fun and interesting terrain. The hike is a bit steep.

There is indoor basketball and tennis/pickle ball courts and leg free weights. These spaces are interior but not air conditioned. They do have large fans. There is a weight room that is air conditioned. A schedule of classes is also offered. There is a cost of $8 per day, $20/week for individual or $30/week for family. The gym is available 24/7 and for after hours you enter by a side door and use a call box to speak to person and desk and give your name. Outside there is tennis/pickle ball court. They also have canoes and kayaks for use. You just have to check in at desk to sign in and sign a waiver and collect a key to get boat and then can use for 2 hours. There is also miles of trails to hike and a ropes course. All of the outside activities are free.

This is a great recreation center with many options. They have a gym, basketball court, pickleball courts, fitness classes, community events, an indoor walking track. The best part is that it's never really crowded. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

From what I saw, it was nice. We went for the hiking map, and that was pretty much it. 3/30/24 hiked the waterfall trail, and there are points in it that are very steep and rocky. Beautiful waterfalls at the bottom though.
